I thing that strange fish near the end is a Scorpionfish. Nasty sting.
Those lookdowns are some good eating fish. You wouldn’t think so because they’re so thin but they yield a good bit of meat too.

Those moonfish are good eating just fry them whole, with me if it fits in my 12" pan I'll fry it whole skin and all/most fish don't need to be skinned

Yes I have had the same problem with the leader that starts with the letter Y. I use Seaguar Gold and it hasn't failed me yet
Thanks for braving the cold and nasty weather. Can't believe 30lb Y brand broke , I could see 20. When it really counts Segaur is money but the Y brand ties up nicer for me , sinches up w no crinkles. My girl is down there this weekend with her kids. Keep them coming.

Looks like you found a school of Moonfish (lookdowns). Btw, back in the late 1960s, I caught a 5 1/2 pounder. It was huge! They get up to 8+ pounds.

Spent last week in Islamorada, kayak stayed tied to the truck. If it’s that windy I’ll fish from the bridges. Not gonna lie, seems like I spent more time at the local breweries than fishing lol

Hey Elias, the species of grunt caught at ~8 mins was a sailor’s choice, not margate, those are an overall pale whitish color, no black in the scales.

Elias, while many angling content providers have ‘cashed it all in’ you have produced excellent content during the winter. With 513 likes so far no doubt many others share the same sentiment. I watched a Crappie catch and cook video from five years ago , and it was also excellent.

Around ~18 mins you had a spotted scorpionfish, which are pretty venomous if you get stuck by their spines, so you need to be careful touching those.

Merry Christmas Elias - Thanks for a year of great and interesting content. I miss guides as well, and wrap the rod, close the truck door on rods, loose rod sections off the truck, forget critical tackle - the list goes on. All part of it.
I've learned the hard way a few times before, never lean the rod on a tree while getting busy with packing up!
This goes for the removable legs from my camo shorts as well !

The Palomar knot strength is 91% more if you glue it. The imp- clinch is up to 86%. the palomar is so easy - once you start using it you will dig it. this was a classi session - lots of fish, fantastic variety etc - the clips of the bull sharks here from last time are basically truly terrifying - 300 lb missiles of testosterone fueled destruction
Palomar Knot
Pro: Very strong knot that is easy to tie when using bare hooks
Con: Can become cumbersome when using larger lures because it requires the lure pass through a loop
Clinch Knot
Pro: Quick and easy knot to tie
Con: Not as fast and easy as the Orvis Knot nor as strong as the Palomar Knot
Uni Knot
Pro: Good knot that is fairly quick to tie and can be used for almost any connection
Con: Not quite as strong as the Palomar knot nor the Clinch knot

I would think the infection on the grouper is probably from being raked against a piling by an angler, or held with a rag or something. It doesn't look like a deep injury, but an abrasion or a dermal pathogen
