Thanks for your video. I fish Lake Macquarie NSW and was wondering about salting Pilchards as I have been washing the salt off then freezing the bait . Please tell me would you leave the salt on the Pilchard to maintain all the smell
I have seen Hey Skipper channel about their own handmade salt bait that they actually sell but do you know what kind of salt is that? Like what is a good salt to use for this bait that the salt don't actually melt if you put them in a plastic bag/ container?
you all down there might not do this.. but... laundry bluing solution helps toughen bait too.. something else to work with, another tool in the belt...
Salting I reckon is the best way to save money when you're using baits. 10 bucks or so for 25kg of salt from bunnings and you can reuse pillys over and over again.
Great vid back to the Tuffy put the floor carpet and bilge in took it out a days fishing really tested the floor hooked a 10kg bull shark Iam all over the boat it’s a different boat 100% better and safer l can leave the fuel tank in while travelling without it sliding all over the place do me a favour put a floor in a Tuffy and make a video on the test run you’ll be amazed
@@On-PointAdventureswhat's the longest you've had them in the bags unfrozen before you used them? I'm very curious how long they would last sealed and unrefrigerated.
3:13 that is a smart dog
😁😂😂😂
another great video , well done

What's your thoughts on salting mullies? I find it helps them stay on the hook a LOT longer
I love it, i dont salt them for as long as thicker baits, maybe 8 hours is about right
Nice vid as always mate. I am wondering if those frozen pilchard in bait shops are salted or brined or what?
Generally fresh frozen.
Good man for mentioning non-iodised salt.
What's wrong with iodised salt.
Thanks for the awesome vid👏
Glad you enjoyed it

Exactly right, also a great way to tuffen up fragile baits.
The salt can be reused to salt more bait. This method great with prawns and clams too.
Some months more and we see the dog doing these videos😁
Great video
Thanks very much mate
Are all of the pool salt none idolised? Having hard time looking for none idolised salt as it is not mentioned on the package. Thanks
Usually yes, bunnings is a great place to look
Whats the name of the knife company
Sicut
after you vacum all the air from the bag can you freeze them?
Certainly can mate
You can, but why would you?
Well if you don;t mind, can I ask what is that tool that you use to suck out air from the plastic bag? And where can I get it?
It's a Dometic vacuum sealer, but you can use any brand of vacuum sealer
@at2214thank you! also what kind of salt?
Fantastic info thanks for this! How long would this last at 1- room temp, 2- refrigerated & 3- if you froze it & thawed would it still be good?
Does this still work with pilchards?
Sure does
What type of salt do you use?
Hi Nestor. Standard pool salt usually.
Do you need to brush the excess salt off
No, I leave the salt on
👍
Did u put a bed of salt on the bottom of the tub first

Will have to look into it when the new one arrives
Do the fish mind?
In some circumstances I have found they prefer it
interesting thanks@@On-PointAdventures
Hi can you re-use the salt over again
Hi Stuart, we have found twice is fine, however for how cheap salt is the fresher the better.
@@On-PointAdventures thanks for the info
Tight lines 🎣
Why doesnt it work with Idonized salt?
Great question and one I can’t answer. When I did a comparison I would never get a sniff on iodised
For how long do they last in those bags? Thanks mate, great video by the way
Bloody long time to be honest, but never really tested the full life span
Thanks for your reply.

Good stuff, first
🤣
Legend!
DO YOU REUSE THE POOL SALT AFTER SALTING THE FILLETS
Maybe once, however it is that cheap i usually use fresh every time
Will this work with Large pieces ... or a whole fish
Sure does, just longer curing time.
Leave them out in the sun for a while and they will smell even better
Haha might pass
