Still getting the Gen 4. Love the tri led
Same, the gen 4 is also a little more compact obviously as well.
@@theitalian556 I never ended up getting it man😂
@@IMPACT-NATION Hmmm... Why not? Lol
@@theitalian556 went with Flex, then Makita, now Hilti😂
Tools are similar to guns as they have a slight wear in period. Should see an improvement in performance as the tool gets used a bit more. Not saying it will be significantly better but it will run a bit better
still using my gen3, what a monster. while my colleague's makita 183 has all been refreshed twice...
But where can you buy the Gen3 2853-20 model? 🤔 I don't trust Amazon
I would invest in the new Gen 4 if possible battery technology if moving to forge, and that's what these tools are design to work best. However, if you find a good deal, you can't go wrong with a Gen 3
@@toolhead147 Oh yeah. I got the 4th gen with the 6amp forge already 😅. I just got into the trades and I missed out on the older stuff
Thanks for the video and keep up the good work! Sometimes I think it’s splitting hairs over a matter of a second in terms of speed tests. Each tool can have its variances as well. That being said, I would have expected more from the new Gen 4 considering its on par (or inferior) to a tool that’s multiple years old. You would think they would at least “one up” their prior Gen but apparently that’s not what they were after.
So if you have a lazy trades men, what does it matter how fast the tool is?
I prefer the gen 3 it’s perfect
Gen 3 impact driver still available for $67 GREAT VALUE 👍 after the hack.
www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-M18-FUEL-18V-Lithium-Ion-Brushless-Cordless-1-4-in-Hex-Impact-Driver-Tool-Only-2853-20/305059614
Gen 3 still a bit stronger but the gen 4 is updated. I have the gen 3 but the gen 4 looks better imo. Tri led lights with better ergonomics would be nice to have.
gen 3 was amazing for its time but theres no denying it had a major design flaw in that collet that couldnt hold its bits. but i rarely use it for spade bits anyway as i dont like swapping bits out all the time so use the drill driver for that kind of thing but the chuck on the gen 3 drops its bits too
ala mierda con esa 4G es más potente la 3G🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ van de reversa 🤦♂️
El Gen 3 sigue teniendo el tronó
Remember always lower gear is stronger & in this machine the gen 3 won all of the tests I believe, and the speed did nothing in this power race , I won’t buy the gen 4 I love my gen 3 with 5AH batteries
I was about to buy the gen 4. After your good test, I'm sticking with my 2853-20(gen3). Wait for the new batteries?
Still waiting on the new batteries few more years probably
You did the temp test on the Gen 3 after the test on the Gen 4. To give context, you should have done the temp test on the Gen 4 again to see how much the temperatures cooled down.
I'm positive the stacked lithium batteries will play a part in making the gen 4 perform better, im not buying anymore batteries until they release them thats for sure
True 👍
Can't beat Gen 3 let alone the Flex, not too good this time Milwaukee. I'll keep my Gen 3 as my secondary to my Flex. Great video buddy!!
The flex is definitely up there with the king 🤴
I’m seeing a lot of mixed reviews with the GEN4. Tinker with tools the GEN 4 came out on top over the GEN 3 only slightly but still took it. Shop tool reviews the GEN4 is the only impact driver to ever break 550 foot pounds breakaway torque. Tool review zone the GEN four and the flex impact were dead even but GEN4 is more compact and comfortable to use which gives it an edge for me.Not to mention Milwaukee still running cylindrical cells flex was using stacked Lithium ion when stacked lithium is available On the M18 platform that’s gonna tip that scale.
@@steffendetrick9403 It’s interesting as well as I have seen all those videos too. Not sure if it comes down to manufacturing variances per unit or what but it’s definitely worth noting.
@@tonytrofe7137 Honestly I think it literally comes down to the tool being broken in or not. In some reviews they’re taking them straight out of the boxes they drive a few screws or a few holes and then give you their opinion/review maybe they got familiar with it a bit before they did the review. After 23 years I can tell you power tools need to be broken in. Perfect example tool review zone tested it(GEN4)against the GEN3 straight out of the box and it acted a little erratic during the review. Then almost 2 weeks later in another review he put it up against the flex and it went toe to toe with it because at that point it was broken in. I think people were just extremely eager to review it. The tools and the motors need to be broken in some more than others this is definitely not a new thing.
@@steffendetrick9403 Good point
Gen 3 is still a tank! You right man!
Gen 3 still King
But stupid light
@Silent yep, its all about the wood ...it varies wildley from board to board
Nah
I will stick to my gen 3.
the play in the battery slot is protect the battery from heavy vibration
bullshit
Great video! Thanks for sharing!
Gen 4 should have at least some more power, disappointing the older model beats it. Clearly they are maxed out on battery platform. Still powerful impacts as always.
Gen 3 is the BOSSMAN💯👊
Flex with stack battery beats Anything no Mercy
Gen 3 seems faster not slow, new one is only newer that’s all.
Milwaukee Gen 3 is better
most milwaukee tools are made in China. I am rather surprised gen 4 is made in Vietnam. Yea, the power "difference" indicates there's really no point in getting the gen 4 if you already have gen 3. I am more curious about M12.
M12 impact is more powerful than existing model. Man caver tools was ripping it.
Another nice video of yours, I want to buy one of these two, I like the 4th generation LEDs, but according to your experience and criteria, which of the two do you choose?
😂😂😂I drive lags bigger than that all the time at work.
You might want to move on to a mid or a high torque you will be more productive faster and easieron the tool. These tools are designed for smaller screws lags.
@@toolhead147 I have a mid torque. Most of the time if I’m driving a lag we use pilot holes but even if I don’t I’ve just never had a problem with the 1/4” handling this task. Honestly if you have a good impact the only time I see it being a problem is if you’re driving more than a few at a time. But thanks
Why do these tools have a cut-out at the back side of the handle where the battery connects? Looks like a tooling mistake???
that's crazy, maybe u got a freak 3 gen or maybe that gen 4 needs to break in idk, weird.
By being 2.2” wide instead of 2.3 (assuming all things held equal), the tool INSTANTLY loses 10% power (calculate area of two circles with 2.3” and 2.2” diameter). You can make it more efficient, but good luck making it more powerful. I think that’s what we’re seeing here. Milwaukee made the new tool more powerful, but the size difference took away a little more power than their added.
How in the world do you figure that something that is smaller can’t be more powerful??? Yes efficiency can be increased, but with newer technology, power can be increased just as well while decreasing the size…
@@kirkstickney7394😂….
Thanks for the good info and effort.
video is dark
also you hide the measurements with your hand
I am no professional camera man. This is just real world testing.
@@toolhead147 thanks for your reply, if you want me to edit your videos for you i can do that $20 per video, if you like what you see in my channel just let me know we can adjust the brightness and improve sound quality
I'm new to Milwaukee & coming from a home drill Black & Decker matrix set so this gen 4 combo set is GREAT for me & my new found work . Great video!
Don't buy Milwaukee it's owned by China
✅✅✅✅✅
Milwaukee Fuelstack batteries!
Can't wait to test those.
pipe dream, cant even find anything on google about it....where are you getting this info ?
One question. Does your gen 3 wobble a Bit inside when you Shake it slighty back and forth ?
Yes
If there's only a little difference in power and speed then I really don't see the need for a upgrade. The only thing would persuade me Is the the new LED lighting
True 👍
try against the Dewalt new impact driver
Which one, 840 or 850?
What DeWalt would you suggest? I honestly wanted to buy a DeWalt but when I did research none were very good. If I buy a 20v DeWalt plus batteries and it's no more powerful than my M12? I don't recall ever seeing a comparison where DeWalt came very close to Milwaukee.
Please use 6.0ah HO batteries on these.
I don't know if you watched the video but i used a 6ah on both tools.
@@toolhead147 , my bad. I didn't watch the entire video until after I commented. Good test, honest test.
@@michaelenockson6536 thanks
@@toolhead147 I ran the Gen3 for about a year. Sold it to a co-worker and upgraded to the Gen4. To me, they're basically the same, torque wise. I do notice a slight difference in the trigger on the Gen4, in that it starts off a little easier before really putting the nuts on. The Gen3 was balls out from the get, harder to control. Whatever that's worth, both are good, solid contractor grade tools. Really can't go wrong with Red. But let's be real" Gen3 has earned OG status .
Hahaha the difference is the shape and the light and the name but the same tool
Milwaukee just like Apple, small advances, with iPhone. On the H.O. batteries, I would like to see charging level for test.
Do you think gen 4 will fit in a gen 3 case?
It should no problem
High Output run about 50% cooler than XC , use the same batteries in each and see what it shows. Nice comparison otherwise though :)
different batteries were use to stand the tool, same battery used to test tool
