I’ll get any F-150 as long as it’s a coyote
Traded a 2018 f150 with a 5.0 for a 2021 with a 2.7 I would take the 2.7 it's a blast to drive and it eats hemis for breakfast
My brother has a 2015 2.7 V6, He tows 5K lbs every day, its got over 171K miles , all routine maintenance done by him, mobil 1 synthetic, never been to the dealership, still got original transmission, water pump both turbos and engine .
Tows a 5k boat everyday ? That’s pretty solid track record then . I have a 2011 f150 5.0 with 103k miles , no issues . Starting to look around for a new f150 low inventory everywhere . I think the 3.5 eco , 2.7 eco , and 5.0 are all good engines 👍
Which transmission do they have if I may ask?

2.7 is an over achiever. And can hold it’s own against anything out there. And it tows amazing
Great motor!! I had two of them and have nothing negative to say about them.
Is it a dog when your aren’t towing though?
Yup
Back in 2017 I bought a 2.7 Ecoboost STX F150, not a package we’d now call loaded, but compared to older F150’s got everything you really need. I’m nearly 60 and Sean to all your older followers I gotta say so far the most satisfying vehicle and reliable vehicle I’ve owned, now I’m about a month from my final payment and it puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. I never dog it when it’s cold and I always let it idle about a minute when I get home, old Turbo owners use to to do the idle cool down to extend the life of older Turbo engine vehicles not sure that’s needed now with these new turbos , but I do it. This lil engine is just a great engine, pulls strong and return about 20.4 mpg in the moutains of West Virginia. I’m hoping this truck lasts me many years not crazy about the ideal of EV’s son had a Tesla and seemed to me he was always worried where the nearest chargers were, don’t need that. Not proud I do this but sometimes I leave a 5.3 or 5.7 at the light to see their face when they realize a tiny lil V6 just left them at the light up to 60 mph, to old to go to jail and I ain’t very tough so 60 is my limit. GREAT VIDEO REALLY ENJOYED IT!!!
This brought a big smile to my face, thats awesome man!
I had a 2017 F-150 Now have a 2.7 . I do like it .
How many miles?
Wild and wonderful neighbor here. And congrats for the paid off 😊
Love this... Ford all the way!
I'm planning on buying a 2019 2.7L V6 EcoBoost xlt. I'm glad to hear everyone approves the towing and payload capacity, which is what I want it for. I might sound lame but I don't buy a truck for speed. Lol
Back in January of 2021 I bought a 2019 F150 STX Supercrew 2.7 ecoboost 4x4 in black with 14,000 miles. Looks very similar to your wife's truck. I absolutely love the truck and have nothing but good things to say about it, at first i was skeptical of the smaller ecoboost being a v8 guy. But this engine gets impressive fuel economy and has incredible acceleration and pulling power at low and high speeds mostly because of it's very light aluminum construction weighs 4,890 ibs. It has really surprised me in it's performance and i've driven the 3.5 and agree with you that they have similar feel in acceleration, but for someone who tows a lot the 3.5 is an easy choice. The only downside with the 2.7 is the exhaust note I miss from a v8. The ten speed is awesome because the gearing range is massive which means your axle ratio is far less important. 1st gear is like a crawler gear and in normal driving it shifts from 1st to 3rd and then to 5th which makes it feel similar to a 6 speed. I've found you rarely ever need 4x4 low because it has such a low 1st and 2nd gear. The other plus with having a small engine with liquid cooled exhaust manifolds is the cooling system and engine warm up very quickly in the winter and almost immediately blows hot air even on the coldest New England days. I love Ford's commitment to pushing the boundaries of technology and constantly building better trucks.
I just brought a used 2019 2.7 ecoboost f150 XLT, 44k miles. I am still waiting for my ordered 22 F350 6.7 Platinum Tremor and traded the 2007 6.0 to the dealer. I needed a temporary replacement vehicle. I am impressed by the 2.7 ecoboost. I recently installed a S&B intake..made a a difference in response. So far, I love this 2.7 ecoboost!
Blah, blah, blah… drop the 2nd and 3rd sentences. Nobody cares and they have nothing to do with your point.
@googlemail6996 lol are you a school teacher?
I bought mine in 2017 and with todays fuel prices, I am glad I bought this. I tow a camper with no issues since then. Almost 100k miles!
As a Ford tech i rarely see the 2.7 f150s in for failures.
I second that
But you see millions of 10 speeds and cam phasers don't you?
@@Paul-fk8qy yeah, phasers manly.on 3.5's and Ocassionally 5.0's. 10speeds like every other truck/ suv.
I bought my 2019 Ford f150 2.7 ecoboost in 2022 . It had 12,000 miles on it. Now it has 24,000 miles on it . I love it. It's a XLT Sport , in Magma Red . Very nice color , but hard to keep clean .
I bought a 2018 2.7 black crew cab. Love that truck. I use it to do landscaping, pick up the kids from school, grocery getter, beach truck and drives me to work and back.
Have one now for 4 years,,, absolutely power. Love it and highly recommend.
Most important part of the 2.7 is that it is on a cast iron block every other engine in the Ford lineup are on aluminum blocks.
That a good thing or bad? Aluminum is lighter iron is stronget
@@levis569 it’s a small displacement motor pushing a lot of power/torque. Those turbos forcing a lot of air and creating a lot of heat, it’s definitely a good thing. This 2.7 is making more power and torque than a 5.4 V8 which is practically twice the size.
That’s why I went with the 2.7. Didn’t want burning oil and I know a few people that had problems with the 3.5 (they were first gen) but CGI block like in the power stroke, good enough for me 😂
I’m in LOVE with my 2012 3.5 eco boost F150 FX4!!! I have 117k miles on it and (So far) haven’t had to put a penny into it other than regular maintenance. The eco boost motor is VERY reliable!

Future F150 may consider 5.0 if almost purely sea level.....3.5 if towing..... 2.7 absolutely if towing high altitude, but normally empty for great mileage.
Nice to hear somebody give the F150 EcoBoost the credit it deserves, I've been driving an F150 with the EcoBoost engines since they came out in 2011, never had a problem because I perform the maintenance. I use full synthetic motor oil and change every 5K now because I'm retired and most of my driving now is short distances. I now have two vehicles in my garage with the 2.7 in them, I get an average 21 MPG around town. Thanks again!!

This F150 has been reliable thus far. No concerns with it.
2.7?
I had a 2014 with a 5.0 I just bought a 2022 with a 2.7 and I really like it so far I've only had it a week but so far it's been great.
2018 f150 2.7 lariat eco boost. My fav truck so far.
I read on internet a lot of CK. Engine lights on 2.7 are due to spark plugs or coils . Nothing serious. Just thought you might want to know. Liked your video.
Got one and love it. 2017 2.7l with 42,000 miles so far and goodies man quick!
Thank you for your experience with the 2.7, I wanted a 3.3L NA, but went with 2.7 cause that's what my dealer got in with the truck I wanted. The power and acceleration is alarming, This is with 3.55 gear and 20's!
The 10 speed failed on one of our work trucks, a 2018 f150 with about 55k miles on it. It took 3 months to repair.
I’m starting to notice my transmission is starting to go to shit in my 2018 platinum

@@TruckCentral Powerstroke is going bye bye.
I just picked up a new 2021 sport packaged 5.0 and I love it. It has a 3.73 rear end and in my opinion pulls as good as any eco boost I’ve driven. They don’t get as good of gas mileage but that’s not why I bought a truck. But the sound of 6,800 RPM makes up for the loss in mileage. And no it doesn’t use any oil.
If you get 5.0 3:73 is definitely the way to go.
My 2018 reg cab with 2.7 has 3.73 gear and it pulls like a monster.I pulled a 24 foot pontoon up the side of a mountain and stomped it down and it snatched me back in the seat it took off so fast going up that straight up road.
@@Wesley3129 I know the Eco boost come in the 3.73. I put a 10,000 pound tri toon behind mine and it did surprisingly well. Didn’t get shit for mileage but it’s a truck😂
I absolutely love the 3.5! I am picking up a 2021 3.5 this Saturday. I still have my 2015 3.5L. Can’t wait!
When will the 3.5L ecoboost get a compacted graphite iron block and water cooled exhaust manifolds? Heck If the decision were mine to make, this would be the standard for all of Fords turbo charged truck engines. I love my 2.7L ecoboost! Trucks and turbos go together like peanut butter and jelly.
That will be interesting to see!
Agree. Im really liking my 2.7, Very impressive engine. I just hope it holds up to 250K miles like my old 5.4L
I've been to car shows where they had brand new trucks with like 13 miles on them and they had rust forming on the axle already, and that was every brand.
Understanding isn't just for the Salt Belt anymore.
It could be that every vehicle has rust going on the chassis…. It’s just that we see it on a truck cause they sit higher from the ground…..imho
My heart wanted a Tundra but the gas mileage killed it . F150 also has rear fold down seats with a flat floor.
My 19 F-150 is awesome but sometimes the check engine comes on and then it comes off a couple hours or the next day and it runs great!🤦🏼♂️ it’s a pretty great engine!
Im about to buy a 2019 2.7 with 200k miles. Mint condition
Please hold the camera still and not constantly zooming in and out
Just stick to the subject, 2019 F-150 2.7L ecoboost..... Thanks.
So far so good. No issues with my 2019 xlt 4x4 with the 2.7. The 10-speed is a bit clunky at times but so was my 2017 Tacoma 6-speed. So I don't bother me at all.
To your point about the 5.0 S Sean add to that that the 2021 5.0 has active fuel management so you may have some lifter issues to look at in the future
Good point
Overhead cam engines don’t have lifters.
If it weren't for the 10 speed and cam phasers I'd be driving this truck
My turbos went out at 150k. 5 grand. Still love it if u can get it for a good price it’s worth it. Better than 3.5 basically a diesel engine
Love my 22 F150 2.7. Just a little concerned about the clunking 10 speed transmission?
Dude, check the RAM videos comments, there are many talking about issues, and BARELY ANY TO NONE on Ford video comments... I'm a die hard ram fan, but I'm buying a Ford as a respectable reliable mature option
Why do people hate auto stop start? I like not burning gas while sitting at a traffic light. I live in Canada so it never goes off in the winter but on a hot summer day I’d gladly save the $$$
Though to listen to some rehearsals would be beneficial

2.7 ecoboost. Change your oil often. Use the oil your owners manual says to use. They have rubber oil pump drive belts. Very expensive to replace. Don't use oil additives.
If you still have this truck, what are your comments about the "Start/Stop" system after several years of use? How is your starter standing up to all the extra work it has to do? Will it wear out sooner than on trucks that don't use "Start/Stop"?
Get rid of the music or drop the volume down another 25% so we can hear you better

Doesn't matter which engine, if it's a 10 speed prep the coffin....
Nice truck 👊
I own a 2020 F-150 with a 2.7 and I have also been a Ford parts guy for 33+ years.
The MPG displayed on the dash is a lie. Mine always said I was at 19 or 20 MPG but, the calculator showed I was getting maybe 16.5 at best and most often much less. I even referred to it as the Lie-O-Meter .... Ford techs told me that is just the way it is. I said I don't care what the MPG is but I want an accurate display !!!
Anyway after much research I have found you need to adjust your AFI BIAS by default it is set to 1000 based on my numbers from the calculator I had to change that to 940 to get it close. I have a life time average of 16.7 which seems close to real world numbers.
This was a great video but when I hear someone mention the high MPG numbers I know that's just the dash telling them that and but the real numbers based on miles driven versus gallons pumped.
I figure my MPG at every fill up by dividing miles driven by gallons pumped. I’ve never relied on any manufacturers dash numbers.
@@spatulaman2753 I've gotten it calibrated correctly now.
But still check it
Good information! It also annoys me when those are not accurate. My Sierra is always close (within 0.5mpg of hand calculated).
I'm getting almost 20 around. I checked it and it's very close to what the dash says. I like the fuel economy but I didn't buy a truck for that. If I was worried about fuel economy I would have bought a Corolla
@@Tom-yj6mt good story. I didn’t realize they made corollas which could carry sheets of drywall or atvs. I’ll have to check that out! 🤦♂️

Hey @TruckCentral any advice for trying to remove an over torqued oil filter cap? Without breaking it off?
I like the 2.7 EcoBoost. My only complaint is that I can definitely notice timing being reduced much sooner compared to other turbocharged engines I’ve tested.

I got a 2020 f150 xlt 4x4 2.7 ecoboost with towing package and extra capacity fuel tank, I added the timberline suspension bump stops in the rear , so far my mileage has been really bad, I drive mine 90 percent highway and have never had it over 70. I drive real easy when I am in town and I always use cruise control on the highway, the highest mileage I have even got was around 15.7 I was surprised at the low mileage and if I was towing I could understand but this is just all highway driving , the only reason I got the f150 over a f250 was for the better mileage ,I wish I would have got the f250 now since mileage isn't much different , so I may trade now for a f250 with the 7.3 since I don't need a diesel and I can't imagine getting much worse mileage then I am now I have never had it in for any issues and have done al my own oil changes, but after a year of easy driving and never going over 70 I am ready to get a f250 now
That doesn't seem right my 2019 F150 stx 4x4 2.7 truck averages 16-17 mpg and i drive mostly around town very little highway. But when I do drive highway trips It easily gets 19-21 mpg. I did switch to premium 93 fuel full time because I found it got much better fuel economy. I'd give premium fuel a shot or maybe some good fuel system cleaner and lubricant like lucas oil.
@@SkylarRace yes I agree ,I was hoping for a little better mileage,
when I bought the truck I was using premium every fill up and then went to 50/50, now I fill up one time with premium and the next with regular. it hasn't seemed to do any better using one or the other , I am still driving 90 percent highway and the latest reading is 15.7 from my last trip , I did go to the dealer they checked it out said it was doing fine and keep driving it ,so that's what I have been doing ,I rarely go over 70 and have probably never been over half throttle since I owned it ,so I am going to just keep driving it and even tho I like the truck I will probably get a f250 when I see one since mileage can't be much different,
@@donm3844 switching back and forth between fuel grades won’t make a difference. I’d give 2 or 3 fill ups with premium a shot just to see if it makes a difference I know it did for me by about 2 mpg.

@@donm3844 Right it doesn’t make sense to pay $20 more unless the increased mileage comes close to covering the difference. Tell me you trade this in. Because I just bought this seem exact truck. Used I came on here about the same thing. The 10 speed transmission
What state did you buy your truck from?
@@TruckCentral Florida but the car facts shows it came from Michigan
It’s definitely possible. It’s a good truck. It was traded in on a PowerBoost (which will be in a Truck Central video very soon)
@@TruckCentral lol power boost for towing correct?
I’d trust that old Sierra you had over the ecoboost Ik those things go 300k miles
Definitely not any new sierra’s! Gms quality went to crap. I see plenty of ecoboost with over 150k. Give em a few more years you will see some with 300 k
@@michaelH0000 no I wouldnt trust the new ones either, I was talking about the 1st gen Sierra 99-07, those were some of the best trucks gm ever made, the 2.7 ecoboosts are cool I just dk if they’d make it to 300k without a major fix
@@eternalthread7846 I agree I love the 99-07 gm trucks. Some of the best trucks ever made. And they have gone down hill with that stupid AFM crap. Other then that wouldn't be so bad. But there's a blog of a hot shot driver that did 460k miles all original drive train on his 2016 f150 2.7l. purge solenoid went out around the 320k range and water pump around 430k miles other then that all original. Of course all highway I'm sure. But they can go distance.
Absolutely not .. between 21 to 22 708k engine's and under investigation 2.7 liters And 3.0 liter turbos
When does he stop talking about the motor?
when does he stop clogging up the fast lane?
5.0 FOR THE F150 NEVER A V6
3.5 slaps a 5.0 any days i have had all 3 powertrains. Other than reg v6
@@michaelH0000 M Y 5.0 IN MY TRUCK HAS 500 HORSE POWER
@@michaelH0000 it slaps it in everything except reliability and sound plus the 5.0 is plenty for a half ton truck anyway
@@haroldrose7507 what mods?

Gtfo my first v8 experience was a 5.3 sle rwd Sierra as well, man 5.7 ram mopar boys would not keep up
If the engines are really that powerful (not only this but nearly all new pseudo trucks) why do they have 8-10 speed transmissions? To make up for the lack of power? I did check DS-TRUCKS page and it's all Ford. Hmm.
