I love the design for GWS, but I think if they went with this mascot they probably would have been called just the Western Sydney Wolves, because it alliterates and generally sounds better.

The GWS branding is ridiculous. Should have always tried to embrace Western Sydney or NSW country / ACT. But GWS doesn't seem to do any of that.

I like the grey port design but that's about it!
The deep maroon and blue fitzroy guernsey is iconic, i wished they wore it more now, should be bears themed for away games out of victoria, and fitzroy for away games in victoria alternating between the gorilla one and the red and yellow ones.

They should wear the blue shorts more often. But I think the gold lion is better than a white FFC and numbers. As I've said before if they lowered the yolk on their jumper and wore blue shorts when there is a clash, then they could wear their preferred jumper design more often. A bit of tinkering with design, shorts and socks, if you combine it correctly, then there is no longer a clash. So win win and teams can wear their main strips more often.
Interested that Millwall FC in England were the Dockers and changed about 60 years ago to the Lions. Now they're starting to embrace the Docker more with former wharfies getting free entry or something. Also a docker club within Millwall etc...
I do think Freo has made a big error moving away from the maritime history. Their logo doesn't have wharfie. No anchor on jumper. They don't train at Fremantle etc... I think Freo need to embrace the Docker again.
More future what ifs... what if teams strips actually included caps like back in the 1800s... more what ifs.... what if teams embraced pastel colours. Something that occurs in soccer with pinks and beige. Often a preferable option than a white jumper.

Port needed to compromise. A pure grey and white one if light enough could have got over the line. But if McGuire thought they were trying to play silly tricks and come up with a darker one, then there would have been conflict before they started.
Fremantle also chose from "Hammers" and "Dolphins"
Doctor was cheekily talked about and Pirates and Mariners. Docker is a good one and sounds catchy like Fremantle Doctor anyway which people are used to talking about in Perth.
Wolves is a sensational idea and the jumper looks great. GWS is a crazy bit of branding and doesn't sell it to Western Sydney really. It could have been just Western Sydney or Sydney ACT or something. Giants needs to be embraced more than Greater!!! since when do people refer to a city with the term Greater.
Possible future videos. How to make the women's jumpers unique. In other words, alternations to the current strip to make the AFLW jumpers and AFL jumpers different. Some clubs like Freo have pink, but others could make changes that could look great on the girls and also actually sell some merchandise for the fans.
I am a Carlton fan, I have been thinking about their clash jumper. I hate it. I think it is possibly the worst in the league. If they insist on having the emblem in the middle white, then they should at least make it fade to blue around the emblem. What if they had the #9ba4c5 (that is the hex code for a greyish light blue) colour at the front of the guernsey, that fades to white on the back and fades to white near the bottom (where it connects to the shorts), then have the white emblem in the middle with the dark blue outline, but the dark blue fades to the greyish light blue? I would draw it up if I knew how to, but I don't. Do you think you could do it?
Carlton seem way too stubborn when it comes to their jumper, a sky blue clash would work perfectly but they refuse to deviate from the navy blue

Fremantle had all kind of weird names like Dolphins Doctors and Pirates. I can't stand Mariner as its not a term that we use. Docker was a good one. Also, it sounds like Fremantle Doctor, that is very well known in Perth as the name of the sea breeze each day in summer. So was immediately catchy. Fremantle's purple was actually going to be lighter again. But club went for dark in 1995 and have since gone a lot darker again.
Some in the media were pushing for Numbats for the West Coast team, but it was never going to happen. Green and gold was considered, but they considered blue was better for merchandise sales. Cometti was pushing hard for it to be called Perth. mind you he was behind the disaster that had West Perth change their nickname from Cardinals to Falcons.
I thought Adelaide was also going to be the Rams. But when AFL was given a choice of Rams or Crows, they wanted Crows. Instead of Camry Crows it could have been the Camry Ramries.
Saints and Bulldogs were possibilities for Brisbane. North and Bulldogs for Sydney. In fact North to everywhere. They could have been the Canberroos. Then to Gold Coast. Then even to Tassie for Tassieroos, with green and white stripes perhaps! Mind you, North also missed out on Ballarat etc...
Fitzroy almost merged with Footscray and then almost with North. And at one time Geelong and North were looking precarious about 20 years ago. It could have been Geelong Roos with diagonal stripes!
What do you think about the new bbl uniforms. I dont like them.
They’re terrible, maybe a BBL redesign video might be in order as we get closer to cricket season
@@mattn1 last years was better. The 2019-2021 were all bland but the previous years were so much better.
