COVID nurse here! The malaise, lack of stamina, and smell/taste differences are symptoms that can hang out for awhile, usually for a few weeks to a few months, but most people recover fully, just takes time. My husband recently had COVID, too, I’m so sorry you caught it! Believe it or not, the current variants at least cause less severe symptoms - for awhile, it was unbelievably rough from a healthcare perspective. It’s so lovely to have you back!!! 🥰

@@steph4230 Hi! I would caution to always address any concerns you have about any treatment with your primary care physician, however, as far as my opinion goes, I would absolutely recommend the booster. I would have already gotten a second booster if it were available to me. The vaccine may not always prevent people from getting COVID, but it has drastically lessened the amount of patients that need hospital care by reducing the severity of symptoms. Knowing the science behind vaccinations, I've never entirely understood the fear many people have regarding the COVID vaccine, unless of course you have severe allergies - much of what is out there is misinformation. Please go by statistical evidence, not anecdotes, and always consult your doctor. 🙂

I did actually find you from the financial diet and have been an avid subscriber ever since. You literally (yes literally) became my new *must watch every upload* youtuber. I'm so glad your channel is growing and youre getting to do content for tfd. Thanks for being so open about getting sick and your experience with it. I often feel alone for how "scared" I feel about getting it as I still haven't... so you referring to it as The Spectre was validating. As far as makeup - I loved the drops of bronzer - I don't think I've seen that type of application before come out so beautiful. It was also fun getting to see the stamps because I feel quite silly when I think about trying to have winged eyeliner with my hooded eyes lol

First: the Merit lipstick swatching video was some of your finest work (somehow that category keeps getting larger and I will need to re-evaluate my ranking criteria). Second: so good to have you virtually back with us! Third: take as much time as you need. I got Covid in the middle of my PhD program right after my candidacy, and I can confirm that it takes awhile to process those emotions. I still taught my anatomy class virtually when I was sick instead of taking time off, and it took many weeks to unpack the irony of those circumstances...all that to say: take whatever time you need and we'll be here!

hi bb, I'm still in the middle of watching your video, but what you're saying about productivity really resonates with me. when the world shut down in 2020 that was a big moment where I realized I was always going and really never made time for myself and it was a miracle that I hadn't burnt out. leading into March of 2020 I was working full time and also had a part time job that I worked on the weekends as well as every weeknight going to beauty school.... like how did I even do that? I'm exhausted just typing it out. I am so sorry you haven't been well but i'm happy you're on the mend and tho it was unfortunate that being sick and out of commission was forced you to look at how you work and the value of productivity and how it's skewed, it's still a good thing to have done / be in the process of coping with. i'm always here for you bb, ily

❤️❤️😭😭 it's so real! For a while I've known intellectually that there's a problem with having one's self-worth tied too closely to productivity, but knowing it is one thing and being able to act on it is another. I think that doing nothing for over 3 weeks and seeing that the entire world didn't fall apart kind of emboldened me to act on the knowledge

    • @hautemesstom
      @hautemesstom Год назад +7

@@HannahLouisePoston I think it’s an especially hard lesson when you have to be self motivated and your creativity/source of income are combined. It’s like when do you stop? When have you hit the amount of productivity you should have hit? Then to follow it up with tying productivity to how successful you were and seeing real time analytics of how successful you were. It’s all tough.

I have slightly hooded eyes and use the eyes open, draw-over-the-crease "batwing" method. Personally, it's the only thing that gets me consistent liquid eyeliner that I like the look of. Crystal Lindy's video from a few years back on how she does her eyeliner was a game-changer for me and I can't recommend that video enough!

Well, this really spoke to me as someone who tested positive for Covid only yesterday. I have come to think of it as “the vacation I didn’t want, didn’t ask for.” However what helps me shut off any guilty feelings summarily is that Covid is so relatable. It is almost synonymous with “I can’t do anything right now.” My job, as I see it right now is to get better. To get better it is important to rest and not attend to my life for a bit. It is causing my son some stress as we are supposed to be helping move him into his dorm on Friday but we will figure that out with time. Glad you are getting better Hannah. Hopefully my case will be more mild.

I have hooded eyes so I totally understand the struggle with winged liner! I find that what looks best on me is if I *don’t* start the wing right at the outer corner of my eye. I start it like 1-2mm or so before the very corner and then draw the line more outwards than upwards. Drawing outwards helps to avoid the hood (as much as I can) and starting before the very corner stops my liner from looking “droopy” and pulling the corner of my eyes downwards. But liner is hard! It never looks the same day to day, we’re all just trying our best out here. 😂

Because of my mental health, there was some long periods of time where I couldn't work ( I am very priviledge to be able to do so) and I realized that work is just there for me to earn money. It doesn't have any impact on my identity and my inner world. We never know what could happen, be it to our bodies, minds or environment, so I think it's really important to find your worth as a human being outside of work.

For my winged liner on hooded lids I draw a literal line from the end of my lashes up to the tail of my brow to give me the angle and go from there. At first I thought it was a little insane, but the lift it gives me is worth it. I apply that tip to eyeshadow as well and it's been most useful to get things more symmetrical or not get carried away.

Alexa Chan has a good eyeliner method. She curls her lashes and puts on mascara before she draws the angle of her winged eyeliner, with eye open looking straight ahead. Basically it’s like drawing in an eyelash at the end of the eye and then connecting it to the rest of the eyeliner. I’ve tried it and it looks the best on hooded eyes.

Missed you, glad you’re well but even more glad you had time to reflect!
I was supposed to be moving to LA in summer 2020, was literally in the process of getting packed when everything collapsed. I ended up moving in with family for about 18 months and spent most of that time unemployed and not doing drag.
That sort of forced reflection time can be really powerful, and I came out the other side having reevaluated some pretty foundational goals and aspirations I was structuring my life around. The circumstances that lead to such reflection are rarely easy, but I think it takes total derailment of our plans to force that kind of introspection.
Very glad you’re back in action and that Joe is healthy too. Gonna pop over to TFD now and check out the new vid!

I also have hooded eyes and in addition have never been able to make a decent wing, but recently I’ve been flicking up the eyeliner from my bottom lash up and it actually looks pretty good! Following the curve of my bottom eyelid upwards.
Still not the besttttt look but better than any other time I’ve done it!

You look so cute in the beginning of the video ! You look like a small fluffy bird who’s molting its baby fluff. Glad to see you back 💚
Also : the look you ended up with is a very French look. Like all my classmates who wore makeup basically did it like this. Everyone you see wearing a full face of makeup in the subway or in the streets does it like this. Mascara, (winged if you’re fancy and pretty young) liner, blush, bronzer sometimes, and nude-rosey or pink-red satin or glossy lips. Matte is possible but not that frequent. Eyeshadow, even when it’s barely visible, is pretty rare on average. It’s weird to see it on a non-french person on RUclips x)

Very excited to see your video again! Id love your opinion on florasis makeup if you’d ever consider the brand. All the videos I have seen have been sponsored and I am just unsure as I have not been following the RUclipsrs before then. They have a face palette that seems very pale as well also, they have maybe the best looking packaging I’ve ever seen

Glad you’re feeling better ❤️ you look great! How amazing are the Merit lipsticks? I wasn’t going to buy any lip products for a while till I started using up what I have… till I tried the Merit lipsticks and now I’m in trouble 😁 Now I refuse to buy any other formula for lipstick so I hope they expand their shade range!

I have really hooded eyes but I love eyeliner, it's a struggle!!! I find the most flattering way to do it is to make the flick as teeny tiny and thin as possible (which is a shame because bold eyeliner looks so good on other people)

Not yet at the middle of the video but I wanted to suggest trying the Katie Jane Hughes eyeliner technic for hooded eyes! It's the only way that looks ok on me (also have hooded eyes) and also shows a little surprise when looking down ☺️
