Show was so good it turned Grace into a Fallout lore video essayist.
5:55 Imagine as she finish this sentence the city behind her explode 💀
seriously it made me one as well
Imagine if she had played the games
Watching this makes me want to play fallout new vegas again
What a breakdown 👏🏼
The ending with Lucy’s father seeing the remnants of New Vegas was 🤯
Can’t wait for season 2
And Death Claw! Loved this more than Last of Us HBO.
@@thegiantpaperpandai absolutely agree, i stopped watching the last of us episode 7, this show i binged in 3 days
I think New Vegas is fine. There is smoke because some make shift buildings use fossil fuels, others are on Fission.
I freaked out when they showed the last shot of the show. I love fallout New Vegas. It's my favorite fallout game by far.
I was wondering if that was new Vegas
Okay, that was Vegas! I haven't played the game, but thought so!
Makes me wonder what happened to NV. You the player get to determine how it all shakes out, and that happens before this show.
Did the courier not show up at all? Is House alive? We need more already.
@@bigyeticane Or maybe "the House allways Wins" was the canon endong of F:NV 🤷♂
As someone who's played Fallout for like 15 years, I loved this series. Great stuff here.
The enclave members suggesting their vault experiments were actually evoking vault experiments from each of the games…
that was so fun! A shoutout to literally all Fallout fans
In the game series it's hinted at that the experiments were also meant to gain data for the possible colonization of space.
If Grace played the games she would know.
Kinda weird that someone can analyze a show based on a game she knew nothing about.
She HATED the last 3 episodes. .
Ya know, the 3 Fallout fans fav episodes full of lore and intrigue.
She wanted it to be “weirder” in the last half of the season.
Fallout has many weird situations and characters, but it’s the character interactions and stories that matter.
She watched it for the action and the “weirdness”.
I take nothing she says seriously anymore.
This is by far the best adaptation of a world I've ever seen. The set design and props were stellar.
Absolutely loving this show, feels like some of the best TV I’ve seen in the last few years! Ella Purnell is absolutely amazing, and these SETS are insane!
While everyone loves Goggins' The Ghoul I'm over here like "What about my boys Maximus and Norm!"
Moises Arias' Vault 33 plot might have been my favorite storyline honestly and Aaron Moten (Maximus) new favorite actor right there!
Yes finally some love for my short king Norm!! He was fantastic, I was so happy whenever we went back to his story. And I’ve seen tons of love for Maximus!! I loved him so much as well, can’t wait to see where his story goes! I haven’t rooted for a member of the Brotherhood this much since Veronica lol
Aaron Moten was so good! I was not surprised to find out he’s a Julliard grad
Clearly you don't need much in life... He was allright at best.
The sheer amount of details in the Fallout series is extraordinary; down to the most minute props, the art, computer fonts, products, creatures, music & environments. Fallout fans, don’t you dare blink or you’ll miss the insane amount of game easter eggs. Nolan was a HUGE fan of Fallout 3 and it shows. Now, I really want to replay the Fallouts. Absolutely tremendous character development, story, acting editing with sound mixing, Easter eggs and a wallop of an ending. That last scene with the overlook of the desert and you know what gave me chills.
Even a hacking minigame. XD
Yup! Lots for Angelenos, like Randy's Donuts survives! Sort of
Lol.
There is no gaurantee that the NCR are completely gone. In the games the idea of the Bear having 2 heads is predominant. Shady Sands is one head and the NCR Army in Vegas was the other. At the onset of New Vegas, the NCR army had already defeated the Brotherhood in the area to the point they were in hiding, had just come off a major victory against the Legion, and had arranged a alliance of mutual protection with House. It was up to the player to decide between the Legion, NCR, Brotherhood, or House who would have the greatest political power in the Region. (A 5th option allowed you to favor none of the factions as well as a 6th option to Nuke the entirety of Vegas also existed in the fringes).
I am excited to find out which ending is cannon.
Pretty much like the Enclave, they are scattered and pretty much become remnants. Until the end of season 1, The Brotherhood was also falling.
Legion victory was one of the potential ending of New Vegas. They could've gone with that ending instead. Or perhaps the lost of their capital city Shady Sands weakened NCR enough that Legion managed to eventually kick NCR out of New Vegas.
There's no way a nuclear bomb would take out all the NCR rangers... They might very well still be in control of New Vegas in season 2 we don't know., very excited to find out.
Fallout fan since 2008. Lots of fun. 👍 some fans are practically religious zealots in regards to lore. New Vegas fans are by far the most passionate about their game. High recommend people to enjoy this fun franchise.
lol, nobody hates Fallout more than Fallout fans.
@@hengineerguess it happens to the most hardcore people of any fandom. Look at the Star Wars fans! 😆
Walton Gaggons is officially leading man material in this show. Like alot of folks Ive been watching him for awhile. I especially loved his flashback scenes! Wow. He was perfect for this role. I also love his voicework in Invincible. Another solid role!
"the lucky 38 is Robert Houses base of operations."
me: "not anymore it ain't!". 🙂🙂🙂
The reason most RUclipsrs dont like the binge idea is because they wont get to monetize episode-by-episode breakdown/review videos long term.
Yeah but Grace hardly does that with shows anyway. She'll usually only do weekly episode reviews for a star wars or Marvel show
I dont think its all disingenuous, I do think a lot of shows gain something by being spoonfed us weekly or even something like Arcane did, 3 episode sections. For instance, Im watching Sugar right now, and it's so nice not knowing whats going on and having a whole week to guess.
@@kityhawk2000 I specifically remember an episode-by-episode breakdown of Game of Thrones early on in Grace's career.
Binge was not a mistake for me. I am not a fan of waiting for weekly episodes. Never was...
Me either. If they do weekly drops, I prefer 2-3 per week.
Yeah I might ask if the weekly release is so successful why did Grace make a 2 videos for Fallout and none for Shogun. Because that's one of the best series of the year, has great reviews and a weekly release but who's talking about it? Not Grace that's for sure 😅
As a huge Fallout fan I did feel they did the world justice. I'm excited for season 2 and I feel like if anything the main flaw of this show is just that 8 episodes wasn't enough for season 1. Even a single extra episode would have benefitted it and given some breathing room. I'm most excited about seeing Lucy's journey continue and seeing how the team-up between her and Cooper will go. I was disappointed we didn't get a deathclaw but we got the skull of one so they're pretty much promising it's coming.
Wow, really nice background. I got most of it from the show but you filled in some holes in my understanding and got me even more excited for season 2.
I really liked the video games. I’m only on episode 2, but I think the series is crazy fun. Really cool to see Michael Emerson. Big fan of his from Lost.
The Enclave and the Business Roundtable (what else should I call them?) are very much separate entities. No way would they ever side with each other.
Yep. Enclave is US Government, Business Roundtable is Head of MegaCorps
Binge drop was not a mistake. Some of us only binge tv.
However I love weekly conversation too
Emphasis on “some”. I personally love a good binge watch, but grace is definitely talking from a business perspective. It’s almost never a good idea to drop a whole season at once. Conversation dies in a couple days rather than stretching it out over months so that people online will see the discourse and decide to watch themselves. It’s just smarter to do week by week.
@@justinurbealis6234 exactly 2 episodes would have been good enough the rest should have been weekly.
“Some of us…” is not a phrase that infers the better idea.
This was a binge worthy show!
I am loving it! I’m halfway through with the series. I do think the episodes would have you thinking more and be more enjoyable with a weekly release but I’m just glad this series exists and there’s a season 2 coming eventually.
“A man and his dog“ is an Easter egg reference to Harlan Ellison’s A Boy and His Dog (1975).
You've become one of my favorite critics. Structured, straightforward, intelligent, and engaged. Respect.
This break down is much stronger than your first one. As a long term fan of this series, the research you did into the lore is showing.
I finished late last night and was looking forward for this video, thanks Grace!
Fantastic job Grace! Just finished the show, loved it, and couldn't wait to come watch this video I knew you made
Nice research Grace. In the New Vegas game you can dictate/side with whatever faction you want to support so it will be interesting if the TV show actually confirms which ending is real.
I’ve never played Fallout either and it’s interesting to watch it on a binge level. Binging is the way to go because waiting on a week by week basis is just too long to wait for the next episode to play
Dang you literally nailed everything perfectly. My first fallout game was new Vegas. Loved it! And I was obsessed with Mr. House and didn’t even realize until you mentioned it, that the founder of Rob-Co Robert House was at that meeting. I thought he looked familiar haha. Thank you for this! I’m an OG fan, but the timeline sometimes confuses me and the way you explained it was great! Well done!!! 👍🏽
For a Non Fallout player you did a very great research on the fallout lore! Impressive!
Saw your video on Friday surface. Had to wait until Sunday. 😅
The binge was not a mistake. Fallout has a very loyal fanbase and that fanbase are primarily binge watchers. On top of that, they're also the kind of people that will watch it 3 more times before the month is over.
Thank you for this breakdown! I enjoyed the show but was a little confused. This cleared it up.
I love weekly breakdowns and reactions. I really hope s2 does the weekly episode thing.. ppl can binge it later then.
If you look at the billboard It say welcome to shady sands "FIRST" capital of the NCR. As if saying it not the capital anymore.
Im so glad u covered this. I just finished the show and its incredible
I Absolutely LOVED this season. I was nerding out so hard at the last few episodes because they cover stuff the games haven't yet, like who actually launched the first bombs. And while the show dealt with really dark stuff it was also really funny! I can't wait for Season 2. So glad I got to binge this.
Just finished it last night. Easily in my top 5 shows so far. Can't wait to see season 2.
I do prefer to binge, but I also like having a show to look forward to every week as well. The episodes were good enough to keep me coming back at least. I’m not familiar with the game, but I found the ending to be pretty satisfying. Looking forward to season 2!
The Easter eggs on this show are everywhere! I as well had not played the games. Digging into the lore is a lot of fun and the soundtrack (esp The Ink Spots) is chock full of 50's nostalgic tracks. I watched a reaction with 2 ppl who had played the games and they were just agog with the level of authenticity from the game. Pretty cool stuff.
Finally watched it and can’t wait for the next season. Agree weekly drop would helped to keep the momentum.
Grace, thanks for sharing this breakdown. 😊 I actually binged it in 3 days, and...just about to start a rewatch. 🎉
Your videos always make my day and make me happy 😁💥🤩🎥🍿
Loved the entire 1st Season. And watched entire 3 last episodes while was flying across the country on an airplane today.
Dang Grace, I can see why you’re proud of this breakdown. You absolutely NAILED this one 😁💪
now i can see it all again one episode per week
Seeing that New Vegas sign at the end got me hooked for a second season,
There’s a 4th option too yes man which could also be the case. They could also go into more detail regarding big mountain where monstrosities of the wasteland were created maybe an introduction of father Elijah too who is bent on taking over the wasteland
Just finished the first season and I loved it. Began with New Vegas, and played 3 and 4. I loved the show, the commentary of it, the aesthetic was spot on. I would recommend keeping reading on experiments that are made in the vaults, because I think they really leave you thinking about the reasoning the creators of the vault had from the beginning. Loved this series. The reign of video game adaptations continues!
so informed about the franchise as a non game player 😭 taught me some things and ive been playing since 2018
As a big fan of the games having played ever single game. This breakdown was spot on Grace. You did a fantastic job. On a side note I am so happy they added the line… war, war never changes! Shame they couldn’t have Ron Perlman deliver the line.
Goosey and the Ghoul were great. Had some great supporting cast too.
I prefer binge drop, as that is what originally sold me on instant streaming in the first place.
Only content creators don't like binge drops because they don't profit from it. They need to shut up about it tbh.
You are 💯 percent correct!
These RUclipsrs are the only one's that I've seen crying about this series having gotten the binge drop treatment.
@@DinkLover69that’s a great point . There’s no legitimate downside for binge drops from a consumer perspective
I never have fan conversations. BINGE DROP ALL THE WAY😅
Great video Grace, as a fan of the games, the tv show not only met but went above my expectations, amazing show, highly recommend it
The tv shows cool, wish I was playing a new Fallout
What? Fallout 76? 😂😂😂
It's 💩
Whoa boy. I loved that show. I never played the games either.
I finally watched Fallout and wow! I’ve never played the game but I too have found myself really interested in the lore. I wonder if the binge worked for non-fans of the game because I don’t know if I would have watched week to week and now I can’t wait for season 2.
Absolutely binge this show. At the end if each episode i was like please let here be another episode dont make me wait. Really enjoyed it and want season 2 sooner than later
Thanks for breaking this down because I was confused. Very unique world building and lore though.
this might be your best breakdown ever ❤
good stuff
Loved the show, reminded me of the game with the over-arching story plot lines, twists and big reveals. Looking forward to Season 2 and to the Fallout London mod for Fallout 4 coming end of April-ish, and for potential remasters of Fallout 3 as well. Seen the spike in player counts in Fallout related games since the show and its something I felt myself in wanted to replay some of the games/mods etc.
New Vegas is my fav game and just seeing a glimpse of it on screen made me literally scream out loud
Couldn't bing it but I loved it watched it day by day and I loved it s2 is definitely gonna drop weekly
I played two of the video games. This series did a great job with the art direction, costumes, and cinematography in recreating this universe.
I really liked how the story and Lucy’s understanding of her world evolved. It had nothing to do with the narratives of the games, which is fine.
It’s not unique to have a story about corporate greed and immorality. There’s also a reason why it’s been done before. There’s some truth to it. The way it ended up was really fun and a little surprising to me.
The MacGuffin of the scientist head and its end as energy was a little corny, but Grace is totally right that lack of resources is a topical problem. The whole cold fusion thing reminded me of the movie The Saint.
Cooper Howard’s family are probably in cryo-stasis. I totally agree with Grace about how the leader of the new california republic could be alive is unanswered. She’ll have to be either a former cryo-stasis manager or genetically altered in some way.
I’m looking forward to season two and hope they bring it out one episode a week.
Love your show Grace.
Binge watch was perfect , like an actual game we all get it at the same time and we all complete it at different times too
U forgot about yes man he could show up on the show as well
I didnt expect the final 3 episodes to turn into full westworld mystery haha but it was soooo good. But how on earth did the dad get to new vegas so fast haha
I hope we'll see supermutants in S2, and maybe synths to slowly introduce institute for future seasons.
You know my theory part way through when Bud Askins kept talking about time, I thought it had to do with living forever and that he created ghouls and that he made Cooper the first ever Ghoul.
I love your deep dive into the new vegas lore!
I just finished the show and I enjoyed it! I never played the games but I’m seated for season 2. Seeing the new Vegas sign I at least understood because I’ve heard of the game, so I got excited.
New Vegas is my favorite of the gamesand has so many fun characters. I could see a lot of potential, but I am so bumbed out that we lost Matthew Perry because he was well known for playing the role of Benny in New Vegas. I would have loved to see him be a part of the project if the next season includes characters from the games. The House always wins!
Great breakdown Grace, you made me want to play all the Fallout games again!
Idk if you know this but Matthew Perry loved Fallout so much, he voiced a character in new Vegas. Technically, in rare scenarios, his character could have lived. Had he and Matthew Perry lived, it would have been amazing to see a small cameo. Or there could even be a memorial (though his character was the primary antagonizing motivation for the player initially, so not exactly a good guy that would get a memorial maybe)
I just finished season 1 last night.... And to be honest... I can say it captured the concept and essence of the game quite well.... Nice job prime
i started play fallout n 1998. and today i understood a lot of things. what a great lore
The ending it made sense if you played fallout like I thought you said it went elsewhere but honestly I thought I was playing fallout when I saw the show.
Really looking forward to see super mutants handled in S2 and especially more fauna!
This was a binge worthy show and as a hardcore fan of the games i loved the end and the beginning. The finale episode blew my mind
I would’ve loved having this weekly and being able to make it a weekly event
I think Amazon will move to weekly release for season 2 with this show like they did The Boys. That may end up being their model for their flagship shows.
5:01 the show changed this a bit so im also confused. afaik, plz someone correct me: in the game, it is never told how someone becomes a conscious ghoul (like Goggins) vs a feral ghoul (like the Rose). it's more rare to be a conscious ghoul but if you are consciousyou will always stay conscious and if you are feral, you will always stay feral.
I just finished it now and I LOVED IT!!! Even the ending!
Hey, if we wanted to watch an episode every week, we still have that ability. If we want to watch all of it or big chunks of it at a time, we still have that ability.
I applaud them for dropping all of the episodes at the same time but I understand how content creators miss out on weekly content when this happens.
This was a great series I'm definetely hyped for season 2
Great show! much better than I thought it would be. can't wait for season 2! 👍👍
When a tank of gas (oxygen, propane, acetylene etc) is exhausted, you write MT on it, as in empty. Is Big MT a nod to that vernacular?
My first fallout game was fallout 3 never had a X ox one to play fallout 4 excellent series but should of been a weekly release to continue the hype for series and reviews of each episodes .Needed more than 8 episodes and now will be a 2 year wait or longer for a 2 Nd season same as Reacher
No, I don't think the binge was a mistake.
GREAT BREAKDOWN CAN'T WAIT FOR SEASON 2, coop needs to find his wife and little girl
I did the binge also over the weekend
Super great show! Now playing Fallout Shelter on my iPad and I bought Fallout4 for my Steam Deck 😁
I loved that they Binge it all...
I think binge model for the 1st and maybe episodic next season maybe they hedge their bets on the first season just in case fans would turn on it
Great research Grace!
Such an incrdible series. Never played the game and I'm now HOOKED.
The games are fun. They incorporate an RPG aspect so you are in control of what your actions you make and then there are consequences and results of those actions. The side stories and quests make it worth the play throughs. Highly recommend.
Never played the game but loved it. Binged it over 3 days. Walton's character Cooper was the best.
They actually did an amazing job with this series. I can't wait for season 2!
Dropping all episodes is the way to go. Some people binge, othera take their time. I personally binge diring the weekend or watch 2 episodes a day each week.
Nice breakdown
It’s a real shame that Mathew Perry passed away. He was a HUGE Fallout fan and had a big role in Fallout New Vegas. It would have been awesome to see him the show.
