I also heard that she chose the music. And she did not have to do chemistry read with Justin Baldoni, probably because she's producer, so maybe that's why it felt off. I really don't want to be a hater but the arrows seem to be pointing towards her. The dialogue is not hers, though, sounds like the screenwriter is not very good
Completely agree on Blake's constant laughing / cracking jokes / take on the character. It didn't make ANY sense for multiple scenes. Almost everyone else was "normal" in the film and her character was random. I think a lot of the weird characterization is due to Blake taking control of lots of decisions she shouldn't have. I.e the music and wardrobe. I think Justin did the best he could but the films messaging is almost buried in the need for it to be a romantic comedy esque film- per Blake and promo
I feel like the rooftop scene was meant to be awkward.. I myself am a doctor; you are expected to be kind and composed. This guy throwing a tantrum and then telling you that he’s a neurosurgeon would’ve seemed like sarcasm.. and blakes character is also attracted to this man at this time; so she would’ve been awkward and giggly anyways. Also; ryle is a intense character, lily thought she was in a romcom until she wasn’t.
*Unpopular opinion* (only seen the movie don't know the book) Lilly Bloom is a pretty selfish and abusive person to begin with. To start of her "relationship" with Atlas (simp/goovy) is her basically sexually and emotionally abusing a homeless guy. It's giving Jada Pinkett Smith; (I wanted to help someone who's emotionally vulnerable/but also I want to stick a penis I outpower in every way into my vagina so I feel strong) Then her "relationship" with Ryle. Ryle came forth that he just wanted to have sex and that's it. She did not accept that. She wanted a relationship and put this guy who is obviously a bit of a nerd (neurosurgeon) in emotional blackmail position. Then when it backfires, she acts like the victim. Even though she has a history of emotionally abusing people for her own satisfaction. Of course she retroactively turns accidents into abuse when she feels like she wants to jump onto another emotional supply for her narcissism. She even ends up stealing his child. So yeah personal responsibility seems to be her kryptonite. Also she seems way older then her sexual partners. Which is a little strange, I don't know why these men keep falling for this florist that doesn't take any responsibility for any of her actions. Even let her father die without seeing him. Even though that man stayed with her awful mother for her his entire live. I might not understand anything that this movie is about because I haven't read the book. But what I saw was a woman retroactively trying to chance every situation because she doesn't want any responsibility. It made me think of Rambo. In the sense that all his murders don't matter because he was right to want to travel on foot in the beginning of the movie. So simpleton porn. But I could be totally be wrong tell if I am. _Again I just saw the movie,_ and it was weird seeing it.
I LOVE this take!!!! Like she was completely oblivious to her OWN storyline until she had clarity/breakthrough. Like it could altogether speak to how the trauma clouded and impaired her judgement. I love this POV. Ty for sharing.🫶🏾✨

Those outfits were ATROCIOUSSSS !!! I didn't watch this movie but after seeing the trailer and cast interviews (mainly Blakes) you're led to believe this is a Rom-Com and not a movie talking about DV
@jenmurphy6343 Blake delivers this line about Maraschino cherries that is completely out of left field, has absolutely NOTHING to do with what is going on in the scene or what the characters were talking about, and is delivered in a dead-pan (very "Deadpool", very Ryan-esque) way, which is why I believe that is the line everyone is talking about. It was such a non-sequitor and never paid off to anything that it took me out of the scene and stuck in my mind. Points for being memorable, I guess 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
I watched this with my gf, and she read the book, but the rooftop WAS SO AWKARD I looked at her like “you read this?” And laughed but when it Was getting dark I was like “oh shit you read this?” She kinda got tense so I held her hand but the acting is good really good in my opinion 8/10 romcoms are not my thing but loved it
I saw the movie yesterday. I would describe it as Sweet Home Alabama meets The Devil Wears Prada with a splash of Sleeping With the Enemy. And yes.. the 3 don’t blend well!
Its a white Tyler Perry movie. Think about it ! What is really different, from divorce in black and this. Its just under developed plotlines and no character has real depth...

This is stemming from the book itself, which was only exacerbated by its depiction in the movie, but Lily Bloom's whole "I opened a florist shop" sequence at the beginning felt EXACTLY like I was playing one of those "Merge" mobile games 😅 Like, the one called Love & Pies, in particular, comes to mind. It felt so cliché and fantasy wish-fulfillment that, if I hadn't already read it in the book, would have pulled me right out of the movie. Sooo many things from the movie would have pulled me out of it, in fact, if I hadn't been privy to the full context of the scenes. Neither the book or the movie are great, but at least they mean well
Oh, I started that show on Amazon Prime! What I had watched so far was really good. Thanks for reminding me to go back and continue watching it. Weirdly enough, both that show and this movie involve growing flowers.
I agree. For me it’s such a shame that Black Lively played the character because in the books Lilly was only 23 years old and it’s such an important detail in the context of domestic violence🥺

The different acting has an explanation. Justin was acting on a Drama about domestic violence, Blake was acting a romcom

I think Ryan’s … “creative liberties” ruined the rooftop scene
I’d love to see what that scene was supposed to be.

Yup. Taylor Swift and Blake are BFFs. That’s why the music was there.
I keep saying this but I'll say it again. THE BOOK IS WRITTEN BADLY SO THE MOVIE'S TONE IS WEIRD!

most of the outfit in the movie look like fishermen outfit which is funny considering shes a florist
Its a bad movie...in my opinion, the show "the lost flowers of alice heart" deal with the same subject WAY BETTERRRR

I cringed so much in the beginning and *BOOM* it got crazy bad really fast
you sing quite well and you are pretty
Was she high?
Ma'am you're extremely gorgeous
Thank you❤️
