THANK YOU FOR WATCHING AND BEING WONDERFUL!!!
UPDATE: a couple of hours after I finished filming this video, my skin looked cakey because the powder was breaking up. My first impulse was to blame the powder (I in fact shook my fist at the sky and cried "this is why I don't wear powder") but then I realized that another culprit could be the weird "radiant day shield" stuff that I used to prime. Most likely I think it was the combination of the two-I think the priming stuff was kind of breaking through my base, but if I hadn't pressed a matte powder into my skin on top of my cream concealers it might not have looked as bad (it might not even have looked bad at all). And if I hadn't primed with such a fussy product, the powder might have stayed fresher longer. I'm continuing to mess with both products so that I can report back in a future video. But for the time being, my adjusted comment on the Colourpop powder is that it's useful, but easy to go overboard and very important not to use too much. My adjusted comment on the Organic Pharmacy Radiant Day Shield is that I don't trust it as far as I can throw it. Has anyone used this product? Did I get a weird bottle?
Hi Hannah! I use powder foundation for my everyday looks, i find it easy to use and a decent coverage for my skin , but feeling light and natural at the same time. What i do, to avoid being cakey, is that i use a hidrating/glowing setting spray after my powder.
Adore this update!! I’ve never tried that product myself so can’t speak to it but thanks for all you do Hannah- sm love💖
Here you mentioned that the eyeshadow brands you use nowadays feel better than Colourpop. It’d be nice to see a video where you go over your favorite eyeshadow brands and explain why and what is different.
ooh this is a good idea!
Ohhh, that cat blush is probably supposed to be like a Zhaocai Mao or Maneki Neko (Beckoning Cat). It's those cats in Chinese/Japanese stores that wave their paws back and forth. They're based on a legend of a lucky cat (or cats?) that beckoned people to safety from unforeseen danger like lightning strikes, stray arrows, etc. That's such a cute concept, I love it.
At home with my teething child and really appreciating you in the background. At least someone here is chill.
😂😂😂 hope you both get some respite soon
I feel your pain. I was like that during lockdown. Probably how I survived
So relatable. I see you.
😂
That’s my life right now too.
Misery loves company ❤️
Dear Hannah, I recently found your channel, immediately subscribed, and have since been bingeing. :) I love the poetry with which you describe these little passions and endeavours. You are a rare gem! ☆
thank you so much, Janelle!
Alternate title- THINGS THAT MAKE ME GO, “HUH”
I adore your ultra informative videos but man I also love a long rambly fun one as well. Conclusion: I love ALL your videos
Same!!
how the blush packaging works is that there’s a tab on the clear lid that, whenever you open it, pushes on the weighted blush pan against the packaging inside. When you close it again, the weight will spin it back towards the ground again, or move around if it’s held flat. Pretty sneaky!
this is exactly the kind of video i love from you! any long-form, just playing with makeup type of video gets me so excited to watch (often more than once)
I love this look on you! I think a little powder adds dimension. I wish you would try the Danessa Myricks evolution powder. It's powder for those that hate powder. it's so finely milled it's almost invisible and my base shines through it. Also loving the long videos
I get that with the Well People Super powder (it used to be called the Bio Based Brightening Powder.) Khaki talks about it pretty often. It sets areas that I want to set, but doesn't have Talc which drys my skin out like nothing else.
Ooh I've been curious about the Danessa Myricks powder! And most of her products 🙂
This just made me pull out that holographic highlighter I NEVER use. The final look was great. I still reach for my old colourpop shadows, even with all the "heavy hitters" in my collection because they layer well and you really can't mess them up too much, unlike a lot of more pigmented formulae.
I love the bit at the end where you remind us we don’t need to buy into every impulse we may have had during the course of the video. I really appreciate that reminder; it’s why I subscribed.
Hannah, I wanted to say hello. I’ve been bingeing on your videos and you’ve inspired me to do a six month no-buy just to shake some shopping-as-entertainment COVID-era bad habits. Your relatable and very sane videos have been a breath of fresh air. (Also, I majored in Creative Writing ✍️ and enjoy that you share this part of yourself with us.)
hi!! I'm so glad you're here!
Good luck with your no-buy ✨🌈
@@lillyh3447 thank you, my dear! 💗 I’m weirdly excited.
@@HannahLouisePoston you are a brilliant light, Hannah. 💖
Love when Hannah Louise be Poston videos 📹
This comment is everything I needed to read today
If you have time I would love to see more of your makeup play time. I often go back and watch those videos for inspiration and relaxation.
That eye look and highlighter is a Mood!!
Honestly I feel like the most cost effective way to have an amazing range of eyeshadow looks is to own a decent range of color pop shadows (does what it says on the tin, but not the heavy hitters) and then some really special shadows (eg Clionadh) that are transformative. Then you can use cheaper mattes and metallics with a range of colour, and top it with something really shifty, piecey and special. Always a perfect look!
Don’t forget sponges are much less of a hassle to clean than brushes! More importantly, your shoulders are pinker than your neck. Your neck is not the boss, and pink is not a crime! You can blush your neck as well as bronzing it depending on situation.
So true... plus ur sponge doesnt have to dry all the way for u to use it 😉
“Your neck is not the boss.” 😂
Lol. This is so funny. I'm pretty sure I've heard somewhere it's best not to go based off of your neck when picking foundation shades because your neck naturally gets the least sun and will be lighter than the rest of your body.
@@lesliecloud7867 This tickled me too.
They all look the same to me.☺
Me: "I'm just feeling tired & yucky."
HLP: "here's a 45 minute video to enjoy."

🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
your final look is stunning! I love the multi chrome highlight on you.
24:23 the commentary regarding the palette revealing its true self to you reminds me so much of Martin Buber’s existential philosophy of the I - Thou relationship. Idk how lessons from my philosophy elective class permeated to this video. BUT I think it’s quite endearing to see you show such thought, excitement and realization through the personification of the makeup palette. Really demonstrates your love and passion towards makeup.
ANNYWAYSSS LOVE THE VIDEO AND LOOK
I love this comment and it's really cracking me up thinking of the Colourpop palette and me in the I - Thou relationship
It's cool that Colourpop put together a little care package for you that seems to have been well thought out. Sort of. Lol. The palette was a great addition. I'm not sure what they were thinking sending you a matifying powder. Lol.
That highlight combo should honestly be a go to! Your cheeks looks stunning 🤩
I'm quite happy to report that I will finally be able to relate to your face products preferences and recommendations as I am on my 3rd day of Accutane lol
I remember accutane. I didn’t realize I would have to relearn how to do makeup that looks good on dryer skin!
@@mirny1509 This is my second course and yes, it changes your routine so much.
I used to still powder my whole face in fear I'd get oily, it would almost make me panic if I didn't.
I am only on my 3rd day so not quite raisin like yet but I feel it coming lol
No fussy skin stuff for me, but am intrigued about the night cream and lip product. Ooh and that highlighter. I don't care that I'm 60 years old, I want it!
I thoroughly enjoy how articulate and well spoken you are. You are so enjoyable to listen to. You have a superb vocabulary!
thank you, Anita!
Hannah, this look is *THE* moment, it looks clean but grunge, perfect one would say.
Also wondering if you've seen the glosses from the Shrinkle x Trixie collab
Watching you play with makeup is so fun. I love this vibrant new vibe you have going into the new year. It definitely seems like you're having a lot of fun with your channel while still maintaining the helpful message about not overspending.
Your videos really just make my day so much better
:)
you have such an inspiring personality. im not that interested in makeup, don't apply it that much but religiously watch every single video because it is so pleasant
Ooh I hope you do a depotting video of that colourpop palette into singles!!! I love your single eyeshadow content
Did I spot that Colourpop palette you lusted after in the thumbnail? 🤔 I cannot imagine that you bought it, so it has to be PR, congrats 😁
I’d like to see it next to the Emily Edit, mostly because the background color made me think of it and the colors are as varied and bright.
I discovered your channel just yesterday, and I’m hooked. Your artistic vibe and love of color and texture and how they affect you brings my aunt to mind. You artists move me.
Seeing it’s 46 minutes>>> 😭🤩🤩
Absolutely LURV this “weird makeup” on you!💜
ive recently been experimenting with some holika holika eyeshadows in a (to me) unusual wet-adjacent flaky glittery formula and the way you use that ritz(?) shadow to change the mood of the eyelook and create a veil of sparkle has really been my go-to technique for the holika holika ones.
I love your message at the end of this video Hannah. It is exactly what I need to hear. You are incredible at what you do.
thank you
If you don't yet have the Super Shock Shadow in the shade Ladybird, you MUST get her. Such a beautiful shade. I really think you'd love it. Also, if RawBeautyKristi's palette ever comes back, I think you'd like it. EDIT - Never Mind, that "It's A Mood" Palette has pretty much every shade Kristi's palette had. 🤭
~ something about ThE PhYsIcS ~ you crack me up 😂😂😂😂
omg that highlighter is INSANE. WOW !!
Thank you for always saying the most perfect things that keep me in line with my budget and make me excited to play with what I already have. You are just the freakin' best.
Fun video!! Thanks Hannah 💜 I normally don’t care about PR boxes but that one has me - I love the packaging design. I use those highlighters a lot as inner corner highlight, straight eyeshadow, topper and highlight. They’re so fun!!!
The word you were looking for is occlusive . The medical definition “ is moisturizing agents that work by forming a protective layer on the surface of your skin, and create a barrier to moisture loss. “
I love this look, especially the cheek! It makes me want to buy that highlighter but I have several to get through before considering another.
The Kaleidos Space Age Prophecy multi chrome highlighter will look amazing on your olive undertones. I never thought I’d use such a thing and I love it so much. It’s especially lovely on mostly bare skin or a slightly peachy cheek.
Hoping for a Kaleidos highlighter-as-eyeshadow video!
I’m so glad you got the colourpop palette! And OMG I love that Kaleidos highlighter! 😍
This is such a fun makeup look! It would be so perfect for a night out with friends, fun date night, etc (whenever these things are a part of life again). 👌
someday!!
In the UK we’ve just been told that all covid restrictions will end in March, or maybe sooner. It’s time to practice wearing real clothes and makeup again!! 😲🥳
I don’t need to buy it (and I wont), but the spinning cat highlighter really brought a smile to my face
#relatable That's always the most annoying part of my makeup routine!
Dang! That highlighter looks incredible on you. ✨👌🏻✨
Friday night, my husband has turned in, glass of wine for me and getting caught up on HLP posts. Such a beautiful outcome and fun commentary pertaining to the products. And I love love love your hair!
hi Michele! Sounds like such a lovely Friday, I hope you are dong well
I love your Wolfcut, Hannah. If I had more than 10 strands of hair on my head I would definitely get that cut. 😍🐺
I got one inspired by Hannah’s first cut (the shag that doesn’t even know a mullet cut) and I love it. My next cut I’ll be going more shag(gy)
@@cecileganel you lucky duck!!! Shags are FUN & sexy. (That’s what she said….😬)
Wow, this turned out so beautifully!
The grungy green eyes with the kaliedos highlighter is serving major alien nightclub cyberpunk vibes and I love it!
Also what brush are you using to apply the zeesea highlighter? It looks like a nice combo between small and fluffy.
it's a rephr brush but I think it might have been a tester that didn't go into production! It's very similar to the ABH A23, I think it was their version of that brush.
@@HannahLouisePoston Thanks! Its a shame refr doesn't have that brush in their line up. I'll try to use the rephr 16 brush since I think it's the closest thing I own right now.
I 1000% appreciate how you end videos like this with a reminder to turn to our current collection when feeling the desire for new things we don't need. ❤
That face powder looked flawless on you ✨
Thank you so much for walking me through my struggle in the end.. it helped 100%! Please continue to do that after videos like this. Also, I loved the look!
Thanks for sharing Hannah 😊. I'm a fan of Color Pop shadows and the City Lips glosses. I really like the color Plum; a cool, yet neutral, shimmery plumping gloss. 💋
Two minutes in I’m admiring the thin outer brows. I’m not of the boy-brow generation.
Ooh, for the Exa product, the ladies at Credo were VERY insistent I pat, not rub/spread it onto my eyes. So as you use it, if you find it a little patchy or odd, maybe try tapping it on where you need it, instead.
Love the look you came up with overall! You squeezed so many products into it-amazing!
I'm loving your lipstick collection in the background 😉
Why is it so satisfying to peel the film off a mirror? Even just watching was satisfying.
Omg, the REN overnight balm is insane. It keeps my skin manageable in the winter. It's like it delivers moisture AND creates a barrier to keep everything in. It's bonkers and a must have for me. Fortunately REN often has samples of that (little tubes) in various stores.
I'm so impressed by it! glad I'm not alone!
I would love to use that kaleidos highlight as an inner corner highlight! My favourite way to use a holo shadow or highlighter
Hannah, what a wonderful video! The eye look is gorgeous but my favorite part was the lips. Absolutely stunning. Beautiful level-headed reminder at the end.
I love you editorial wearable style. I've realized when I get excited to buy products you love, is that you just sum up what my ideal self would style herself as if I didn't live in dusty work clothes or pajamas 😅 (I've decided to at least buy myself some fun slinky pj's once I stop cleaning in them, or dropping toothpaste 🙈 2022 goals!)
I thoroughly enjoyed this little romp through weird & interesting make-up! So much fun! You're such a gem - thoughtful, intelligent, humorous - and I love the overall pace of your videos & how you take your time giving us alllll the deets, regardless of the topic. I'm a very detail oriented person so I truly appreciate that. Also, you are a fellow cat lover so that automatically puts you in my good books! 💖
I am getting my life with this blush😂😂😂😂
I think of colourpop shadows as sort of a benchmark. Like I couldn't possibly spend time with lesser quality shadows given the price and consistent formula of colourpop. I also almost always add a super shock to top off a look so the impact of the normal shimmer formula is not as much of a factor for me. I like that the sss add a little bit of texture without covering the underlying look.
That little cat paw highlighter was super adorable, but your videos have been slowly teaching me that I can enjoy watching you play with it without needing to own it myself. This no buy is already working for me much better than I thought it would.
Would you consider reviewing Florasis? They've got the most stunning creative beautiful fabulous packaging I have ever seen but I'm curious about the actual product too
I think she's got one
Oh my bad I was thinking of Angelica
I have never seen a spinning highlighter either! 😂 not sure I need it, but next time zeesea has a sale, I might give it another look. I don’t have Kaleidos Gifted, but I have their other multichrome highlighter and I love it. It has an orange flash that makes my heart flutter. I wear it much like you’ve done here, too. It’s crazy fun.
The lipstick is perfect color, I want this 😍
Loving this hair 😍
Your makeup looks better with the colourpop powder.. so nice!! Super shock eye shadow and blush are really fun.
I absolutely must get my hands on that City Lips stuff!
What a fun video. You always crack me up so much. I could literally watch you put on makeup all day long.
Loved this video, I so appreciate the last round up comments too cause ngl I was like "maybe I need all of this".
I'm really surprised people think you've had work done, you were stunning before and you're stunning now? If anything I feel like you really embrace yourself these days even more (I've been lurking on this channel since mid way through the no-buy).
I'm weirdly delighted you now have the 'It's A Mood' palette in your possession. In your dupe the vibe video about this palette, I really did obsess over the description of it being a grungy rainbow, and it might be in my cart on the Colour pop website right now. BUT! I realized it's A very similar color story to the Kathleen Lights So Jaded mega palette from a while ago, which I haven't played with much, so I'm trying to get into dupe the vibe mode of that grungy rainbow as a begin a much needed declutter. Wish me luck!
I clicked extra fast when I saw that Colourpop palette. I have a mix of price points in my collection and some of their palettes speak to me.
That colorpop pallet is so so so reminiscent of the RBK colorpop pallet and the abh subculture pallet!
That was fun!! I enjoy your commentary so much. Btw ❤️ the eyes.
I've had such bad luck with skin care. My skin is just very sensitive. Rosacea, burning dry skin no matter what. I'm trying that goat milk line now. Ok but really not what I'm looking for. Until I find something to calm my skin down, no way can I even attempt make-up. I just came across your channel and I love how you explain things.
I actually use my Kaleidos highlighters as eyeshadows, or toppers! I have the discontinued Diamond Dasher and I love it as a brow bone highlight. Have only used them for their intended purpose like two times lol. Also, now I feel like someone at colourpop watches your channel 😂
I think the super shock shadow added a really nice dimension ! The way it looks when the light hits is beautiful.
Bring on the weirdos and weirdon’ts!
I spy a Colourpop palette I’ve wanted to buy for a long time but haven’t because I don’t need it but it’s so pretty so maybe I’ll get it after you tell me what you think but also maybe never 😮💨
that highlight GAGGED ME!!!!!!!!!!! Hannah youre trying me rn... im between getting something from RDF and from kaleidos and the only things that stopping me from ordering from Kaleidos is the terrible shipping process lol
Having a captive bead ring septum piercing, I do well remembering “upper lip” makeup. I do much worse remembering to clean off my ring and spin it so that it doesn’t look dull and tarnished. Alas, I will forever have a not shiny nose ring
O Hannah, my Hannah. Loved this video as always, and hark! I have a request! I’d eventually love to see a review of the Danessa Myricks dewy cream cheek palette(s). Yours is the opinion I value most when it comes to these cheekies, and I have so much appreciation for my e.l.f. lip & cheek palette. However, I’ll run out of it soon and am fixing on upgrading. Fingers crossed you can fit the Danessa Myricks into a future review! Thanks as always :)
Be Warned.....I have been using the City beauty Multi-action sculpting cream for a couple years now and It ALWAYS pills if i try to put it over anything except one layer of watery toner or one layer of facial mist. Pills every time no matter how long i wait between layers of product. However, I keep using it because i do see results with it. Very annoying tho.
Everytime you express how you feel about powder products, I scream "please Hannah! Give Hourglass a try!" I love the luxury packaging, the glory finishes, I feel fancier when I wear their products. Especially their holiday pallet. It doesn't really matter which year it is, you can get whole experiences of the brand so you don't have to buy bunch of products to get to know them. I have one from 2020, and I thought "Ugh! I wish the blush was different shade..I don't like it." but I ended up loving it!
I adore that lip color 🤩
I'm finding lately that I'm a little bored playing with my makeup doing the same 2 or 3 eyeshadow placement variations (it's usually about the eyeshadow for me) and I don't really have time to experiment with really complex or detailed looks, particularly when most of the time I'm doing my makeup before work. There are a few things I know I want to buy that will enhance my existing collection, but I'm not in any hurry to get them, so I decided I'm going to use a couple of Pinterest boards I created a while ago for makeup inspiration. I pinned looks I really love and I have plenty of makeup so I should be able to get at least a similar look and it'll be fun trying new things that are perhaps a bit more out of my usual comfort zone.
Glad you see you review the colourpop palette. I also am not a fan of Charlotte's matte lipstick formula.
The spinning cat is amazing haha
I love the kaleidos highlighters! I have prophecy (which is my favourite) and sky walker (a blue one).
I love that eyelook but I'm gonna keep resisting buying that palette, I have all those shades in formulas I love (including meteorite, the terracotta eyeshadow from colourpop that you have and I love so much it's perfect)
that blush packaging, wow 👏😍
My experience of lucky cats is the Japanese version (maneki neko) and they are the golden plastic cats that you often see in windows in asian restaurants etc - they have a little weighted motion device in them that makes them perpetually wave one of their paws (I actually have one in my kitchen that a friend gave me after her art show about good luck) but I’m not allowed to have it waving because it drives my beloved crazy when it catches his eye all the time 😂 I assume the blush packaging is trying to emulate the cat waving it’s arm…
Loved the eye makeup look, ESPECIALLY the browbone highlight. I've noticed in the past that you've done an icy cooler toned color for your browbone and I hate to say it but I've never liked the look of that on anyone BUT THIS, this barely there gold with a green flip that's just giving the sensation of the setting sun on a field of grass. I love. It works so well with your hair and eye color and your undertones. I'm also olive and I quickly realized that many greens don't agree with me. I'm very glad that the colorpop palette has some flattering ones.
I'd also agree that the shadow looks a bit out of place but it serves well. I would've just been in favor if Ritz had a more prominent red base to work off the other shadows. As it is though it definitely grunted it up. I would've personally worn it with a deep burgundy lip, because I like going all the way smoky.
Shop Miss A Sponges are affordable and amazing. ❤️❤️❤️
I appreciated the warning. 😍 Also, I love the look.
