Congratulations!! What caliber or rifle was that?
It's is a custom 7rem mag, 175gr ABLR @ 3040 fps. Pretty good medicine for these size of animals
@@lonsurez83 Interesting to hear it was a 7mm Rem mag.
I just come across this New Mexico Oryx hunting today and had no idea about this.
I spent like 1 hour looking into it today so for 2025 I am applying for a tag.
I understand it is one tag only for life, so I am taking no chanced if I draw a tag them bringing the long-range custom Brevex Mauser in 8 mm - 378 Wby magnum with a Leupold 6.5x20 scope.
Do you have recommendations on Unit areas to look into ?
Hunting an oryx is not a once in a lifetime hunt unless it's on the white sand missile range. You can hint these animals 9 months out of the year off range. Any of the units that surround the missile range have oryx. I would start buy getting onx and looking around on that to puck out some spots to scout
@@lonsurez83 Thank you so much for that info and I was greatly confused on the other videos of New Mexico Oryx hunting where people saying that thy had hunted and shot 4 to 8 Oryx over the years.
So, the one tag in a lifetime is just for a specific unit.
I am from Alaska for 30 years and guided brown bear - Yukon Moose - Caribou hunts for this time, now I had to come to Oregon to care for my mother very deep into dementia so I miss all my hunting because all of Oregon is either closed lumber company lands or the state has closed off public lands and any places to hunt which are few these places have become parking lots for hunters and if some animal is shot it becomes fights - guns pointed and people all in who really shot and killed the animal then we got swamped with the bus loads of criminal illegal immigrant Biden invaders who somehow have got their hands on guns and used the $80,000 of tax payer funds they all get to buy need trucks so they are all over the forest roads and they are dangerous criminal.
I was looking at hunting Utah but now I am going to look for all info for Oryx hunting.
I can transport the Oryx meat back to Oregon the same as I bring fish down from Alaska in a small freezer and gas generator powdering the freezer in the back or the truck .
I can actually from meat off the bone to the freezer in the back of the truck.
You can put meat hunks in plastic bags, so you don't end up with a block of frozen meat stick together.
Nice job! Was that with the Barnes, or the Accubomb?
175 accubond LR,
Stoned him! What an amazing shot! Good eating right the boys!
