Jerry Lee Lewis was Elvis' competition. Jerry Lee showed up at Elvis' place wanting in and Elvis had Jerry arrested because he was drunk and causing a scene. Jerry never got over that.

Jerry was the biggest Star at Sun Records after Elvis left for RCA. This is actually and Old School Blues Song. However he was notorious for holding a grudge. When Dick Clark decided to not have him on American Bandstand after it was discovered that he married his 14 Year Old Cousin Myra while still married to his Former First Wife, he got blacklisted. Yet he and alot of 1950's Icons saw their Careers go downhill. Some ended up singing for their Supper as Old School Oldies Acts. He held a grudge towards Dick Clark for a long time.

Jerry Lee in an interview yrs later,(it's on youtube) talks about this... He didn't go right away, it was some considerable time later after he was very loaded(drunk)that he got to thinking about Elvis and decided to go... When he left the night club for Graceland with the gun on the dash like you said, he also had a bottle of whiskey/wine or something... When the police showed up he tried to throw the bottle out the passenger window forgetting it was closed and it smashed out the window... He was asked if he was gonna shoot Elvis.. So Jerry being Jerry he naturally replies "Well if that's what you think then I guess so" .. They then arrest him and haul his butt to jail...

Jerry Lee Lewis was first cousins to evangelist Jimmy Swaggart, and Swaggart hated Lewis's music. He kept telling Lewis that he was going to hell because of rock and roll. Finally, Lewis got fed up with it, and after one too many times of Swaggart telling Lewis in front of other people that he was going to hell, Lewis responded, "Well, if I'm going to hell, I'm going there playing the piano!"

This song was released at the "Heyday of Rock N Roll," at a time when there were a few artists that set themselves apart from the many who were talented and popular. Among hose "competitors" competing for the top were: Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Buddy Holly, Carl Perkins (who originally released "Blue Swede Shoes") Gene Vincent (who sounded just like Elvis) and Dion & The Belmonts. All had classic hits.

Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis did record a session of blues, country and spirituals at the Sun Record studios back in the late 1950s with Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash. Together they were called ‘The Million Dollar Quartet’. It was originally just a jam session but the tapes were later released as an album by the Sun Studio some years later. Keep the classics coming Shawn and Mel, enjoying your musical ride back in time . Cheers, 🎸🎤👍🏼

From what they say at SUN Elvis was already at RCA and came by just to say hi. I believe it was Sam who had Johnny Cash called to come over. Jerry and Carl may have already been there but they were just goofing off. If you see the original photo Elvis' girlfriend was sitting on the piano. The commercial Appeal newspaper cropped her out of the photo.

Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley were label mates for a time at Sun Records. When Elvis Presley came back home to Memphis, Tennessee for Christmas in 1956, he stopped by at the Sun Records Studios, and he, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Johnny Cash got together for a photo for the Associated Press, than recorded a few songs together. They were deemed, "The Million Dollar Quartet". The photo is often seen in history school books, and the songs from "The Million Dollar Quartet" are available on CD, under "Elvis Presley" at most record/music stores.

Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis both started out at the same record company, little Sun Records in Memphis. The only music they made together was as "The Million Dollar Quartet" which consisted of Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins in 1956. These were Sun Records biggest stars at the time. Unfortunately, this music stayed buried in a vault and nearly forgotten until 1981 when it was finally released.

Rock and roll pretty much started in 1956-57 and Jerry Lee was about to rocket up when he married his 13-year-old cousin.

Jerry Lee Lewis started out recording keys for a very young Elvis at Sun Studios (Memphis, where Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash got their start, too).

You gotta watch Antonio Sorgentone perform in Italy's Got Talent finals. Plays "Bom Bom". Amazing performance. It was the 2019 winning performance. Found it at Antonio Sorgentone vince IGT 2019.
