I remember watching you guys since I was in middle school, I remember that art used to be a hobby of mine before I found your channel, and you guys make me change the way my art was made, I started using and experimenting other art supplements that I could afford at the time! Now I’m studying art at college and I couldn’t be happier! So, thank you Steph and Adam for inspiring me, helping me improve and helping me find out what I wanted to study!!
Arrtx does have a marker variant called Oros with a brush nib. I think you guys should compare between the same category. Maybe compare the Alp markers with the old ohuhu, because took them years until they made the brush nib version.
Those plushies are amazing! Also Steph’s ideas are always so cool! Both of the art works turned out so goof thoo! Really loved the different compassions of the markers with the different art styles, as well as the test of pencil vs. fine liner test.
Arrtx has brush markers now! I have the pastel set in brush ("Oros" line) and the skin tone set in bullet nib ("Alp" like you have here) and very much prefer the brush set. Those bullets are too hard. I don't have any Ohuhu to compare, but Arrtx Oros are a VeRY valid budget-friendly marker if you're used to Copic.
ARRTX are definitely better in quality and design but Ohuhu are so juicy and reasonably priced for a beginner like me. It sucks that the ARRTX markers were so dry for you two. The artwork still looked awesome though :)
Edit: Oh my gosh those plushies are SO CUUUUTE! Pastel colors, green colors, warm or cool tone, no matter what brand, I need ALL colors! *EVERY SINGLE COLOR EVER!* ^o^ I will have a party the day you guys get that 150 Crayola crayon tower, and yes there are pastel colors in it. (Also i love the pink ones, they're almost like a faded neon pink or a pastel neon pink)
I got so much joy from Colin's narration (I need more of robot voice) and the hat alert. You should bring back Colin as an assistant!😂 I have so many unused/unfinished markers from my childhood that I'm trying to use up but I've definitely learned all my art skills and knowledge from you guys since I've only taken 1 proper art class and that was years ago and I've forgotten everything I learned.
You guys are like a breath of fresh air, you refresh my tired soul. Thanks for reviewing the pens, I think Ohuhu are way nicer with the brush nib. It's like night and day imho! Lol. God bless you both and all those you love. Have a great weekend guys!
Not markers related, but in the spirit of pastel art supplies, I did get a new pastel watercolor palette last week and I have been having a lot of fun with it! (So I guess pastel art supplies are at an all time rise!)
Loved the video guys, wanted to like it again if I could, so I'm leaving a comment. Love the chill vibe even though you are roasting art supplies XP Thank you for making the content!
I prefer brush nibs over chisel, but for me the bullet is the most important one. Luckily I get a brand of markers that does brush and bullet, but most brands do chisel with brush. So if I had to choose between brush or not in most conventional marker brands, I'd go cheap instead of brush.
Since I don't really care that much for brush nibs and prefer my pastels to actually be pastel I think I might like the Arteza better. But I do like how juicy the Ohuhu were
The schmincke are limited edition and I have found tend to separate from their binder in the tube (but are still lovely) Holbein added a pastel set to their regular artist watercolor line and they are amazing 😍😍😍
i do think the color range of the pastel Ohuhu set is a little strange, though, i still find myself using the pastel set more than my 120 set. i have a feeling they'll expand the range of pastel colors soon.
Interesting! I've been thinking about maybe buying some chisel-nibbed markers as they are cheaper, but I think you're right, brushes are easier to use :D And I think you both did great at showcasing the differences between these two brands :)
Hello, have you done a comparison of the better gray tone marker sets? I've seen mixed reviews of the ohuhu grey tones because their colour gradation is not coherent?
FIRST! Edit: I really enjoy your comparison videos and especially the marker reviews. I am so happy you have been enjoying the Ohuhu pastel set as much as I have and I agree they are very juicy and high quality markers. Those Arrtx pastels do look more pastel thou. I think Arrtx also have a line of markers with brush tip markers, just wit not as exiting of a packaging (Arrtx Oros) might be worth looking into.
So I watched a 3 year old video of yours where you set up a holbein gouache pallete, and added glycerin. I'm wondering how that worked out in the long run.
Hi @doodledate, I'm Gemma ( aka Lilo_might34 ) Im glad you enjoyed these, I have to say although these are out of my coin, I prefer Ohuhus 😅🤔 Love you both 💓
OMG ITS SO NICE TO MEET YOU GEMMA!! Thank you so much for sending us the markers to review, we had so much fun making this video. I got 2 new cat OC's too which is a mega bonus HAHA
My Arrtx markers were living under my bed for over a year. I pulled them out because I wanted to learn how to draw anime. They’re not dry. They’re just not bleeding everywhere like markers typically are. I was also easily able to get solid color out of them and I mostly was using the bullet tip side. So I don’t know how you had a hard time working with them when my lack of artistic skill was able to get down solid colors with these markers that were under my bed untouched for over a year🤷♀️ If I can get them to work well, then I feel they’re stupid proof
I think Arrtx actually have brush nib versions of these markers possibly. They have an Arrtx oros line which have a neat brush tip :D Though, the arrtx oros tend to be more difficult to blend than ohuhus, based on personal experience.
I like the colour of the Purratex the most but a brush tip is a deal breaker for me. I’d buy the biggest set of brush tips of ohuhu and then fill in the pastel gaps with copic
Arrtx definitely wins color wise (the colors Steph picked are GORGEOUS)! But Ohuhu do seem like the better quality markers, especially since they've got the brush nibs
I own both (granted I own the Oros version of Arrtx so they have the brush nib) and honestly there are just some colors I tend to gravitate more from one set to another. Like Ohuhu I will always grab their pastel blues. Arrtx? Their greens and oranges. Heck Artify's 80 set trumps them both in the variety of yellows. As for the bullet nibs-I honestly think Arrtx's are just harder (I do own the brown/yellow set in the bullet nib style). Cause I use the new Ohuhu's with the bullet nibs (I used Prisma and finecolours so I was used to using the bullet nib and just prefer them) and just the bullet nibs still have a slight flex to them. Arrtx are just super hard and that can make them feel extra dry (and why I've learned on how to just embrace using the chisel/broad tips)
I have been so tempted to try the arrtx pastel markers because I have some other arrtx supplies that I quite like. However, I have never liked the look of the bullet tip on the arrtx markers, and I LOVE the Ohuhu brush nibs. I was thinking about trying the arrtx pastel oros set which does have a brush tip, but I've been hesitating, cause they are more expensive that the bullet tip ones (and also they don't do the cool aesthetic packaging and it seems like they come in some weird reusable grocery bag that is honestly extremely ugly in its graphic design- I don't want to admit how much this is affecting my decision making).
I love how pastel the Arrtx are but the lack of brush nib is a definite dealbreaker. Also I have to say I love the little cat twins Steph came up with! Such a cute idea. Adam’s cheerleader also looks great I love her skirt.
I would have to agree about the cost of electricity. We have a prepaid meter and this time last year we paid around £10 a week - it sometimes went over into emergency but it usually happened on the day before we had money coming in so it could be topped up. Since February, it's doubled. We also only live in a small flat so I feel sorry for folks with kids or those who need to run machines because of a medical condition or disability that they have as their bills will be a lot higher.
you go adam, know the worth of your compliments!!! the fact that ohuhu hasnt sponsored yall yet with how much business youve given them over the years 👀
I think that she has difficulty describing the differences between colors, but I think in the past she took a color blind test and she has normal color vision
The ohuhu's pastel are kinda off the caps are pastel but the ink seems always greyish sadly The artxx Oros pastel set are light and really pastel they're awesome. About the quality since Oros are the premium from artxx there's no quality problem ~~ But if you're looking for real real pastels Artxx are the one ~~
It makes me so happy that adams anime girl in this video has a bit of a belly. I know it’s not much, but I just really like to see diversity in art like that.
Hm. The ARRTX ones are more pastel but could we PLEASE get some really washed out ACTUAL pastels??? You’d think they’d be all over that idea because it’s less pigment, therefore it’s gotta be less expensive to make.
Can I please adopt Cathulu as my new OC? I want a giant octopus cat to cuddle with! But seriously, both drawings are wonderful. Even though I don't know why everyone is so obsessed with pastels? I need bright colours that gouge my eyes out!
oof I can't stand the sound the arrtx markers are making on the paper ;A; it makes my skin crawl the same way Styrofoam does XP for that alone i'd go with ohuhu
A note on the caps it can be pretty difficult to create pastel plastics in an inexpensive way
That actually explains a lot. Thank you
And on top of that the cap colors are digitally made. You can’t expect the actual color of a marker to match something a computer created
I remember watching you guys since I was in middle school, I remember that art used to be a hobby of mine before I found your channel, and you guys make me change the way my art was made, I started using and experimenting other art supplements that I could afford at the time!

Yay! Nothing better than a Doodle Date video on a lazy Sunday afternoon 💓💓💓
Awww thanks for making us feel all wholesome!! 💓
I love how thorough you guys are about your comparison.
Ps, Adam just casually coloring super slick with those pastels for a lad who doesn't like them
Such pretty colors!! Pastel sets of art supplies are my favorite.
Agreed!! Pastels are a superior colour palette!
Thank You for always making me smile with your videos. They are all so wholesome!
Aaaaa thank you so much!! We both really appreciate the support
I keep getting distracted by the giant guinea pig plush, it's so cute!
its just you guys finally getting the cool pastel art supplies 2 years later :)
I use the Arrtx brand and they have brush tip markers and I love them!
I've been wearing more and more pastel colors this year.. so I agree with you, Steph!
I absolutely love your stuffed animals you've made! They look so good!
The Two toned effect turned out really good for Adams piece! I really love how it looks like she may be cast into a shadow on the Ohuhu markers
Those plushies are amazing!
Also Steph’s ideas are always so cool!
Both of the art works turned out so goof thoo!
Really loved the different compassions of the markers with the different art styles, as well as the test of pencil vs. fine liner test.
Love the video and the final drawings, but omg those little plush you made are so sweet
I'd watch a video of steph making felt plushies!
Me too!
Me three!
I love the ohuhu pastel set, great colour selection and a ton of neutrals
Arrtx has brush markers now! I have the pastel set in brush ("Oros" line) and the skin tone set in bullet nib ("Alp" like you have here) and very much prefer the brush set. Those bullets are too hard. I don't have any Ohuhu to compare, but Arrtx Oros are a VeRY valid budget-friendly marker if you're used to Copic.
Cathuhu and Purrtx! 🤣 Love it Steph 😂❤️
You guys are sooooo wholesome!! Exactly what I was needing in my life right now. Thank you 🥰
ARRTX are definitely better in quality and design but Ohuhu are so juicy and reasonably priced for a beginner like me. It sucks that the ARRTX markers were so dry for you two. The artwork still looked awesome though :)
Yes finally another Doodle Date. I look forward videos 👏👏👏🥰❤
Always a joy to have a doodle date with you two! Keep them coming! Thank you.
“Battle of the pastel markers!” Love it!
I'm so happy yall are posting on sundays
Edit: Oh my gosh those plushies are SO CUUUUTE!

Purrtex!!! Such a cute name. I'm so glad I have y'all in my life to help me smile.
I’m at work with nothing to do so this is perfect!
omg i'd love to see a plushie making video! love this
,those two blues for the eyes look totally different to me even after drying. 🤷🏻♂️ both art pieces look great though
Yeah they’re different
Left one is warm, right one is cold blue. Interesting that Steph thought they were similar, and Adam got it “right” :D
Watching doodle date while bed ridden with covid is suprisingly very nice
Get well soon!
I was planning on buying arrtx pastel markers, but now I'm more interested in the ohuhu ones. Thank you!!
Sunday's are the best day because I get to eat sweets 🍰☕ with my family AND doodle date posts videos 💖
Both pics are so cute 😍
Steph I only just realised we have the same glasses except mine a pink tinted in the frame x love your videos keep up the work xx
You guys are like a breath of fresh air, you refresh my tired soul. Thanks for reviewing the pens, I think Ohuhu are way nicer with the brush nib. It's like night and day imho! Lol. God bless you both and all those you love. Have a great weekend guys!
I love Ohuhu markers but I always swatch when using them, the caps are pretty inaccurate
Love seeing another video from my favorite power couple😎🥰💖
I just got a pack of pastel sharpies. They’re surprisingly good!
In adams drawing I can’t get over how the eyes are completely aligned! Otherwise though good job I loved the video as always!!!
I prefer brush nibs over chisel, but for me the bullet is the most important one.

So if I had to choose between brush or not in most conventional marker brands, I'd go cheap instead of brush.
Glad to know I have the right set by doodle date standards!! I have been eyeing that artx set though.. maybe I'll pick up the pink one still!! :)
Since I don't really care that much for brush nibs and prefer my pastels to actually be pastel I think I might like the Arteza better. But I do like how juicy the Ohuhu were
These markers aren't arteza, Arrtx are their own brand
Love the plushies Steph :D
The shocked gasp I let out when Steph said there are pastel Shmincke watercolors was embarrassingly loud, but omg I *need* them
The schmincke are limited edition and I have found tend to separate from their binder in the tube (but are still lovely) Holbein added a pastel set to their regular artist watercolor line and they are amazing 😍😍😍
@@HumdrumCurio ooo I’ll definitely check them out, thank you!
Non-doodle related but I love Adam’s outfit!!! It looks great!
i do think the color range of the pastel Ohuhu set is a little strange, though, i still find myself using the pastel set more than my 120 set. i have a feeling they'll expand the range of pastel colors soon.

They apparently have CARE BEARS CUTITOS now!!!
Hello, have you done a comparison of the better gray tone marker sets? I've seen mixed reviews of the ohuhu grey tones because their colour gradation is not coherent?
Heck yeah! Swatch time is best time!
Comment for the algorithm! Thanks for making these videos for us, guys!
Arrtx really do be putting the entire budget into the packaging not gonna lie...
FIRST!
Edit: I really enjoy your comparison videos and especially the marker reviews. I am so happy you have been enjoying the Ohuhu pastel set as much as I have and I agree they are very juicy and high quality markers. Those Arrtx pastels do look more pastel thou. ALMOST!!
Love the names of the cats. …… and the colours too
So I watched a 3 year old video of yours where you set up a holbein gouache pallete, and added glycerin. I'm wondering how that worked out in the long run.
I love my Ohuhu alcohol brush markers so much
Oh by the way Steph! Just wanted to let you know that there are carebear cutetitos!!✨
Hi @doodledate, I'm Gemma ( aka Lilo_might34 )
Im glad you enjoyed these, I have to say although these are out of my coin, I prefer Ohuhus 😅🤔
Love you both 💓
OMG ITS SO NICE TO MEET YOU GEMMA!!
Thank you so much for sending us the markers to review, we had so much fun making this video. I got 2 new cat OC's too which is a mega bonus HAHA
would love for you to try the arrtx oros, I hear they are juicier!

The artx box is beautiful but it also reminds me of a tampon box
I think Arrtx actually have brush nib versions of these markers possibly. They have an Arrtx oros line which have a neat brush tip :D Though, the arrtx oros tend to be more difficult to blend than ohuhus, based on personal experience.
My ohuhu markers are from BEFORE they gave them color names, so with my colors the ohuhu and the artxx are the same lol 😂
You guys inspired me to draw a cathulu.
I like the colour of the Purratex the most but a brush tip is a deal breaker for me. I’d buy the biggest set of brush tips of ohuhu and then fill in the pastel gaps with copic
the cost of living is getting so bad, electricity is really eating into people's budgets and means no new art supplies for a long time
Arrtx definitely wins color wise (the colors Steph picked are GORGEOUS)!
Arrtx? Their greens and oranges.

its really interesting how while painting the skirt it didn't look more pastel on the arrtx side, it kinda looked drier
I thought the blues looked different, but we see it though a camera.
Maybe people just think of pastels when they think of you two ^_^
you go adam, know the worth of your compliments!!! the fact that ohuhu hasnt sponsored yall yet with how much business youve given them over the years 👀
Looking at those two blues on the Pom-poms and wondering if Steph is a tiny bit color blind too… 👀
I think that she has difficulty describing the differences between colors, but I think in the past she took a color blind test and she has normal color vision
Or it could look different in real life versus how the camera picks up the color
Yeah I have very intuitive sense for colours and I spotted a better match for the hair on Adam’s drawing
HIII I MISSED YOU GUYS
Great review! Will there be a plushie making video?
It could be because of the computer but the blues look VERY different to me, on Adam's piece.

5:37 "oh my god it's swatch time" killed me for some reason. I have never heard a voice so excited yet emotionless yet also annoyed.
Kitty twins for the win 🥇
It makes me so happy that adams anime girl in this video has a bit of a belly. I know it’s not much, but I just really like to see diversity in art like that.
Does Adam need some time alone with the Ohuhu markers 🤣😂
That orange Arrtx marker Adam used for the hair was dryyyyyy
Adam it is ink in those pens, alcohol ink
Adam: ever watercolor is now pastel.
Also Adam: ew pastel markers
Arrtx now has brush tips.

ARRTX vs Ohuhu?!?! I feel drama ensuing!
😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻
😹😹😹😹😹😹😹😹😹😹😹😹😹
Intruiging 🤔
hope you're ready for a big scientific investigation!! 🧑🔬 🧪
Ohmewmew
Yes, Adam. It's very wrong of you to want your markers to work. You should be ashamed of yourself. Too greedy
oof I can't stand the sound the arrtx markers are making on the paper ;A; it makes my skin crawl the same way Styrofoam does XP for that alone i'd go with ohuhu
