      Hello doctor, I have a question, and I have subscribed. I have a herniated disc, that does affect my sciatica. My question is: I play golf once or twice a week, is that bad for that particular disc, or all lower disc problems in general

    • @AskDoctorJo
      @AskDoctorJo  3 года назад

      It's not necessarily bad if you are using correct form, but it really just depends on how severe it is.

    Excellent video! It's good that you mentioned "centralization" because people often feel as if the prone prop is making sciatica worse, when in fact it is usually a good sign. Thanks for your great content!

    hey jo, im a 20 year old and i often neglect injuries i get from working out
    i developed back pain since march and did some exercises for it, the pain ended up subsiding after 2 months, then the pain returned, but this time with the sciatica nerve pain
    do you recommend these specific exercises? or is there another video that may be more beneficial?
    im honestly kinda terrified, i dont wanna end up with these chronic issues at such a young age, and my doctors just keep on telling me the same thing
    should i be moving or sitting or laying down for most of the day?
    any advice would be helpful, seriously. ive looked at a couple of ur videos and noticed how many people you have helped, im sick of these doctors telling me the same thing and my pain not subsiding

    I have a question about exercise 1 on your tummy. So if a disc is pinching the nerve, is it always going to bulge in a way that you can make it go back by doing that position, or could it be that the disc is bulging towards the inside and this makes it worse? Also, if you have an excessive back curvature or hyperlordosis in medical terms, is it a good idea? Thanks!

    thanks for these videos. just went to a PT last week and was prescribed some excersies involving a foam roller. Within a week, the pain got slightly better, then got MUCh worse and switched sides on me. Just tried this routine and feel the best I have a while. Wondering if maybe I'm overdoing my foam roller stuff , or if I just need to find another PT?

    • @AskDoctorJo
      @AskDoctorJo  5 лет назад +1

      You're welcome. Glad they are helping. It's pretty easy to overdo it with the foam roller, so maybe back off that a bit. It depends with your PT. If you feel like they are trying different things to pinpoint the area, it might be worth ticking with them (sometimes we have to do a trial and error style to get it right), but if you don't, there are plenty of PTs out there who might be able to help. Good luck.

    • @AskDoctorJo
      @AskDoctorJo  6 лет назад

      I have had sciatic pain before, and I was able to do that stretch and yes, it does hurt :-) Unfortunately, some have it much more severely than others, so it can be tough, especially with a back surgery in the past. There are definitely ways to modify those movements, so if you can or haven't yet, it might be worth going to see a physical therapist for a few sessions to get something that might work a little better for you. Good luck.

    • @carolweaver3269
      @carolweaver3269 6 лет назад

      TY for answering. Maybe I will see if my General Physician will send me to a Physical Therapist. I know I have friends telling me the Chiropractor could help, but am not sure about that? So maybe best to try Physical Therapy, then? I will work at these stretches and have done some. It is terrible with Arthritis and the Fibromyalgia and now this too. But am fighting hard to get relief. ( Stupid as I have always been super active, and now all of this)
      Thank you for the videos!

    • @AskDoctorJo
      @AskDoctorJo  6 лет назад

      You're welcome. I think it's definitely worth going to see a physical therapist for at least an evaluation. Keep working on it, and hopefully you will get some relief!! Do you have access to a pool? Aquatic therapy (not swimming, but exercising in the pool) is a great option as well.

    Hello doctor you are so kind ! God bless!
    I just had a question. I first noticed a weird numbness in my left leg knee down wards after doing 4 sets of 100 slow inner thigh pilates ring... I had an MRI which said I had DDD and bulging disc L5 S1.
    It’s been two months. I had back inflammation, which is better now. My leg was also better but it seems to fluctuate. I still seem to have a pulled nerve feeling in my left leg knee down wards...on the top bone of my left leg knee down wards mainly , nothing in my calves.
    I don’t have serve pain just discomfort and very slight annoying pain . Is what I have sciatica from herniated disc ?

    Should I do the figure 4 stretch even tho it is numb and tingling down my leg when I am in the stretch? How much should I stretch it? Should I be in pain while I do this?

      It might be uncomfortable, but if the pain continues after you stop, you should not do them.

      You're welcome. The one I’m using is called the Womfy, but it’s no longer available. I have reviewed another pillow I really like from SleepOvation. You can learn more about it here: ruclips.net/video/v-Nq8qm7RQk/видео.html

    Question: im on week 10 of back pain and sciatica pain (on the left side) and from last week all of a sudden if i do the “straightening the leg with the toe pointing up” movement with my right leg (good side) it send sharp sciatic pains in my left leg. Is this normal? That the “good leg” sends pain down the “bad leg”?
    If i do the same with the left leg (bad side) it reacts as well. I must be honest, im beyond fed up at this point, of the apocalypse happens now, i’ll be the person just sitting on the porch, watching it all go down

    Thank you these are great.. Question... You say only do the flossing ones 10 times once a day... What about the other ones.. The figure 4 and the prone position on your fore arms? Should they be done several times a day?

    • @AskDoctorJo
      @AskDoctorJo  6 лет назад +2

      Yes, the other ones can be done several times a day. Good luck.
