Soothsayer is a real emotional one for Buckethead, it's dedicated to his late Aunt Suzie who actually bought him and gave him his first guitar aged 12. When she passed, he wrote Soothsayer for her as a means to tribute her and thank her for setting him on his life's path.

Just FYI, from Wikipedia: "Buckethead has released 30 regular solo albums, as well as 294 albums in the "Pikes Series", for 325 albums overall." The guy has been a machine when it comes to making music. Many of his songs are in this legato style, with the interspersed shredding. It's definitely music for a mood. I like listening to it at work. Since it is instrumental, it doesn't affect my ability to read and write reports.

He's got about 400 albums (yes, albums!) and his music spans everything from metal to easy listening and just about anything in between. Buckethead is one of the most skilled guitarists to ever live, he's entertaining in general but if you've ever played guitar or any other instrument, you really get blown away extra by how clean his playing is. Dude is playing with high gain so mistakes will be way more noticeable, and he's playing in the dark with a mask on and he still kills it, what a legend.

I'm more of a jazz fusion player, and never thought I'd see a guitar 'god' again to be fair. Shawn Lane and Allan Holdsworth made me want to quit, Pat Metheney's harmonic knowledge and skill is truly sublime and scares me to this day, George Benson can groove like a demon, but Buckethead is such a fascinating guy with unbelievable skills and has the added 'cool' factor [which totally came about by accident], so I guess I was wrong. Buckethead. The Last Guitar Hero.

You guys just found enough music to last the rest of your life LOL! He covers all kinds of genres even hip hop, he LOVES Wu Tang Clan! He is my favorite guitarists of all time. As a guitar player, its always reassuring when a non-player audience is so impressed with something before it even gets to the solo like when you guys were at 2 mins. We're always in so much awe of eachother and over critical of ourselves that we forget that just strumming a few melodic notes can be impressive to people.
Glad you guys enjoyed that. Buckethead is a legend and carved his own lane in the game.

Some of the most beautiful playing is slow. It's art, not athletics. Nice to be able to let rip sometimes though, but to be able to do it so effortlessly, and with passion, takes more work than most people are prepared to put in. I've done my 10,000 hours [and I'm pretty agile] but I'm not even close. Then again who is? Enjoy him while you can. He has heart problems as a result of the intense anxiety he suffers. He's had 2 heart operations already. 😪

Buckethead is a legit artist, he has a real name obviously but Buckethead is the character he created over 30 years ago and has created a whole lore around the character. He's never been interested in fame or fortune and damn near invented the style that he's been rocking for decades and his catalogue of over 50 albums spans a wide variety of musical genres, which he makes basically all by himself. The dude is a prodigy and plays the guitar like he breathes air. Probably one of the greatest, most unique musicians to ever touch a guitar, even if the music isn't for everyone 👍
Check out "Nottingham Lace" "Jordan" or my personal favourite "Buckethead - the early years" which is one of the earliest videos of him in 1991 playing in the backyard to his friends and family!
    Much love, keep it up!
edit: He played for Guns n Roses on one tour when Axl Rose was running the band iirc. Eddie Van Halen was also a big influence of Buckethead obviously, being one of the og 80s tap guitarists

I'm legit convinced that his guitar is just a second half of him. Listening to his Pike albums and normal albums all together, it seems like he just spends his time in some cave just playing constantly, his work ethic is legitimately insane.
He once turned down an offer to work with Ozzy Osbourne because Ozzy wanted him to take the bucket off.

If you ever read Ozzy's memoirs, I Am Ozzy, he mentions this briefly and hilariously. Something along the lines of "I asked him to take the bucket off, then when I came back he'd taken off the bucket and put on a fucking green martian's hat! He plays like a motherfucker, though."

Some of the live performances with Les Claypool are pure gold, such as Col. Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains. There is a clip called Buckethead Dueling Banjos which is really Buckethead doing freestyle bluegrass on a Flying V. He's the grandmaster.

The guy is really amazing, even though he does a lot of very fast, albeit unique, solos. If he starts touring again, and he ever goes through your area, you wouldn't be disappointed if you went to one of his shows.

Cartier Family, I like hanging out with you cats! That's what watching your videos feels like, just hanging out. Buckethead is a genius-level artist with a HUGE catalog of studio and live albums, the total count stands at well over 300 albums at the time of this writing.
I've got to hip you guys to another genius-level guitarist - Eric Gales. He's a left-handed player, but unlike 99% of left handers who either play a left-handed guitar or string a right-handed guitar upside down (like Hendrix did), Gales plays a right-handed guitar upside down. If you like Stevie Ray Vaughan, you'll like this dude. Anything live clip you find will be great, but I strongly recommend the "Voodoo Child/Kashmir/Back In Black Medley".

To be fair he's a fucking fantastic, nay incredible guitar player. He appears strange because he suffers from severe anxiety, so does his best to hide it. The bucket is a joke, but the mask isn't.

I was lucky enough to see him live. Dude blew my mind from the beginning to the end. He replaced slash for one album in guns and roses. The dude was anonymous for years until he replaced slash. If you ever get the chance to see him live please do not pass up the opportunity.
