Growing up in a fairly liberal area, there seems to be a huge split contrast in attitudes which ends up making people less educated. Conservative extremists blame it on sin, and shame homosexuality , drug use, and AIDS entirely; sex education is often shunned as well. On the opposite end, liberal extremists believe that sex education should be primarily about pregnancy risks, and how the birth control pill (or Depo) is revolutionary and the safe and sane option for every female. Liberals are often against discouraging promiscuity, or factually talking about the risks of homosexual sex because "there is nothing wrong with being gay".
According to the CDC, Buzzfeed's recommended source, if a man starts having sex with men, their chance of getting HIV "is more than 44 times that of other men (rate ranges from 522 to 989 per 100,000 MSM compared to 12 per 100,000 other men)." Promiscuity has led to the spread of Genital Herpes, with 15% of females aged 14-49 having it, 30+% for those who are African-American.
Unfortunately Sex-Ed teachers do not want to say that it is extremely important for gay men to practice safe sex, unless they're in a monogamous relationship with both partners being STD free. Oral herpes is spreading to genitals - it's ok for schools to give out condoms to stop pregnancy, but not dental dams.

Partner selection (avoiding high risk people) is way more effective than using a condom.
Part of that is avoiding persons belonging to certain races.
The CDC stats are clear. You might hate the facts, but science doesn't lie.
The best way to protect yourself against HIV, avoid sex with the high risk groups :
      >Black men and women
      >IV drug users
      >gay men
      >women who have sex with members of high risk groups
IV drug users have really cleaned up their act and are becoming infected far less often than before.
Straight White men who avoid high risk partners have such a low rate of infection that their numbers are combined with hemophiliacs, needle stick victims and babies infected at birth, in the group the CDC calls "other".
This is necessary because showing their figures on the same graph as blacks, gays, and women who have sex with blacks and bisexuals, would be too politically incorrect. The difference too extreme.
To put it in perspective, a white man who only has sex with white women, and avoids those who belong to, or have sex with high risk groups, has about the same chance of catching Hiv each year, as he does of being struck by lightning.
Most people simply don't read the reports properly to know this.
Superscript and subscript is there for a reason, follow it, understand what the stats are telling you.
The fact that the best and most effective way to protect against infection (safe partner selection) is NOT taught in sex ed, to avoid hurting feelings, is criminal.

Wow!! Seeing so many people support individuals living with HIV is so uplifting. Thank you guys for being so kind and empathetic towards us. I'm HIV positive and have been undetectable for a few years now. And its definitely been really hard, when I was first diagnosed I was in such denial it took me a year to find treatment because I was so scared and embarrassed. At one point they cut my insurance off so I couldn't afford to get the medication. When I got back on medication I was on at least 8 pills a day to get my CD4 count up. I was so scared😭😢. Now I'm only down to 2 pills a day and I'm undetectable. So thank you so much for the support and kind words. Makes me believe there's hope for a cure and a future😢🤗😊😀😇

@Nero Machiavelli Easy E never had HIV, he was killed
Suge Knight admitted on a interview on Jimmy Kimmel that EASY E WAS INJECTED WITH AIDS.
If Easy E had HIV his wife would’ve been positive and no females came foward

I’ve watched this video for so many times already. And it touches me every single time - even more. And it’s another sign. That in our gay scene, we need to stop discriminate ourself and start again, to be nice to each other.

This made me cry. Because of men like these I was able to get prep after I was raped, probably protected me from contracting HIV. Thank you.

Mwikali Kilonzo you have to take prep first. It doesn’t work if you have sex with a HIV positive man and after you take prep.

What is mind blowing is how far we've come from it since the 80s. People today didn't see how "death sentence" it was was. It was truly tragic, a lot of men died ashamed and isolated from society. I don't remember who, but a Doctor was quoted saying "I'd rather be HIV-positive than have Diabetes." HIV is more manageable than Diabetes.

This took me back to SF in 1986 so fast... We've come so far, but how much faster could we have got here if research had been better funded? How many more of my friends would still be alive? It hurts, but I'm glad there is some hope now. We can not stop pushing to make people aware and educated. Love to both of you!

I so understand Keith, when he said he was most afraid of never being able to ride horses again! Me, myself I also have a chronic illness, which let’s say could make my life in a couple of years pretty hard and I‘m strangely not afraid of dying but of living a life, that isn’t worth living for. And riding horses is a big part of my life...
But I wish both of you everything in the world! And stay strong, you got this!
    Love, Sarah

I came here because of one thing: Decades of HIV research is what helped us develop vaccines for COVID-19 so quickly. A recent news story states that this, in turn, has helped speed up HIV research. We've come full circle but sadly, it took the whole world to care and actively contribute research, knowledge and skills to the matter to get us to an HIV vaccine... aka: COVID-19 Pandemic. Without this, HIV research would've continued at a much slower pace.
