  • Exercising with a rotator cuff tear can be risky but also beneficial if you can do the right exercises in a way that doesn't hurt OR feed into the muscle imbalance that leads to a torn rotator cuff.
Shoulder exercises while nursing a rotator cuff need to focus on taking pressure off the tendons.
That means it is NOT a good idea to do exercise that adds a lot of tension to the rotator cuff muscles and tendons.
In this video, Dr. David shares with you 2 shoulder exercises that are safe to do with a rotator cuff tear.

Hi Hbgriss, that is very disappointing to hear that your Dr. isn't taking your situation seriously. One of our team members had the same thing happen to a family member. Those umbrellas can be dangerous to deal with. Imaging is known to not be reliable. You know your body better than anyone and if you are feeling pain then it is important to get a second opinion.

I’ve watched literally like every video they have. He recommends using a sling as much as possible in the beginning if you have extreme pain. Sounds like you probably should be doing that. I have been using the sling and making sure my arm is supported when I’m sitting. It’s helped a lot. Also, make sure you’re not overextending your arm back when you do the rotation.
