Bowfin are some of the coolest fish we have in the states. If you can make time to fish for them in the early spring I recommend it, the males turn electric green when they’re on spawn

I subscribed to in fisherman for a year back in 04-05, and for finding fish they suggested switching lures and retrieves regularly if you weren’t catching. It’s served me well over the years and helps be a more dynamic fisherman as well.

I'm starting to get on some Hickory shad on the middle Neuse, my favorite fish in nc, big number days in another couple weeks, 100+ days.
You should look into the shad fishing on the CF down there, best location for white shad in nc.

Dude, battling the Bayou Brawlers! Bowfin Bonanza, lol. I can't recall ever seeing that many in one place before. Up in the northeast here they are much more solitary, cruising the shallows alone for anything they can grab. Not surprised by so many missed hooksets, due to the hard palates of those 'swamp drum'. We left a stringer of nice pike soaking off the dock on Champlain one trip to eat lunch, and when we returned a half hour later, one of the pike was bitten in half. No doubt a large bowfin, as they are opportunistic feeders. Appreciate your efforts to provide fresh and varied content.

I would have been fishing crappie jigs after you caught that one. Been watching these Michigan guys that fish for steelhead. They catch a fish that looks similar to that bowfin called a burbot. "Your videos are easy to digest." OliviaYangKo wrote earlier. I think part of your watch-ablility is that you don't try to fill in every quiet space with chatter.
The worst videos, ones that drive me away, are those in which the fisherman gets excited and lets you know by repeating every single thing 2 or 3 times.

Many years ago fished a lot of the ditches north east Plymouth Columbia Cresswell area. Tell you how long ago it was, it was when they had just started releasing the red wolves out there. Had one on 3 occasions come up and sit on the other side of the ditch looking at me. So of course I did the right thing and fed him him white perch. He had a radio collar on. Took some great pics. Used to catch a lot of yellow and white perch bowfins bass the usual suspects.
