I’ve been watching a ton of style videos lately and everyone speaks with such authority and conviction, which is great, but I notice that I’m left feeling like I’m behind or late to the game or something because I’m still trying to learn what suits me in this phase of life I’m in. I’m 3 months postpartum and feel like a bumbling mess of clothes and products in an attempt to feel somewhat normal again. Watching this made me laugh and reminded me that no matter how professional or curated the content, everyone has days like these

I used a Retinol last night and this morning woke up with a tiny red spot on my cheek. I looked in the mirror and felt ugh. Tonight, the cashier who rang up my groceries had cystic acne all over her face. She was polite and helpful. I immediately thought back to my morning bout of melancholia and I had this overwhelming urge to give this young girl a hug. Of course, I didn’t. It makes me think how fragile and delicate we all are and how wrapped up in our worlds we can sometimes be. Thank you Hannah for “putting yourself on” for us even when you may have been feeling ugh inside. ❤️

When I was a little girl my mom would do my hair in braids & wrap it around the top of my head like a tiara or crown. I remember the pain of the bobby pins shoved into what felt like my brain lol. When I got older & had very long hair, I would sometimes take just the front portion & braid it & wrap it around my head. It's a more difficult style for me now since my hair is not all one length (it's long but layered) so it requires some sort of gel. But it really is a lovely way to wear your hair up & off your face in hot weather or when you just want to look more fancy than a pony tail or messy bun worn in a clip. Thank you for the memories ❤❤

Oh Hannah, I'm not sure what your routine is but if you have active acne/scars, etc. its not good to have physical exfoliation and most derms suggest not using that type at all, at most a chemical exfoliator (AHA/BHAs) like 1-2 a week max with consistent use of vitamin c serum and sunscreen in the morning and tretinoin and a deep moisturizer at night. Like your video states, I don't claim to be an authority but this has drastically improved things for me and hope it helps you if you aren't already knowledgeable and doing so. We share a similar skin type and tone and I have rosacea so learning to be gentle with my skin and skin care has been useful, focusing on soothing/milky/calming ingredients/products, and avoiding harsh scrubs or actives besides the ones mentioned has done wonders and its taken decades to learn/discover for myself so hoping that you continue to flourish beyond just beauty and outer appearance as well and best wishes!

When I woke up this morning I couldn’t fathom getting out of bed and facing the world. I’m in that space where I feel there will never be joy again. I appreciate this video so much, it was a soothing distraction and so grounded in realness. Today I have to go and be a librarian, while my heart is just in here, in pieces, as I try to do my normal job. Just did a less pretty version in preparation for a wedding, to give my hair some wave, and wrapping/tying it up in a silk scarp really helped. I wore the scarf while I slept and also during hours of getting ready because my hair is poker straight… Good to know some more of the details on your glorious crown of braids. Thanks for sharing! I loved this low key video with a random assortment of beauty products. I think it would be entertaining if Joe shopped your stash. Similar to him going into Sephora with your budget. He can just give you a random assortment with no context until the very end on what his original vision was for either the look or video.

I woke up this morning feeling pretty unwell mentally and physically. Ran a bath, put ice on my neck, did breathwork, nothing was bringing my heart rate or my mind back down. Just did a less pretty version in preparation for a wedding, to give my hair some wave, and wrapping/tying it up in a silk scarp really helped. I wore the scarf while I slept and also during hours of getting ready because my hair is poker straight… Good to know some more of the details on your glorious crown of braids. Thanks for sharing!

I'm sorry if I missed it but have you ever tried the merit foundation stick? It looks like they have cool tones that would match our skin color. So many "fair" or "light" foundations make my skin look bright peach or yellow
