You’re the only RUclips channel where I watch literally every single video 😂 keep it up!
Thank you!
Honestly, same. I first started watching when I moved to NC, and never looked back.
Diddo
Never thought I’d see you do some bank fishing
It's like seeing a dog drive a car
Love the bowfin content. They're basically just one big tail, when they're not cold they go absolutely nuts.
ANY way you can show us to fish is most welcome. That looked fun.
Bowfin are some of the coolest fish we have in the states. If you can make time to fish for them in the early spring I recommend it, the males turn electric green when they’re on spawn
Crappie is my favorite fresh water fish to eat. We used to catch them with grass shrimp around duck blinds in Back Bay in Virginia when I was a kid.
They’re delicious
Glad to have you along and hope to get out with you again soon. Need to get on one of those hard bait days!
I subscribed to in fisherman for a year back in 04-05, and for finding fish they suggested switching lures and retrieves regularly if you weren’t catching. It’s served me well over the years and helps be a more dynamic fisherman as well.
From J bay to the finger lakes, the carolinas to the keys, and now some bank fishing in freshwater. Love it
I appreciate this video! It was great. I live in the area and need some ideas where to do some bank fishing.
Paul....not many picked up on this but I like how you are always checking behind you. When you are near a busy highway, you never know what might come behind you. When I am in a an area I am not familiar with, I am the same way. You can't be careful enough these days. I use to fish for bowfin but got bored with it. Love your videos.
I did same kind of fishing yesterday with a 12” triple tail worm. Had a blast.
Thanks for keeping me up until 2am. Can’t stop watching your vids!
Bowfin are super cool. Your videos are top notch. Sometimes I feel like I’m pretty good at catching fish and then I watch your videos and realize I have work to do.
I’m sure you hear this a lot but you are one fishy dude. And you’re humble about it, really enjoy your content.
If you cook a bowfin, they say the trick is to keep them alive till the oil is hot, dont put on ice or get them cold
The Norf Kralina is getting in your blood when you park on the side of the road to target bowfin and stickfish lol.
I'm starting to get on some Hickory shad on the middle Neuse, my favorite fish in nc, big number days in another couple weeks, 100+ days.
You should look into the shad fishing on the CF down there, best location for white shad in nc.
Mudfish are one of my family’s favorite fish to catch. They fight like a train. Greetings from an hour south of you. (Murrells Inlet)
Enjoy your channel a lot
Great video, once you figured the bite out, you were on them pretty regular.
Great to find a winter fish that is receptive.
Great adventure, thanks for bringing us along.
Cheers
Wow, what a unique fishery. It’s nice to see you bank fishing for a change, definitely seems like you had to dial in to their feeding patterns. Well done EV.
Never knew there were so many bowfish in your area. Great video
wow, bowfin city! i paid special attention to the nuances in technique. Thanks for posting this!
You seem to be doing all right there. I always found that a small silver Mepps spoon(spinner) is the fastest way to see if there is any interest around on a dull day.
Dude, battling the Bayou Brawlers! Bowfin Bonanza, lol. I can't recall ever seeing that many in one place before. Up in the northeast here they are much more solitary, cruising the shallows alone for anything they can grab. Not surprised by so many missed hooksets, due to the hard palates of those 'swamp drum'. We left a stringer of nice pike soaking off the dock on Champlain one trip to eat lunch, and when we returned a half hour later, one of the pike was bitten in half. No doubt a large bowfin, as they are opportunistic feeders. Appreciate your efforts to provide fresh and varied content.
Have to comment twice. When you felt the weight and set that hook into the log😂…been there so many times…
Different but definitely cool. Enjoyed the content Brother 👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽
👍😎✌
Thank you Elias.
Stellar video as always man!!! Crazy there was that many in that 1 spot. I have to find some freshwater areas around us when that saltwater fishing is slow like it is now
I do some bank fishing in similar waters to this so this was pretty interesting for me. As I see it, a predator fish is a predator fish-they are fun to pursue and catch, especially a feisty fighter like the bowfin.
Wow now that'sva good day of fishing 🎉 Cool video Elias Keep them coming🎉🎉🎉🎉
Elias i havnt seen you on foot in a while, minus the beach fishing since your early catch and cook days back in NY keep it up brother👍yes ive been watching your channel a long time.
618 would be jealous
Very much like the river rat fishing I did up north when not using my kayak, mostly for Pike. They are also tackle destroyers.
Man you were killing the bowfins!
Nothing wrong with a little change of pace. 👍
In Louisiana they call the Bowfin ….Shoepick. They’ve thinned them out in Louisiana since they found the roe to be delicious.
The bowfin I've caught in Ontario have always been an emerald green in color. I've never seen a little one either.
Surprised to see you out of your Kayak fishing from the bank. Goes to show those skills are transferable! You caught those Bowfin like it was going out of style even on artificials! Nice change up.😊
If possible it would be nice to see you kayaking that area.
Cool video. I guess it is written in the stars to have a bowfin catch and cook!
Swamp Drum! Haha...yep!
Aren't you glad you decided to try this roadside ditch? Traffic noise was quite noticeable, but it didn't interfere with my enjoyment.
You really dialed them in as the day went on. I counted 20 LANDED fish (one got off at the bank) and 5 lost jig heads.
I’ve only ever caught one bowfin, up in MN. I could easily spend a day catching them like that😁👍
Bowfin are one of my favorites to target. Hoping to break that 15lb+ mark
Kool Vid , as always
love Bowfin! here in NY i've gotten them through the Ice. You should try and target them Pre-spawn they get all fired up and the males turn bright green!
Nice!
Ahhh, the infamous and elusive Stick Bass
I've found baby bowfin in the mud in the bank. they're very resilient .
20 fish 3snags Is what I saw on camera and you said you lost six jig heads but I could have missed some in there! Also a stick fish😂And I saw your friend show you a Bowfin and a sunfish I’m still going with 20and 3 by you
Those prehistoric Bowfin are hard-core survivors ... low-Oxygen swamp water isn't a problem. They look like fun to catch on light tackle ... probably hell to cook.
I cant think of another video you do bank fishing at. What's next? Piers?!
Ok Elias.. It's time for a CCC bowfin. I've ate plenty of them when I was a boy in SC with my grandfather.
I sometimes downsize to the 3" ZMan slim swimZ on a 1/16 oz swimjig...slathered with sardine Procure in the early spring...Space Guppy and Pearl are my favorite colors...
By the way...those bowfin are coming in getting ready for the spawn. You already know this but when they are spawning the males fins will turn a neon green. I have found they are the most aggressive when their fins turn that color.
I would have been fishing crappie jigs after you caught that one. Been watching these Michigan guys that fish for steelhead. They catch a fish that looks similar to that bowfin called a burbot. They are great to eat. Maybe it is the cold water or just a different species. Never heard of anyone brave enough to eat a bowfin.
You really can do it all. It must be the same fish bite several times, its not likely that there is so many of them in one swim. Nice work.
When the snake head bow fin shows up im done n gone.
I heard the bowfin move up and down an area like a pack of wolves so the bite might be great for a short time until they take off hunting in another direction.
Is that what it felt like to you?
It’s the best when you win the pool money with a whistle fish.
Mudfish not so much. Go to everglades already. Try flamingo this time. Really enjoy your vids. I'll get over the Mudfish thing.
Bowfin aka Mudfish in Florida are almost a nuisance fish, they can destroy a lot of tackle, but still fun to catch.
It’s like watching someone walk that’s been in a wheelchair
Damn I wish I had bowfin where I lived. I have pike and pickerel and smallmouth tho so I guess I can’t complain too much 😂
Caught an 8 lb bowfin on a buzzbait one time, thought I had Konga on, was my first and glad I didn't lip it. Like catfish with nasty teeth and a bad attitude. Great vid
I love catching Bowfins, Get me Elias,
"Your videos are easy to digest." OliviaYangKo wrote earlier. I think part of your watch-ablility is that you don't try to fill in every quiet space with chatter.
The worst videos, ones that drive me away, are those in which the fisherman gets excited and lets you know by repeating every single thing 2 or 3 times.
Thanks!
Gotta hook em to cook em or buy to fry em !!
If I’m right that first spot is five min from my house on hwy 74 right in whiteville?
Very close. Took me a minute, but you're on the right path. The cut down access gives it away.
I wish the snakehead in Maryland would bite like those bowfin in the winter. We have to wait for warmer months for the snakehead. You can catch them in winter but very difficult. And you are correct, the Northern Snakehead is delicious.
The slack bottom feeders get for being nasty to eat is so bogus and based on nothing really. Snakehead/bowfin are proof
Snakeheads totally shut down right?
@@EliasVFishing some people can catch them sporadically but very difficult so I would say shut down.
You need to tell me your crappie lake in Connecticut lol. But seriously though
What was at at the far ground on the surface of the water at 11:42? Fish on top? A bird? It's a streak of splash
Bowfin smh Felt like I was watching Nick from 618 fishing on another fishing adventure 😂 if you know you know
Good old bank beating
You might want to checkout some videos from Louisiana or Alabama for tips on fishing for bowfin.
Heard they taste muddy. Traffic noise in background was very disconcerting!
21 Fish, 8 snags
How about a bowfin catch and cook?
I bet you this man can catch fish in a puddle 😂
Hell ya bank fishing! Now go bank fishing with live bait off a jetty or at a confluence
Bowfin can quite literally breathe air
That’s insane, I’ve never seen so many bowfin come out of one spot 😂🔥
20 fish caught. 4 snags
It always pays to have your rod and gear in your car.
Like if you want EliasV to keep the Videos coming!
Aloha. I’ve been liking since New York.
Quit playing with dinosaurs and go light tackle for Shad.
Why did you throw that sandwich back? That was just crappie dude
When they hit drop it back they kill a bait fish then swallow it
20 fish landed by you
2 by your buddy
53 missed hook sets/lost fish
4 snags but maybe more off camera?
20 fish 5 snags
After a little more watching although it seems early wonder if the hickory shad were starting up the creek. Lot of hook and gone.
Many years ago fished a lot of the ditches north east Plymouth Columbia Cresswell area. Tell you how long ago it was, it was when they had just started releasing the red wolves out there. Had one on 3 occasions come up and sit on the other side of the ditch looking at me. So of course I did the right thing and fed him him white perch. He had a radio collar on. Took some great pics. Used to catch a lot of yellow and white perch bowfins bass the usual suspects.
Aloha. That’s pretty cool! Too bad they’re still not doing well.
