- Hey there Walking Dead fans, you’re probably wondering how Morgan obliterates those walkers with such ease, well, there is a true fight science to bo staff. In this video, I am going to teach you the most essential combat bo grips, the strikes to throw from each grip, and how it could actually go down.
No prior experience is required, just grab a broomstick, dowel, pole, rod, branch, walking stick, or bo, and let’s get started! In this lesson, we’ll learn:
• Normal Grip Strikes - 00:30
• Long Grip Strikes - 3:47
• Reverse Grip Strikes - 4:43
• Overhand Grip Strikes - 5:35
If you liked this lesson, you’ll love my bo staff training DVDs, courses, and online University.

Dude A+ for the intro. It didnt seem choreographed at all.
Thanks it wasn't, that was a real zombie!
@@UltimateTraining Curves on Morgan's staff: Are they helpful or do they hamper the staff's use?
@@bonniejeandominguez656 I use a staff that is curved like Morgans and in my experience they are really helpful with grip. Especially when thrusting.
Got it because of Morgan lol don't go anywhere without it.
I always had a staff. 3 sons and they would go in the woods get the best staff's then carve things on it (Cherokee's here)
All 3 of my sons could take a 🦁 on lol. Good luck. Creator only needs u use it for protection only.
You know what it is. 😏
To be honest i never expect that someone he will make video like this about Morgan skill :)
Wael I was looking for similar videos.. But got a real video about it
Dude your form is perfect. Your training shows. It may look easy to someone who has never tried it before, but as soon as an amateur picks up a staff he's going to see just how much more skilled you are. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise. I had been looking for a while for someone to make a video like this
Thanks. My form isn't perfect, but yes, real skill can be developed from several years of focused practice.
Dude's a black belt.
Morgan don`t use a BO, use a JO...;)
A Jo is 4 feet a bo is 5 or 6 feet
I have a red oak hardwood staff just like that.
Actually, Morgan and Eastman practiced Aikido (said in the origin episode), where you are trained in Ko Stick, which is a short version of a Bo. I’ve been taking Aikido for a couple months now, my senses made this very clear 😁. Bo staffs are about 5 to 6 feet long, as Kos are about 3 to 4 feet.
Good tutorial. You have some valid points. If I may make some points as well. When dealing with real people, if they want to block a strike with a solid weapon, that works to your advantage because any part of the body can be ruptured or broken. Filipino Martial Arts actually encourages to strike the hands which is called "Defanging the Snake" Also, an uppercut motion is actually deceptive because the human eye has difficulty seeing things coming upwards instead of side-to-side (peripheral). However, I do like the concept of using a staff as a weapon because it's an all purpose weapon that can be adjusted, customized and adapted to the many forms of staff/cudgel martial arts of the world. Awesome Video!
Very interactive zombie
I really like your down to earth way of explaining things. it's clean and simple to understand. I really consider buying your DVD course about Bo staff training. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the compliment, I appreciate that. The DVD course is really in-depth, and comprehensive, it would make a great Christmas present for yourself. ;)
Try portuguese stickfighting!
Awesome video! When the zombie apocolypse happens, I'm joining your group dude! :D
You might want to join now, so that you're already prepared, it takes more than a day to master this stuff. ;) Thanks for watching.
Erin Delic hi
UltimateTraining you know that even if a zombie apocalypse were to happen the walking dead zombies would not be affected by any of these unless you do it 20 something times. Not a mean or angry comment just feedback, have a nice day :)
MJBJ93 The stick wasn’t sharpened for safety in the video
sorry i’m late
I go for balls, trachea, vagus nerve then leg sweeps.
Sherrick Duncan ha
Zombies do not feel pain, so you have to inapacitate them. So you can do all the flashy cool moves you see in shaplin kungfu (also because zombies are stupid so carefree strikes are viable)
anyone know if the ceder walking stick used by morgan on screen would really be good for self defense or just to be used as a walking stick?
We need to appreciate the zombie actor
I believe that is not a bo but a jo. The end of a jo is under the shoulder, and a bo is above it.
Indeed
Muy bueno!
I'm actually here for the real training...so what about the problem of getting contaminated with all the bodily fluids we knock around with those hits? Last thing we want is a zombies blood splashing into our eyes, mouth or open cuts in the skin. Throwing dirt into their eyes may blind them as well. Check out my channel for a rare style of Jo fighting from Japan.
I did it myself with the Woodglut plans. I think this is the best way to find out how to build it.
A liver strike 😂
Why don't say what it is? A strike to the nuts!
A liver strike 😂
Why don't say what it is? A strike to the nuts!
That zombie is bloody gutsy.
Thanks, I will use this to practice with my Jo.
only in America
Morgan uses a broom stick. Seriously!
no he doesn't. He uses a ceder wood staff hand-made by his Aikido friend.
that's zombie looks like not hungry
Finally someone from 2020
Amazing 🙂
THANKS MAN!!!
You can improve a lot if you learn portuguese stickfighting ..." Jogo do pau" ...check it!
You forgot about Morgan's stick fight skills in season 6 ep.2 tittle:JSS
Thanks!
There is another hand position for wheeling the staff And that is both palms down
Lol, this brightens up my day. I bought a brazo walking stick, rather than a cane to help me with my balance, and i hear people mumbling: why does he have a walking stick?
Luv how the zombie shuffles back into the forest... die to fight another day!
Useless
Wow ! Thanx for the tutorial! But what do I need to do if someone holds the staff at the Overhand grip strike?
I have one 😁 I googled Morgan's staff and it brought me here, cheers for the lesson 👍 guna need all the help we can get at this point in time ✌ good luck everyone
Wow is that Dog in the bg??! He got blacker! 0:30
Could you make some more videos on this? Same like Morgan skills?
i am looking for this, thanks!
A staff is not really an efficient weapon to kill zombies
But morgan killed them. zombies have weak bones.
@@youarelife3437 bones dont decay that quickly if they were to a zombie wouldnt be able to walk let alone bite you. You’re better of with a blade
@@RealisticBatman Though you are correct but I am referring to the walking dead zombies here who easily break their bones (the virus decays them fast) and yes they often cant walk properly and get themselves into accidents and shit all the time.
What we call this sport
your 4 point strike is inspired from the walking dead right?
lmao that intro
what staff is that in the intro?
HIIII SENSI can u guess who I am
hi im 6'2 what size staff would you recommend for someone of my height?
Its really relative, a 5'10 would probably work
Rickety cricket!
I have a Jo staff for self defense
Now in 2020 is a good time for this video,
Wowowow someone from 2020
jaja nice tecnics
If someone tried to stab at me with a staff I'd step sideways and grab it. In combat your better off going for full swings and break arms legs or head. The staff would beat a sword if used with extreme force.
You wouldnt see it coming dude LOL You THINK you would step out of the way!
