The fact that Phos constant journey of "improvement" was the reason itself por deep suffering is extremely touching because its the final proof that happiness actually resides in accepting oneself and in being part of a community that also does it (I think in buddhism it translates as Sangha). I like this take on the ending. so much stuff coming together the comets/shooting stars, adamant showing phos' eye to the ice flows, the flower gems it all makes sense. I have to admit the end of this manga has left a bit of a void on one hand I understand the themes and messages but on the other I wish we had a proper reunion for everyone and closure. Also something that i really love about the comet two page in chapter 108, is that it parallel the first chapter, when phos is asleep in the field and watches the sky when she gets awakened. For me personally it represents that the end of phos journey was finally achieved, her journey did not end when she burned the bridge. Also all the pain and sadness she went through led her to her finding her place and finally realizing that she didnt needed to fit in, she was ok since the start. I'm gonna write a long ass comment, so don't mind me.
First and foremost I truly want to thank you, @RizaCreator, for your insides. It cleared a lot of things for me, as I just finished reading the manga a couple hours. But I can't say I am satisfied.
Don't misunderstand, I love the manga. It is right now the best story I have ever read, and I don't say that lightly. The way the characters have been written and the plot was set, has really really impressed me. I really respect everyone who has worked on this masterpiece. But it is just the morrality behind this story that I can't seem to accept. Even if Phos found peace in the end, how could her 'brothers' just stop caring about her like that. They just forgot about her while they lived their lives happily on the moon with the lunarians. Left her in pieces for 220 years or something and then when she invaded their home and 'freed' Sensei, they left her to rot alone on earth. Nobody cared about her. Even freaking Cinarol (forgot how to spell her name) didn't care for her. They all used her and left her, without any sense of guilt or sadness for what they had done to her. And even though the story sais that vengeance is the most human thing, phos didn't get do that in the end. She helped them instead, even though they mistreated, ignored and took everything she had done for them for granted. And yeah sure, Achmea tried to get phos also in 'paradise' with them, but that really isn't enough. At least I don't find it enough. Being at peace is the most imporant thing a humanbeing can attain, but phos didn't at all deserve to be called usseless for 300 years or something, and then get mistreated, used, abused and whatnot for more than 10.000 years in their schemes. Where did they get the audacity to do all of that, and still dare to ask Phos to free them. My blood has been boiling since she freed them. And even though I also read the last chapters with the stones and Pitapet, I couldn't feel anything but hatred against the other characters. Phos has been wronged on a level I could never imagine before finishing this manga. I don't know how or when I will get over this, but I already know that I won't get to peacefully sleep for a couple of nights. Maybe it is because I am a strong advocate for justice, or because I am a true believer of revenge, but I will most likely never find peace with this story. Ironic, right? Perhaps if someone had shone empathy for Phos, I could have accepted this outcome for 'the greater good', but that didn't happen. Even Antartic (also forgot how to spell her name) just needed a few words of Sensei, to disregard anything she felt for Phos. How cruel! How sick! And the craziest of it all is that it is so humanlike to use someone and then disgard them later on when they have fulfilled their 'purpose'.
But yeah, that's just how I feel. And even though I feel this way, I still find this to be the best written story among all, because of its relevance and its analyses to what it is to be human. I truly felt like I had been sacrificed for the greater good of others, while I was just sitting in the comfort of my home. The anime is beautiful and presented the manga really really well. The manga is also great, because even though it is black and white, you can still distinguish most characters, even though they look a lot like eachother. The words also touch you in a way that makes you truly live within the manga. It is just the cruel treatment of our main character that I can't seem to swallow, but that is a bit of a me-problem considering the other reviews I have read and heard online.
Well then, for those who read this, thank you for your time and feel free to agree or disagree with me.

its kinda the point tho, humanity sucks, suffering sucks but hey! brongo saving the last piece phos as one last act of humanity’s kindness (or humanity’s remnants’ kindness how you see it) acts as a hope spot for us. we may not have a place in that perfect universe the rocks end up in but phos, as the last ember of what makes us HUMAN, gets a small seat. their purest form, the phos that smiles, the memory humanity would like to carry as the era of humans come to an end. good end imo

honestly I loved the ending of this sad rock manga, cause even without looking at the buddhist themes you can still find a good message. I saw the ending without knowing all of those themes, and took it as a message that with enough time you can look back at your pain and find a way to heal the parts of yourself that might have almost fully ground down by the experiences you've gone through. That's why the cover with god Phos leaning over their old child self is so touching to me, it's themself trying to make the past them feel better. Reconnecting with themself and healing from all the pain. Really a beautiful story.

This manga is in that gray area between a good ending and the dark, everybody dies and the main protagonist turns evil at the end. This results in that dissatisfaction. But imo that is why many like this ending. That disappointment where the ending is in the gray (for this universe's Phos) area gives the whole story its uniqueness.
Phos finally has gotten peace, but she definitely deserved better, it hits you in:
"The sensation described as a combination of unease, disquiet, and perhaps even a touch of existential discomfort. It's that feeling when a story resonates deeply within you, stirring up emotions and thoughts that challenge your perceptions or touch upon raw, unexplored aspects of human experience. This sensation can leave you feeling unsettled yet captivated, as if the story has peeled back a layer of reality to reveal something uncomfortably true. Some might call it the "uncomfortable truth" effect or the "chilling resonance" of a narrative."

mhhh to me it was an obvious good ending? id say everybody died like how we all die at some point, that doesnt make it all bad , thats just how things happen and its inevetible... and we had the luck of having the inevitable come to terms in a manner that was beautiful, calm, comforting adn peaceful.

@@ceton1843whether you think the ending was sad or happy is completely personal. Personally I think it’s a morally gray ending with a hint of happiness (but the only reason it’s a happy ending is because humanity has been erased so some might see that as a good or bad thing). Me personally I see it as a good think hence why I say a hint of happiness

So this is a bit of information to give reference to the time scale of this series: The sun is estimated to turn into a red giant in approximately 5 billion years. God-Phos literally witnessed this event. If we're being EXTREMELY generous, it took 1 billion of those 5 to get from the extinction of humanity to the final prayer for humanity. So Phos was literally just vibing for 4,000,000,000 years. After the final evacuation we effectively lose all reference for time. The only hint is Pitapat (Kongo's brother) finally dying out. The thing lasted over 5 billion years as a mess of wires, a lot of it being awash in the ocean, with minimal damage. The only thing that could effectively kill them is likely the literal entropic decay of their vital atoms. We can't even guess how long that is, as they were likely made out of the same "adamantite" Kongo was; which was basically magic. Unless there was a external factor limiting them, Pitapat could have readily lived a few more billion years.
To give further reference: The current estimated age of the universe is ~13.78 billion years. Phos could very well have witnessed the universe double in age by the end. To get even crazier, there actually is some scientific basis of the spontaneous formation of the "perfect crystals" that is heavily implied to be the souls at peace. The "Big Crunch" is a hypothesis that claims the universe will eventually stop expanding and instead start collapsing under its own gravity. For the most part, this wouldn't do much; but after literal billions of years, the constant gravitational pressure would alter how atoms interact with each other. Towards the end of the crunch atoms would start to spontaneously react as if under extreme pressure, crystalizing much like a gem deep in the earth. If we're to take the ending as being scientifically literal, then it is the end of *hundreds of trillions* of years. Don't even try to comprehend that time scale. You can't. And yet, despite all that, Phos found their happiness.

Do you think that the buddist flower concept + houseki’s version of it argues that everyone has their own pocket universe (like a: your perception is reality)? If Pho’s universe has its own flower, maybe all the other rock characters have their own flower universe?
I think the reader is urged to feel something akin to sonder (the awe of realizing that everyone has their own super complex life, perceptions, and experiences).

19:41, I'd rather think that instead of this being a new beginning, a new loop, it's more like Phos doing a retrospect of their own life, seeing every single step of their past, and giving it a cheer, saying to herself that it would and was ok, being literally a shining beacon of hope for herself, bc if it where to be a new beginning, and Phos decided not to choose any of the choices she made, and Aechmea's plan fail, that would be the worst end for the series, every single choice was the worst choice made, yes, but the end of it all, the ultimate goal, was good, was the best one possible, it was a harsh and unforgiving life, but it ended in true happiness, and that's why me personally don't like the idea of a do over

I hope the ex friend I have, who loves Houseki no Kuni, because they relate to Phos. Reads the Manga and sees the ending
One of the things I sympathize with them for, is their... not low self esteem really, but their lack of settled self I guess?
I've lost a lot in my life; homes, pets, belongings, photographs. I've been "reborn", so many times
That right now. I'm content to just be.
But then I look at them, and they've internalized Phos' self er. Hated? Sense of uselessness?
To the point where they've definitely ended friendships (including mine) over things that are relatively simple and honestly things that don't matter?
So for me. I hope they can see the ending, and realize that the suffering isn't about being a useless "loser", or "bad friend".
It's just that life punches you in multiple different ways, and at the end of a rough journey. You've changed, but changed in a way. Where, at least in my case
You're no longer afraid. Of people, things and situations
I'm more willing to ask for help, than I was 10 years ago. 10 years ago me, was someone who did not see the light
    But I do now.
And I hope my ex friend can see the light, and change their negative and pessimistic mindset
