you look totally fine in the helmet!! I always wear full on pads (except elbow pads). I started with a really cheap set and the first time I fell I broke my wrist so now I'm always willing to invest a little more on nice pads. As an upgrade I got the 187 killer pads and their sizing is a bit weird (I measured using their sizing chart and they fit my knee but not my thigh) plus they actually fell apart just a few uses in so I don't trust them for knee pads anymore. I switched to the pro-tec street pads and they're a lot bigger but I can wear them over pants easier and since they're still adjustable I can wear them with shorts or leggings as well. Story time, before I moved I used to go to my cities art museum to skate since they were connected to the local greenway and I actually had some guy coming from an exhibit make fun of me for wearing pads!! I was just like, well I don't want to get hurt! anyway, who cares how you look. I wish I was wearing my big doofy pads when I broke my wrist. would have maybe saved me several hundred dollars and a lot fear about falling.
Thank you! Its been a while since I've had a helmet because I could never find one that fir properly so I am excited to finally have one that will work for me! I've heard some great stuff about Pro-Tec and I'm glad those work for you better than the 187! It does seem like their sizing is weirder than other companies that I have seen but I 187's derby wrist guards. I can't believe that someone would make fun of you for protecting yourself! But go you for not caring what he thought!!
