      Exactly. Too many people try something 3 times and give up if they don't see a good result. What if ball 4 was the one. Do it for 1 bucket and you will see some amazing shots. If so it should convince you to keep doing it. Thanks for the support. Please tell others.

    So I never post on the internet, but I have to post this. I've been playing golf now for a couple of years. I'm very athletic and I thought swinging the club fast and hard was the key to getting distance "NOT!!!!". I realized I was swinging to hard, on the 18th hole and I was ready to give up on golf, swung slow and said "Forget this"... the ball went as far as I ever hit it. I've been watching and practicing slowing my swing down and not using my arm.... I went from holding and squeezing my club at a 9/10, now it's around 2/3. I've gain distance that I thought I would never see. I practice every day and I can see the change. Thanks Paul

      Very good. Now you know you can do it and how you need to do it. Stick to the plan and stay focused. It is very tempting to hit hard but that will not hit the ball any longer. Watch my tip tonight to see why: ruclips.net/video/nxPegIT6O9Q/видео.html

    Paul, I am a recent convert (like a month) and your videos seem to address my issues. I made a decision a month or two ago that I didn't want to kill the ball any more, I wanted my friends to tell me I had a great swing. Little did I know that your method would fill both my desires.
    This video is particularly important for me in that it gave me a new vision of going through the ball toward the target. The first several times I tried it it felt so natural. I immediately started to hit dramatically longer drives with little effort.
    Today, I played at Sea Side Course, St Simons Island. Temp 45 degrees, wind 25 to 30 MPH. I am an improving golfer thanks to you. I won the skins game. 3 skins. May not seem to be many, but under the conditions. Not bad. The important thing was that in those conditions, I was going far beyond, my buddies. With ease.
    Have had knee surgery and radiation treatments recently so you might imagine some issues. But let me tell you, your process has been absolutely fabulous for me. You are with terrific and I am 78 years old.
    As you said in this particular video, if you follow your advise, the results will be "startling" as they were for me.
    Can't thank you enough. Your teaching process is second to none. And hopefully some day, I can drop by and show you what you have done. Of course I have a ways to go. But I am a happy fan.
    Roger

    This was the video I needed to see. I'm a fairly athletic dude with woefully short distance for my build. Classic "over-swinger" that tries to muscle and steer everything.
    I gave this technique a try yesterday for an entire bucket (driver and 5 wood) and LOVED it.
    Definitely felt odd initially, but I bombed several drives over the back net of the range (about 220 away). I know that's not impressive to some of you, but I used to get pumped even hitting the net with my previous swing. Never thought I'd clear it multiple times.
    Best part was that it felt sooo much better flushing one. I could feel the driver face compress and the sound was terrific. It actually did feel kinda effortless.
    Anyhow, thanks for the great vid.

  • @neilfarmer6609
    @neilfarmer6609 4 года назад +8

    Players on tour are brilliant examples of your method Paul. The guys bombing it on the PGA tour gain their power from a body swing too, but without the power of Rahm or DeChambeau we’d probably learn more from watching how the LPGA players use a body swing to create effortless power.

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  4 года назад +3

      Exactly. These tour guys are just trying to kill it now. Then your average person sees this and thinks they can do it. This thinking is great for my business. You're right. The secret is to watch the LPGA players but few do. Glad you figured it out.

    Hi Paul - I know you have your favorite drill (driver up in the air at knee height doing the body swing), but I have to tell you this is my favorite drill. This is the drill that helped me really feel letting go and increasing club head speed. You truly are a remarkable instructor!

      Well, this is a great one. I already do this which is why the other is my fav. Keep doing this over and over again until it feels good and until a chicken wing would feel weird. I've been holding off the face and trying to "block" the ball down the fairway for a few years now, to disastrous effect. All of my power came from ripping my shoulders as hard as I could, often leading to dead pulls. Even when I hit it straight, the ball wasn't going anywhere. I had a lesson yesterday where I finally said screw it, I'm letting my hands go. I started striping shots down the middle and gained 25 yards with my 8 iron. I couldn't agree more with the ideas presented in this video. Let it go people! Cheers from Canada.

Keep watching my tips to supplement your teaching. Stay focused. I get the feeling of power in the legs and hips not the hands and arms. It's not like I am not putting a lot into it so there is satisfaction after I hit the shot it's just I feel a different power source.

I went from a 7/8 handicap to a 13 and after every round these last few years I felt like someone kicked the crap out of me. All arms! It was exhausting. I just recently retired and plan to play a lot. Your videos bring back memories of when I use to play a lot and my handicap was lower. The best rounds were effortless. I somehow forgot all of that swing easy stuff. I did play the other after watching one of your videos and it did help. Although was score wasn’t great (84), I did hit some great shots when I didn’t fall back in to my old habits. It will take some time. The turn the belt buckle trigger and just let the arms fall is a good one! Thanks!

      I have fixed countless people who took a break from golf get their swing back. It's easy because they have used their body in the past. Take the break and you start hitting with the arms (which will never work). I just need to get them to loosen the wrists and use their body again to power the swing.
      Watch this first to understand why taking a break lost your swing:
      ruclips.net/video/fuOJxv_22Hk/видео.html
      Work on this first:
      ruclips.net/video/M868QsTlGt4/видео.html
      ruclips.net/video/p4vASmOzkPg/видео.html
      ruclips.net/video/N-nGM6yN790/видео.html
      ruclips.net/video/yHEv7G9Z5-0/видео.html
      Get the ball hooking and loose the wrists. Once you can do that you then start firing the lower body harder/quicker/faster to straighten it out. Not sure what your downswing trigger is but something in your legs and hips you use to hit the ball.
      This is the easiest trigger:
      ruclips.net/video/RdphthCQ9VM/видео.html
      As you do this there is timing between the release and the legs and hips so you need to watch this to learn exactly how hard you need to fire your hips:
      ruclips.net/video/bLskGy7rulo/видео.html
      This is literally days or a week or two of work maximum to get it back.

Unfortunately, too many people seem to think they can hang up their clubs for 6 months and play great golf. Winter is the best time to work on your swing. No ball means no hitting so you can make the changes then play great golf when the season starts instead of working on your swing in the summer. Glad you get it. Thanks for your support.

      @paulwilsongolf  4 года назад +1

      Glad you are getting it. Shanks are so easy to fix. What clubs do people shank? Shorter ones right? Shorter clubs are shorter so you bend over more. When you do the body mass overhangs your toe line. So you get to the top and the weight rolls forward so you shank it. Stand taller with shorter clubs. Feel like you are going down not forward. Look up to the sky then look down until you can see the club and ball clearly not your toes (peripheral is fine). If you clearly see your toes you are too low. Fixed.

But I want to be 280-300 regularly and not the lower end of the spectrum. I need to continually remind myself not tense up and be loose. It's a challenging thing to do. • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  2 года назад

      It is tricky. To this day I still have to tell myself not to hit. Need to be content with how you are and how far you hit it. I would say the 250 yard drives are you just not hitting the center of the face cause even my bad ones are never far off my better ones. So focus on perfect, consistent movement. Get that they the distance will come. Confidence breeds distance.

      Sounds like you are super close to getting it. Hopefully, you are also going daily practice swings at home. This is what I do. I have clubs all over the place. I probably do 100 swings a day just to keep remembering the movement.

      You are correct, of course. I follow your recommendation to do hundreds of practice swings to try to ingrain those into my mind, so that I duplicate the swing, when addressing the ball. Today I think that is the best that I have done. I did not record the swing when hitting balls. However, the trajectory, feeling of the club movement, etc. seem to be as fluid and "armless" as I have been able to do heretofore. I concentrated on armless backswing, then throwing arms straight out with the hip twist. Some swings when hitting the ball seemed perfect. About 10 yards forward on tee area from normal. Some drives reached the end of range, perhaps 255 yards. Distance should still be 265 to 270 yards for a variety of reasons. One, a fellow practicer, 60 years old, has a beautiful swing. He can easily hit 270 to 280 on drives. Beautiful flight on ball. I should be able to equal him!
      I have not seen all of your RUclips videos yet. However, for the umpteenth time, the ones that I have watched are superb. By far the best of the thousands of videos available on golf on RUclips. A separate item is that I think that it might be worthwhile to go to your on-site instruction, perhaps next spring. I hope by then to be using the driver without the slightest chicken wing. Then the assistance on-site would be to add some distance to the ball, i.e. add acceleration/velocity to the swing. In any case, I vote you best out there!

Can't thank you enough for all you do during these times. One last question, why do I seem to come out of right side bend on the downswing?

    Should I start hovering my driver, or continue to keep it soled on the ground?

      I like it soled on the ground. Too many people who hover the club are way too tight. Let it sit on the ground then you can drain the tension completely from your arms before you take it back.

    Hello Paul, absolutely love your instruction. I have a question, in your videos your driver looks abnormally long??? How tall are you and how long is your driver??? Maybe just a optical illusion 🤔

      Thanks. The driver I am using right now 44" I am 5'10" These cameras have very wide angle lenses so things can be distorted.

    Hey Paul, quick question, I've really been working hard using your method and everything is coming along nicely. I've noticed that I'm startimg to sightly pull shots a touch left. You've mentioned that a pull is caused by square face while coming over the top and that's caused by using your arms too much, but i honestly feel like I can't loosen them anymore. Is that still the case ? I need to use more body rotation and work harder on getting even looser? Thanks sir. I'm also looking to use coach link soon.

      You need to start the lower right from the top. If you body moves first and your loose arms follow you would be hitting it dead straight. Any hitting will get the mass (club) moving ahead of the body (axis) and in physics this will not work consistently. You need to watch these:

    Paul, the weight of my irons with light grip pressure and relaxed arms at the top of my back swing sometimes unhinges my wrists. Am I not stoping the backswing at the right moment that would prevent this feeling?

      You can be too loose with your grip. My grip is secure. My wrists are loose. Watch: ruclips.net/video/Z8K3Gctkz7A/видео.html
