I came here after I visited special children home in my city in India. Didn't you watch the video? The mom did not know she had HIV. In the USA, all pregnant women get test for HIV so that treatment can start immediately to prevent passing in HIV to the baby. This does not happen in African countries.
One of the biggest mistakes we have made in Africa is to label HIV as a disease for promiscuous people. We have done so much for adults to the point of reducing ARVs to 1pill a day but have neglected the children! Shame. Can we correct this error please
I am very saddened to day thos but why disnt that second mother take her medication during the pregnancy to prevent the child contracting the virus. The medication prevents mother to child transmission. Now the child has to suffer.
If you go to a clinic doctor some of them don't give the mother the drugs to prevent the baby from having hiv. If the mother test negative. I had a concern about my baby because I lived a wild life before finding out I was pregnant. I was with 2 men one is clean the other maybe not. I came to find out he was with a prostitute for a year and he's afraid to know his status. I told my doctor at the time this and asked her to put me on meds to prevent the baby from getting hiv just incase. She did as little as possible and gave me a strange look. Then she had one of her clinic nurses test me and my test was negative, so she ignored my request and sent me home. Now I'm due in 3weeks & I find out the guy maybe hiv positive, because his x girlfriend is positive. I'm still negative, but I'm worried about my baby. Before finding out I was pregnant we exchange a lot of body fluids orally (i know it's disgusting) I'm trying to sue my x doctor, but most lawyers have said I don't even have a case against the doctor, because it's my word against hers. I hope my baby is okay and I don't try to murder her. The government will never release a cure for hiv and I don't know if I'll be able to sit back and watch my baby sick for the rest of her life. I hear if you have a good doctor & find a good holistic doctor people can live long lives with the disease but I'm honestly broke.
