I purchased a dual-cassette old-school boom box for $20, just to use the radio when working on my cars in the garage. There was eight $100 bills inside the battery compartment, somebody was using it as a stash spot and the Goodwill people didnt find it obviously. A rare situation but incredible nonetheless.

There is usually one little shelf in the left rear of the stores with a few small junky electronics, if any. It's unbelievable to see what are at the stores in this video, as well as so many others.
This video is jam packed with a ridiculous amount of value. I'm blown away, I should be sleeping right now. The fact that this has under 100k views is stupid. Stupid.
Watching these videos and what you are showing interest in is mind boggling...had no idea I could buy and then sell them...and now I know why I constantly see people scanning the books....this is a whole new world for me!!!
Awesome score man thank you for your time and advise. I took your advise about making contacts and scored at my gw outlet picked up 37 DVD VHS combos for $1 to 50 cent each. Thank you for the awesome content stay great
I'd take the rain over my 0 degree high temp and -25 degree wind chills right now! One thing about remotes, I do still sometimes pick up name brand remotes if I notice that they go to units that sell for a lot of money, just in case I ever find that particular unit and I can then add the remote to get more money. Only if they are $1-$2 though. I found a Bose remote at the bins once for $1 that I sold by itself for over $60! Love the sourcing videos, I hope you guys do more of them!
I’ve been hitting the Goodwill & Salvation Army electronics section for years now. My home audio collection is incredible! As is my car amplifier collection.
In all the time I've been shopping Goodwill, I've NEVER found one piece of car audio gear. Someone at my store probably swipes it all before a single customer can buy it.
Hi there! Thanks for these videos! I caught the bug and went to Goodwill and purchased $56 worth of old electronics and listed them on eBay last night. I woke up with a strong feeling to return it all and this was all a mistake and a min later I got my first sale! A broken camcorder with all the accessories listed for parts and as is. I’m so excited and wanted to send y’all gratitude 🤗
Chaz! I dont think Ive ever commented on one of your videos... for me this reselling journey, although very new, has been very fast paced as in so much has happened in so little time. So I'm going to be honest, I haven't been watching your videos as much as before because of being so concentrated and dedicated. I really just wanted to THANK YOU because you were one of the first people to inspire me to start, and to break things down so clear to understand. I'm nowhere near where I WILL be yet but people like you, Shane, Scott, etc. etc. (the list can go on forever lol) have got me going with no signs of stopping!!! I hope I get the chance to meet you one day, so I can shake your hand and thank you in person. So yeah... this comment should make up for all the comments I didnt post in the past Hahaha take care brother
Think I did ok. Just got a pair of these under armour shoes for $24. On eBay they are listed at being sold from $60-$100. After the fees. I could profit around $20. Got a juicy couture bag also with $110 original price tag on it for $33. Also got a pair of UA cleats, clearance at $21 and being sold for around $60 on eBay. Possible $20 profit. Lastly found a Disney beanie for $8. Selling for around $20-$25 on eBay. Small profit but I followed ur strategy and will see if this works!
I don't understand why people don't just go into their local GW and buy the VCR for $5 instead of paying 10 times that much and waiting for it to ship through Ebay. Crazy. GREAT video fellow Oregonians. I love how you're so into numbers - even down to how many minutes you spend per store!
I suggest bring a Tape with you. On 90% of VCR'S if the tape goes in and starts playing "AND DOESN'T CUT OFF AND SPIT OUT THE TAPE" You are GOOD TO GO !!!! And NO you don't need to hook to the tv.
Timothy Thomas my thoughts exactly. No need to bring a tape with, though. Most every Goodwill has loads of VHS tapes for sale. Some even have good resale value.
Learned so much. Definity one of the best video tutorials! Really appreciate the reality of fees, hey 20$ is 20$. But if you constantly make a 20$ profit, it adds up nicely.
I feel like back in the day people almost always called them VCRs. But nowadays they are referred to as VHS Players. There has clearly been a shift in nomenclature.
Where you live also is a major factor as to what you find. The northeast of America is one of the best places to find older electronics/ Videogames. In other places, not so much. It varies.
Awesome! I'm only just trying to get my foot in the game this month, and I'm learning a lot from watching your videos. There's a Goodwill that I can walk to within 5 minutes.
How's it going so far? I'm considering this myself for a side hustle. Unfortunately, my nearest one is about an hour away. But I will make that drive if I can turn a profit for my family.
@@adamsloan9616 I've made about $14 after fees and such. Learning a lot about what sorta sells, how to package and ship, things like that. It's fun sometimes, but at times, I get a little anxious as well. I haven't been too often as I don't have the funds to keep going in and out.
Thank you. Before I watched this video, I watched my first vid on how to sell on Ebay, the guy pushed a way to make money 'passive', as in 'stay home'. I pressed the link, damn, it was click bait to purchase lessons on selling 'high ticket' items aka 'clikbait'. Thank you for not doing that. I will watch the results video and if you don't try to sell me then I will subscribe. I am an older retired guy but have tons of time on my hands, so I could do what you just showed and lots of places to buy stuff where I live. I am a newbie and hope you give lessons on how to start up with Ebay, get an account and best way to advertise products. I see on the side you have a video on how to pack electronics. This is great. Again, you seem honest and helpful, I am so sick of variations on sales pitches, I know it's all crap. So cheers to you and this is my first lesson. I will let you know when I purchase a few items and get started, just to thank you. Great lesson. Cheers to both of you and again thanks for being honest and frank about costs. Hope all your videos are this informative.

Found Authentic Gucci scarf in the Bins in my Area few weeks back and was a bin that I saw several people go through before me was Red Green and Black so stood out long story my best find so far cost me 65 cents and sold on Posh for $115 after fees shipping made 85.00 was listed only 36 hr thank you guys got me started!
Goodwill is now scanning books in the backroom before they go out onto the floor and not putting valuable books out for sale. Instead they get sent to a main warehouse to be sold online for more money.
I'm guessing with living in Oregon where it rains most the time during the year that you're going to see more movie watching electronics there than most Goodwill's across the US.
I love the fact you guys say to get out in the field. People think that they can’t do it but they sit down and only watch people do it and say they are lucky. It’s not luck it’s guts.

Sourcing is the biggest challenge for me. I found this to be extremely helpful, especially breaking down the cog, shipping and fees. Please do more of this!!Thank you
Love your content! Do you have any videos of how you ship your items? Especially the VHS or heavier electronics? My biggest holdup with these types of items is that it’s a pain to ship. Any tips on that?
USPS will do free pickup at your house when they deliver your mail if you leave it out. Just reuse boxes and supplies from stuff you buy online to ship it out in. I refuse to go to the post office because their hours suck.
I would have picked up the Panasonic vcrs at 21:05 simply because 4 and 6 heads sell faster. Got one the other day for $7 and flipped for $35 with buyer paying for shipping. Less than a week.
This is a great video and you have covered a lot, but would you please advise us on how many of those VHS units you buy and then bring home and find out are non-functional and need to be repaired?
Great video! I would love to see a follow thru video on actually checking the items for working condition, sourcing hookups/remotes if you do, and your packaging style. Electronics make me cringe.
I have learned to specialize in VCRs as resale items. I find them ALL of the time at thrift stores - Goodwill, Salvation Army, Value Village (higher at VV), and others. The DVD/VCR combos sell for $10 - $15.00, usually.. The VCRs can sell anywhere from $3.99 - $5.99 at the Goodwill. I purchased a Symponic flat screen TV (a small one) from Goodwill for a mere $10.00. I have a table set up with with the TV, with the video/stereo cables already plugged in to it (red, yellow, white). I plug in the VCR, load up a VHS tape (usually 80s), and play the entire movie from start to finish. This assures me the VCR doesn't screw up after running for a while. I then take pics with the movie playing on the TV, with the VCR, showing the buyers that it runs fine. I prefer to buy VCRs from Goodwill, because they have a 7 day return policy for in-store credit. Other places don't take them back. If they come with a remote, you can ALWAYS get more for them - especially if it is the original remote. When I find remotes in thrift stores that look like they go with a VHS players (the remotes usually have a button for VHS), I buy them and hold on to them. The remotes usually sell for like $2.00. So, if I ever find a VCR without a remote, I *might* have a remote that goes with it - so I can get more money for it. When I sell the VCRs, I sweeten the deal by including a video/stereo cable, a brand new VHS, and a remote (if it comes with one). This always seems to get me more money for it. If you sell just a VCR with no cables, or any accessories, it won't net you as much. The shipping that the Side Hustle Pros estimated is about right. I usually charge about $15.00 for the shipping, myself. It is VERY important to pack VCRs with care, and lots of packing material inside. I wrap them in bubble wrap, and I then use pieces of cardboard to enclose it. Then I put it inside of a box that has styrofoam walls inside, and then fill the box with packing peanuts. Write "VERY FRAGILE" on every side of the box!!!
Sturm Reiter - Thanks for all that great info. I have a personal VCR with remote that I plan to list on eBay. I know it works. But I also have a couple I picked up at Goodwill. I was not able to test them. But I may figure something out. All the other info I can use. You sell a VCR with the red/yellow/white cables along with it? And maybe a remote? I could throw in an old VHS movie. I have picked up remotes at Goodwill in the past and sold them on eBay.
@@geezermann7865 yes.. that would be the red/yellow/white cables. I always pick them up when I see them at thrifts... usually they cost 99 cents to $1.99. I hord them so I never run out. I just store them in an old box... same thing with remotes I find that have a brand name and a button that says VCR. Means they go with some VCR somewhere... i find VHS blank tapes often at thrifts... the bricks.. come like 6 to 8 in a pack.. if you never see them, you can find people selling them on Ebay.
HeatingDonkey 31 wow. Sweet deal. Around me they do 50% off every other weekend. There’s usually a deal to do with tag colors, but not as good as that.
Great video! I like that you said to go to Goodwills first and get some experience before garage sales. I went to a garage sale yesterday and it’s very intimidating looking these people in the eye and trying to lower price. Yesterday I paid 10 dollars for an item worth 10 dollars because the guy was in a wheelchair. Thanks for the video
Love videos like this! Also check out pirate ship for shipping vhs/dvd. I’ve gotten my cost down to $9 for some units simply but packing it as normal, bubble wrap and in a box, and then putting it in a XL poly mailer.
I love this! I live in Oregon and am trying my hand at ebay. I've been selling things online for years, but usually stuff I just had laying around. Never had to source anything before, so I love the example. Especially in my state. Thank you!
lol, you realize that first VCR you looked at that you said didn't have the model # on the front had the model # on the front, right? btw thanks for the vid! also Haul 1 = awesome. Waiting for the results and Haul #2 video.
Electronics are my favorite category but I know almost nothing about them. I can literally spend 30-45+ minutes standing in the electronics section looking up every model number. I’ve become more and more comfortable speninding up to $15 on an item that will flip for $50+ because the roi is so much better. Also I find higher priced items usually sell faster. It’s a win win for me.
One thing you should always check with comps is the DATE IT SOLD. If there's a ton of current listings and the comp dates are all over and none in the last week, you're more then likely gonna be sitting on it a long time. So go with stuff that has pretty recent sales
Thanks for telling the truth in this video and giving a realistic description and demonstration of what it really takes to get started and to keep going.
Dang! I wish my city had that many VCR's at goodwills! What I do, is if the VCR is cheap enough, I buy it no matter what and hoard. You have to remember they are no longer made. Only if you have the room of course. BTW see that air cleaner in the background 👍 #electronicdealer
Yes! Electronics are one of my best sellers. Been to a few Goodwills, and this video helped me tremendously on configuring my profit on an item. Look forward to future Videos!
Hey Sean. Personally I like to go Mon/Tue because the 50% off tag changes colors on Sundays. Plus I think a lot of people are donating stuff after the weekend is over so around here I find fresh stuff on Mondays typically.
You also have to take in shipping cost as well I've sent stuff away for pretty much free because the shipping ended up being too much. I now only ship small stuff out now.
Nice video as always! I just want to say that many times I find electronics items all over the Goodwill store that someone has obviously put in their cart to look up and when they found out that it was not a good flip just dumped it in some other part of the store. C'mon guys, this community is better than that and we should respect the sources that allow us to make a living doing reselling. It's just a poor reflection on our community. I realize that these culprits are the exception but I just wanted to direct this at some of the folks that may be new or have not thought about how hard the people at Goodwill work trying to keep the stores shoppable. That is all.
Summer Of Sam Summer Of Sam I see Stanton and other new-ish turntables from time to time, but like this one they’re always overpriced. I didn’t even have to look that up. Second I saw it in the video I was thinking “$20 tops, anything more, pass”
Dude your videos are so informative. I have been binging on many reseller video's lately and yours have some really good tips. Especially the way you calculate your profit on beforehand, it's just a nice insight. Thanks
In the Chicago-land area all these discount used stores have garbage. I have a method of sourcing goods that is way more profitable. A) Be a pain in the as# with negotiation at Estate Sales with people who don't know what they are selling. B) Offer free electronic waste collection to friends and Co Workers. Just recently an old friend dropped me a win 98 Dell desktop that I threw on ebay for 100$ after giving it a new drive and a fresh install of Win98SE. At an estate sale I bought a complete IBM ps1 model 2011 bundle for 40$ with a bad PSU. Fixed a capacitor and sold it on ebay for 500$. Another time I was at a garage sale and told the guy that I recycle and collect old computers. He gave me a mint Power Macintosh g3 beige without the hard drive. Put in a new drive, loaded OSX 10.2.3, boom, 120$ on ebay. I have a lot more of this stuff and my whole basement is piled with spare PSUs, Hard disks, Mac / Windows software, and general computers/phones I need to sell. A great way for me to make extra $$$ in college. Screw thrift stores they are overpriced and roughly handle everything. I bought a Dell Dimension for 5$ once from one and the capacitors on the board were leaking. I also witnessed workers throwing old computers into piles in the backroom. Not worth it. Estate/Garage sales are where it is at for non-abused machines. PS: You can sell anything, and I mean anything. I recently sold two ruined 1997 laptops for parts. Usually I'll also sell old broken cellphones in large bulks too on ebay. Even more $$ and these bulk ewaste collections are my most liquid assets.

I live in the Northeast and there is nothing like this within hundreds of miles of me. At the Goodwill stores near me, all you will see are clothes and maybe some housewares junk.
Thank you for the awesome content stay great
Punch's Resales did any sell
I'd take the rain over my 0 degree high temp and -25 degree wind chills right now! One thing about remotes, I do still sometimes pick up name brand remotes if I notice that they go to units that sell for a lot of money, just in case I ever find that particular unit and I can then add the remote to get more money. Only if they are $1-$2 though. I found a Bose remote at the bins once for $1 that I sold by itself for over $60! Love the sourcing videos, I hope you guys do more of them!
Holy crap- THANK YOU for showing me how to do the basics! Filtering to “sold” and doing the math w/ graphics, etc was wonderful. Much appreciated🤘
I’ve been hitting the Goodwill & Salvation Army electronics section for years now. My home audio collection is incredible! As is my car amplifier collection.
Mine too. I hardly ever get around to selling anything, though.
In all the time I've been shopping Goodwill, I've NEVER found one piece of car audio gear. Someone at my store probably swipes it all before a single customer can buy it.
Yes! Please do more videos like this! Helps me with the searching process
This is more the type of video I've been looking for, great job, been watching bearded picker and shain, keep up the good work! ;)
I don't understand why people don't just go into their local GW and buy the VCR for $5 instead of paying 10 times that much and waiting for it to ship through Ebay. Crazy. GREAT video fellow Oregonians. I love how you're so into numbers - even down to how many minutes you spend per store!
This might come as a surprise... But not every town has a goodwill
Jotting that down in my notes. Thank you.
It's a VCR. Always will be.
That’s because youngsters don’t realize they’re called VCRs.
Who tf calls it a vhs player 😂😂 im 20...
IceBetweenEyeliner the guy in this video, for one
Been a shift in a lot of things, but not for the better 😕
Where you live also is a major factor as to what you find. The northeast of America is one of the best places to find older electronics/ Videogames. In other places, not so much. It varies.
Awesome! I'm only just trying to get my foot in the game this month, and I'm learning a lot from watching your videos. There's a Goodwill that I can walk to within 5 minutes.
Awesome! Go in there everyday for 30 days and report back.
@@BettyVan Awesome! Thanks for the update!
I was literally screaming at my phone for you to buy that adidas water bottle. Anything with the trefoil logo sells
What’s trefoil ?
@@jeffonspikes5567 Google says this... The trefoil was the second Adidas logo. The theme of three stripes is still evident in the look, both in the leave that shoot out from the logo, and the three stripes that cross it diagonally. ... This logo is still used on some of their products, particularly their line of classic products.
agree! bought a pair of jogging pants with the trefoil at a St. Vinny's for $2 and sold it for $45.
I'm glad you mentioned the sporting goods. I've always had good luck with tennis, golf and baseball equipment.
Keep up the great content guys! I could watch thrifting videos all day!
Goodwill is now scanning books in the backroom before they go out onto the floor and not putting valuable books out for sale. Instead they get sent to a main warehouse to be sold online for more money.
Electronics has always been my thing since I was a kid. I haven't sold anything on Ebay before but I'm willing to give it a shot.
I'm guessing with living in Oregon where it rains most the time during the year that you're going to see more movie watching electronics there than most Goodwill's across the US.
This is the most honest ebay reselling video I have seen yet.
Something I look for at goodwills is power adapters. They sell for like $1 and I can sell them for 8 - 25 dollars
Such gold in some of them! Spaced to add those to this video
I love the fact you guys say to get out in the field. People think that they can’t do it but they sit down and only watch people do it and say they are lucky. It’s not luck it’s guts.
I buy VCR and will order remote from eBay if it ups the sale price
fat man picker I stockpile old remotes when I can get them for next to nothing. I often already have a compatible remove at home waiting for devices I pick up.
Subbed.totally appreciate you guys.my girl and I have a toddler and we are starting our own arbitrage biz in our area and I appreciate channels like yours, offering FREE advice without an upsell. Kudos to you for paying it forward
you missed that TEAC player!
kkisawesome I love Teac gear. The bookshelf speakers in my bedroom system are Teac and sound great for their size.
D.J. Ellis ditto. Help me. Plz!!
Why woudnt the buyer pay for the shipping??
This is a great video and you have covered a lot, but would you please advise us on how many of those VHS units you buy and then bring home and find out are non-functional and need to be repaired?
Somehow missed the laserdisc player, here in the UK, these are worth big bucks.
hey man! can you plz make a video of how you make your custom packaging for these....?
Portland Goodwills are awesome. Also, hit the DI in Clackamas and Red White and Blue in OC. There's also the Goodwill in OC.
Great video! I would love to see a follow thru video on actually checking the items for working condition, sourcing hookups/remotes if you do, and your packaging style. Electronics make me cringe.
Great video! I’d love to see a video on how you test and prep your electronics before listing them.
Good info man. Thanks
Thanks you!
Means they go with some VCR somewhere... i find VHS blank tapes often at thrifts... the bricks.. come like 6 to 8 in a pack.. if you never see them, you can find people selling them on Ebay.
great info im new at this
Scrabble is a good one to look out for-people use the letters for crafting.
Great video. I would like more of these. I like how you show fees and profit....keep it up
Dude! The goodwills In your area are amazing! Mine look nothing like that, but even still I find good flips all the time. Great video!
Very good video for us EBAY newbies! Thanks for sharing !
I love your video!! Showing us your actual calculation and actual shopping is awesome!
Great video, thanks. How does shipping work. When one says $40 + $25 shipping, is that $65 - real shipping cost?
Thanks.
Great video - useful and also appreciated you explaining the eBay app and netting the value. Keep up the good work
Where do you get the boxes to ship them all?
The post office gives you free boxes in several sizes. Just order from their website and get delivery to your address.
grocery stores will usually give away boxes and you can get them in literally any size.
Great channel. Nice to see other Ebay resellers out there.
At my Goodwill on Sunday the items with the color of the week tag are all 99 cents I got an Atari 7800 for a dollar that was 75 last weekend
HeatingDonkey 31 wow. Sweet deal. Around me they do 50% off every other weekend. There’s usually a deal to do with tag colors, but not as good as that.
My friend works at a goodwill and some guy hid a brand new $100 projector and got it for $1
Great video!
Great video and info. Where is your electronics testing and clean up video?
Please do videos on how to get consistent wholesale sourcing. This way is too inconsistent.
That would be very interesting.
Waiting for the results and Haul #2 video.
so someone else did catch that, nice! JVC going stealth on the plexi and mixing it up,love it
The only things in the electronics section of our Goodwill stores are George Foreman grills.
There are more used George Foremans at good will than there are new units for sale. That's for sure.
How do you test remotes?
USPS Flat rate shipping can be so nice for shipping smaller heavier items. First class shipping can be great for small, light items.
So go with stuff that has pretty recent sales
i always let the buyer pay the shipping so i can make a higher profit especially if it can fit in a flat rate box
Glen Britt me too. And always base my shipping charge on what other sellers are charging for shipping on the same items.
Thanks for telling the truth in this video and giving a realistic description and demonstration of what it really takes to get started and to keep going.
Lmfao... I recognized that Toshiba SDK1000 and already knew it was a dud. Hahaha soo many of those dvd players around 😂
31:17 Your competitor on your left with a brown cap & blue down jacket!
Confused with the intro. Are you saying not to sell used electronics on Amazon?
Thanks For Your Informative Videos.
Dang! I wish my city had that many VCR's at goodwills! What I do, is if the VCR is cheap enough, I buy it no matter what and hoard. You have to remember they are no longer made. Only if you have the room of course. BTW see that air cleaner in the background 👍 #electronicdealer
There is a reason they don't make them anymore.....because nobody is using them. VCRs are not a good re-sale item.
Yes! Electronics are one of my best sellers. Been to a few Goodwills, and this video helped me tremendously on configuring my profit on an item. Look forward to future Videos!
Great video. I'm just starting out. What days of the week do you find are your best days to source?
Why do you not sell for + shipping?
It deters buyers if they have to pay for shipping.
I was going to ask the same thing. Most of the comps he showed were + shipping.
I charge shipping on all my electronics, it brings your profit margins way up
U don't move product as fast
Shipping costs can scare of a buyer real quick so be careful with that
Enjoy seeing you go to the stores.
Seriously tho... I've never been to a good will that had a Stanton turn table and Wii for sale.
Summer Of Sam Summer Of Sam I see Stanton and other new-ish turntables from time to time, but like this one they’re always overpriced. I didn’t even have to look that up. Second I saw it in the video I was thinking “$20 tops, anything more, pass”
Just put my first item up for sale. You guys are such good teachers! Seriously, thanks
That's pretty pricy stand for bubble wrap, why don't you just make one out of PVC ? LOL I'm a chepo.
Dude your videos are so informative. I have been binging on many reseller video's lately and yours have some really good tips. Especially the way you calculate your profit on beforehand, it's just a nice insight. Thanks
VHS players without remote controls are not worth as much as those with.
