That’s nice. I found it a good balance is trick for me. Higher humidity would protect them from higher temp, less water would protect them from root rot. They are doing ok in my greenhouse… and yet, I still lose some. 🤷🏻♂️ Super helpful info!
Indeed, it is all about that balance for these orchids! Thank you! And I still lose some as well, it just happens....
Thank you so much for this video I am trying to grow them again recently purchased two very healthy plants that are in spike. They are in mini bark, and I will leave them in that until the blooms are done and I will repot one in pumice and Pon mix and cross my fingers for both of them. Happy growing!!
If you can wait for them to get in active growth again, then you definitely should! The new roots should take the new setup, but if you see black root tips on the new roots in the first week after the repot. Don’t shock 😂 they will start growing again in my experience. I had this happened quite a few times on especially Miltoniopsis orchids! Just give them some time. RO water and some kelp/seaweed does do wonders if you ask me. Good luck and please let me know how it goes! ❤
Another SUPER video on Miltoniopsis care in pumice. I've sent you photos so you could see the AMAZING success I have had adopting your system. I am truly blown away by how easy it was, doing my darnedest to follow your videos and suggestions while using fertilizers and supplements available to me in Canada. My plants had been established in bark mix media so I felt rather brutal, but gentle as I could be to extricate most of the bark out. The only one that is lagging is my 'John Leathers' came bare root, but it wasn't a strong plant yet to begin with. It still managed to push out 3 spikes all the same. Plant is crappy looking at this point, so a waiting game! You know I am a huge fan of all the beautiful Miltoniopsis' in your collection. I have a young M. Twin Peaks working on 3 spikes. Lucky me... dear Yoshi (orchidsbythelake) has been able to get me 3 more: Lilian Nakamoto, M. Andrea West(I know you are wanting this beauty.😍), and a Morris Chestnut. I am SO excited to be going Saturday to pick them up. Thanks so much Eelke for sharing your diligent learning curves! 🙏🥰💖
I am officially jealous 😂 and thank you so much! I did see the pictures you send me and I did send an email back, did you get it? The plants/ blooms did look so beautiful! It makes me very happy to read that this system works for more people! ❤🎉
@@TheOrchidSaGa Yes I did get your email back. I should have let you know. I often don't so as not to unnecessarily tie up busy folks emails and time/energy. That you are jealous... Good! 🤣 It goes both ways Eelke! Much gratitude and appreciation! 🙏💖
Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
You’re welcome!
The roots are growing really well in the net pot , but I think down the road, it would be difficult to change the pot without damaging the roots.
It will indeed. My thinking was that in that case we will at least have roots to work with. But it is not that handy. So I do use them but on plants that root quick and easy, brassia and cattleya types. Not Miltoniopsis anymore. I like to use a regular pot with more, bigger, holes in the pot. Those will be way easier to repot!... Thanks! :D
great video, very informative ,the easiest orchids to grow in my conditions
Then you are lucky, if you like growing them of course 😂 … I did need some adjustments but they do well now in my orchid room.
Your Miltoniopsis are so beautiful
Thanks!
Hi -thanks for sharing your care experience. I’ll check out your other care video too. I lost most of mine last year due to spider mites and orange rot. Do you ever experience orange rot or have you?
I should have mentioned that in the video! But I did have orange rot in the beginning, but since I have good airflow I didn’t have it anymore on my plants!
This time of year whenever I let people in the grow room they are not allowed to touch anything because of the critters they can bring in 😁
I understand that completely 😂I do have the greenhouse door open so I do get aphids very easily inside… something I kinda learned to live with 😂.
@@TheOrchidSaGa 😁
Several years ? that's way too long I need instant gratification 😁
😆🤣😂🤣 I'm with you on this Ynse! 😅 I start pouting if they are slow getting down to the business of growing and blooming. 😆
@@robirobinson3602 😁 I have one that did the spike and flowers in two weeks
@@YnseSchaap Seriously? 😲A Miltoniopsis? If so, what were the temps? Knowing well enough M's don't like high temps.
@@robirobinson3602 No my Eria did that (should have said that)
Haha That’s why I have so many orchids, the rest fill’s up the waiting time! 😂
My Milton has brown tips and I’m not sure why? If you know what might be going on please let me know!! It has finally bloomed and it was so pretty but now it is getting brown tips on the leaves.
That’s most of the time a lack in calcium and that happens when the roots do not work, or the pH is not good in your mix. Does it have a good root system? And is the media still ok?
