Perkins, Continental, Ford, Detroit, Lister, all have built small HP diesel engines. Not any more probably. I'm not an expert by any means but have seen older USA small diesels. Look up Hatz 1b20, 4.7 HP, or 1b30. I own a 1b20. A very cheap price for a new electric start with 3 liter fuel tank is $1250. More often $1850. That buys a Honda, Kohler Command Pro, Robin, B&S gassers and leaves $1000 left for fuel. Ps, the HATZ will break down and parts are, well, let's just say the plastic fuel tank
