I stand in front of my computer screen (empty handed) and mimic his body movements (shoulders, weight shift, etc.) to "feel" what he's conveying! Thanks so much. Simple is the key for sure. So glad you are trying to replicate it. It's all about understanding and a little practice. Too many people only practice once a week. This is not enough. You need to do this stuff daily which is why I keep telling people to do practice swings between range sessions. This really is the fastest, easiest way to get it. Keep up the good work and thanks for the support.

It's only been about 2 week since I found your channel on youtube, so I'm sure I will be able to perfect my driving skills with more time and practice. Thanks tons Paul.
Hey Paul, This tip has helped me A TON. My thought process with the driver involves 4 words. Slow - for the back swing. Hinge - the wrists. Loose - to keep my hands loose and not swing with my arms. Hips, to fire off my swing. I played 9 holes tonight and all 9 drives were playable. The farthest drive was right around 250 yards. I don't feel like I'm swinging hard at all and I was hitting as far as the guys I was playing with tonight and they are league players. I'll keep practicing with my driver and now start transitioning to the irons. Cause they need a lot of work. I'm confident with your tips I'll be able to better my game even more. This is such a brilliant way to make this point. I’m soooooo guilty of taking it to the top in a violent fashion. Only now am I recently realizing better performance by chilling out on the backswing.
I usually can hit my driver 250 to 280. After practicing these techniques I hit 280 to 330 with less effort. I get people at the range ask me about my driver. But this vid helped me make the difference.
You can do it! Make sure you watch my other tips so you get the concept. Also, try not working on too many things at once. Pick out a couple of things and work on them. I would start here: Grip: ruclips.net/video/jQZLp8bF-Ww/видео.html Wrists: ruclips.net/video/6ZeTqcz2pmE/видео.html
I haven't played in 8 years, and recently got back on the course and it was a disaster. I went looking for help and continued to struggle until I found this channel. Within only a week I went from literally missing the ball with my driver to knocking it 250 yds down the CENTER of the fairway - granted that's happening about 40% of the time - but it's actually happening!! I just have to swing easy and loose and fire my hips and BOOM! - I'm continuing to learn and I have no doubt in my mind... 300 here we come!!
Very good. Love hearing it. I have taught many people in your situation who took a break and are getting back into it. Anyone in this situtation will hit with their arms when they get back into golf. This is due to human nature. I talk about it in this tip: ruclips.net/video/fuOJxv_22Hk/видео.html

Always interested exactly what's going on in your mind during the golf swing....I like coiling on the backswing....then when fully hinged...fire the hips...right instep + belt buckle cues...then loose wrists...hinge/unhinged to full finish......
Right now I am working on things to keep pressure off my right hip. Been working on this for quite a while now so what I am thinking right now is not necessarily what I would be thinking regularly. In the past I would crank my left shoulder until tight. Then fire my hips letting my arms go wherever they wanted. To uncoil I was pushing with my right instep but haven't done this in a few years now to keep the pressure off. Sorry I also feel my left wrist set in the position I like at the top. If I feel it set the ball is hit straight. Find things that you can repeat. This is the key.
Powerful tip. Having the right thoughts helps me with concentration which is key. I visualize myself coming through and turning in a perfect position just before I take away. Works well. Went back and watched your grip tip from your perspective, terrific tip👍 Clarified a couple of things for me. I've been taking extra time on my grip and setup. Discovered there a different levels of a good grip.
Fantastic lesson Paul. You have changed my game. My 15 year old daughter has started coming to the range with me. She really is developing a passion for it. Any suggestion on a good lesson for her to start with?
Glad to help. Kids get my stuff super fast. Have her watch my student who literally read my book and watched my videos. This is her at 1.5 years of playing 7 hdcp. She did that on her own then this is the first time she came to me for lessons: ruclips.net/video/I8WRHJkTzyY/видео.html (It even looks better now) Try to get the grip close. Taller set up athletic like short stop position. See her follow through? Legs touching and club around. Start with that then get the shoulder coil and hinge in the backswing. That is the whole swing.
Paul is one of two go to’s when my game is a disaster. Similar age but I’m 6’3 and 265 and can’t consistently hit it like Paul. I’ve seen the video of him clearing a lake so he’s legit. Something thought about firing the hips I seem to be out/in or over the top with dead left pulls……or just top it. Thought being a college baseball player it would be easier 😂 If I cut down firing the hips I can straighten it out but lose 20-50 yards but it plays. Think I need a trip to Bears lodge!
Glad you found me. As for the over the top swing you are hitting with the arms. This is tilting you left in the downswing. Tilt left and you will swing left. Love you videos! You have changed the game for me… trying to tell my friends about you, but they aren’t interested in working on their swing. Super curious on your yardages… is that something you’ll make on video on?
Thanks so much. We just need you to keep getting better and better then your friends will come around. Thanks for the promo. I appreciate it. My yardages. 7 iron 170. Driver 280+ on the fly. I may do more on course tips into the future but our course is super busy so I have to find a time when I can get out there undisturbed.
Paul, my set had been much like yours over the years, but my AOA has been steep with the driver especially, resulting in ground strikes before contact with the ball and Horrid drives. I'm left-handed and have been trying somewhat of a slight lean back, with an arch swing and lower body incorporation. Results have been better, but I need more consistency. My driver swing was so frustrating I bought the Callaway mini-driver instead which is about the size of my Ping 3-Wood which I can bomb. I've pretty much given up on traditional drivers and feel like they aren't worth the money because I just cannot hit them right. But thanks for the lesson.
The steepness is due to you hitting with the arms from the top. You need to turn them off and fire the lower body to hit the ball. Follow these: ruclips.net/video/wKkJmtCa6Dw/видео.html Then: ruclips.net/video/RdphthCQ9VM/видео.html ruclips.net/video/sbE-hzTXgNo/видео.html ruclips.net/video/2cPM_FSoHNM/видео.html ruclips.net/video/KlffJzbskmM/видео.html ruclips.net/video/p6YWiBPnQqI/видео.html ruclips.net/video/m8FxSZSmKEw/видео.html (secret tip)
Hi Paul, I have to send you some videos of my swing and get signed up for analysis. Several of your videos have helped me tremendously. Amazing how solid the contact is when swinging easy and loose. One thing I do which contradicts your instruction is, I seem to let my arms go first before releasing hips and forward turn. If I hold them back and let them follow I always turn or tilt which causes me to come across the ball. This as we all know leads to disaster. I am a left handed golfer with a 10 hc. Would love to get your recommendation on this. Thanks and keep up the great instruction!, !!
Glad you are starting to get it. It's a great feeling to hit some great shots. Then you know you can do it. You are coming over the top becuase you are into your right leg too soon in the downswing. You need your whole body to tilt back in the downswing. Watch: ruclips.net/video/KlffJzbskmM/видео.html and: ruclips.net/video/m8FxSZSmKEw/видео.html Unfortuantely, we don't do analysis anymore. We have something better now. It is live video coaching on your phone or tablet. Think about that for a second. No matter where you are in the world we can watch you on the range, at home doing practice swings or even when hou play. We can check your swing positions, give you a few things to work on or watch you play a certain hole you have trouble with. I would have killed for this when I was learning the swing. @@paulwilsongolf Thanks Paul, will check out the videos and definitely check into the live coaching, pretty cool. Do appreciate your response and assistance, look forward to working with you and the team , thank-you and stay safe !!
Great tip, the sensation of setting it at the top - how about the sensation of the hands, wrists, arms, shoulders as you transition down, what stays firm like the grip, but what stays loose and how much? The thought of letting the arms follow everything as the lower body uncoils? I tend to throw my arms too much and then have to catch up.
Arms are like butter in the downswing but you are not letting go. ruclips.net/video/Z8K3Gctkz7A/видео.html Yes, your arms are following. They aren't going to stay up there forever. I think you need to watch more of my tips. You can find them all here: ruclips.net/user/paulwilsongolfvideos just start going backwards through them.
I can actually work with anyone, anywhere in the world now with my new app. It is live, video coaching. Excellent, thanks for this explanation of your mindset/recipe/feel that you have programmed into your swing. I guess this process never becomes as natural as walking, but you the "pro" pull those brain/ body instructions up almost instantaneous? Whereas, we golf duffers have to mentally think our way through the process steps a lot slower, and then swing in a rhythmic flow. Pretty tough order to do in 2 tenths of a second on the way back to the ball. Thanks again Paul IM gaining on this crazy game.
Thanks. Yes, it's about repeating it until you do it. For me it is more feelings. That's okay if you have to think about it. Those were 3 things to think about. The problem is so many people get distracted and start doing other things because they just want to hammer the ball. Pros don't think like that. We work on the positions. The ball comes later.
Following your instructions, sometimes mimicking your exact swing, I have achieved the effortless swing with PW through woods. Driver, however, is a no go. The issue is, with the appropriate stance and everything, no matter how near or face I stand from the ball I consistently hit every ball off the hosel or club face edge adjacent to the hosel. My arms are stretched. The ball is positioned off of my Left in-step. It’s as though I am hitting the ball perfectly down the line of my shaft. With the arms “off”, my only clue was the ball flight. I’m at a loss.
You are probably too tilted at setup which is causing yo to roll to your toes in the downswing. Typically, this is why people shank it. Most with irons though. Kind or f weird your doing it with driver. Stand taller. Try hitting a few easy ones with the weight on your heels just to see if you hit the center of the face. If so you know you are rolling forward onto your toes. Get used to it then gradually center the weight.
Glad you liked it. Thanks. I have done numerous tips on shallowing the plane. Yes, you need to not hit with arms. If not you are using simple physics to get it to shallow: ruclips.net/video/cogyf6UjH7U/видео.html ruclips.net/video/lpAugDvakfU/видео.html ruclips.net/video/64xUMTcrn2I/видео.html ruclips.net/video/sbE-hzTXgNo/видео.html

Thanks Paul for years of great advice. On those days that I have your voice in the back of my mind I swing loose and hit far. When I don’t....🤦🏻♂️. Cheers from 🇨🇦
I fly it 280-285 consistently. Here is trackman from a few years ago: ruclips.net/video/Gp5r1NVuNhU/видео.html this one is pretty interesting too: ruclips.net/video/O9jr3G1FF6M/видео.html
@@paulwilsongolf Thank you! I watched both videos and commented. Your right about what I thought...280-300. Excellent, smooth, loose, effortless, easy, swing!
Being you teach the body swing what do you think about guys like Mike Austin who says it’s a throw or Manuel De la Torre who promotes an arm swing? The arms have to get involved somehow, the body alone can’t make the arms move.
I am a follower of Mike Austin and I follow Mike Dunaway more. They say its a throwing motion (like skipping a stone) but they are not telling you to solely use your arms to hit the ball. It is in the legs and hips which they constantly talk about in all of their videos. De La Torre - Not sure. Never followed this stuff. I have been getting amazing results for now 30 years so I am going to keep doing what I do. You are totally wrong about having to use your arms to hit the ball. This explains it: ruclips.net/video/E8y9jEyY35k/видео.html and this would be how you would square the face with amazing consistency doing it my way: ruclips.net/video/jjiXrGLkqj0/видео.html Both Dunaway and Austin get to the exact thing I talk about it in this video. So my teaching is certainly in line with what they were teaching.
Watch 5:12 of this video and listen to what he says. There are tons more. I just happened to be watching this one: ruclips.net/video/FOuldOgj7S0/видео.html
As usual Paul..GREAT VIDEO. On the downswing , do you start by pushing the back hip in, or, pulling the front hip out. What is your thought on this...THANK YOU Paul.
Hi Paul. When you hit the ball, near the end of the video, can you tell me what the distance was on that one? It looked so easy and I try to keep my swing about 90mph. Just still fighting that very last thought of Gotta Kill the Ball by swinging faster or I won't get at least 230-240 carry.
Not sure how far that was but I average 280 on the fly. Watch my latest tip. These were going 240 on the fly with no effort. If I can do that why can't you? ruclips.net/video/Q_LW7nm4ssk/видео.html
With a tight shoulder coil and good wrist hinge I feel an involuntary torque spring back through the ball to the finish. So I don't completely feel like the arm-wrist set up at the top and need to voluntarily fire my legs and hips. My drives vary from 200 to 250 yards. Does the indicate I'm turning back too fast?
You have the right idea. You definitely need to feel it set up there at the top. That tells you when to fire the lower. So watch this and set it: ruclips.net/video/KZAj2Bk8Roc/видео.html You need to slow down too so you have time to set it: ruclips.net/video/MmLjEoyqEIE/видео.html So take your time going back. More time give you more time to set it.
This times time which I don't have. We are a 2 many show working 12 hours a day 7 days a week. I have added it in the past on a could of tips and liked I said. It take time.
Hi Paul; I have a question about your body beginning the downswing. It seems when you demonstrate it, you don't have backward spine tilt keeping you behind the ball to swing up, but rather the type of hip rotation for hitting irons. This is the exact problem I have when hitting driver. I rotate as if I'm hitting an iron rather than a driver which causes my swing to be too flat at impact & I'm getting very little carry because of it. Thanks.
I have one swing for all clubs. In no way to I think any different for driver. I coil and load. From the top I am turning an shifting. Throw some balls out in front of your overhand to get the feeling then apply this to your shots. If it is too flat coming down you need to turn more. Flat would be too much lateral.
@@paulwilsongolf I can't recall ever seeing a pro golfer not use a backward tilt to be certain to stay behind the ball & swing up with a driver. After impact they move to a standard follow through. Otherwise, how could they hit driver so high to carry so far? Thanks for your reply.
You get the backward tilt by firing your hips. It's like hitting the accelerator on a car. Fire your hips and your body goes back. I am certainly behind it when I hit it. You can see how much here: ruclips.net/video/b7sboTQf9yw/видео.html and I'm even more tilted with driver.
Probably not. If they started as a kid (and hit it long) then took a long break from golf then 280 would be possible. My dad did hit one 270 at 83 after proof reading my book. Mind you 300 back then is not 300 now. 300 was pretty big back then. Way easier now. When did you start? If you didn't start as a kid you don't know the quick move of the body. You have to learn it which it tough. Older you get harder it is.
...... It's kind of weird.... I think part of the problem is, when your system works for me and I knock the crap out of the ball , then subconsciously I think oh that was easy.... so I start swinging harder to hit it further.... really takes discipline to have a certain mindset.....thanks
I started at 21. I play with a guy who shoots in the honest high 70s.Cant reach sub pars, with a combination of him,his daughter(PGA Instructor) and reading a lot and watching iTunes I’ve learned slot
It’s weird most instructors don’t want you turning the hips first, they want a shift or lateral move towards target first. I was always told if you turn hips first on downswing you’ll come over the top
I'm not most instructors. The shift occurs without thinking about it if you get to my touch the legs position. Plus, when I video people 90% are just facing the ball at impact whereas pros heels are up and you can see the left cheek. The only way you can see this from down the line is to turn. So maybe everyone needs more rotation not lateral.
This happens to a lot of people. You are trying to kill it. You need to change the power source. Start with this. Got to turn them off then build up your legs and hips for power. ruclips.net/video/qV_4zNIwyg8/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/4O5G9t0LiJo/видео.html The first step is getting the arms out.
That's the easy way out. Why not actually work on your swing. If I can do nothing and get to 100mph why can you. Watch how little effort it take me in this tip. As I add more body I get more speed. ruclips.net/video/Q_LW7nm4ssk/видео.html
like your instruction a lot, one thing thought, don't spend so much time on how to hit the ball wrongly, instead go right to the point and talk about how to hit the correctly, thank you
i understand your conviction on why you elaborate what makes a bad golf swing, but instead explaining to your viewers how it feels when you make a proper swing, starting from the grip and how the back swing feels right until you make contact with the ball, after all that is more important thing hearing about what makes a bad swing , its just my opinion and few of my friends who i them on to your instructions thank you
Hi Paul, have you ever considered adding shot tracer to your videos? There are apps that are free or a minimal ($6 or so) out there. I only ask but each time you hit a ball I never even see it leave. Thanks 😊
Quiet now huh? Once you can put nothing into it and get it to 100pmh on trackman then come back and actually learn something. Otherwise find someone else.

I talk about it in this tip:

Glad you liked it. Thanks.
I was forgetting to set at the top
Good stuff PW !!! I’m going to try that on the range tomorrow!!
Thank you. Definitely try some of my tips. Once you get the concept you will start hitting it great.

Power the swing with the legs and hip not the hands and arms. I have tons of lower body tips now posted. Try this one. It's an easy way to get you hips moving: ruclips.net/video/j1mS5Ku8Q10/видео.html
This is the key.
thanks for your mind setting approach
My pleasure
You explain it the best
Thanks. I just keep it simple. If you understand it you will do it.
Thanks. Very good. The mental imagery is great for those who can do it. Glad you are doing the grip. It all starts with that.
I like the explanation of this Man Paul....:)
Thank you so much.
She did that on her own then this is the first time she came to me for lessons:
ruclips.net/video/I8WRHJkTzyY/видео.html
(It even looks better now)
Try to get the grip close.
Thought being a college baseball player it would be easier 😂
If I cut down firing the hips I can straighten it out but lose 20-50 yards but it plays.
Think I need a trip to Bears lodge!
Glad you found me. As for the over the top swing you are hitting with the arms. This is tilting you left in the downswing. Tilt left and you will swing left. Watch these and I will fix you:

Follow these:

Watch: ruclips.net/video/KlffJzbskmM/видео.html and:
ruclips.net/video/m8FxSZSmKEw/видео.html Unfortuantely, we don't do analysis anymore. We have something better now. It is live video coaching on your phone or tablet. Think about that for a second.
Good tip pro..👍👍👍
Glad you liked it!
8:20 - Nice sequence!
Thanks.
Paul, great video as usual. Question: How do you shallow the club? Is it simply that you fire the hips and that naturally shallows it? Thanks.
Glad you liked it. Thanks. I have done numerous tips on shallowing the plane. Yes, you need to not hit with arms. If not you are using simple physics to get it to shallow:

Great video & great tips again. Do you have the same. thinkings when you hit fairway Woods, hybrids, iron or even approach shoots or is it completely different. Thank you
Absolutely. One swing. Set up changes and the length of club changes your swing automatically.
Thanks Paul for years of great advice. On those days that I have your voice in the back of my mind I swing loose and hit far. When I don’t....🤦🏻♂️. Cheers from 🇨🇦
Keep it up
I am sure you've answered this question, but I have not seen it. About how long can you drive a ball? Curious! I love your swing!

This is exactly what I showed in that tip I sent you (got to 6:24): ruclips.net/video/FOuldOgj7S0/видео.html
As usual Paul..GREAT VIDEO.
On the downswing , do you start by pushing the back hip in, or, pulling the front hip out.
What is your thought on this...THANK YOU Paul.
I trigger the downswing from my right instep. This turns my hips. There is a slight shift there too. Just like throwing a ball.
THANK YOU Paul...BE WELL.
Coach Paul you should really sell Bears Best LV. I just googled it. Wow cool place.
Yes, fun course. Great range (my office). We are part of Club Corp so we are pretty busy on a daily basis.
So watch this and set it:
ruclips.net/video/KZAj2Bk8Roc/видео.html You need to slow down too so you have time to set it:
ruclips.net/video/MmLjEoyqEIE/видео.html
So take your time going back. More time give you more time to set it.
Great vid! I have short muscular arms and am only 5'6. Any tips to bring back the club further without bending my lead arm???

You're welcome.
It doesn’t get better than this
Thanks.
It seems that the V of the arms pinches the pecs and that helps on turning the shoulders
It sure does. This is connection in the beginning of the swing.
Paul is this the same swing with irons? Also, driver looks so natural in your swing, it doesn't feel right when I swing it. Any suggestions?
You only have 1 swing so yes do it with irons too.
Hi Paul;
I have a question about your body beginning the downswing.
@@paulwilsongolf
I can't recall ever seeing a pro golfer not use a backward tilt to be certain to stay behind the ball & swing up with a driver.

Hey Paul, great video but what do the people with bad backs do that can't take full swings? Any videos?
You need to start here: ruclips.net/video/Xk7t9yHCO-I/видео.html
@@paulwilsongolf this one for people that have bad backs etc?
Question Paul.If a person couldn’t drive a ball 300 yards by 30 years older do you think he could still learn by 65 or 70
Probably not.
I'm really gonna hit this one! Lol.
So many people think like that.
...... It's kind of weird.... I think part of the problem is, when your system works for me and I knock the crap out of the ball , then subconsciously I think oh that was easy.... so I start swinging harder to hit it further.... really takes discipline to have a certain mindset.....thanks
Right. If you want more drive the lower harder. We all want more. This is human nature.
I started at 21. I play with a guy who shoots in the honest high 70s.Cant reach sub pars, with a combination of him,his daughter(PGA Instructor) and reading a lot and watching iTunes I’ve learned slot
Great guy to learn from. Him and me. That's all you need.
Great video! Do you ever have any thoughts about un cranking your shoulders in the downswing?
Totally unnecessary. Fire the lower and the upper will follow. Took me years to figure that out and I am handing it to you on silver platter.
My forearms tense up when I get a driver in my hands.
Really like your message and the way you deliver it....please hit a few more balls as you teach....
Some tips I hit some some I don't. Just depends what I am talking about and if I remember to hit some. Please check out other tips.
Move up closer to the hole in front of the red T’s
That's the easy way out. Why not actually work on your swing. If I can do nothing and get to 100mph why can you. Watch how little effort it take me in this tip. As I add more body I get more speed.
ruclips.net/video/Q_LW7nm4ssk/видео.html
Paul, do you ever discuss turn and tilt in the backswing?
I do. I just haven't done a tilt on it yet. You need to see the ball at the top not your toes. Try it.
like your instruction a lot, one thing thought, don't spend so much time on how to hit the ball wrongly, instead go right to the point and talk about how to hit the correctly, thank you
Thanks. I say it the way I say it at the time. I want people to know right from wrong. Plus, YT doesn't like short tips.
i understand your conviction on why you elaborate what makes a bad golf swing, but instead explaining to your viewers how it feels when you make a proper swing, starting from the grip and how the back swing feels right until you make contact with the ball, after all that is more important thing hearing about what makes a bad swing , its just my opinion and few of my friends who i them on to your instructions thank you
Hi Paul, have you ever considered adding shot tracer to your videos? There are apps that are free or a minimal ($6 or so) out there. I only ask but each time you hit a ball I never even see it leave. Thanks 😊
I have it. It's the time to edit it in which is the problem.
I wish you said power forward instead of power down
Not sure what you are referring too. I just say things how I say them. Forward to me says move laterally which I don't want you to do.
Not easy to switch from shoulder to lower torso coming down at the ball. The transition Needs a lot of practises.
It is if you have the right thought. Here you go: ruclips.net/video/RdphthCQ9VM/видео.html
Bullshit!
Prove your theory by using ball and distance tracker.
Have not seen any of your videos that has that…
Quiet now huh? Once you can put nothing into it and get it to 100pmh on trackman then come back and actually learn something. Otherwise find someone else.
