You are the first coach who has unlocked the ‘permission’ for me to move my head in the backswing and really feel that weight load. At the range with driver today and I realized this is the key. I had so much time at the top of the swing to make contact with the ball (and started carrying it 30 yards further)
Yep. It's truly mind boggling there are people still telling people to keep the head still. Jim McClean wrote an article for Golf Digest July 2001. He measured pros heads at set up and at the top. Tour average head movement was 3.6 inches. Average amatuer was .7 of an inch. Just watch pros heads. You can clearly see them move. Once you start moving it you get so much more power. Glad you see it.
Paul I can't believe that worked. Suffered from a pull shot for years and it appears that a slight head cock to the left has been the culprit. Had lessons from some noted teaching professionals and none noticed that shift. So simple to have a correct swing sequence again. Many thanks Paul.
This is a very good explanation of a common fault in golf. I had it sneak into my swing this year. This is an excellent drill. Thanks Paul. Great swing thought.
Paul Wilson Golf well you earned it. My goal in spring is to meet you for a possible lesson If I fail I'm just gonna play Big Beers best, I've played it twice do far
Excellent video, thanks Paul. I was doing a reverse pivot without realising it. It would have been even better if you could have included a slo-mo of your entire swing as we would then be able to see your hips firing and weight shifting. Thanks again.
Every single time my golf swing falls apart, theres an insta fix for me SOMEWHERE on Paul's channel. Youre the fkin man brother! This got me striping it arrow straight immediately. All i did was make sure the brim of my hat stayed tilted down to the right. FEELS like im swaying in the backswing (but I'm not, just speaks to how bad i was doing the reverse), and pushing the ball out at impact (but again, im not lol). Unless if I really over do it I can either hit a little slinging draw, or maybe SCRAPE just a little ground behind it here and there (which is FINE, because that just means im delivering at a better angle). Thank you for all that you do Pauly.
great tip you know this amazing i just caught myself doing this today hooked one out of bounds but it hit tree came back in play...yep i caught myself putting to much weight on lead leg at address an i didnt shift right..i been playing so much better watching you cause i am trying to improve so im trying to notice every swing.i know it takes time to get all the bad i tried back out.I also figured out what i was doing pulling i was closing the club head at address when i gripped it i felt it all i need open it up now its straight now i have to work on that stop lining up to right i got to trust it..
i remember this what you told me few weeks ago so i been watching for this more for my bad shots what i done..YOU WAS right yet again this what i was doing
That was the common problem today at the golf course, there were balls flying everywhere, you can hear them bouncing from one tree to another. I'm happy to say that was the first time in a long while I never lost a ball. All in all, no matter how good or bad each others swing or outcome was we had great fun, wouldn't trade it for the world.
Hi Paul to avoid the reverse pivot altogether why not simply bump the lead hip slightly forwards creating a reverse k on our trail side just before we swing. This way we have minimise our chances of doing the reverse pivot from the start.
Not sure what I am doing is a reverse pivot but I do the first part (head in front of the ball on the backswing) but it stays there, the weight never goes back to the back foot. Any drills for this?
That would be a reverse pivot so you need to get your head moving. Watch: ruclips.net/video/5vq92sBQyU4/видео.html ruclips.net/video/gIp4ifKuZIw/видео.html Start with that. This is a different feeling so do lots of practice swings to get used to it. Then tee up your ball and hit easy 7 irons until you get used to it.
Never do that. EVER EVER EVER. This is clubface manipulation. There is no way the average person is ever going to square the clubface consistently doing that.
My right leg is longer than my left and it causes me to reverse pivot. Have you ever helped someone with this issue? Feel like i've tried everything in my setup to compensate with no luck.
Never really taught anyone where the leg was that much longer it was causing a reverse pivot. I would think you can still move the head and load as I suggest. Just got the get your head moving as you go back. Practice with the hat. You can also do this: ruclips.net/video/4RwbTnDIdI4/видео.html and think like this: ruclips.net/video/rbKzTzfMNCg/видео.html you go down with your lead shoulder and you will never get this fixed.
@@paulwilsongolf This is HUGE. Im right eye dominant and have been looking at it with my left eye.. I can feel how the backswing should be different using the right eye. Will report back this week with results. Thanks Paul. I have a buddy who thinks your videos are fake and no way you hit it as far as you say. That's a great compliment when people don't believe it
Well, tell your buddy the story. Here it is. I remembered that hole and thought it would make a good tip. We were going to shoot it that day once we got to the back nine. That day they told us we were starting on the back. There was a 2 some right behind us. I need to shoot that tip. So I grabbed the 3 golf balls and hit them. I then realized I needed to hit the ball I was playing and we needed to wait for the other 2 guys we were playing with to tee off from the white tees. This is why we stopped the camera. The hole is almost straight when you are standing on the tee. It said 320 and that is the yardage I was going with. When I got up there there was mud on my ball. There was an upslope from the water to the green. Not sure how long it actually was but ball 1 almost flew on the green. So your buddy can believe me or not. He can also come out and watch me. I have not problem with that. Right now I am not hitting it quite as long as I have serious right hip pain (probably from teeing up millions of balls for people) but I am close. Working on a swing to take the pressure off this hip. Oh yeah tell your buddy he missed the point of the tip. If I can hit it that far with an effortless swing why would you want to swing hard?

Hello paul Do you not believe in the stack and tilt teaching keeping 55 % 60% of the weight on lead foot and pivoting around that. I came off stack/tilt 3 or 4 months ago after a lesson with a pro. I've stuck to it but just not progressing at all stood still for 3 or 4 months but stack/tilt I was improving every round and I'm going to go bk on it. Bad shots on stack/tilt was still acceptable, bad shots on transferring weight to back foot then on to lead foot just was terrible fat shots thin shots all to much timing for the average golfer in my eyes. But thanks for your videos i watch them alot and take some Tips out of um but for me stack and tilt is very consistent ball striking 👍
Why would I teach people a reverse pivot? Now you are doing a sidways/sideways movement. Irons are okay cause you have enough loft. Good luck hitting driver. Plus you see serious compression in the spine in the follow through. Just read comments about it. If you are following them and it is working for you then only follow them. My stuff is definitely not compatible.
Big mistake. Your head moves in a golf swing. It would only be dead still if you had one leg or your feet together. This would be because you have one axis. In a golf swing your feet are spread apart and you have one head. You move it to create the first axis. You hit the ball with it back there. Then after impact it moves forward creating the second axis in your swing. I explain it in this tip: ruclips.net/video/RM4OX3m2-90/видео.html

Yes, one swing all clubs. Minimal changes between them.
What are your thoughts about a natural bowed wrist at the top of the back swing? Do you consider this a flaw?
