What is heartbreaking to me is that Phos is the embodiment of the moral dilemma of the Ship of Theseus.
Phos had almost all of their parts stripped and replaced and changed so much. Sure, the tiny fragment of Original Phos hopefully will find peace and happiness with the pebbles, but the Phos that endured all these terrible circumstances, who went through so much for the sake of others...is still left alone on a ruined planet.

It's also a very intense analysis of the idea. what if someone found the original parts of phos and put her back together? I mean i know it's supposed to be to impossible at this point, but that's what i thought when i found out the lunarians were grinding the lustrous into powder. It really makes you think when the rules of life are altered. I love it, even if it makes me sad.
What I really like about the Pebbles is that they saw Phos as Phos. And Pitapat making sure that the gem Phos, the one we started with is going to live with the happiness of being around friends who don’t care about what Phos can offer to them. They care about Phos because they just care about Phos nothing more. That’s why Phos trusted Pitapat because that small desire to be loved and care for will finally be fulfilled by those who do care about Phos

I would say that the fear of losing those they care about like Antarc, Ghost, and Cinnabar gives them the rationale that they have to do things alone especially when they want to ask Cinnabar to be by their side but refuses to ask.
You do bring up a great point about failing that initial encyclopedia job gives this urge for Phos to at least complete this prayer and godship that has been granted to them.
It really does make the “I trust you” hit home. I would say that Phos letting Ventricusis still use Phos as a hostage was their first form of this trusting nature even after betrayal without tying it to the verbal affirmation.

The trauma is still in phos, that why they gave up and phos can't forgive themselves about the actions that they have played and has low selfsteem. Is not the ideology of humanity that its dooming phos, that justification based on fear of becoming like them. Whitch is not real in this case. The social emviroment has changed but still phos belives they need to do all alone.
I can see how that could be the case, hopefully we’ll get more info on if Phos is any better in the next chapter

HnK ending at 108 means the final end, Phos went through it all and achieved the peace they deserved.

What a powerful line. Phos has slowly lost more and more of themselves, and endured comments saying it would be better for more of them to be replaced, where it was always the Phosphophyllite part of them that was the problem. Yet in the end, its just Phos, and that is what is valueable. That is what is desired and known. When they look the least like a human, they are loved most as a person.

I have really enjoyed this channel if you ever need another Manga to talk about once this one ends even though there is enough depth of story in hosekai no kuni to speak on it forever I would like to recommend "witch hat atelier" if you haven't heard of it. A more straight forward story than hnk but still enjoyable.

One thing I was thinking, when Phos meets Cinnabar they said something like "I want to go to the moon, maybe they have a utility for me there" and young Phos kinda get shocked by that, and later in the history Phos ia the one how wants to go to the moon with cinnabar and remove the mercury from them, so maybe cinnabar refuses after seen how much Phos changed and looks like the only thing they can think about?
Yeah, I can see that. Perhaps Cinnabar also believed going to the moon would no longer be worth it, cuz of Phos
