what makes the weld strong between the 5160 and mild tube?

The way I beveled the back of the bit ensured that the weld penetrated thoroughly into the bit itself and the mild steel tube. With the process of welding, both the pieces of steel are being melted together, with additional filler metal added in. The weld itself is an alloy between 5160 and mild steel, as it is melted together in that area. The key part is to anneal the bit to relieve any stresses in the weld. Great question thanks
