How you carry yourself is an indicator of how confident you are. Us humans also have a cool thing where we can use our body position to alter our mood. He bought all newspapers worldwide, all international organizations and every organization that is involved in medical needs. He changed so many things that no longer governments have power in their own countries. All members of world health organization will have a lockdown if he tells them. It is his private organization. It is paid by member countries and by him but it is his private company. Trump refused to pay millions of US American tax money to WHO. He canceled the contract. Stupid chancelor Angela Merkel of Germany made up for the missing money from USA. She took the millions from German taxpayers and gave it to her best buddy Gilly Bates. He proudly stated he had her private number on speed dial. She is a very stupid and naive woman. Grew up on the country side in the poorest region of Eastern Germany. What these body language "trainers" don't understand is that you can't fake body language. If your mind is not feeling confident, you won't be able to assume this "power pose" for long, and it will do more harm than good (during interviews and such)

This is an interesting take. I work as a engineering manager for research and development in a major defense company; I see plenty of behaviors during meetings similar to this but I feel it's important that people understand the root cause behind while different people sit in different ways, otherwise this advice is really the tail wagging the dog. The "unconfident" poses typically happen to the younger, newer engineers who are worried about how the people in the room perceive them rather than how they perceive their work/opinions. The people who are in those "confident" positions typically have no idea about how they're sitting, they're just highly focused in the subject matter and it's obvious by their eagerness to engage in the discussion. So in my humble opinion, good observations, use them to check yourself, but really, just focus on your work, not people's opinions of you.
The only good gesture in this was the hand movement while you talk. Other than that the only gesture you need is the middle finger and a taser gun or bear mace.
@sub R0cky I understand what you mean. It seems like a lot of things drive confidence. Your background. How you were raised. How you were socialized. Putting yourself in the position to have difficult conversations and working to improve how you handle them. Looking for opportunities to speak to groups or lead and working at it. Asking for feedback on performance and reflecting on it. Your personal health and fitness. Getting a good night's sleep is a big one for me. Otherwise I cannot project confidence in messages to groups. Lastly, people need to realize that insecurity is the norm and feeling secure are the exceptions. So you have to take your lumps and work through awkward experiences too. It could be situational or it could be just feeling awkward and ill prepared.

I can't possibly fake confidence. No matter how I consciously sit, my real feeling are gonna come out sooner or later without my awareness. I just catch myself soothing. People make me uncomfortable, I struggle to change that.
Sounds like you’re very anxious and overthinking. The best thing you can do is take a deep breathe and continuously tell yourself to relax, breathe, and you’ll gradually feel more comfortable. It’s a process, also dealing with whatever trauma you went thru.
I think being yourself no matter what individual insecurities one may have goes a long way. The subconscious has a way of reading what’s fake and forced vs what’s natural. Stay grounded.
It's not effective to convey lack of confidence and competence. You clearly haven't been in positions of leadership. It only takes a modicum of social awareness to recognize this.
Male or female alike. There's a difference between perceived projected confidence and just being naturally confident. You don't need to be arrogant with it. You could call it self assured or just being openly comfortable. Same thing.
@sub R0cky true story. I'm quite happy rocking around a town in shorts , t shirt and flip flops. I'm 40. I don't need to impress anybody. Once you're not trying to impress anyone and just do your own thing , life gets so much better.
Self soothing can be endering. We don't all have to be confident at all times. Just be yourself and surround yourself with people who want the best for u❤
sometimes you have to portray confidence. If you were presenting for world leaders, you may not be so confident. In that case you control your body language. But yes triangle finger thing is just for show and a bad look.
I really don't put too much confidence in body language since it's way too easy to get or send the wrong message. I have arthritis so I'm often crossing my arms simply because my arms and shoulders hurt. I also have hearing loss and I sometimes lean in to be able to hear; it's not a come on. Being tired, or having various medical conditions can cause a person to change their stance, gestures and posture. These things can also affect eye contact, frowning, squinting, teeth grinding even smiling.
I think it's important to *feel* confident in these poses. It's always obvious when someone feels a lack of confidence but practices these kinds of poses - it comes off as insecure and defensive. It will only work if you *feel* confident and comfortable in the pose. It's also very human to do things like touch your collarbone. I've seen confident successful business men do this while thinking something over. So the thing you want is the *feeling* of confidence and self worth. That will cement all of your confident body language.

Fake confidence literally is confidence. Studies show if you fake confidence (with bodylanguage) it sends signals to your brain, causing you to get more confident🤷🏼
Just focus on being the best at work and the rest will follow. Honestly, people can sniff very easily if you are good at what you do or not, and the respect will follow accordingly.
Confidence comes from how you think and what you speak

While this is true, it's easy to say "just be confident". I think, just making somebody aware of what kind of message they are giving with their body language goes a long way. There is a reason why women often get paid less - they are often just not as confident in job interviews. So advice like this can be very helpful.
Yea if you know what you're doing you can sit like the beginning and people will still respect you, I know cuz I do that lol

There would be nothing more awkward than approach someone based on their body language and then be called a sexist with toxic masculinity because someone was faking their posture to look a certain way instead of being who they are.

Meanwhile the other half did the megalomaniac steepled finger thing, scamming for their fav donut, and then threw down when someone inevitably lost out. This channel's a potential wrecking ball.

Untrue. How you hold your body will affect how you feel, and will allow people to read you.
How you carry yourself is an indicator of how confident you are. Us humans also have a cool thing where we can use our body position to alter our mood. However at a job interview or other stressful situation is not the place to try it out. Practise being mindful of body position in every day life and it will become more natural.

a good seating position in any situation is just having good posture with good eye contact and paying attention.
It’s also ok to just be yourself, be comfortable, and not worry about what anyone thinks.
It depends on your goals and job, and industry.
Some people have a situation where they don't have to care what others think about the way they sit.

Spot on, Alex. 👍 Solid advice.
Sir, I will thank you for this advice, thank you, because it is true

You can't project confidence if it isn't honest.
You can project your confidence with a fake body language. That's how your brain works, and it's scientifically proven.

I can't possibly fake confidence. No matter how I consciously sit, my real feeling are gonna come out sooner or later without my awareness. I just catch myself soothing. People make me uncomfortable, I struggle to change that.
You can't get confident by changing posture. It takes months to master and you will not be aware that now you look confident
Sounds like you’re very anxious and overthinking. The best thing you can do is take a deep breathe and continuously tell yourself to relax, breathe, and you’ll gradually feel more comfortable. It’s a process, also dealing with whatever trauma you went thru.
This reminds me of a Brooklyn Nine-Nine episode. About a TED talks on power poses.
I think being yourself no matter what individual insecurities one may have goes a long way. The subconscious has a way of reading what’s fake and forced vs what’s natural. Stay grounded.
Actually it doesn’t know the difference it just knows what you are used too
It's not effective to convey lack of confidence and competence. You clearly haven't been in positions of leadership. It only takes a modicum of social awareness to recognize this.
Male or female alike. There's a difference between perceived projected confidence and just being naturally confident. You don't need to be arrogant with it. You could call it self assured or just being openly comfortable. Same thing.

That is very true. 💯 Over the years spoken with doctors about this.
