It’s fascinating seeing Aquaman 2 and The Marvels (both having billion dollar predecessors) fall this hard with their sequels. Can’t wait for Movie Math to see the box office comparisons!
The result of having a laissez-faire attitude to screenwriting and storytelling. Hollywood will never learn will they.
@@brandon_youtubeit's weird cuz the Marvels is a really brilliant film horribly marketed imo
Girls trip/Bridesmaids was RIGHT there...
Next up: Deadpool 3 😬
@@nailinthefashionreally? I thought it was genuinely pretty bad. Not many redeeming qualities.
You can't wait but I can wait....this is sad
I thought the gag with ocean master not knowing how to run properly was actually quite funny. I first noticed it on the beach when they were escaping from that prison and thought ‘that’s a really weird way to run’ but then when it turned out to be intentional I loved it.
And now Gunn will never lean into that level of goofiness ever again hahahaha
😂
I was thinking at first, why is he doing the Naruto run? Lol
I thought that was a great little gag
Exactly. Orm was the MVP of the entire movie.
Agreed 👏🏼👏🏼💯💯
One thing I loved about this movie was seeing Atlantis and the underwater creatures and animals. That’s what I expected to see from The Little Mermaid
I'm going to say it. I went yesterday to the cinema and I really enjoyed it. People actually applauded at the end!
My last time of following the tradition of watching your DCEU spoiler reviews without seeing the films 😭
You can do it again with the dcu as i am sure that universe will be just as bad maybe worse
@@johnshepard8556 i have hope for superman legacy, but if that's awful then I'll return to these habits
I chose to do the movie before just in case Grace's review turns out to be salty 😂😂😂
I actually the movie was equally as fun as the first one. LOVED the characterisation on Manta, the suit was everything. As Grace said before it was a solid family adventure film
“I mean, he was a King, damn it” why is this sooooo funny 😅😅
For a movie that's gone through multiple reshoots and test screenings, Aquaman 2 really has awesome visuals and effects.
I like how for most of the movie, the camera takes a few steps back and you get these incredible wide shots.
James Wan is a legend.
Agreed 👏🏼💯
The problem I had with the end credit scene is that he didn’t find out that Arthur had tricked him . That would’ve been gold
Hidden Gem : Ocean Master does the "Naruto Run"
also 10/10 Grace's Mermaid Fit
So I just realized Grace is wearing green as if she was an Atlantean
I loved this movie. I almost didn’t see it because of your review lol. But I really liked it.
Same, except I only kind of liked it. Her review of _The Creator_ put me off so I skipped it, then in December she turned around and said it was one of her top ten favorites of the year!
My daughters and I saw aquaman around 8pm everyone seemed to enjoy the movie. The laughter was real from adults not condescending, and the children’s laughter was genuine. No disparaging moans. I agree with your review 90%, I enjoy your insight.
😭 🧜♂️ This is the end of an era that I really loved in the DCEU. Actually superhero movies are not the same anymore, and I’d even say the entire movie industry as a whole has changed.
❤😊
I saw it in IMAX 3D with my wife and daughter and we all liked it. My wife thought that it had too many jokes. Some scenes reminded me of the 'Pirates' franchise. The film was better than expected. Amber Heard also did great. At least it ends the DCEU on an upbeat and cheery note. Kudos to Wan and crew for making the best film they could, given all the drama surrounding DC and Heard
That ending definitely gave me Black Panther vibes too. That was all I could think of and then they had to add ‘I am Aquaman’ at the end, yep very on the nose, I was like ‘really?’ but it did make me chuckle cuz you can tell Jason was loving it 😂
I somehow felt that the "cockroach" is a shade/inside joke by James Wan to convey his feelings about his time in the DCEU 🤷♂
Lol
😂😆🤣
Nice seeing Patrick Wilson getting all this esteem. He deserves it.
Orichalcum is also used in the classic anime series Yugioh with dartz and his crew because a huge part of Yugioh season 5 was centered around Atlantis and it’s very cool yet scary with the villain
Seal of orichalcos! Haha yugioh kept popping into my brain every time they referenced it
I liked the movie and it was fun to watch. The people in my theater were not as bad as yours Grace because they were laughing at all of the jokes. The movie should have had 2 end credit scenes. They could of kept the Orm scene and the end credit scene could of referenced the Justice league.
He says “I am Aquaman” in the first film too…
I actually really enjoyed the movie. 7-8/10. The only problem is the final act feeling a bit rushed. But it still played beautifully at that pace.
I could take this comment and rewrite it word for word. 8/10, and the last act feeling way underdone, much less than its predecessor's.
If it was that easy to beat the Big Bad, then why didn't they do that thousands of years ago, instead of freezing him and his minions for that long?
@@sandal_thong8631 plot holes exist in everything. Even 10/10 movies.
Have you not heard of orcas taking out ships?!
They're the psychos of the sea! They'll even play with their food. The only whale I fear, completely ruined Free Willy for myself lmao
Necrus gave me serious Morgul Vale vibes. And the king was totally the Witch King of Angmar.
I saw this at imax and the world looked amazing. Really enjoyed it
9:40 Well actually Grace... 2023 was a record year for whales attacking and damaging ships. The internet today guys have covered it.
I liked it. Thought it was better than the first except for amber heard awkwardness. She just didn't seem comfortable.
I thought the "I am Aquaman" line was just a callback to how they ended the first film......with the exact same line. The last line of the first film is literally "I am Aquaman." Maybe we're just looking a bit too much into it
Nah, Grace was right on this one. If they wanted it to be its own thing, they would have said, "Some people on land call me Aquaman, but you can also call me King Arthur." I chuckled when I saw on the TV them referring to him as King Arthur.
Randall Park is just GOLD.
My family and I enjoyed this movie. I prefer the 3rd act and tone overall than the rest of the movie.
I thought the movie was fun, sucks it was setup to fail, wanted to see more of Momoa as Aquaman.
Aquaman and an octopus partner?
The Deep has enter the chat
A cockroach being eaten is perhaps the worst post-credit scene I could possibly imagine. 🤮🤮🤮
👏🏼💯yep
Guess we got different "tastes" 😂. I thought the cockroach gag was hilarious 😂
I liked the movie! My family and I had so much fun :)
I enjoyed it also...
I adore mera . So glad she had alot more screen time then I thought she was gonna have. She’s amazing. Love her comic characters too
Thank you for giving the advice of watching this movie with the angle of it being a family adventure movie. It’s 100% adjusted my expectations and allowed me to actually enjoy the film. I actually had a lot of fun. I definitely see how the movie in itself is confused with what it’s trying to do though. The last 1/3 of the movie made… decisions… sure.
Orichalcum is referenced in multiple video games and other media as like materials used to craft weapons and items in those games/series
I would love to watch a miniseries about Dr Shin's time working with Black Manta
Aquaman II: Electric Boogaloo
Omg, in your spoiler free review I was literally going to say "Orichalcum" referring to Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, one of the best non-movie Indian Jones things ever made!
I'd say outside of ancient Greek writings orichalcum is most well known for being a very rare ore in the Final Fantasy series, a material used to make extremely rare, powerful weapons and in most cases the "ultimate" weapon
Me, having war like flashbacks to Kingdom Hearts and building the ultima weapon keyblade: 🤬🤡🤯
Holy snap, I just remembered that from Final Fantasy, you're right!
It's also present in the Elder Scrolls games
Well I actually liked the movie. I think there was too much pressure on this movie to get everything right because it was the last film in this series of DC movies. However it was pretty good. I was pleasantly surprised by villain, world building and overall message. I agree that the last line was crazy to do in a DC film. Every knows that’s Iron man’s line and not just any line. Like the movie line of all movie lines lol. Anyway other than that I thought the film was great. I’ll go back and watch it again to make sure I’m not disillusioned. 😂😅
It's been so long since _Iron Man_ that I forgot that's what they were referring to, even though Grace mentioned to watch out for it in her non-spoiler review.
Exactly 💯💯👏🏼👏🏼
Loved the movie... the third act could've been better but the movie was fun throughout and action packed. Hope it won't flop at the box office
Not even gonna watch the film so ill just watch this video 😌🙏
Thanks for your coverage grace, i'll be back after seeing the movie this weekend. 😁
Sort of cant believe what im hearing rn 😂
The “I am Iron-man” line was cringe and very pathetic. James Wan should have known better.
Its not Wan decision, its the studio notes.
I’m not seeing Aquaman 2, but I will gladly watch a Spoiler Review for it.
It was a good movie and judging from most of the comments, most seem to agree with me.
i haven't seen Aquaman 2 but its looks awesome and i loved your spoilers review
I saw it with my family tonight and had a good time.
Love your Aquaman shirt Grace!
I just got back from the film and you know what I LIKED it, yes it has some cringe dialogue 😬 but you know what its world building and action sequences made it very enjoyable
The comments about Randall Park brought to mind how broken BD Wong was in the last Jurassic World. My friend laughed hysterically when Henry Wu emerged from the shadows clutching his bag.
Asian stereotype unfortunately 😓
Also i wouldve been nice of another member or the league showed up at the end. Like having a trusted member of the league support the whole initiative.
Every RPG video game or board game nerd knows what Orichalcum is, it's in every RPG ever made.
I remember you once said the original ending was open for a sequel, do you know what it was?
HAVE GREAT HOLIDAYS, GRACE!!!!
Finally got to see this today at the movies and I absolutely loved it 😊
Thank you for your review Grace. I'm not watching the movie so I was waiting for your spoiler review.
i actually enjoyed this sequel...but i must say it doesn't have the charms and the awe-inspiring moments we get in the first one. Especially the lack of an epic battle at the end...One thing I wish they made difference, is maybe introduce a new villain into the sequel..
ngl.. i really feel like Patrick Wilson carried this movie.
and.. i understand why it was done, and it was for the best, but i think if they hadnt excised Mira out of the movie to the degree they did, it would have made more sense.
Exactly 💯💯👏🏼👏🏼
I actually rocked with this one more than the first movie!
I have been trying to find a positive review and its hard to do but there are those that will defend this until the end.
They didn't explain the whale bit at the end very well, but it actually made sense.
The whales created a audio resonance frequency with the Sub's sonic canon weapon and ended up overloading it.
Think of it as the equivalent of when soldiers are told to break step and not march in unison when they're marching over a bridge so as not to create a resonance frequency with the bridge's own natural frequency, and which could result in the bridge collapsing.
In this case the whales were doing the opposite and exactly what the soliders are told not to do and where emitting an audio tone in unison to create said resonance frequency with the sonic canon's own natural resonance and thus pumping it up to the point that it overloaded the canon's charging process and blew it up.
As hard as it's been for me to explain it here, it's also probably the reason why they didn't try to do so in the movie, but it does make sense.
I just didn't understand why it had to be (exclusively) whales.
Most deep sea creatures navigate and communicate using echolation (because it's so deep down there and sunlight doen't reach that far) and producing audio frequency in the water that can be detected by themselves (When the wave bounces back after hitting potential prey) or by other creatures. So it could have been any assortment of sea cratures.
Not watching aquaman. Just here for the new btt video.
Thanks for the amazing review Grace ❤
Yes dolphins and whales use sonar to communicate across miles. But I have some issues.
1. Having the ship surrounded by Soundwave going many different directions doesn't amplify sound waves. It only amplifies when the frequencies are the same, and going in the same or at the very least similar directions. Each interaction, if not following this structure, diminishes the power of the wave.
2. Human echo locators are known to cause bleeding in dolphins in close proximity and I believe are much stronger than marine life. Even at close ranges all those animals could not possibly destroy the generator because those sonar Felines travel much farther depths than animals. And if it were the case to work, all those humans would have had their heads explode.
3. What was the goal? To confuse the signal or to destroy the machine because it's not clear when Mamoa says distraction/confusion.
REALLY ALREADY THE SPOILER REVIEW. THANK YOU GRACE SO MUCH. ❤ CAN'T WAIT TO WATCH THIS FLIM
4:52 They didn't care plain and simple.
I remember orichalcum from 90s videogame Indiana Jones & the Fate of Atlantis😅
I just saw it and loved it!
Thanks Grace!
Grace, you are right. Martin Short should have been Tepo's voice.
3:50 so true after the movie i got McDonald's and my sister had a pizza at home 😂😂😂
Excellent Review Grace 😅
I don't think I've ever seen a no spoiler review and spoiler review out the same day
Grace is on top of it!! 😊❤
Has anyone mentioned how the uniforms Manta's people wear look like reject Xmen suits from the fox movies?
I watched it and it was fun and entertaining. Full of actions, fast pacing, and some jokes. Nice popcorn movie.
Cmon be honest it is a shit movie
@@tommyancharuk9941 this is just your opinion, I really enjoy it.
I feel like this will be one of those movies i watch if i am bored on a long haul flight and have time to kill, just like the first one.
With so many better holiday movies out rn… I guess I’ll save my $ and watch those :/
How was the 3D? Was it good? I can’t remember if I saw the first one in 3D. I know I saw Batman Vs Superman in IMAX 3D
It really is a slap in the face to the DC and DCEU fans the way this movie ended. A man eating a cockroach is the final scene of this universe. WB didn’t even bother to give this movie a red carpet premiere!
I thought the movie was entertaining, yes it had many problems. The issues I had was the extra silliness and the third act, but overall the movie had more positives then negatives.
What I would have done to finish off this universe is first of all flip this release with The Flash and have that as the final movie. Give us an epic action sequence in Flash with all the Justice League members as a final goodbye, I mean they had all there except for Superman (Ray Fisher would have never returned again anyway) but at least give us the big 5.
At least with the Flash’s ending about multiverse and changes in the universe, it would have made much more sense that a new universe could emerge from this.
should've been way more mera imho, idc what people think
This video will fully determine if I care enough to watch this movie lmao 😅 so thank you grace!
It was good. Don’t listen to Grace.
Why does someone else's personal opinion have to be the reason why you decide to, or not to watch it? Shouldn't you watch it for yourself and form your own personal honest opinions about it??
I love Grace's shirt. So.... scale-inspired hehe
Movie still sounds fun.
There’s no way to avoid the Black Panther comparisons, considering they’re basically the same intro story just with the protagonists switched. Also yeah the “vibranium” with its glowing green color has shown up in a few different media already at this point. And also also they’re right about how damaging whale sonar can be, it’s believed that’s how some species of sperm whale hunt.
Watched it today and can anyone confirm this for me? :
I feel like the movie was lacking any of the awesome action scenes the first one had.
Like the whole final battle was so boring ? I don’t know, the entire thing felt so weird and not epic at all.
Compare that to the awesome Kraken Aquaman was riding in the first one while all the kingdoms were battling.
Such a letdown. I feel like they had no time.
Totally not related, but your shirt is really pretty. That color looks good on you. (Respectfully)
I fell asleep yesterday night watching the movie… TWICE! 😴 💤
The best parts of movie and my cinema experience was when it was the arctic scenes the AC in cinema was turned up and made it feel like I was there in the arctic with aquaman and the atlantians
I saw in the credits they did some filming in Greenland, Iceland and Antarctica! I'm sure there's no tax breaks from a film commission in Antarctica.
I hope this movie makes less than $30 million opening. WB deserves to lose hundreds of millions on this film. They thumbed their noses and attacked their fans for years, and all they got for it was losses. WB deserves this, and they deserve to see Superman Legacy fail too.
I just saw the movie and enjoyed it. It was fun and had some good actions. The visuals were pretty good. I liked the pacing. It never really dragged for me except a little towards the end. I remained engaged throughout the whole movie.
What were the Black Trindent powers?
Oricalcum is used in the bkack cat anime as weapons😮
Wild roaches in the their natural environment(not cities) are completely okay to eat. Not saying it’s not gross. But any survivalist could confirm.
I would say it's just not part of our culture.
I watched today with my sister, got to see it on Dolby, yea! And while she didn't enjoy the corny parts she thought it was a solid movie, and so did I. I was entertained. So, while a lot of people are upset this is how the DCEU ended, I'm really not mad about it.
I actually enjoyed Aquaman 2. The action and special effects were my favorite parts of it. I think Flash is funnier, but the ending wasn't as cringe in this one as that George Clooney cameo scene. Overall a solid sequel to the first.
I couldn’t finish this movie, just didn’t like it. Honestly is about what i expected as the final dc movie. Just bad.
