@@AbuGuroza I mean, it does have issues, mainly the outer barrel isn't the most stable and I don't expect all the rivets to hold that well, also the performance out of the box isn't the best and I just now had my first issue, the bolt doesnt really fully cicle and waste a lot of gas, but I'm gonna fix that as soon as I can get some parts, all the working bits are we ak compatible, so you can find replacement easily l

lol no damn waaaay you run a WA M4 GBBR in 2020?! xD
I did that from 2008 to 2011 and maaan the struggle was HELL! Even with upgraded RA-Tech parts.
- broken charging handle
- broken bolt catches
- worn down bolt carriers (super expensive)
- destroyed bolt nozzle
- faulty full auto
- leaky mags (even out of the box)
- no feeds
- double feeds
Maybe more happened, but WA is pure frustration, not to mention the wasted money and shipping from overseas beacause GBBRs were not really common back then.
But still, I loved the realistic handling and tactical games with it. And the attention was funny back then.
After a break I got myself a GHK M4A1 in 2018, but due to personal stuff I couldn't go on any event until it got too cold in Autumn. 2019 I decided to transform it into a MK18 Mod 1. Which was frustration for other reasons (reasearch, getting all parts, making them fit, shipping delays, etc.). But I succeeded in Autumn and another year went by with no use.
Next I see GHK released their very own MK18 -.- sooo, much pain, money and time for nothing! Back when I ordered parts from Samoon, they didn't even know what a MK18 is!
Finally I'm ready to rock it, but... quarantine!
I love GBBRs! But anyone... tell me please, am I cursed?
thats unlucky holy hell. WA, WE, Vipertech and Inokatsu are some really outdates platforms. VFC can fuck itself with the unreliability it has. I miss my KWA lm4 but even happier with my GHK AUG
Half the GBBR out today use the WA gas blowback systems they’re no different than any closed bolt set up.
they’re either closed bolt setups or crap open bolt setups. Are you talking about WA rifles from 2011? A KWA looks identical in terms of parts to a Western arms Gas blowback system but not as beefy in some cases.
I’ve custom polished every internal part from dozens of different GBBR and they’re all the same unless you’re talking about garbage simulated recoil block guns like the TM system or the newer open bolt Tippmann style which are do do.
If so open bolt vs closed there’s no comparison! When it comes to realism close bolt is the only way to go!
You just named companies with two totally different platforms.
Exactly. I bought brand new GBB Glocks and they immediately didn't work out of the box. I wish someone would come up with a more reliable system for GBB that didn't break all the time.
@@MaleWhaleGaming WE isn't an outdated platform. In fact I would say that today they set the benchmark as WE is one of the few companies that fully supports their models. I can actually buy uppers and barrels and make custom uppers I can swap in the field like a real AR-15.
The only weak part of WE is the pot metal they use, but once you buy a steel trigger group, that almost always fixes any long term durability issues. On my WE AK for example, the only part I replaced was the hammer. I'm 20,000k rounds without issue.
Although I will admit that WA, GHK, and G&P are more efficient products, however they cost so much more than WE, I personally don't find them worth it.

AIRSOFT GI, Cries in chapter 7 bankruptcy
How do you find one?
I love the look of the GBB Rifle. Recently a friend of mine got a GBB m4 which he kindly let me use for a couple of games. I got to admit I loved the recoil, the weight and how I had reloaded way more often. I've started using mid-caps with my AEG so I get to reload more because I find it fun. Plus I want to use my mag pouches more for reloading.
I'm sad that people stopped making low cap magazines. I've modified some mid caps so they only hold 40 rounds (33% more than real because BB are not accurate and you need to fire more to hit something). All I do is cut down the magazine spring and space the rear with BB. Gives me a free replacement spring and makes the BB feed so much more aggressive. Way more reliable feeding.
@@DaveSmith-cp5kj I use the Evike BAMF low caps and they are nice, and I’m pretty sure they aren’t discontinued, they are picky about working in different guns tho.
@@saltybutsain6348 I see the BAMF but I don't see the low cap variants. I mean I can mod mids to lows so I guess it is superfluous but not enough people talk about low caps.

I think one of the big things voting for GBBR's is the sense of realism you get from them. The basic layout of the gun and the weight distribution is a lot like the real steel counterpart (some even share components), as well as the procedure to field strip and clean it. GBBRs have recoil which means they handle differently from AEGs, and obviously, the bolt works as it should.
They're used a lot in training scenarios for military forces because their handling is so similar to the real deal.
The military do not use airsoft rifles to simulate in training scenarios, whoever told you that is wrong. The military use blank firing rounds during training and sometimes live rounds.
@@cyanidegoose "The military" is not a singular unit. Some forces will choose to use blank firing and others may use GBBRs for training. Blank firing is expensive so those are going to be used where all aspects of realism are crucial.

Lol that ending (gonna be a bit of a long comment)
Also agreed 100%. Gbbrs aren’t for everyone. FOR SURE. They’re maintenance needy, temperamental on weather, and you’re at a severe firepower disadvantage compared to AEG users. And you have to field strip them after every game. But ever since I got to use some of them in game at my local CQB field, it is hard to go back to AEGs. Very hard. Gbbs are just straight up fun, and they do what Airsoft guns are supposed to do: mimic the real thing as much as possible, bring the realism without having to have a firearm (if you don’t have a real one for some reason or don’t feel like hittin the range), and you get to experience all that with them in game. And when something breaks it’s a helluva lot easier to disassemble and fix than an AEG gearbox. Great training platforms too to get an idea of what the manual of arms is like on the real one. Cause of them I knew what I was doing when I shot my first AR15 and M9. I wish there was more innovation to bringing Airsoft guns more realistic AND reliable at the same time, cause for the past couple years it’s felt like the community’s not been about how cool and realistic the guns are, but more so of whose speed trigger dong is bigger. Sorta sad to me that it’s changed to that more so this last year than ever. Now at shot shows all I’m seeing is mostly M4s with super high speed phone mosfets and shit and honestly that stuff I could care less about. Now if we got a Galil Ace gbbr series, that’d give my firearm enthusiasm a mass erection lol.
Perfectly said. I also feel the reason people start dropping out of airsoft is they lose the realism and consequentially lose interest. Also when you focus purely on performance, you care a lot more about "winning" than the process, because you feel, "hey, my gun is awesome, I should be doing awesome".
Personally I want WE to make a Kel Tec RDB or RFB. I mean, they already have the PA-15 licence from Kel Tec, I'm sure they would be willing to sign another for the bullpup. I would also settle for a Tavor X95.
Dave Smith amen to that. People who only care about performance most of the time only care about winning or getting the best of their opponent which isn’t a bad thing to want to be competitive, but at the same time Airsoft is about playing solider with toy guns essentially lmao for me just shooting, using the gear, and reloading the guns themselves is a huge part of it for me. I hardly care about how many kills I get at the end of the day but it is cool if I do get a few lmao
And yeah! I wouldn’t mind seeing either rifle. I just want to see WE get the rest of their H&K modeled guns licensed so that they can be sold here in the states, I want the MP5 and G39C (G36C) gbbr. Also the X95 would be dope as hell too. It boggles me we haven’t seen a high end one yet all we have is that crappy low power aeg one

@@ustaz_abu_jan then go to boring AEG 😂
It's not like I am broke or anything.
I like the stippled foregrip idea
That perspective you have of wanting more realism vs efficiency as a result of playing the game for so long explains the beauty of gbb’s
Joule creep:
Basically, when you shoot with gas/hpa, if you use a light weight bb, the bb gets accelerated so fast that it leaves the barrel before all the enery is imparted into it. So there's "extra" air/gas being used/released which is wasted.
Imagine a bullet so light that it leaves the barrel before all the gunpowder gets burned, basically you are wasting propellant.
Now, because this is caused by the weight of the bb, if you use a heavier weight one, it will take longer to accelearte and thus it will remain in the barrel longer, takin full advantage of the gas/air.
So if before you had 70-80% of the energy going into the .2 bb. With a .28 you get 100% of the energy.
So an AEG may shoot:
370fps with .2 @ 1.27J
314fps with .28s @ 1.27J
So it drops in velocity becsuse the same energy is being used in both.
BUT with gas you may have:
370fps with .2 @ 1.27J
BUT
360fps with .3 @ 1.81J
So if during a game a kid were to say "hey, thatls hurting a bunch" and a ref cronos your gun during a game, you are shooting under the legal limit (and during a game they wont make you unload a mag to check you're using .2s)
Thats the gist. Gas/air may be being wasted, so a heavier bb accelerates slower, and gets more of that enegrh transfered into it.
6:48 respect. A lot of training I do now is from stuff I've seen on trexarms
I love GBB, it's expensive but that doesn't stop me from playing with it and enjoying it
I do have 2 GBB Guns. M9 Pistol and MP7. Sure they need more attantion and cost alot. But i like the realism and the feeling. I dont care about having shitload of bullets in the mag. I got everything over time, since i am not a rich person either ^^

GHK, no mention of GHK brand, c'mon guys. Seriously though, GHK is an amazing gun out of the box.
The only GHK gun worth buying is the AUG. Otherwise WE all the way with the RA-Tech steel triggers. You save hundreds on the magazine costs, but get the same performance. For the AK, the WE AK is actually superior because you get that full juicy bolt travel. Slower ROF, but not noticable. Could also be nice because the ROF is slow enough some fields will let you use full auto on semi auto games.
@@DaveSmith-cp5kj I agree. The WE platform M4 leaves something to be desired in terms of looks, but the money I save from mags is enough to get me new forged receivers and whatnot (if I were to buy GHK or TM mags). 300 CAD for the upper and lower, which is about the savings worth from getting 6 WE mags instead of GHK.
I have also noticed that a slower ROF and that full bolt travel actually gives you significantly more felt recoil. The weight distribution tilts the gun in a way that feels pretty awesome.
@@samuelpettington2241 I put a real AR-15 buffer and the recoil is almost identical to my real AR (just minus the muzzle climb from blast, although if you put a silencer on the end, it does feel pretty similar to a silenced rifle that isn't overgassed.
In winter I just put in the original aluminum buffer. I haven't felt the need to go into forgings, but I do have some 80% AR receivers ready to mill for the WE if my OEM lower ever breaks. There was one guy on the airsoft sniper forms that built a near 100% WE using AR parts, it was really cool (but expensive).
Since you are in Canada I don't know what your firearm part availability is like.
I hear the GHK, G&P, Western Arms mags are more gas conservative, but at the same time they have that really stupid feed lip loading design I hate. I really like the WE loader, it feels like using a stripper clip.
@@samuelpettington2241 I should add you can also just fill the aluminum buffer with lead shot or pour lead inside. Brings the weight up to almost the same as a real AR buffer if you can't get a real one.
@@DaveSmith-cp5kj that sounds like a neat idea, getting the real AR receivers to work on a WE. Unfortunately the CBSA has been stopping AR parts from entering Canada for a period of time now (it's a cluster fuck atm lol) so getting receivers for an AR platform would get me on a list haha. Most if not all those parts are being sold outside the country.
I'd probably try to get the real buffer just because it has a counterweight(?) Inside that helps reduce bolt bounce (at least what I've seen on some VFCs or something. Not sure if my WE has that issue), but that lead idea is very interesting too.
There is no other better feeling than to play with GBBR

This is why I run a tippmann m4, I can’t afford to run an actual gbbr, but I love having recoil
how long and how you liking the tippmann? I have a old ass A5 for slinging paint that still works like a champ. Been thinking of picking up a m4 for airsoft...
86azarate I’ve had mine for just over two years, and it’s a v1. The only issue I’ve ever had with mine was the hopup screw stripping. Luckily they no longer use a tiny hex screw to adjust HopUp in the v2, which is great because now you only have to use that tiny screw to disassemble the HopUp assembly. Overall I love it and would totally recommend it. Recoil is great, sound is amazing and it’s reliable as hell, as long as you get the v2, which is the version that comes with the mlok rail, and is the only one in stock on evike.
Welp your first point doesn't make much sense to me, most, if not all AEG's sound different when dry firing, and it's very noticeable, so unless hearing is a problem I don't really understand that point at all
I was thinking that myself.
Maybe for a person used to it. I just got into airsoft and every now and then I had to fire the ground just to make sure I was still shooting something. Pretty sure it will sound different when you dry fire, but if you're running around shooting, it helps if your gun just stops dry firing
Yeah but this guy has been playing 13 years, on most guns once you’ve shot them a bit you know the second you are out, gun will sound twice if not three times louder depending on the gun. Only guns I’d say are hard to tell when you are out is trishot shotguns cause you can waste a pump or two if you aren’t counting your shots but even then the more time you spend with your gun the better you will be and the more you’ll know about it’s ins and outs
Convinced and you’re my favorite gi tv host so far, rad
The first reason, which I share, it's avoidable using a Tokyo Marui Recoil Shock platform, that have the bolt stop function
The mags are 82 rounds as well, it's not the 35 of a GBB, but it's enough to get used to reload and not being penalized against 120/300 rounds enemies
TM Recoil with 0.28 have exactly 1j
Said so? I'm using a Tokyo Marui MWS Z system GBB, and I love it... it's accurate, it's reliable, works on low temperatures and the only upgrade I did to it was installing a Laylax hop-up arm, so it can lift 0.30 easily (it goes up lifting 0.36 no prob) and it's FUCKING AMAZING
I love this guy
You’ve been playing for 13 years and you don’t know when you’re out of ammo in an aeg? Really? They make a different sound
Nicolas Bocchino i think his point is that sometime during a fight you might not even notice the sound difference or pay attention to that. The fact that the rm4 or gbb stop firing is a really good indicator so you dont dry fire.
Truly diferent it goes from squik squik squik to ik, ik, ik
Yea they do. It sounds hollow. I've only been playing going on 2 years and even I know when I out of bbs in a mag within 2-4 shots depending on how fast I'm shooting
@@TacticoolVIKINGBeard i just played my first game 2 months ago and could tell
@@emptychamber544 yea I was able to figure it out by the end of my first day. Then I would train for it since I figured it would be useful to practice reloads. I went through like a 4000 ct bottle of bbs to train it and reloads
on the joule creep. if your field chronos with a light bb and you play with a heavy weight, its your responsibility to find the joule limit of that field and then tune your gun to be at that joule WITH the bb you play with. Field limit might be 400 with a .2 (1.49 J) so with a .32 you'll want your gun shooting 315fps (1.47j) . Whats really good about gas guns is they get more efficient with heavier bbs so you can crank the gas flow down and get really great shot to shot consistency.
Also people will underestimate you if your gun is shooting at like 320 on .2s and be confused when your gun can snipe them from across the map with .32s lol.
Let’s be honest here, only real reason why anyone runs gbbrs is because they want to have the real thing, but their shit state gun laws says no (im talking about you CA).
*coughs* in New Yorker, I mean I guess you're right...
FL here, perfectly good access to guns, but GBBr's are nice because I can shoot in my backyard and not have to pay the exorbitant range fees that all the ranges in my area charge. Less noise, less cost, and I only have to go as far as my backyard, not a 30+ minute drive.
SWITS Feral yeah I recognize the pros and perks to owning a gbbr (used to own several we m4s and a vipertech), but I was merely poking fun at CA’s ridiculous laws lol. Now if I can get some land here in Texas...🤔
And a ton of countries....also forbid fire arms of that kind.
Or in a country you cant have the real thing like Liku Tactical in Japan
I've only run Gbb for the past 6 Years!
Great video! Im looking to get into gbbr to train carbine fundamentals at home instead of going to the range - reloads, target acquisition, low ready drills, etc... Ill probably shoot 1000rds each month. I just want something reliable. Any gbbr brands to stay away from? Any immediate upgrades or parts I should expect to replace due to wear?
stay away from WE
Matrix makes a good one.
My first gun was a Emg kac pdw gbb m2 and the long barreled version and warning if you get that gun: get an adjustable fps nozzle, mine shot 440 fps on my first game and I will order one, other than that I love it

They sell black gas here in Ireland at a few places but as far as im aware "black gas" is just high pressure propane so I'm not sure what all the fuss is about.
Red gas on the other hand is some sort of refrigerant and apparently quite illegal since it fucks up the atmosphere.
gbbr are ok
He flinches when he shoots 😂😃👍🍹
As long as players in the game are honest with how they play, GBB provides a more simulated experience.
Even better than folks running single shot games like full auto with HPA and those DSG MOSFET Blah Blau blab.
Despite weather and political factor, and if u gonna run like a whole day game. AEG is better for carrying ammo and batteries.
Ho Tam obviously plus colder climates play a major role too
Damn, Western Arms one of the low key OGs
GBB L85 Gang wya
Young Buck are those just as shit as they are in real steel? 😂
