      Laura please look up the side effects of these weight loss drugs that are in the news lately. The side effect list is horrific including cancer. Back in the late 1980's there was a push of a Rx weight loss drug called Phen Phen (not sure if that's the correct spelling). Then a few years later there was a massive class action suit against this company for killing people. I feel these latest Rx weight loss drugs will head in the same direction.
      No one needs to be on those drugs have you seen Sharon Osborne...she looks so skinny with a huge head and looks sick now while being on these weight loss Drugs. Even her family told her to quite the weight loss drug.

    Laura and Chris, in Jan 2023 I came across your videos by chance. I was curious and I watched some of them and then I found a video where you showed Chris reversing Type 2 diabetes and losing weight. That started me on the carnivore lifestyle journey on Jan 12, 2023. I am a few weeks away from 1 year. It has profoundly changed my life for the better. Thank you both so much for getting the message out. I connected with Chris' story because mine is similar. I reversed by type 2 diabetes in less than 4 months and was off of all the many medications in about 5 weeks. I lost 80 pounds in that time too. This week I hit 180 (I too am 6 feet tall), a weight I hadn't experienced sin e I was in my early 20s (I am 50 now). I had been morbidly obese for 25 years. My metabolic health has been restored. I feel great! Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with severe stenosis of my aortic value this summer, which I was born with and that caused my aortic root to swell to the point of being an aneurysm, which is a serious condition. I was struggling to decide to have surgery. My 23 year old daughter told me that she thinks I was meant to find carnivore so that I would be healthy enough to have this open heart surgery. Almost 2 weeks ago, I had the surgery and it was a great success. Had I not found carnivore, my doctor said my risks would have been high and the surgery would have been very difficult and taken more than it did. I was told at the hospital that I had the lowest hA1C of any open heart surgery patient in their 14 year history. My A1C was 5.1 tested just before the operation.
    Thank you both so much! One day I would like to thank both of you in-person. God bless you both!

    I learned, in my 4th week of Carnivore, that OMAD wasn't working for me. 1 big meal a day at 1:00 pm-ish left me full all the rest of the day and night and into the following day. I was still full, so couldn't eat much the next day. I wasn't getting enough nutrition and I stalled.....So I switched to 2 meals a day and that is working much better. Every one is different, so you have to see what works best for you. Im doing great! Lots of energy, BP NORMAL without my meds! And at age 68, I must say, I m looking much more restful and my once girlish glow is back. 😊 Great video! Thank you.

      Dr. Jordan Peterson interviewed a researcher who said that the carnivore diet induces autophagy in the same way as fasting, so by doing carnivore, fasting is unnecessary. I don't do fasting, but I've been losing a pound every two or three days. I'm hoping autophagy is occurring, too.

I am not a moderator either and not a fan of the dogmatic extremes in this community. Kent Carnivore puts out amazing mini documentaries without telethons...lol. Also, make sure you are watching Carnivores that have actually lost weight, became healthy, and most importantly, kept it off. You guys look great!

    This is my biggest challenge! I had VSG almost 9 years ago so am only able to eat 4 oz’s at a time. I find I keep cooked burgers, meat sticks, hard boiled eggs, chaffel & meat sandwiches as well as cheese readily available. I eat a bit (1/2 burger or chaffel sandwich) then about 4 hrs later eat a bit more. I might eat several times a day typically late afternoon & evening but no way can I do Omar or Fasting.

    I can’t eat as much as you’ve suggested in the past.. and I didn’t lose weight either. I also don’t lost weight when I eat a ton of butter like others. I have to stick to 1300-1500 cal a day to lose weight at 210 lbs. that’s worked for the last 60 lbs so I encourage others not to be discouraged if what’s suggested doesn’t work.

    This video is the first time I’ve ever heard someone address the fact that having bariatric surgery of any kind will tend to need to eat 3 to 4 times a day. I lost 60 pounds, then started intermittent fasting and haven’t lost a pound since and it’s been two years, so now I am going to go back to eating at least three times a day. I was tracking calories and found that I was not getting enough averaging 900 cal per day because I was not able to consume more food in one setting.

    Thanks Laura and Chris! This was great! I just started prioritizing protein and switched to leaner beef and adding having whole eggs (as opposed to just yolks), and a can of sardines every day. I think that I can build some muscle and lean out, with this adjustment. I recently increased overall nutrient intake, because I felt that I was under eating. However, I gained a few pounds back. I think it was because I was eating a lot of fatty meat with butter on top. Now, I just need to eat enough because protein is filling, and I need to make sure I don't skimp on fat intake.

      I agree, whole eggs are a must with carnivore. Regarding the leaner meats you had mentioned.. everyone is different, I get that. But I actually started with leaner cuts of red meat and over time experienced serious digestive issues. Personally if I were you I would continue with the fattier cuts and cut back on the butter. If you like and can eat small amounts of diary, spreading goat or blue cheese over red meat is a nice hack. I do that sometimes too as I struggle with eating plain ground beef by itself. Good luck!

      @@rjo8500Thank you for your experiences and suggestions! I'm kind of doing what you mentioned with not going too lean, all the time, and I added Bleu cheese to the mix. Thanks again!

      I put butter on everything I can to promote the leptin hormone that makes you feel satisfied. The lean meats, like chicken, just don’t get leptin going on their own - it’s fat that does that work. I eat a lot of eggs too as they help make me feel full. Good luck - I really hope you get it sorted.

    I stalled after dropping almost 40# for months, but I felt better so I just continued. Now, I’ve gained 12#! I’m trying to switch up my food. I’m waking up at 1-2am wide awake and I cannot get back to sleep. 😢 my hair is super thin too. I usually eat 2 eggs and a protein cooked in butter. Ribeye with a side of chicken drumsticks. I’ve started cutting my steaks in half and adding a tiny slice of butter and started putting a pat of burnt butter in my 1 coffee. I’m sticking to this no matter what. This is month 10! ❤

      I had similar symptoms as you especially with the thinning hair. Whats frustrating with the carnivore community is with every ailment its suggested to eat more fat and electrolytes which im sure is true. Ive started eating more pickled veggies and stewa for GAPs diet and feel better. I think all meat is too restrictive

      That was happening to me too I wasn’t eating enough protein! Track what you’re eating and calories. I didn’t for the first 2 years of carnivore. If you have enough fat on your body you don’t need to eat so much fat butter will just make you gain weight. Also, you can try eating much leaner meats. That’s what I do now and I’m losing weight again. I do ground beef, 93/7 I eat scrambled eggs. You should eat more than two eggs that’s really not enough, you may be under eating. I also do sirloin now with no butter ribeyes are a treat for me now, and so is bacon.

    • @LauraSpath
      @LauraSpath  8 месяцев назад +8

      Agreed, when I wasn't eating enough protein my hair was falling out. Eating only 2 eggs and a half a ribeye in a day is drastically undereating. There are also things that Carnivore can't fix, there can be underlying issues NOT caused by food. Carnivore just eliminates any issues that are being caused by food (which is most metabolic issues), but it's not magic and can't cure everything.

    I've been watching yours and other's videos on this subject and I think I'm about ready to pull the trigger! What do you know about people with high cholesterol/high blood pressure doing this diet? I really think it would help my husband, but he says his cardiologist will pitch a fit.

    • @caseyl2313
      @caseyl2313 8 месяцев назад

      @marleneflanagan7137 My husband was taking blood pressure medicine and we recently started carnivore and he blood pressure is steadily decreasing.... He is going to have to stop taking the medicine. Fat doesn't cause high cholesterol, sugar does. Search RUclips for videos on the topic...especially anything by Dr. Chaffee and Dr. Ken Berry. Give carnivore a try...give your body the chance to heal itself. It works! Carbs, sugar, vegetables are killing us. Personally, I feel so much better since only eating meat and eggs. Constipation is gone, painful bloating - gone! Give it a try!

      Hi Marlene - If you can, find a few videos to share with him from Philip Ovadia, Bret Scher or Nadir Ali. They are all cardiologists in the carnivore space. Also Dr. Cywes and Dr. Ken Berry while not cardiologists are extremely learned on the science of low carb diets, cardiovascular, metabolic and overall health. He also doesn't have to 'tell' his cardiologist in so many words. He can just say he's cutting back on processed food and carbs which I'm pretty sure any cardiologist would like to hear. It is so helpful to be able to take this journey with my husband so I wish you the best of luck!

      This way of eating does help if you have metabolic syndrome. It may not move cholesterol numbers the way you feel they need to go, however it lowered my a1c and triglycerides a lot which is very important--for me, even though my cholesterol is much higher than most conventional docs want to see. Statins are way overrated. Big pharma likes it that way so they can make more money! Ancel Keyes had a faulty hypothesis and also skewed his study on cholesterol to "be" what supported his idea that cholesterol is bad for us. Our brains need cholesterol to function; they are 60% fat. You have to be your own advocate! Try this way of eating and see if it helps you. For high blood pressure, you should monitor your BP at home. If it drops dramatically, which it could, call the doctor and tell him you've lowered carbs, etc. He should be happy to lower BP meds!!

    I did this in 2021 and I'm still on the mostly carnivore diet. I'm not exactly 100% but close. I don't pretend to be an expert at any of this but I shed 52 pounds and kept it off. My biggest problem is definately getting enough protein. It's very hard for me.

    • @rjo8500
      @rjo8500 7 месяцев назад

      Congratulations! In the end results are what matter most. I too have to work harder at the protein game. I keep deviled or hard boiled eggs readily available in the fridge and also a cooked ribeye that I can cut and reheat to snack on. I do this because I want the optimal amount of daily protein but I’m unable to eat massive meals in one sitting. I also found starting my meals earlier in the day gives me more time to consume enough protein. I try to hit three meals a day which seems to work best for me and my weightlifting. Good luck!

How does carnivore affect your cholesterol/ldl/hdl/etc? I'm a large guy (6'5" 340lbs) and I'm super interested in it,but I do have higherish numbers. They're not bad enough that my dr recommends medicine or anything, but I'm afraid of consuming this diet and having those numbers shoot up .

    Sounds to me your more into the "Atkins" type "diet instead of the "Keto" type diet. Meat fats will fill you up, make you want to stop eating. I did the Atkins diet years ago and it failed for me, I think because I didn't feel full. The Keto type diet has worked for me for the last 6 years and I've been able to keep my weight off. I contribute this to the Fats in my food. Also I do intermittent fasting or OMAD (one meal a day)type diet. This allows your body to heal, which it cant do while its digesting food. Every once in a while I do a multiple day fast, sometimes for 5 days. It works wonders for your health. Kudos for your weight loss and if its been 5 1/2 years, it surely works for you. Thank you for this informative video. If you want a more technical explanation of why keto is better than Akins watch Dr. Jason Fung videos. He explains this in a very easy to understand way.
