Have you ever tried a Bosu Ball workout as a means of surfing 🏄🏽♂️ practice? If so let me know, how you liked or didn't like it 👇🏽 What are our favorite "non-surfing" surfing workout routines?
Hey Greg, yes I really enjoy the Bosu ball practice a lot as well. Haha nice that you noticed my tatami, I’m a big Japan Enthusiast through my teenage fighting days for the German karate national team :) I love having it around.
@@ChrisGenau I definitely saw you do some bosu work that I haven't done before, so might give those a try! Have you had a chance to visit Japan? I hope to get over there, take in a sumo tournament, kabuki play and maybe try a bit of surfing, hear there's some good waves off Chiba Prefecture... I think it would make a nice trip!
Wow, that sounds like a nice itinerary - just having Kabuki in there tells me you know a thing or two about Japan as well ;) yes I've been to Japan once in 2017, Sydney when I couldn't go back to Bali as planned, as this was the time when the volcano was so active they canceled a lot of flights, so I got a cheap flight to Japan. Spent 17 days there and went from the south Kagoshima all the way up to Tokyo, visited Himeji, Osaka, Kyoto and a few other smaller cities in between. Surfing in Chiba is supposed to be pretty good in the right season, but I didn't go, as I was running out of time. I did surf 4 days in Myazaki though in Kyushuu. Do you live in Australia?
@@ChrisGenau Haha, yeah if it all goes well, it should be enjoyable. But as you well know with your unplanned visit to Sydney, not every trip does! Still, sounds like you had quite an experience!! Japan for me started back in 2007-08 getting a couple of Japanese tv stations, became a fan of the history and culture. After all this time, hope to get over this year, early next and will look to add Miyazaki to the schedule if surfing seems good at the time. Don't live in Australia, but Southern California.
Honestly I think the Bosu ball is good enough. This is already a difference from surfing, it’s only trying to use similar movement patterns. You won’t ever be able to fully mimic anything. So to my mind, anything on top is more of a gimmick :)
Thanks for the review. I've only been surfing for a year and just transitioned off a foamie to my first hardboard (7ft) - I was looking at this program and cardboard surfer as the best options to improve my surfing even at this early stage as it's hard to do it just in the water. What do you think? Would you recommend one over the other, or could I do them simultaneously? Are they too advanced for me?
Hi Arun, well they're definitely not too advanced for you, as I think these programs were developed with just the level of surfer you are in mind =) If I was you I would start with just the cardboard surfer, and then if you like the teaching style of Clayton to go for the full program as it will build upon each other =) Maybe the guys from @ombesurf can elaborate on that themselves =) Any other questions you might have - feel free to ask I'm here to help you out 🤙🏼
Good eye ;) that’s my balance board, and it’s just put on top. The rubber surface of the Bosu ball seems to be grippy enough for it to stay in place. I did that to get a little wider stance, so it feels more natural 🤙🏽
@@ChrisGenau Kool..I might try that..I saw one video of a dude doing 180 turns/carves on a bosu..Probably be risky with a balance board on top but do you think that would be a feasible thing to do?
@@middleagedshred in my case that would pretty hard to do as the material of the ball is super sticky on our wooden floor. Could you send me that video? These kind of things sound like it’s getting too far away from surfing and might be better to practice on a surfskate - but I might be wrong so looking at it would be amazing. Would have a link to that clip?
@@ChrisGenau ruclips.net/video/d6ANgB2rrVg/видео.html his comments are disabled so I imagine he got a lot of trolling..I was thinking of a piece of cardboard under the bosu to help it slide and prevent dammage to the ball..takes the cardboard surfer program to a new level..) yea surfskate for the win but if its wet outside mabey its an option..
@@middleagedshred yeah unfortunately it is exactly what I expected it to be, he basically lifts up and then turns almost as if doing an squat jump with a 180 no weight on the front foot swinging that back leg through like you would on a radical 180 snap. It is however a nice balance drill, but he also always falls off afterwards :D so I think this won't do anything for surfing technique. But the idea of putting a piece of cardboard under a Bosu ball and then try a cardboard slide might be something. Will try and do that when I get back home next week and put it in my instagram story :D if you want to, find me on instagram @nosupermanchris - it's easier to chat there and exchange clips in the future :)
Hey there I’m in Germany and just got on Amazon. Took the cheapest one that looked like quality and ended up paying 50 euros. The brand was called „Z Zelus“
Well my friend, if you watched the video - you would've noticed that this is a review video for the Ombe Bosu surfer program. By the way, Clayton gave me access to Ombe for free so I could do exactly those kind of videos ;) In the very beginning in the intro Ombe is already mentioned - sorry if you were somehow misleaded. I've also written a lot about Ombe on my blog

@@adriabsolute8643 I think it is a great way of getting a feeling how your movements affect the board
Nice enjoyed the video bro🤙🏽
I really appreciate your words, thank you very much!! 🤙🏽
I picked up a bosu mid-Feb to start practicing. Only doing squats (surf stance), twists and lunges. It's a lot of fun to use!
And nice tatami mat!

thanks for the vid, other surf trainers have a board and a complete ball, is this necessary? or the bosu ball is good enough?

what is your bosu ball size?
