    Best golf lesson I've ever heard, and I've watched many. Paul "keeps it simple" and gets you to think about the movements in a way you may have never heard before! I stand in front of my computer screen (empty handed) and mimic his body movements (shoulders, weight shift, etc.) to "feel" what he's conveying! I finally understand how the power comes from the lower body. Keep up the awesome teaching!

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  2 года назад +1

      Thanks so much. Simple is the key for sure. So glad you are trying to replicate it. It's all about understanding and a little practice. Too many people only practice once a week. This is not enough. You need to do this stuff daily which is why I keep telling people to do practice swings between range sessions. This really is the fastest, easiest way to get it. Keep up the good work and thanks for the support.

    Paul, your tips have made an immense difference in my game! Thank you for this wonderful service. I am 63 years old and have lost much distance in the last 5 to 8 years. I have developed and over the top swing and slice that has been maddening! Your tip on loosening everything up has been a wonderful addition to my game. The illustration you gave with twirling the club head cover made perfect sense to me. I shall be subscribing and purchasing your coaching series. Thank you for doing this for us. Your friend in Colorado Tim Farrington.

      Glad you like the tips. Glad you found me. Sounds like you needed some direction. Loose wrists is a big part of it. This alone should show you that you can get the distance back. Good feeling knowing that. Thanks for the support. I appreciate it.

    I have played golf for twenty years. I have been frustrated many times by bad shots and slices. I am so glad I came upon your videos. In all the lesson I took no one ever told me before that the power is in the hips and legs and not the arms. Your videos have really helped me to use my legs more and not my arms! Thanks Paul

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  3 года назад +1

      Glad you found me and glad you are doing well. I know it is mind boggling people don't see the legs and hips powering the swing. If it was arms wouldn't the great majority of people be good? After all most people are hitting. Well, few are good so they must be doing it a different way. That way is legs and hips. Now you know that you are on the same page as other great players instead of trying to do the opposite. So I have no doubt you will dramatically improve your game.

    Always great tips, easy and logical way to follow. I have almost got rid of my elbow, wrist and shoulder pains with your effortless swing techniques, I have picked up Iron strikes much more accurate, farther and consistent since I started watching your videos and practising techniques. Now trying to work on my driver skills, already gained much more distance with your hip turns techniques but still got to work on stopping balls slicing right. Got to mention; since my driver hits much farther now, with slices I have started loosing more balls, where as before I wasn't as much ;-). It's only been about 2 week since I found your channel on youtube, so I'm sure I will be able to perfect my driving skills with more time and practice. Thanks tons Paul.

    Hey Paul, This tip has helped me A TON. My thought process with the driver involves 4 words. Slow - for the back swing. Hinge - the wrists. Loose - to keep my hands loose and not swing with my arms. Hips, to fire off my swing. I played 9 holes tonight and all 9 drives were playable. The farthest drive was right around 250 yards. I don't feel like I'm swinging hard at all and I was hitting as far as the guys I was playing with tonight and they are league players. I'll keep practicing with my driver and now start transitioning to the irons. Cause they need a lot of work. I'm confident with your tips I'll be able to better my game even more. Thanks so much for the amazing tips and videos. Your tips are making golf a challenging, but fun game.

    I haven't played in 8 years, and recently got back on the course and it was a disaster. I went looking for help and continued to struggle until I found this channel. Within only a week I went from literally missing the ball with my driver to knocking it 250 yds down the CENTER of the fairway - granted that's happening about 40% of the time - but it's actually happening!! I just have to swing easy and loose and fire my hips and BOOM! - I'm continuing to learn and I have no doubt in my mind... 300 here we come!!

    Always interested exactly what's going on in your mind during the golf swing....I like coiling on the backswing....then when fully hinged...fire the hips...right instep + belt buckle cues...then loose wrists...hinge/unhinged to full finish......

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  5 месяцев назад

      Right now I am working on things to keep pressure off my right hip. Been working on this for quite a while now so what I am thinking right now is not necessarily what I would be thinking regularly. In the past I would crank my left shoulder until tight. Then fire my hips letting my arms go wherever they wanted. To uncoil I was pushing with my right instep but haven't done this in a few years now to keep the pressure off. Sorry I also feel my left wrist set in the position I like at the top. If I feel it set the ball is hit straight. Find things that you can repeat. This is the key.

    Paul is one of two go to’s when my game is a disaster. Similar age but I’m 6’3 and 265 and can’t consistently hit it like Paul. I’ve seen the video of him clearing a lake so he’s legit.
    Something thought about firing the hips I seem to be out/in or over the top with dead left pulls……or just top it. Thought being a college baseball player it would be easier 😂
    If I cut down firing the hips I can straighten it out but lose 20-50 yards but it plays.

    Paul, my set had been much like yours over the years, but my AOA has been steep with the driver especially, resulting in ground strikes before contact with the ball and Horrid drives. I'm left-handed and have been trying somewhat of a slight lean back, with an arch swing and lower body incorporation. Results have been better, but I need more consistency. My driver swing was so frustrating I bought the Callaway mini-driver instead which is about the size of my Ping 3-Wood which I can bomb. I've pretty much given up on traditional drivers and feel like they aren't worth the money because I just cannot hit them right. But thanks for the lesson.

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  3 года назад +1

      The steepness is due to you hitting with the arms from the top. You need to turn them off and fire the lower body to hit the ball. Follow these:

    Hi Paul, I have to send you some videos of my swing and get signed up for analysis. Several of your videos have helped me tremendously. Amazing how solid the contact is when swinging easy and loose. One thing I do which contradicts your instruction is, I seem to let my arms go first before releasing hips and forward turn. If I hold them back and let them follow I always turn or tilt which causes me to come across the ball. This as we all know leads to disaster. I am a left handed golfer with a 10 hc. Would love to get your recommendation on this. Thanks and keep up the great instruction!, !!

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  4 года назад

      Glad you are starting to get it. It's a great feeling to hit some great shots. Then you know you can do it. You are coming over the top becuase you are into your right leg too soon in the downswing. You need your whole body to tilt back in the downswing. Watch: ruclips.net/video/KlffJzbskmM/видео.html and:
      ruclips.net/video/m8FxSZSmKEw/видео.html Unfortuantely, we don't do analysis anymore. We have something better now. It is live video coaching on your phone or tablet. Think about that for a second. No matter where you are in the world we can watch you on the range, at home doing practice swings or even when hou play. Great tip, the sensation of setting it at the top - how about the sensation of the hands, wrists, arms, shoulders as you transition down, what stays firm like the grip, but what stays loose and how much? The thought of letting the arms follow everything as the lower body uncoils? I tend to throw my arms too much and then have to catch up.

    Excellent, thanks for this explanation of your mindset/recipe/feel that you have programmed into your swing. I guess this process never becomes as natural as walking, but you the "pro" pull those brain/ body instructions up almost instantaneous? Whereas, we golf duffers have to mentally think our way through the process steps a lot slower, and then swing in a rhythmic flow. Pretty tough order to do in 2 tenths of a second on the way back to the ball. Thanks again Paul IM gaining on this crazy game.

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  4 года назад +2

      Thanks. Yes, it's about repeating it until you do it. For me it is more feelings. That's okay if you have to think about it. Those were 3 things to think about. The problem is so many people get distracted and start doing other things because they just want to hammer the ball. Pros don't think like that. We work on the positions. The ball comes later.

  • @aaronates3095
    @aaronates3095 4 года назад

    Following your instructions, sometimes mimicking your exact swing, I have achieved the effortless swing with PW through woods. Driver, however, is a no go. The issue is, with the appropriate stance and everything, no matter how near or face I stand from the ball I consistently hit every ball off the hosel or club face edge adjacent to the hosel. My arms are stretched. The ball is positioned off of my Left in-step. It’s as though I am hitting the ball perfectly down the line of my shaft. With the arms “off”, my only clue was the ball flight. I’m at a loss.

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  4 года назад +1

      You are probably too tilted at setup which is causing yo to roll to your toes in the downswing. Typically, this is why people shank it. Most with irons though. Kind or f weird your doing it with driver. Stand taller. Try hitting a few easy ones with the weight on your heels just to see if you hit the center of the face. If so you know you are rolling forward onto your toes. Get used to it then gradually center the weight.

    Being you teach the body swing what do you think about guys like Mike Austin who says it’s a throw or Manuel De la Torre who promotes an arm swing? The arms have to get involved somehow, the body alone can’t make the arms move.

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  3 года назад

      I am a follower of Mike Austin and I follow Mike Dunaway more. They say its a throwing motion (like skipping a stone) but they are not telling you to solely use your arms to hit the ball. It is in the legs and hips which they constantly talk about in all of their videos. De La Torre - Not sure. Never followed this stuff. I have been getting amazing results for now 30 years so I am going to keep doing what I do. You are totally wrong about having to use your arms to hit the ball. This explains it: ruclips.net/video/E8y9jEyY35k/видео.html and this would be how you would square the face with amazing consistency doing it my way: ruclips.net/video/jjiXrGLkqj0/видео.html Both Dunaway and Austin get to the exact thing I talk about it in this video. So my teaching is certainly in line with what they were teaching.

    With a tight shoulder coil and good wrist hinge I feel an involuntary torque spring back through the ball to the finish. So I don't completely feel like the arm-wrist set up at the top and need to voluntarily fire my legs and hips. My drives vary from 200 to 250 yards. Does the indicate I'm turning back too fast?

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  3 года назад

      You have the right idea. You definitely need to feel it set up there at the top. That tells you when to fire the lower. So watch this and set it:
      ruclips.net/video/KZAj2Bk8Roc/видео.html You need to slow down too so you have time to set it:

  • @mikerodrick2430
    @mikerodrick2430 4 года назад

    Hi Paul;
    I have a question about your body beginning the downswing. It seems when you demonstrate it, you don't have backward spine tilt keeping you behind the ball to swing up, but rather the type of hip rotation for hitting irons. This is the exact problem I have when hitting driver. I rotate as if I'm hitting an iron rather than a driver which causes my swing to be too flat at impact & I'm getting very little carry because of it. Thanks.

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  4 года назад

      I have one swing for all clubs. In no way to I think any different for driver. I coil and load. From the top I am turning an shifting. Throw some balls out in front of your overhand to get the feeling then apply this to your shots. If it is too flat coming down you need to turn more. Flat would be too much lateral.

      I can't recall ever seeing a pro golfer not use a backward tilt to be certain to stay behind the ball & swing up with a driver. After impact they move to a standard follow through. Otherwise, how could they hit driver so high to carry so far? Thanks for your reply.

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  4 года назад +2

      You get the backward tilt by firing your hips. It's like hitting the accelerator on a car. Fire your hips and your body goes back. I am certainly behind it when I hit it. You can see how much here: ruclips.net/video/b7sboTQf9yw/видео.html and I'm even more tilted with driver.

    Question Paul.If a person couldn’t drive a ball 300 yards by 30 years older do you think he could still learn by 65 or 70

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  4 года назад

      Probably not. If they started as a kid (and hit it long) then took a long break from golf then 280 would be possible. My dad did hit one 270 at 83 after proof reading my book. Mind you 300 back then is not 300 now. 300 was pretty big back then. Way easier now. When did you start? If you didn't start as a kid you don't know the quick move of the body. You have to learn it which it tough. Older you get harder it is.

    It’s weird most instructors don’t want you turning the hips first, they want a shift or lateral move towards target first. I was always told if you turn hips first on downswing you’ll come over the top

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  3 года назад +1

      I'm not most instructors. The shift occurs without thinking about it if you get to my touch the legs position. Plus, when I video people 90% are just facing the ball at impact whereas pros heels are up and you can see the left cheek. The only way you can see this from down the line is to turn. So maybe everyone needs more rotation not lateral.
