Struggling on Carnivore? It's The Protein

  • This is why you're struggling on the carnivore diet. Not everyone can handle that much protein, nor does anyone need it. Some people have higher stomach acid than others, and these are the people that tell you just eat beef, water and salt and you'll heal. Not everyone can thrive doing that.

I'm laughing because it was years ago I suggested to you to be careful of eating too much protein on the keto diet. I doubt you remember that. And when you went on the carnivore diet, i thought "well, he's going to realize this protein thing sooner or later" and moved on, so to speak. But hey, you are realizing it now, and that's great. And if you had heeded my warning years ago, you wouldn't have had all those great videos on your channel haha. The other thing that no one seems to get (and maybe it's because of my Irish genes) you can eat potatoes in moderation. A goldmine of minerals and vitamins, and a healthy carb. Put lots of fresh butter in it mashed, some pepper, a little salt and voila! Or cooked any way. So good luck on this new low-to-moderate protein regimen. You are moving in the right direction. Insulin is the storing mechanism of the body. To store anything in your body you need to secrete insulin including fats. Only two things trigger insulin and that is sugar and protein. Fat does not trigger insulin, so if you are mainly eating fats, first of all you wont absorb it into your cells, thus you will be starving yourself, this is why keto works for weight loss, as you are just not absorbing much of the fats your are eating. The reason most likely you are experiencing all of these symptoms is that you have a leaky gut still, and undigested plant and animal proteins are getting thru and getting inside your bloodstream which is not suppose to happen, which then triggers your immune system, so you are creating oxydation all day long by fighting what you eat. Fats do not have that effect as the body does not attack it, so you have less oxydation coming from your immune system, so you are reacting less and some of your symptoms like your skin issues goes away, but you haven't addressed the main issue which are the holes in your intestinal track that needs to be sealed up. You should may think about having your bowels checked by a gastrointeroligist to see what could be causing your constipation.

This observation came many years ago from our old friend, Sigmund Freud. It's outlined in his book, Society and It's Discontents. I asked my doctor a while back, "why do I feel so bad? What is this bad feeling I have all the time" After a full examination he said, "It's your life that you are feeling!" Well, oh boy, keep on keepin' on Mr. Vegetable Police. I suffer from super slow digestion and all the fun stuff you also got while eating fiber...but I've learned that with fiber the trick is smaller portions at each meal. Not smaller fiber amounts...but like smaller food portions all together. I'd like to believe that you would have succeeded in eating like Cara if you hadn't started eating such huge portions at each meal once you got home from Vegas. I understand you wanted to fast & that you ate huge meals during your eating window so you could get in all the nutrients, but your gut microbiome probably wasn't ready to handle those huge meals yet. I remember you showed us a salad from your what I eat in a day video (when you got back from vegas) and I thought to myself "holy crap! that salad is enough to feed 6 people!"
Your videos just seemed SO happy & energetic in Vegas & just after when you arrived home...was it the food?? Or maybe just getting out of Toronto for an adventure?

YES!!!!! My path has been same as yours (but maybe a bit worse.. ending in seizures… strokes… loss of teeth.. etc. 🤦🏻‍♀️) … you’re like my male twin. And even all the food diet trials. Every single one of them.. and yep.. I have even the urine therapy still around. What I’m finding now? Insulin, insulin, insulin… i wasn’t even that interested in the insulin drama info until I almost accidentally starting taking berberine… and wondered how in the world one little pill could make me feel so normal when I was close to dead 24/7 for so long. Well… berberine finally ended up being too harsh for my still raw intestines, stomach, duodenum, etc… Had to stop. But I couldn’t shake that what Berberine did… working with INSULIN issues.. seemed to suddenly cure all five thousand symptoms???? !!!! HOW?!!! So now, I’m using a touch of oregano oil.. killing off bad bacteria every morning with ginger root in hot water… some artichoke extract for liver… still no sugar… no thanks… but following glucose goddess idea of first a little veggies.. then protein.. and finally any starch or carb or fruit at end. I’m eating mostly nutrient rich soup.. or a big luscious loaded salad.. runny eggs… and can’t believe how much better I’m doing. Supplements I can’t seem to give up; B1 with B2 twice a day 400mgs each 2x. Magnesium and extra potassium. (I didn’t realize people with stomach and colon issues need so much more potassium than most! I think we’re close!! We’re almost there!

If you've been sick that long and your body struggles that hard to maintain homeostasis, your adrenals are the number one problem that needs to be addressed. I was on my deathbed when I tried DHEA and all my problems went away... for two days. It gave me the hint I needed, so I then took an adrenal glandular in the morning, and one at night. On the third day I felt like my old self again. My body was finally able to regulate itself, so I went high carb. After 2 weeks all infections were completely cleared up, and after 3-4 months my severe illnesses were gone. I had high energy the whole recovery as I no longer had to manually adjust my blood sugar and electrolytes all the time. That's something your adrenals should be doing, but when we're sick for a long time, they get taxed. For me, I needed the whole gland, so must brands didn't work as they only use the cortex. I had success with Swanson's, as well as Natural Sources All Adrenal (not the other similar-sounding one). And one a day did nothing, but adding that second one in at night made all the difference in my case.

Thoughts: Bryan Johnson's reverse aging protocol involves 50% of his daily calories as OLIVE OIL. Purest high polyphenols or whatever they're called you can find. Maybe a great fat source for those vegan wanting to test the theory. Or maybe a raw eggs diet. Making the eggs reach the desired proteins, and then for the rest keeping only the yolks and combining with the olive oil (perhaps). I think that's what I'll do, with some delicious tamarindo. It follows the principle of the Essene's diet (all raw) and just like you I can't stand salads and nuts (and hours of preparation haha!).
