Francisco Sagasti, former President of Peru, brings valuable insights from leading a nation through turbulent times. His tenure was marked by navigating political and social crises with resilience and strategic thinking. In his talk, President Sagasti shares firsthand accounts of the challenges he faced, critical decisions made under pressure, and lessons learned in managing crises and balancing competing interests. His story is about perseverance, adaptability, and the human spirit's capacity to overcome adversity. Dr. Francisco Sagasti is professor, Pacífico Business School, Lima Peru, and senior affiliated researcher at the Instituto de Estudios Peruanos. He was President of the Transition and Emergency Government in Peru, congressman, head of his parliamentary caucus, and chair of the Science and Technology Committee. He has been a fellow at the Wilson Center for International Scholars; a senior researcher and executive director at FORO Nacional Internacional; Chief of Strategic Planning at the World Bank; Chairman of the United Nations Advisory Committee on Science and Technology; visiting professor at the Wharton School, the Instituto de Empresa, and the University for Peace; consultant to international public, private and non-profit organizations; Chairman of the Science and Technology Program at the Prime Minister’s Office in Peru; member of the Board of Governors of the Canadian Center for International Development Research (IDRC) and other international organizations; and founder and former Executive Director of GRADE, a leading Peruvian think-tank;. He has published more than 130 papers and 30 books. He has received the Paul Hoffmann award, created in honor of the administrator of the Marshall Plan and first UNDP director; the first Robert K. Merton award of the International Sociological Association, created to honor the memory of the pioneer of the sociology of science; and the Edgardo Habich award, created in honor of the founder of the National Engineering School of Peru in the 1870s. Definitely, one of the most well-educated, pretty honest and effective Peruvian President in the last 20 year. His very few detractors come from or have some connection with the organised crime that control some political parties.

Uno de los mejores presidentes del que uno como peruano se sentía orgulloso de ser representado por este gran profesional, preparado, de mirada técnica, con sensibilidad social, de las que muchos en mi entorno nos sentimos muy representados. Una pena que los peruanos no elijamos gente así, felizmente este señor representó a un porcentaje de la población peruana que aún quiere el desarrollo de todos sus habitantes y no solo de unos pocos.

It's good to watch Sagasti as spoken person knowing he was within the government -even in troubled times- sadly only for short time. Hopefully someday, and not only in the academic field, he can keep helping Peru. We need more people with vocation of service.

Los peruanos tienen mala memoria, o ya no se acuerdan cuando la DBA quería quitarle méritos a la consecución de vacunas del presidente Sagasti diciendo que la vacuna es dañina y demás fake news. Ahora nos gobierna la japonesa desde las sombras y ya vendió todo nuestro país a los chinos con su marioneta sentada en Palacio de Gobierno. Este hombre y su gestión salvó miles y miles de vidas y en las urnas casi nadie votó por su partido.

En su gobierno él retificó a la ministra de salud que se había va cun ado a costa de todos nosotros. Además quitó requisitos a cargos importantes (e.g. asesores como Bruno Pacheco que guardó 20 K USD en el baño de palacio) como favor para que el gobierno que lo sucedió, pueda contratar a una persona con solo secundaria.
Este señor es un c0 b ar de que no fue elegido, además de las circunstancias donde consiguió el poder poder medio de la coacción de la izquierda cavernícola y vi ol en cia que avaló. A esta gente los tratas vi ole ntamente y lloran, pero son capaces de avalar cuando los vientos corren a su favor.

Says who? A Fujimorist follower? As far as we all see Sagasti is the only peruvian president that has not been convicted. You can’t say the same about Fujimori, Toledo, Alan Garcia or Humala. Without a doubt Sagasti is a decent man a great president in Peruvian history

la inestabilidad ya venía desde más antes, ya con ppk, y en parte con Vizcarra y el congreso al que terminó disolviendo.
Se terminó agravando con la vacancia a Vizcarra, y luego el analfabeto de Castillo, Sagasti si quiera fue un pequeño respiro (en lo que se puede decir)
