Its funny how Grace said the ending isn’t that good and the poster says “the world deserves a better ending”
Hahaha oh yeah that's pretty funny
An unsatisfying ending is very Fallout lol
Hopefully not Fallout 3 levels of bad.
@@stormbard With Broken Steel you can continue. In NV you cannot. So you make your own ending in 3.
I disagree on the unsatisfying ending. Episode 8 was so intense and perfectly tied up the overarching mystery of season 1 with setting up future stories at the same time!
It's honestly one of the best finales I've seen of a Season 1. Ironically enough Westworld S1 is another great one that comes to mind.
Unsatisfying ending? That's so fallout
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Haha so true 😂
The first 2 had pretty good endings tbh
@@frankbelmont1565 I didn't really like either of theirs either lol.
@@Tattle-by-Tale well at least you have the option to kill the overseer with a minigun and watch him crawl on Fo1.
i will say, while i haven't seen the show and can't comment on how the tone shift is handled, the games usually also follow that structure of being very fun and playful until towards the end when it gets very dark, grotesque, and often tragic
You are getting what you wanted
i wouldnt say perfect but god damn its was really good.
Well Grace has stated that she's not a gamer so it's understandable that the tonal shift was weird for her.
Exactly! If we wanted to play a fluff game we'd play Stardew Valley (I actually play that one, too). I'm nearly level 2k in Fallout 76 and love it more as the game grows along with the friends you make.
@@shinrugal now she got to experience that tone shift so basically she learn a new skill or perk in this case lol
No Grace, this is fallout. The ending was great. The show was great
Having that tonal shift midway and becoming darker towards the end is very in line with the games. It sounds like they nailed it with this adaptation. 😎
That tone shift is part of the games and what makes them so good, and that commentary has always been a part of Fallout lol it's not new for this franchise
The ending was awesome. Wtf you talking about.
Maybe the final shot of New Vegas doesn't ring the bell in those who not played the game. Certainly was a powerful moment for me.
this chick has some awful opinions majority of the time
@chillslug she has some really unhinged biases and is entirely inconsistent. That's honestly why I watch her vids.
IKR it totally sticks the landing.
@@jaycollins2036 She have wild takes from wild angles all the times, and for me that makes her entertaining to watch.
A tonal shift near the end coupled with an unsatisfying conclusion? Welcome to Fallout!
The balance of idealistic, naive, over the top Americana and bleak futuristic violence & commentary is what I’ve always loved about the games. Glad to hear the show captured that (and maybe even expanded on it?) so well. Can’t wait
I think Ella Purnell getting the role in Fallout had more to do with her portrayal of Jinx in Arcane then her role in Yellowjackets. I mean it would make more sense both are video game IP's
I didn't know she did Jinx...nice.
They knew they were going to film a tragic dinner scene at the end of this show too.
@@lockekappa500 lol just watched the last episode, now Im even more sure they totally did cast her cause of the dinner scene
The "the world deserves a better ending" almost foreshadows a bad finale. 😂😂😂
It's so perfect hahah
That’s the irony of it that makes it so great
I hope not I don't want this to be a repeat of Game of Thrones when ever they end this series
It’s not bad tho
That blend of 1950's retro-futuristic Americana against the backdrop of post-apocalyptic bleakness with a dark sense of humor is what has distinguished Fallout as a gaming IP since it first released back in the 1990s. It's interesting hearing this resonate with someone so strongly who has never played the games and bodes well for show because nailing that tone and world was always going to be the biggest hurdle to overcome. It sounds like they've pulled it off!
At this point Grace really needs a gamming PC to experience the fun and love of the origins of these adaptions.
Or a Steam Deck.
Ella Purnell did her thing on Yellowjackets, she should be a star
She was incredible in Arcane as Jinx too
She is a incredible actress
she's talented and cute, she'll make it
Sounds great. With season 2 confirmed, some missteps in season 1 will be easier to handle (assuming they course correct)
Capitalists happy to make money on your dissatisfaction with capitalism.
Well said.
Every time.

_Endings. Endings never change._
Just finished it. The ending was basically perfect. But it was a VERY Fallout ending; so you get to the goal, but no one fully gets what they want at the same time. I see where Grace is coming from if you want a more traditional Hollywood type ending, but this is definitely not that. I think the series starts out strong and keeps getting stronger as they go along. The last episodes and the ending were actually way better then I thought they had any right to be imo.
Yeah I don't really agree with her take of the ending. Loved the show all the way through and excited to see where they take it in season 2!
A major location is mentioned destroyed off screen in the show? Guess its either the NCR or Vegas.
Knowing Todd it’s probably Vegas
Vegas' multiple endings make it difficult to revisit in the future
Glad Hollywood is finally being faithful to video game adaptations. All the new directors and writers grew up with these games and it makes sense they would eventually get the love and recognition they deserve.
either the game designers were consultants to the show or somebody in the production actually played the games. the world-building must've been the easiest part since the world's already built! they're basically just running three characters through a campaign. 😄
Has the video game curse been finally lifted? Arcane, The Last of Us, and now this (hope I'm not forgetting something). Can't wait to see what their Mass Effect show will look like.
A big budget Mass Effect would be phenomenal! Although Halo is not that great.
Bioshock I think is happening, if done correctly it would be so good
@@chatolo1 Agreed. I think it would be much easier to adapt with its more linear storyline.
Does Grace not know about Mr House? He's basically the fallout version of Ultron with a bit of Walt Disney and Thomas E Devey thrown in there.
He's Howard Hughes.
if you’re a fan of fallout and you know lore that ending is gonna excite you
The tone shift between comedy and silliness to darkness and horror is a hallmark of the Fallout series.
UNSATISFYING ENDING.................... THAT'S SO FALLOUT!
Grace just FYI the showrunners have said this is canon to the games and takes place a few years after the last main game, Fallout 4. The showrunners also allegedly know stuff that's gonna be relevant to Fallout 5 so there may be hints and setups for that stuff in the show. >.> Fallout fans are eagle-eyed so I'm sure they'll catch every last detail.
Loved it. If you've seen the game. It's dark and disturbing, but full of dark humor.
Imagine this was a 22 show for one season type of show that come in 45 minute installments.
Miss those so much.
@@RealBradMiller What shows that long had any kind of budget though? I'd take shorter seasons any day rather than it looking like Star Trek or Dr Who.
The answers to big questions being super convoluted is also very Westworld, to the point that I always found myself zoning out when the answer was being explained so I hope it's not that bad
Grace I’m not even a gamer but I HIGHLY recommend fallout it’s seriously some of the most interesting lore and story I’ve seen
Grace did you watch the latest episode of X men 97? This episode completely sold Me!! Approaching Arcane levels of Quality.
Remember it
My favorite episode so far!
Wish the animation was better though
@@mgms2000I thought the animation was great and Im sure it will improve when it gets to season 2
Like What if did with season 2
Lucy and Max were what Finn and Rey should have been. Amazing what good writing and directing can do. 😅
All sounds very Fallout to me... as someone who has played nearly all of the Fallout games and knows the storylines. lol!
Westworld, last of us and madmen that’s a big comparison, as a huge fallout fan I will criticize this show strongly
I'm interested in knowing your thoughts after you finish
Now that I have seen it I can see where the Madmen comparison comes from
It must be difficult to turn an open world game with a storyline that players choose their approach and outcomes into a linear series but it seems they’ve done a good job.
so excited for this, im gonna binge the whole thing the second I get home from work
Oh grace....you've either never played a fallout game or you're so naive you think that it was disappointing. That ending was one of THE best reveals and one of THE best holy shit moments in modern TV period
Well now I’m wondering what plot point they are using to be a cliffhanger to the season/show, like I don’t remember having an open ended plot to any of the games.
Also I understand they are probably going to continue with the same characters as introduced this season but it would also make sense for them to open each season with a new vault dweller story.
Maybe they should have done some title cards of what happened to other characters.
The sentence on top the poster is very fitting to how the show ends given your review Grace!
The first season of Westworld still is monumental. Sad to see the show go the way it did, but I agree with you, it was so good!
I love the video game nods in the first episode, like her starting out with a knife and then finding a gun upgrade, the med pack with a syringe, etc. It was so perfect.
I just finished it and I got to say I enjoyed it completely. I will have to disagree with you on this one Grace they were all amazing episodes and the ending was actually quite emotional for me. Either way I do understand where this show can get confusing like West World did. I worry about that as the show progresses. Amazing writing either way
Ooh, thanks for sharing Grace 🤩 I'm definitely going to start watching this tonight!!!! ☺️
I thought they totally stuck the landing
ELLA WAS GREAT ON YELLOWJACKETS!
I know RUclipsrs want weekly release for content, but I am curious if everyone else prefers weekly release, or complete season drop? I prefer season drops myself, but curious what others think?
i prefer weekly
Weekly
Weekly! I feel like if it's a binge, everyone forgets about the show in less time than it would take it to be released on a weekly basis. It's hard to chat with anyone about it, and it kinda feels less relevant. I like to keep the weekly hype going, even if something isn't perfect.
Dumbest debate of all cinema. Just watch it weekly then, you have a choice. Jezuz. -.-'
I don't bother watching series until the full season is out. Except maybe cartoons like X-Men 97, because cartoons don't matter.
Unsatisfying, darkness, etc. those are all terms and main themes of Fallout, it’s supposed to be like that…it clearly shows they’ve captured Fallout pretty much perfectly! Binged the show today and it’s a solid 9/10 for me.
maximus was fantastic. that dude is a SERIOUSLY talented actor
I have seen the first episode. The prologue was off the chart. Fallout New Vegas is my favorite game ever. So far, I like it a lot and I may rewatch it for all the easter eggs, they are everywhere, it's crazy 😱
So it starts perfect, and then goes off the rails in the end and is dark and disturbing? Sounds like the games. So much potential, so much disappointment? Todd Howard proudly declaring: "That's my boy!"
Never played fallout. But just watched this whole thing, binged it! Haven’t done that in ages. Loved it. Won’t make me play fallout but it hooked me right at the away and was fun the whole way through.
We need a sequel to tomb raider.
We need a reboot. We're getting the Tomb Raider anime from Netflix which should be good BUT that Tomb Raider movie cut the coolest parts of the game. The game had giant zombie samurai ogres and the movie had the nerve to not include them. I like Alicia Vikandir as Lara though.
S1 end of Westworld is amazing. The rest of the show I agree tho
Thanks for the review Grace, am really looking forward to this.
G'Day from Australia 🇦🇺 awesome channel thank you.
BTW I loved bingeing Fallout. I'd never have enjoyed it drip fed.
The Witcher producer / writer take note - stay true to source material !
Hi Grace! Will you review three body problem???
WW season 1 had a perfect ending. The rest of them were bad though
Wow I honestly didn't expect anything good from this show. Even though we've had some good video game adpatations recently this one didn't look very promising to me. But I'll give it a try after this review :)
I still haven’t seen westworld and I’m gonna be honest, I have no idea what that show is about or what it even is lol but fallout I’m kinda excited for never played the games but looks cool
After watching it all I have no idea where this unsatisfactory ending is coming from. It revealed so much so well
Grace I love you, but that was a great ending. I can’t wait for season two. But that’s what I love you. You’re a great reviewer who sees both sides of the argument. Again love you lots and I can’t wait for your season 2 review 😘
I agree that Aaron Moten's Maximilius is the standout performance. The mix of heroism, shame, anger and ambition he was able to portray was so dang good.
I found it to be SO true to the game! Ruthless, the survivor has to learn how to balance her softer learning with survival. I have played all the games and this is as true to them as you can be in a video. I found it enthralling, frightening, yet with the hope for a better future. As for an ending, it is like a lot of the good series, you have to leave with a cliff hanger! Wonderful!
Funny how Ella Purnell keep getting cast, and these video game out of first she plays Jinx in arcane and now she is Lucy MacLean in fallout
Can't wait to watch this tonight!!
Yeah I'm not sure what Grace is smoking, but don't listen to her about the last 3 episodes, they're great and ABSOLUTELY in line with a proper Fallout story... it's the kind of hard hitting shit you get in the games, it's excellent... maybe Grace's brain is too rotten by the Disney virus (seriously, why does she see Disney everywhere?)
Im at episode 2 and still not hooked, i was suprised to learn this was the new series from the Westworld couple, cos in the 2 first episodes , i only saw some talented actors like Ms Purnel ( loved Yellowjackets so much ) and money on screen, but compared to the Plot of Westworld and even how strongly just episode 1 leaves ppl speechless, i really didn't find those qualities yet ... i really hope that maybe the twist in tone will make me change my mind.
Vault tec and robco causing the nuclear fallout was always a fan theory. Now it’s confirmed.
LOVED IT ALL! I loved every episode. I was looking got what yo watch and clicked randomly on it. Didn't even read the synopsis and or knowing anything. Didn't watch or read any reviews. One of the best watches binge watches in a long time.
I hope they stay true to the games and announce Tubi is doing a low budget spin off season set in Vegas that absolutely blows the big budget Amazon adaptations out of the water.
Wasn't it supposed to release today? None of the episodes are on prime right now.
It does release today, later tonight
6pm pst
9pm est
Nothing this reviewer said good or bad sounds out of place for fallout. There are some dark dark sub stories that shift the tone of the video game from fun crazy to just Cormac McCarthy bleak. Love that this reviewer has found the strength of the video game itself.
The ending is PERFECT lol. We like cliff hangers. That's what brings people back. The Fallout gajes are pretty depressing and dark.
THERE IS NOT A SINGLE FLAW WITH THIS SHOW ITS AMAZING
I feel like Fallout might be the redemption arc for Nolan and Joy for what they did to westworld, this might be a more fun project than Westworld in my opinion
I think Grace likes the weekly release because she's all into the "internet chatter". I mean, after all, it's kinda her job. I get about 2 to 3 hours a week of free time to watch TV and I don't want to watch episode 1 and then have to wait a few months until I can finish episode 8. We all got lives and I don't even have a Twitter account.
Mean my only complaint was they basically destroyed the ncr and theirfore mr house just because it made it easier to write a story instead of making it more complicated or be brave enough to move location
THE ENDING WAS AWESOME!
Never played the game (it was on PC). Episode 1 is awesome!
fallout releases tomorrow (edit: releases tonight), am hype for it.
and do a review of the episode 5 of xmen97, please. was very good, and alot of deaths😥
They gave it to us early because we were so good... Also, the Great War starts tomorrow!!
Ep 6 and 8 are my favourite. As a fan and player of the entire series I fully understand that people don't like last 3 episodes as much as the first 5.
Westworld series 1 absolutely stick the landing it was incredible…. Didn’t quite stick the landing with 2 and 3 and even a big fan like me and big fan of the very different season 3 couldn’t even slightly entertain season 4 like what the beep even was that
The thing about the “unsatisfied” end is that the fan base is huge. We/they will watch anyway because the overall product was a success.
I think the ending is only unsatisfactory if you don't get the significance of what was revealed. We are going to New vegas! Its an understandable thing to overlook if you haven't played the games to know the lore but it was one of my favorite moments was seeing that city.
I recommend looking at the lore of fallout grace, it’s absolutely AMAZING
13:25 “mainline” very clever use of the term to get our “fix” to watch Fallout Grace 🤭
CAN'T WAIT FOR SEASON 2!
While the games' famous opening phrase was: "War. War never changes", the show pilot's could easily be: "People. People never change." From the slow mo of people frantically fleeing or going into their fallout shelters, to the slow mo of the raiders invading the vault, we see people descend into chaos when things take a dramatic turn. It's too early for to tell how good the series from seeing the pilot, as it's too early to see how Lucy will turn out from being a blank slate, but already the show seems thoughtful. A clear picture is drawn between the haves and have-nots, even in the post-Nuclear wasteland, we see what it means to be in a position of privilege while everyone else is literally in the dirt.
I think Walton Goggins is a good actor, but he's really Walton Goggins in everything he does. One's ability to appreciate his performances depends on one's ability to get beyond that, and I don't have that feature.
Obviously you’ve never seen the Apostle
Hard disagree. Just compare his flashbacks as a human with his take on the ghoul. Shockingly different.
Wasn't the Ending titled The Beginning?
That's funny, I had the opposite reaction. Episode 1-5 were ok, with Eps 1-2 being the weakest. Episode 6 was the best of the series and it ended strong, wrapping up story lines and setting up season 2.
Very nice to seeing the early reviews being positive. I'm naturally skeptical of any video game adaptation as for ages they were at best mediocre and often terrible. Glad that that's been changing quite a bit over the last decade.
Amazon Prime is on roll in terms of quality new content. The Boys, Generation V, Invincible, Jack Reacher, Mrs and Mrs Smith and Fallout one of the best game adaptations ever and watch Roadhouse and Saltburn for free, Plus I get next day delivery too! No streaming services is offering better value right now.
The ending was what it needed to be, closing one chapter opening questions for the next.
One of the better solid shows to release in 2024, so worth the watch, binged it to glory.🎉
Cant wait to watch this, Thanks for the review.
Westworld subscribed to the LOST show's writing playbook but with even MORE idling & resets & wtf in a bad way machinations. 🤷
The tone you keep mention IS Fallout. imo - best video game adaptation ever.
