Once the LUT is imported onto your camera from the SD card, can it be erased on the card or do you have to keep it there? Thanks for doing this video!!
When viewing the preview LUT in camera - do you need to make a combined LUT that transforms AND adds the creative look, since you can't stack LUTs in camera?

If we enable lut display for slog3 on the fx30, will it affect the actual footage??
I always find it interesting how others set up there camera - and still get great results. I prefer to use Gamma Display Assist so that I can use the same exposure values across all of my Sony cameras. Dial my grey card in at 41% IRE and I’m done. I’ve got a video on my channel about Gamma Assist that explains my approach. New sub here!

Can I ask a question to some awesome knowledgeable commenter here? I’m super confused about something….
I have an FX30. To shoot in log, I understand I how to change it in “log settings,” yada yada yada.
But what’s the deal with Picture Profile via Exposure menu? Can’t I also shoot in log going this route? When I change to log shooting in log settings, picture profile is greyed out. Is picture profile just so you can plug in an additional monitor? Can someone explain this to me? Sorry for being a dingbat. 🙏🙏
Yeah, don’t worry I had the same questions popping into me once I got this camera.
You can shoot in Log following the Log shooting or Picture Profile route. The “Log shooting” route is something that is built in on camera and is the route I prefer, also the one I’m showing here on the video.
There’s lots of Picture Profile routes tutorials here on RUclips, and it is basically by letting the “Log shooting” off and just managing it over the picture profile by adjusting settings.
I prefer going for something that is how it was planned to used on this camera but heavy Sony users prefer the OG way.
You can always use whatever feels better for you :)

Hey! you can definitely make a feature film with this camera and looks great for a big screen. Related to lenses it can vary depending on your needs

Slog 3 will always give you more flexibility towards color correction, that’s the reason of why its so popular between filmmakers :)

Hey, do you apply the Sony conversion LUT from their website? If yes, do you use it as the initial step or after making basic corrections like shadows and whites? Also, do you recommend placing this LUT on an adjustment layer or directly onto the clip?
Heeey! Yes, I use the Luts Sony has available for the FX30 for conversion.
I usually apply it into an adjustment layer and then I do minor corrections and later I apply a color grading layer on top. So it usually has 2 adjustments layers, one for Rec 709 conversion and minor corrections and on top the color grading one

hey thanks for this informative help, a few days earlier i just figured it out on my own how to use the rec709 LUT. And i have just one Question.. will this LUT which is activated while shooting, be on this Clip in the end? or is it just while shooting? I'm just not sure if this LUT will be burned in the clip. It is incomprehensible why no one explains this important thing in videos, I had certainly seen 100 videos and you are the first person to explain it. At least I did it myself Thanks! I subscribed
Heey, the Lut just works as a preview while shooting, it won’t be embedded to the final video :)
