I'm so happy this group exists and that you all survived. Incredible warriors you all are!
I was diagnosed in 1985, I've outlived most close friends. I got so comfortable knowing I was going to die soon, that I forgot how to live. I never really regained that knowledge. Chronic depression, drug toxicity, etcetcetc. With help, I realized my real issue was feeling that I was no longer in control of my life. When I realized suicide was the ultimate control I felt remarkably better. It seems counter-intuitive but when I actually found a therapist who would discuss suicide with me without diving for the phone, it was a relief. I'm not saying suicide is no longer on the table, it definitely is ,but somehow seems less likely
You have lived with hiv for 34 years while others couldn't live to see another year, there is a reason you are still with us Bob, I know its hard but dont give up. Stay healthy

Aging with AIDS, I lost all my t-cells by 1990 (pos since 1981). With all the drugs they never fully returned. It's AIDS not HIV. Long term surviver is for people with AIDS , who developed AIDS before treatment was available. Those who had some or many defining illnesses like, CMV, PCP, Toxoplasmosis, KS and so many others. Today HIV+ is for people after treatment was available (1994 Crixovan) while still having an amunosystem with t-cells . If treated before they lose t-cells (below250 count by blood test) with a one pill triple drug once a day , then they will never develop AIDS ( if they respond well, and are consistent with there therapy. AIDS is acquired from many years ( around ten )with no treatment.
Many people today just have HIV, not AIDS. WHY, because affective treatment has been around for 25 years.

So how come some people live for more than 30 years whereas others perished within a 5-10 year span back in the 80s? Did it have to do with alcohol or drug abuse as well?

I was diagnosed this february… and sometimes i feel like I’m loosing my grasp on life amd reality, my second count is soon but I’m scared that my number might be higher now…
Update, i was totally exaggerating and I’m totally fine, life goes on in the exact same ways as before

@@vitrealisvein yeah, it’s really not that different, we also need to know that the bad things that happen after a great trauma like this is are not related to the virus, in ways like if we fail in anything we might feel less strong but that’s not the case. You can do it guys and girls, just hold your soul, step strong and keep moving on

Thank you God ( and protease inhibitors) for still being here after living 30 years with the scariest virus known to man. To all my friends that died in the 80s and 90s, I'll NEVER forget you and promise to live my life with gratitude. I was 26, now I'm 56.

@@abhaysinghkanwar6354 Thank you for asking. I'm in great shape. My TCells are that of a normal person. Thankfully I've reached 55 and am beginning to have issues like high BP that most deal with but when I die, it will not be from HIV or AIDS. So, yeah, I'm great.
Please does the white blood cells (neutrophils)get too low even when you on medication And undetectable .and what can one do to help maintain and bring up .

Tez very brave he is and fought with his disease so well and survived...but Today is AIDS prevention day and we all must strict measures to prevent it as its prevention is lot better than cure...long treatment of very heavy drugs....blood transfusion, try to keep in a single relationship and avoid drug addiction and make this world free of this deadly disease which is created by we humans due to our un-human behavior....
