When Dick Clark decided to not have him on American Bandstand after it was discovered that he married his 14 Year Old Cousin Myra while still married to his Former First Wife, he got blacklisted. Yet he and alot of 1950's Icons saw their Careers go downhill. Some ended up singing for their Supper as Old School Oldies Acts. He held a grudge towards Dick Clark for a long time.
Jerry Lee in an interview yrs later,(it's on youtube) talks about this... He didn't go right away, it was some considerable time later after he was very loaded(drunk)that he got to thinking about Elvis and decided to go... When he left the night club for Graceland with the gun on the dash like you said, he also had a bottle of whiskey/wine or something... When the police showed up he tried to throw the bottle out the passenger window forgetting it was closed and it smashed out the window... He was asked if he was gonna shoot Elvis.. So Jerry being Jerry he naturally replies "Well if that's what you think then I guess so" .. They then arrest him and haul his butt to jail...

Couple of years ago I was playing guitar in a rockabilly band and we got to open for The Killer for his show in Beaumont, Texas. He was about 80, had trouble walking, but once he got to the piano bench he was in his element. Lost nothing in his voice, still played great piano.

I was lucky to catch him back in the day. I seriously thought Jerry Lee was going to destroy the grand piano he was playing. Jerry Lee is always all in on the keys. The only music they made together was as "The Million Dollar Quartet" which consisted of Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins in 1956. These were Sun Records biggest stars at the time. Unfortunately, this music stayed buried in a vault and nearly forgotten until 1981 when it was finally released.
He, Elvis, Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins were all signed with Sun Records at the same time and were known as “The Million Dollar Quartet”. Little Richard is another wild man piano player of the 50s you should check out!

The only music they made together was as "The Million Dollar Quartet" which consisted of Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins in 1956. These were Sun Records biggest stars at the time. Unfortunately, this music stayed buried in a vault and nearly forgotten until 1981 when it was finally released.
