I recently did a road trip from central Illinois to Florida mostly interstate highway driving with exception of about the 1st 50 miles slowing down to drive through rural towns and a lot of stop and go through Atlanta. I averaged 27.3 MPG on the trip. The truck had a fresh oil change, tire rotation and tires inflated to spec. 2.7 XLT Supercrew. I have owned 2 years. Has been a very nice truck.

Just bought an F150 xlt 2.7 engine. I also tested an Ram 1500. Got to admit I’m glad I picked the Ford. I have a Super Crew tons of room, and plenty of power! I filled it up and was surprised of the range to empty 502 miles. My vehicle have it own WiFi, and 110 power outlets. I’m a very happy owner!

I'll be ordering my 2021 F-150 Lariat 2.7 Supercab 4x4 later this year. After researching all the changes Ford made to the revised 2nd gen 2.7 ecoboost I knew it was the engine I wanted. I think this engine will wind up being the most reliable in the F-150 lineup. I rarely tow and this truck will be my daily driver and my travel/camping rig, eventually. This engine paired with the lighter weight of the Supercab body and 3.73 locking gears is the ideal balance between real world efficiency and overall performance.
I just took delivery of a 2019 F-150 XLT FX4 with the 2.7L Ecoboost engine. I'm very happy with it. I got the 302A trim package because they have the most discounts right now. The only thing I wish Ford would've added to it was the programmable garage door opener option, but that's reserved for the Lariat 501A package. Other than that, I couldn't be happier. I've got a 2015 2.7 4x4 supercab. When I did mostly highway driving I got about 23 mpg avg. Now where I live I do almost all city driving - 20.6 mpg. Still pretty good. One highway trip with a load I got 26.2 mpg and was averaging 70 mph. At one point I hit 102. I've hauled about 1200 lbs worth of logs in the bed and the ride and mpg didn't suffer at all and the springs barely sagged. And this truck is quick. Overall I did not want to buy a ford based off my experience with a former work truck, but am very happy with my purchase so far. Once I pay it off soon (bought it a year ago used) I'll be able to tell you if I love it or not
Good video. I knew you were in Texas before I saw the flag! The link to the tow info doesn't work. I've seen different tow numbers for the 3.15 axle ratio with a 2.7L. Can't get a definite answer.
I average between 21.8-23.6 MPG with my 2019 Lariat. Its easily doable if you don't drive aggressive. I do use ECO mode and set the cruise at 65 when on the highway. My lifetime average is 18.6 with some towing in there. It does drop quite a bit when pulling a trailer. Not really a surprise though. Jack rabbit starts and a heavy right foot throw the eco part of ecoboost right out of the window. lol
I haven’t been getting those numbers from the engine? Do you have the electronic break on? My 2018 is a freaking rocket in normal, put it in sport mode and the damn thing is fast. Yes, it will tow. I saw one person that said the just bought the 5.0L F-150, keep an eye one your oil level? TSB out there wanted dealers to check for excess oil use. The 5.0L is has and aluminum block and heads with a spray in cylinder lining. Don’t think they have that perfected yet. My 2.7L is the best engine I have had in a vehicle, and that’s includes the 4.9L inline six.
Good review. That is virtually identical to my truck, only difference is my bumpers are painted, and all black interior. My last truck was also XLT (2010). Personally, I've never seen the need to spend lots more just for the extra luxuries. It is my daily driver, but I also haul and tow stuff with it from time to time. I've already towed a 3300 lb boat 150 miles on the highway, and it was like the boat wasnt even there. The torque is incredible for such a tiny engine!
@@fitzyboy1390 It was high. $55.000 after taxes.I also spent $3000.00 extra an spray in bed liner, mud flaps, wheel well liners and a roll top bed cover. Very worth it to me I keep vehicles for 14 years or more! Lots of power and has a great smooth ride.
@@tedschmitt178 I head that about the 3.5 .I just tow a wave runner and the 5.0 is fine. Also 5.0 has no EB turbo so less maintenance involved. The V8 has plenty of hp and I feel it don't have to work as hard as the V6.Just my opinion!🇺🇸🇺🇸😄
@@rkeith4442 two different ways of achieving the same thing I'd say. The EcoBoost definitely has the torque you won't find in a regular V8. My 3.5 doesn't have to work hard to do anything really, as the turbos spool pretty quick and help accelerate without having to downshift. They are very close, but I'd rather have the 75+ lb-ft vs the 20ish hp. I guess I'm biased too as I love and prefer turbocharged motors from an efficiency standpoint.
Um I have NOT seen a 2019 or 2020 XLT with a "110v outlet" in the bed of the truck... I don't believe that starts until 2021... IF this truck has it, please show in pictures. My 2019 F150 XLT FX4 max tow 302a enhanced electronics does NOT have a 110v outlet in the bed, but so far, I love it. I have the 3.5, 10 speed and it does pretty good.
Beautiful review and thank you for the amazing details that you provided in this video. I think the same truck TFL had it in their review. Keep the hard work brother
I have a 2018 STX with the 2.7 ecoboost ive averaged 22.9 mpg since ive owned it it now has 19k on it so ive really enjoyed that aspect. I have 1 yr left on my lease and i have planned on moving into a xlt but im dissapointed for 50k you dont get led lights, keyless entry or even push button start which are all features that i wanted on my next truck. My question is what truck would you pick between the xlt f150 or the chevy trail boss LT? They are basically the same price but the chevy has all the features imentiond i wanted plus a 2 inch lift and some nice aggressive tires( I was gonna put a leveling kit on my next truck plus wheels and tires anyway so thats a big money saving right there) I like my ford but it seems like the trail boss has what im looking for in stock form for a good price. Im just curious what you think since you have hands on experience with both. Thanks and good job reviewing the truck!
Very nice and thanks for sharing! Yeah it’s a bummer that those things aren’t available for that price but it’s possible to get some big discounts on a more expensive truck with those. Maybe. I like that LT Trail Boss and everything it offers for sure, my only question is reliability. I say that with a sad face because I used to own a Silverado and my mom still drives and ‘02 with upper 200s miles but I’ve known a couple people with the last generation truck who each had multiple issues. Primarily transmission and electrical. So I’m really curious how this generation Silverado is going to do. If you’re gonna keep it for a long time id trust the current F-150 more but between those trims is prefer that trail boss. Tough choice! Possibly wait for the 2020 F-150 to see what changes there could be. Good luck with the decision!
Yea i think i will wait for my lease to be up next november and see what ford does i do perfer ford but im not gonna let that blind me to something else that has what i want for a better price. Ill prob lease again because i enjoy getting into the latest and greatest every few years. I like the tremor package the super duties will be offered with, perhaps ford carries that over to f 150 i think that could be a nice trail boss competitor as well as trd pro and ram rebel.
I’ve been wanting to for a while, but I’ve been rejected from them twice. They told me I need 25k subscribers and then we will see. And I’ll be there in a couple of weeks hopefully so fingers crossed!
That’s why I was expecting it to be quick because of other reviews I’ve seen and it’s timed 0-60. I was probably too hard on it regarding that but it was definitely good enough!
@@PrimeAutotainment That didn't come out right. What I mean was I'm surprise it didn't feel responsive to you because most reviewers think it's very responsive and that it's the preferred Ecoboost engine over the 3.5 because it balances performance and fuel economy very well.
I did max payload on my ford 2.7 eco as a mobile detailed carrying water everyday gave me about 15-16 mpg unless I did sport mode then a little less but I just got a ford V8 also awesome power carry more payload but mpg a little less even been lite on foot on gas pedal it does 14-15 and sport mode or heavy on foot 12-13 big difference xlt 2wd eco against fordlarit 2wd
It really is, and nice. But just another thing that can and will fail over time--its a hole cut out of the roof. This is just what I tell myself to make me feel better for not having one 🥲
I think I prefer the column shifter to free up extra space in the middle console area. I like using a middle console shifter more but I’d rather have the column shifter
When you continually say "it's not the best" "ehhh...it's ok" and then in the same sentence admit you haven't driven other trucks makes me wonder what you're comparing it to? Maybe an airplane?
I got this 2019 F-150 XLT FX4 with the 2.7L Ecoboost engine as a loaner while my 2018 GMC Sierra SLT is in the body shop for some dings. Only driven it for a couple of days but boy do i miss the GMC. The spacious cabin, leg room, the quite smooth ride, the power of the 5.3 V8 and the overall ride quality - there is just no comparison. Also the build and material quality feel light and not strong. I am not sure about the higher end trims in the Ford lineup but i think i have been spoiled by GMC trucks. The ford also has a bigger body but that does not seem to translate into space for the driver. The seats are smaller, hip room is tight and leg room is just...meh. XLT, if i am not mistaken is a mid level trim so i was expecting better. Not fairing any better with fuel . On highway my GMC gives me 26 mpg and this is Ford gives me around 24 mpg . Can't wait to get my GMC back. I
What did you expect !? A mustang ! It’s a truck with a little mighty , I believe 214ci engine. Let me guess , you probably had the A/C on too.. it is slower with it on...Quicker then most trucks on the road , and sport mode helps.
Mike Milne not with this spec. As equipped (2.7L with 3.55 rear end, 4x4, SuperCrew shirt box...it’s 7,600lbs.) the only way you can get 9,000lbs for the 2.7L is a long box, 3.73 axle, and 2 wheel drive
@@PrimeAutotainment you can get a tow rating of 9000 lb in a regular cab 4x4. And 9000lb in a 4x2 and a 4x4 in the super cab. And 9000 lb in the 4x2 and 4x4 in the super crew body style
Hey Deweeeeb...the 2.7 is faster 0 to 60 then the 3.5.. this little motor is a crotch rocket... I guess you're used to your Subaru Turbo tweeeeeb mobile...
I just bought a 2019 STX. With everything this truck has without the sunroof for 30k it the door. And I’m averaging 25.4 highway 22.4 city. It also rips w/ 20 in rims! Oh wait... it doesn’t have a tie down cleat. Really? This high end review is stupid. Don’t waste your money
I call bullshit. You didn't buy an STX 4x4 crewcab for $30K out the door....unless you bought used. 25 hwy and 22.4 city? Maybe for a diesel. If not you're full of it.
You also don’t have power seats. That was the big deal breaker for me with the STX and why I went the 302a XLT. There’s a few other features to, but the power seats were the most important to me.
Why is it that guys who own half ton trucks always drive with an ego why do you drive with your left hand at the one position and with your hand draping over the steering wheel is it to make up for something else that you are afraid of or what is with the ego why do you drive like that is it because you're more manly than I am I'm not too sure about that
Mikey Smith / Horizontally Appozed it wasn’t my intention on acting like that and I truly don’t drive like that...for whatever reason when I talk to the camera...I do that. Lately I’ve changed my video style while driving so I don’t even have a camera facing me and I don’t distract myself to look over at it and keep both hands on the wheel. There definitely are a lot of people that get egos with trucks though, I know what you mean. A kid that drives by my house everyday floors it about once a block - so annoying. I appreciate you stopping by
Obviously it’s not meant for speed. So many other reviews talk about its speed. I barely talk about it. I like the pickup overall and show you a lot more about it besides how quick it is. What generation are you and who asked for your opinion? Ford gives me tricks because I give unbiased videos that get a lot of views - plus accurate information and helpful information. Great review as always 😊👍🏽.
Thank you very much! 😁
Good video. I knew you were in Texas before I saw the flag! The link to the tow info doesn't work. I've seen different tow numbers for the 3.15 axle ratio with a 2.7L. Can't get a definite answer.
Video was very helpful. I just bought a 2019 f-150 xlt Sport 4x4.
Glad to hear it, enjoy!
Jack rabbit starts and a heavy right foot throw the eco part of ecoboost right out of the window. lol
Very nice...thanks for sharing the info!
Not as peppy as you were expecting? 325 hp and 400 lb. ft. torque is pretty impressive for a 2.7L six. This thing scoots just fine.
I’m surprised with his comment about it not being peppy. This 2.7 is faster than the 3.5 and 5.0 v8 in a 0-60 run
Auto AWD requires an active transfer case which is more complex and therefore more expensive. I personally like being able to set it to 2WD.
I have 2 neighbors with EcoBoost f150 Each has one of each motor and all the time rave about them
I believe it...people I know do the same thing. They’re impressive for the size
Hey man great review! Nicely detailed!👌🏽
I appreciate that, thank you!
18.6 mpg is better than I experienced. I have a 2019 f150 with the 2.7 and I Average 16.5 mpg in mixed driving
Thanks! That’s awesome and you’re so right about that torque. Glad to hear it and enjoy your truck!
XLT with heated seats. It's all we need and more.
Just bought 2019 f150 xlt 5.0! So far 18mpg last week, so why not get the V8?
Richard Keith how much was the sales price?
@@fitzyboy1390 It was high. $55.000 after taxes.I also spent $3000.00 extra an spray in bed liner, mud flaps, wheel well liners and a roll top bed cover. Very worth it to me I keep vehicles for 14 years or more! Lots of power and has a great smooth ride.
Towing with the 3.5EB is superior. The 2.7 is good for just driving around and towing up to ~6000 pounds.
Maybe if you didnt drive it like it's a Mustang GT you'd get better GPM
Um I have NOT seen a 2019 or 2020 XLT with a "110v outlet" in the bed of the truck... I don't believe that starts until 2021... IF this truck has it, please show in pictures. My 2019 F150 XLT FX4 max tow 302a enhanced electronics does NOT have a 110v outlet in the bed, but so far, I love it. I have the 3.5, 10 speed and it does pretty good.
Beautiful review and thank you for the amazing details that you provided in this video. I think the same truck TFL had it in their review. Keep the hard work brother
I appreciate the kind words! Thanks a bunch!
2019 XLT, 4X4, 3.5, loaded.
Are there any reliability issues with this engine the truck I bought is a 2020 2.7 l xlt
If I could afford it I would go with the lariat trim level
Me too. Not too fancy, but not too basic. I like that the Lariat still has an optional bench seat available
I would like to see you review a Ram limited. Would be interesting to see if they really drive like a Cadillac compared to the competition.
I’ve been wanting to for a while, but I’ve been rejected from them twice. They told me I need 25k subscribers and then we will see. And I’ll be there in a couple of weeks hopefully so fingers crossed!
Is an STX the same as an XL? I noticed that the SXT's get overlooked, a lot.
21.8 mpg after 42,000 miles 2015 Ecoboost 2.7
Very nice!
The only thing I don't like it. On f 150s. Is the center console. I prefer bucket seat for extra person.
Are all 2.7 xlt turbo charged?
Nope you can actually get a 3.3 V6, 3.5 ecoboost V6, 5.0 V8 and 3.0 diesel also👍
yes the 2.7 are all twin turbos but not all V6s are turbo charged ie: 3.3l but thats a base engine
Not sure why you expected a 2.7 engine to be quicker. Most reviewers say it feels as responsive as the 3.5
That’s why I was expecting it to be quick because of other reviews I’ve seen and it’s timed 0-60. I was probably too hard on it regarding that but it was definitely good enough!
@@PrimeAutotainment That didn't come out right. What I mean was I'm surprise it didn't feel responsive to you because most reviewers think it's very responsive and that it's the preferred Ecoboost engine over the 3.5 because it balances performance and fuel economy very well.
i did not see the engine,, does it have a black plastic cover on top ?
You can see it briefly at 2:10.
No it actually doesn’t. Pretty easy access all around without a cover 👍
I did max payload on my ford 2.7 eco as a mobile detailed carrying water everyday gave me about 15-16 mpg unless I did sport mode then a little less but I just got a ford V8 also awesome power carry more payload but mpg a little less even been lite on foot on gas pedal it does 14-15 and sport mode or heavy on foot 12-13 big difference xlt 2wd eco against fordlarit 2wd
what colour of blue is this ????
It's called Velocity Blue. Almost identical truck to mine
I believe that is blue jean metallic?
Dude I want that sun roof lol
Extremely rare to find an XLT on the lot with that sunroof.
It really is, and nice. But just another thing that can and will fail over time--its a hole cut out of the roof. This is just what I tell myself to make me feel better for not having one 🥲
how much buy it
XLT with the leather seats with a 5.0 for me please
Maybe platinum..
Solid choice!
i love my 2019 f150 XLT3.5
Sport or Chrome Package?
What's your thoughts on the gear shifter?
I think I prefer the column shifter to free up extra space in the middle console area. I like using a middle console shifter more but I’d rather have the column shifter
@@PrimeAutotainment Thanks for responding.
No one in their right mind will opt for engine if they want a crew cab, 4x4, towing monster. Lol
U need to put it in sport mode
What did you expect !? A mustang ! It’s a truck with a little mighty , I believe 214ci engine. Let me guess , you probably had the A/C on too.. it is slower with it on...Quicker then most trucks on the road , and sport mode helps.
Lower trim more affordable...54k lol
👍💚💖
max towing for the 19 2.7 is 9000lbs not 7000lbs
Mike Milne not with this spec. As equipped (2.7L with 3.55 rear end, 4x4, SuperCrew shirt box...it’s 7,600lbs.) the only way you can get 9,000lbs for the 2.7L is a long box, 3.73 axle, and 2 wheel drive
@@PrimeAutotainment you can get a tow rating of 9000 lb in a regular cab 4x4. And 9000lb in a 4x2 and a 4x4 in the super cab. And 9000 lb in the 4x2 and 4x4 in the super crew body style
Maybe you're way cooler than I am I don't understand that women don't like men who show off and pretend to be better than others
$54k.... “mid level”. 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
I got mine for 36k. MSRP was 52k
MSRP. You don't truck much or buy much do you?
Bro its a truck not a civic 😆
These Ecoboost motors are junk. Work on them all the time and they have so many different issues as they age.
Horse From Hell thanks for stopping by! That’s a shame...would you take the 5.0 over any other F-150 engine?
Horse From Hell I still have my 2013 f150 ecoboost about to hit 200k miles been back and forth from ky to Mexico luckily I’ve never had and issues
here we go , another ecoboost expert .
Why is it that guys who own half ton trucks always drive with an ego why do you drive with your left hand at the one position and with your hand draping over the steering wheel is it to make up for something else that you are afraid of or what is with the ego why do you drive like that is it because you're more manly than I am I'm not too sure about that
What’s your problem?
Sorry just wondering why it happens,,,,, love the truck
Mikey Smith / Horizontally Appozed it wasn’t my intention on acting like that and I truly don’t drive like that...for whatever reason when I talk to the camera...I do that. Lately I’ve changed my video style while driving so I don’t even have a camera facing me and I don’t distract myself to look over at it and keep both hands on the wheel.
There definitely are a lot of people that get egos with trucks though, I know what you mean. A kid that drives by my house everyday floors it about once a block - so annoying. I appreciate you stopping by
Why do people pick their nose and why do some people never use a turn signal? The answer is because humans are not perfect :)
You got less periods than a high school in summer.
you want to get pushed back in your seat ?? , get a Mustang GT . , your driving a pick up truck >>> why do they get these milleniels to do reviews ?
Obviously it’s not meant for speed. So many other reviews talk about its speed. I barely talk about it. I like the pickup overall and show you a lot more about it besides how quick it is.
What generation are you and who asked for your opinion? Ford gives me tricks because I give unbiased videos that get a lot of views - plus accurate information and helpful information. If you don’t like a video, go make your own 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
