Unless you have every possible shipping option in your listing, it is your problem. You picked the shipper, and your shipping contract is insured with the carrier, the buyer is not insured.
You are wrong. You have a customer, then you ship it and you become the shippers customer. Your customer isnt the shippers customer. They get paid by YOU. I do uber eats, Uber is my customer, the person getting the food isnt my customer at all. And the restaraunts treat drivers like shit but we are the customer, not uber or the one eating it.
I shut my eBay store down yesterday until after Christmas. All my outstanding packages aren’t moving at all. I’ve also been sending messages of reassurance to try to prevent INR cases. I filed six missing mail cases yesterday, and six more today. It’s like USPS didn’t know Christmas was coming. DeJoy continues to ruin USPS.
I was somewhere the other day in a waiting room and CSPAN was on. The hearing was about USPS oversight. DeJoy was testifying. He didn’t look like it was bothering him at all. He will probably keep his job in the next administration as he was appointed before this current administration. Not sure why he wasn’t let go and someone else appointed. I don’t think he is a regular postal service employee.
@@kimberlyferrier1312 He has a conflict of interest. He want's to do away with USPS and have all mail and shipping privatized. Betsy DeVos was the same with education. All of them want to deregulate and privatize.
@@kimberlyferrier1312 I'm not positive, but I think there was some reason Byden wasn't able to get rid of him, like his contract or something? Yeah, he's been a disaster, he's done it on purpose, and it'll probably get worse. eBay shipping is collateral damage, and it's going to hurt so many people's stores.
eBay should automatically charge them again if it gets delivered after they get a refund…that sounds like a solution but not sure how easy that would be
If those cookbooks are browning on pages it's from the acid in the cardboard boxes they are stored in. This happens to a lot of things stored long term in cardboard boxes that aren't acid free.
I had this exact thing happen last year. I called ebay after tracking showed it was delivered and they reversed the refund. Worth a shot giving ebay a call.
Had it happen yesterday… i refunded after I got a 2nd reminder that buyer didn’t receive…. As soon as they got the refund they messaged me they had received the items but didn’t think they needed to do anything else… got the call back from eBay… (I really wish they had agents that could explain things!) after 30 (literal) minutes of bantering about what item not delivered case I was talking about… “The only refund I did today!” They told me since I refunded it was closed and they couldn’t do anything… fortunately the buyer made it right and just sent me PayPal… The agent ended with send them a way to pay you back… if they do great, if they don’t nothing can be done…. But I AM FREAKED OUT by how many usps eBay plain envelope Items I have gotten not received notices!
As a buyer and seller, I feel your pain. Last week (Thursday), I bought 4 items from different sellers (toner cartridges for my business). The 3 sent Ground Advantage arrived on time or early. The one sent Priority Mail which should have been here Monday (two days) ago and I needed first is still "in transit". USPS says arriving today but given it isn't at the local distribution center much less the actual local post office and it is 11 AM, it's not arriving today. Hopefully it arrives this week. FYI, I only open item not received cases if it is past the last expected delivery date given by Ebay and there is no tracking number or the tracking number show that it isn't even at the sending post office yet or the item is in transit for over 2 weeks. Often if the item is in transit for 2 weeks and the seller contacts USPS, the item magically starts moving.
The Postal system is really dropping the ball. I live near Louisville, KY and I sent an item to near Ft Wayne, IN. It went to Chicago then Grand Rapids, then Indianapolis and finally Ft Wayne. Another time I had an order going to Northern Michigan from Louisville and it got there via Phoenix AZ and 15 days
You guys need to call someone at USPS to get an info dump on how their tracking works. The enroute scans do mean something. Packages are grouped together into larger bins to travel across country together. Each bin has a manifest of the trackings numbers of all the packages inside it. That manifest has a master tracking number for the entire bin. That scan you think doesn't mean anything actually means the manifest was scanned. When the manifest is scanned, it sends that notification to all the package tracking numbers contained on the manifest. This scan can happen when a bin goes through a distribution center, when a trailer changes trucks, when a bin changes trailers, etc. And the real kicker, it doesn't mean your package is actually there! I have had packages placed in the wrong bin but be on the manifest of the bin it is supposed to be in. This can cause weird scans, like your package scanning in Michigan one day, and then scanning in Hawaii the next day. It means the actual package went one place, and the bin it was supposed to be in went to another. It doesn't necessarily mean your package went to Hawaii. Or you may see two scans on the same day, in two different places; one bacause the manifest was scanned, and the other because the actual package was scanned. Also, if you didn't ship that game Priority, 7 days for a cross country trip like that isn't unusual. And several days between scans isn't unusual. The bin it was in got scanned at a regional center, then rode around 2-3 days in a truck that was making a route across the US. So no scans for several days. It doesn't mean its lost, it just means it is in a bin. I did see you did the correct thing and open a search request (probably too soon because you are paranoid). What most people don't know is that E-Bay won't resolve an escalated lost package claim as long as there is tracking info activity (I forget if longer than 3 days or 5 days was the time frame, I think 5 days). E-Bay doesn't care what scan it is, as long as there is one. So I have used the search request scan to hold a claim open on E-Bay . And it has worked multiple times. E-Bay won't step in at the buyers request for a lost package dispute while those scans are coming in. So because of fear, uncertainty, and doubt, you gave the buyer an unneccesary refund. E-Bay didn't force you to do it. And the PO isn't going to pay your claim because they delivered the item. Rookie mistake because you feared metrics. Finally, USPS knows a lot more about where your package is, then just what is in the tracking. If you get a good support rep at their national call center, they can see what bin it is in, what truck that bin is on (actually what trailer), where that trailer is currently at, and which scans in your history were on the actual package, and which were bin scans (one bin might get dumped into another bin, and you have mutliple bin scans). They can pretty much see anything and if you get a good rep, they will share it with you. I've had a rep tell me that my package was in a bin, on a trailer, that swapped trucks in St Louis, and then was currently sitting in the parking lot of a distribution hub in California, and that the hub was running behind and it was going to be 2 days before they unloaded that trailer to sort for delivery to the surrounding post offices. He could see everything, including the unloading schedule of the trailers sitting on the lot and could detail every step the package had taken. I don't know why you called this a "loophole". What I am seeings is that your Baton Rouge regional center is running terribly.
Thank you for showing us the missing mail case stuff in a video a while back. I just had a missing mail search save me from an "item not arrived" deadline where I would be forced to refund. Took a day or two after starting the case to get a reply. The local Post Office for the buyer's state was in the middle of moving one of their big warehouses apparently (great time of year for that, massive eye roll) and that was causing a lot of backups for the whole area. Luckily the local rep did help get things moving and tracking was updated soon after, buyer got it a day or two later, just in time before my ebay case deadline date. Close call, glad I started that w/ USPS otherwise would be out the item and the total price also, realized I was in the same situation. Mine was a bit under $20, so not a big deal either, but still more the principle of me having done absolutely everything right on my end is frustrating. Buyer did seems thankful I was communicative and stepped in to help.
There is no accountability of USPS. They are happy to upcharge discrepancies in size or weight but losing a package has no accountability. I don't want anyone fired but it would be nice if they'd make a public acknowledgement of the issue and offer a solution. The surcharge for holidays is stupid. When do you make more money? Right? When you are the busiest!
I would highly recommend sending high value items UPS or FedEx, adding shipping cost to the item for sale. UPS and FedEx have much faster delivery times and more reliable scans.
@randymoran67 trust me, I don't like FedEx ground or express. I use UPS and DHL anytime I can, but FedEx is faster and more reliable than USPS. I will say FedEx Freight is really good, tho.
I have been told by postal employees that there has been a problem with their scanning system. So at this point, eBay should acknowledge this and give sellers more time to resolve these issues.
I had the same issue with shipping too. I had to refund a buyer after they opened a case, because the item was not received. A day or so after I refunded the buyer, USPS tracking showed that the item was delivered. I called up Ebay support, explained that I want my money back since the tracking now showed the item was delivered. I was ready to ask for a manager if needed. The Ebay representative said he would escalate my case. A couple days later Ebay's escalation team responded back and said they would refund me my money. Here is their exact wording in their reply to me "Thanks for resolving your buyer's request. Since the item was delivered to the buyer, we have issued a courtesy refund to you. " I laugh at their choice of words used "courtesy refund". Like they are doing me a favor out of the kindness of their heart... No Ebay, give me my money!
I’ve had this happen a couple times recently myself and know exactly what you’re talking about. There is a loophole. A couple of suggestions based on the circus I went through as you can ask eBay to extend the deadline for resolution after you have shown that you communicated with the buyer and opened a missing mail request. I didn’t do that for either of my cases, but that was their suggestion when I talked to the rep. The other suggestion was to work with the original purchaser and send them a PayPal request or ask for a physical check or payment however you can. But again that’s just on the honor system. I’ve got a buyer that purchased something about six months ago and they told me they were gonna pay for it told me that it arrived and still haven’t seen anything. I’ll check in with them once a week or so. I thought about sending a handwritten letter via mail to see if that’ll help. I’ve even tried calling the phone number, but they have registered to their account on eBay and left messages. Very frustrating!
Yea. I didn’t know that either. And I had asked eBay if they were going to do something about the huge difference in delivery time now as what it used to be. They didn’t mention that the time to resolve could be extended and I had indeed filed an item search with USPS, communicated with the buyer and kept eBay in on the loop.
Usually if you are keeping your customer informed (as you do) they are much more patient. I recently had an issue with a seller. My item didnt come by deadline. I first sent a message asking why it hadnt been sent. No response. I asked to cancel. She REFUSED! The item had not even been shipped two weeks after i should have received it. I gave her plenty of options to contact me. I contacted ebay and i now have my refund
You're lucky you're not out of Columbus, Ohio. Almost everything I've shipped from USPS out of Columbus has not moved since December 2nd. I hear they have a 90 trailer backlog of unscanned outgoing mail. I was actually having a good season but I'm going to take a bloodbath as a result of this. All my new listings are only shipping UPS or FedEx ground until it gets sorted out. UGH, Nightmare!
I have noticed anything going to the west coast is a nightmare for me and I’m in NY. I had a package going to ca, it went to wa for whatever reason, then it shows it left wa and then 3 days later it showed it was back in wa. Thanks to watching you guys I opened a missing mail search and lo and behold that same day it left wa, and next scan was ca. but still not delivered and almost 2 weeks since it has been mail.
Delivery after refund for item not received should automatically open a case that eBay looks at and makes a resolution for. It's as easy as sending an invoice with the amount owed for the item received with an option to return it for free if they no longer want the item
ebay is 100% responsible for not creating a 'longer than expected' rule. Especially during this time of year. could be worded as Sellers will abide by their handling time but shipping services WILL take exponentially longer. do not expect your item until next year!
Yeah except they're too greedy to do that. And they wanna be like Amazon so bad with fast shipping that they don't want to tell the buyers it might take a long time. They still for years have said on all my items when you go to purchase it "expected delivery date" and then says whatever date 3 days later is. When I have it set that I don't even have to ship for 3 days. So how's it gunna get to them in 3 days? Which then puts all the weight on you if the buyer buys it expecting it in 3 days.
@@bethschroeder2482 On the other hand, Etsy ran a "get your gifts in time or get a refund" ad campaign on their front page. Which is totally ridiculous if you ask me. And of course that's coming out of the sellers' pockets again. To avoid the hassle, I just put my delivery times as high as humanly possible. Expected delivery is now 40 days for everything I sell. I'll put it back to normal when the holidays are over.
If Ebay did that seller's who do that should lose Top Seller status. A buyer shouldn't have to wait a month to receive a domestic package in the lower 48. The solution is the seller man the heck up and pay for UPS or Fed-Ex... and/or get a real job and stop reselling!
Often the tracking seen by sellers and buyers isn't updated in real time. So whenever a buyer is worried about it I ask our postmaster to look for it in their system, on their computer. Every single time that happens I learn that the item is actually out for delivery that day, and the buyer gets their package by the end of the day.
Well this explains why someone asked me for a refund after 3 days! I knew it was a scam buyer. She got it the next day and I didn't give her a refund. You people help the scammers
The solution would be for the USPS to issue a redirect delivery or "return to sender" on the item, based on your proof of refund to the recipient as part of the insurance claim AND then issue you a refund for the postage you paid. You get the item back, plus the postage. not perfect, but way better than what happens currently.
@@ebayvideo6383 you're right. you can request an intercept for a fee STARTING at $17.50. My thought though was as part of a "missing mail / insurance claim" it should be automatic AND free. Of course, for a $300 item, $17.50 would be worth it.
Yeah right... I'd like to see you try that for free. Instead ask buyer if no longer wanting package to not open in any manner and write REFUSED- RETURN TO SENDER and give to mail carrier or drop at Post office. You will see it scan and start to come back although it may take longer. I've been doing this for 24 yes and many packages. (Even if buyer did open and changed their mind or possibly got a wrong shipment. It's very successful way to get package back. Priority mail is returned for free and most other packages are also.
This seems to be an ongoing issue now with the USPS every year from Thanksgiving until Christmas. Last year I started getting messages after Thanksgiving about packages 2 or 3 weeks late. Turns out our main hub here in VA did not hire any extra help for the holidays and was told by local post office they were "gridlocked" with trucks sitting a couple weeks with packages on trucks not moving and not getting any scans. The only way I was able to hold off the buyers was to message them and let them know I would be giving them 25% refund after their package shows up to make up for the delays (to try to prevent them from opening up a case). It got so bad and I was losing enough money to where I took down all of my listings until after the new year. This all started the Christmas during the covid lockdowns and 5 years later USPS still doesn't seem to adequately prepare for the holiday season. This year from now until the new year I will only be listing bigger heavier items that will ship UPS
I had my first complaint "Package not delivered". USPS tracking shows package was delivered. EBAY claims to have my back on this but I notice they are withholding 2X funds. Not sure why they are penalizing me twice for this. And of course EBAY is not answering. the phone.....any ideas?
A question for you guys when you get a customer that files a item not received and you get to the deadline to refund and the parcel is not near their destination in tracking. Would it not be best after you refund the customer to file a return parcel claim back to you at the same time? So they stop the delivery of the parcel and send it back especially if it's expensive. So that you don't have to then lose out just a query. Thanks for content. 😊
I have started checking address from Miami area and any address that has a suite number instead of apartment. I google and you can see the building. If it’s an empty commercial building I cancel the order, if there is a closed bank that rents offices upstairs I cancel it. They usually give eBay a non working number.
Same thing here regarding the delays with usps. Its been pissing me off honestly. The 12:00 am auto updates most of all. It feels like im not being taken seriously as their customer as they arent searching for it or trying to get it to the next location/destination. (And i know im not already, dont need a reminder, but i am going to be sending in insurance claims and missing mail on every single one till they get their crud together) Put in a return request to usps and have your item brought back to you. USPS provides a promised delivery date. A binding estimate is legally enforceable, and its a detriment to your business if their promise is not upkept. The answer is simple to the problem, get it delivered when promised. Tried contracting local and they claim they arent allowed to contact their distribution centers, and thats bs.
I wrote you as a buyer a month ago. I made a complaint and had 48 hours to reply but the seller replied within 2 hours and eBay said it was delivered and closed. RIP OFF! My light for last weeks buy disappeared Wednesday night when it got stuck going from Phoenix to Scottsdale, 20 miles away. No updates now. It was supposed to be here yesterday. The most I can see is a partnership between USPS and UPS with UPS doing the long haul and USPS doing the last mile. It seems to fail the last mile hand-off. I'm going to see the manager at my local Post office Monday.
I've been shipping UPS Ground Service instead of USPS Ground. Items go thru UPS until they make it to the USPS unit the item is supposed to be delivered from. Had had zero issues doing that.
I recently purchased a $400 photo scanner on eBay with $90 priority mail shipping. It has been sitting with the "In Transit to Next Facility" for 4 days. It was shipped on the 6th and it is now the 12th. I just filed a missing mail request and am hoping to have it start showing up. I have one item not received request right now, the buyer even said they know it is not my fault and that USPS is not doing a good job. The problem is it has to be resolved in a 2 days and the item will not be delivered by then, though the tracking did start showing up. I am reaching out to eBay now to see what I can do.
The further issue with this sort of situation is that Ebay doesn't offer an easy way for the buyer to re-pay the seller later. I've been on the buying end of items gone missing, and when I wanted to pay when the item *finally* arrived weeks and weeks late, the seller and I would need to invent ways for me to pay them. One had me send a check, one had me buy an item of the same price with the understanding that they wouldn't actually send it to me.
FYI- if you ever have issues with UPS SEND me a message. I’m a supervisor in Hub in CA. I have access to info beyond what you can see on tracking #’s. I also have access to direct # to hub driver leaves from.
When the 3 day timer starts you can contact ebay and if the tracking shows that its moving, theyll extend the deadline another 10 days. I believe they ask you to contact them on the day of deadline to extend it
I've had 2 items this week where people were the buyers both were messaging me every single day saying there gunna need to open a case if it doesn't show up soon and both of them wanted me to call USPS about it. Both of them were unscanned for about a week and a half each. And then one moved across the country and said out for delivery all in one scan. And the other just said out for delivery this morning. They need to hire more people around Christmas or something because it gets bad every single year around Christmas
I've been saying this for years. As long as I ship within my deadline and there is no problem with the way I packed the item then it should not be my issue. I can't control the post office and eBay is the one that says "guaranteed delivery by.." Honestly, eBay should be issuing the refund...once they have to pay out of pocket, I'm sure they will reach out to "their USPS partners" and create a better system.
Since the item was refunded the title of ownership reverts to you. You will have to pay postage, but the customer is stealing it if they don't allow you to get it back, e.g. by arranging a courier to pick it up. You would need to see if your insurance covers loss under this scenario as one way to get the cost of it to you back, or if not the courier owes you since it was they who caused the loss. What you must not do is anything that is contributory to the loss, e.g. not bother to ask for it back.
When I file a mail search I always choose the option to have the package returned to me. I don't ever hesitate with refunds and I keep the buyer informed. I've never had a package disappear forever. Just click that box and get your item back.
Seller protections and eBay customer service says that if they step in on an item not received case as long as tracking shows that it is in USPS possession then we are covered by seller protection and they cover the refund to the customer and seller keeps money as well. The refund comes from eBay. Had two of mine do this. It’s not always a bad thing to let eBay step in especially if you have communication with the buyer already. The protections do work!
I've had a few items get "stuck" in transit. It seems like you two have been pretty proactive, and responded to each case. It's important to know, that you can contact Ebay, and they can offer an extension.(use the "call me" feature, its better than chat) It's not perfect, but it can extend that 2 day response, to 5 business days. They typically ask that you be in communication with the buyer first (which it sounds like you have.) If the item gets another scan during that extension, Ebay can later add an additional extension. If not, it's refund time. Hope this helps!
I had the same situation with a lost low cost item that I refunded before eBay would get involved. My customer finally received the item and wanted to pay me for it. I couldn't figure out a way. How could that be done?
I am experiencing the exact same thing with one of my packages with USPS. Mailed Dec 2nd and tracking just says in transit to next facility....all tracking frozen since Dec 6th. I opened a missing mail request (thanks to watching your previous video I knew what to do) on Dec 10th....but no updates. Customer has requested a refund, which I will have to issue tomorrow. :(
Cleburne TX postal service is an absolute joke so are Ft Worth and Dallas distribution hubs. We are at the mercy of a service that has failed. Myself having a PO box means i pay extra for nothing. Really sick of it.
Was going trough my solds and found one that was shipped nov 1 and still wasn't delivered going esi and opened a case got delivered to shipping hub the next day
I highly recommend taking insurance on any item that one is uncomfortable losing amount of the sale. I, too, have screwed up and failed to add insurance to higher priced items and it never fails that that item is one that gets lost. I guess it’s the same reason I know that stock market pivots off my investments and trades. Always in the opposite direction!
I have just gone through the same thing with eBay and the USPS. I was forced to give a refund after I put a missing item claim. Thankfully, the only plus side to this is I do not think the buyer can give you negative feedback if you reimburse them on a refund claim.
Not sure if this was answered already but if you ask the customer you refunded to refuse the package if delivered (write refused on package), the post office will return the package without extra postage as long as it is UNOPENED (with most services). I think this works the same with ground advantage. I hope i'm understanding the problem correctly.
I just sent a package to a relative that was sent priority, 2 day delivery. It took 7 days to get there. I get that there is more product moving, but not sure why we are paying top dollar for expedited delivery, for USPS to not keep their end of the bargain. The tracking has been awful. As resellers, we are at the mercy of the shipping/ delivery companies, especially at this time of year.

There are a few solutions. eBay could extend the time frame to file not received claims by a couple weeks during holidays. They can also reverse the refund if the customer receives the item. They could also deal directly with USPS, just like they do to get special rates.
I checked the status of a claim I had to file and I thought they were waiting for it to be delivered so they could decline the claim. But they have issued a refund and they’ve also refunded shipping.
A couple of years ago I sold a sweatshirt on eBay and it was a slow moving scanning package customer opened item not received I had to refund it was almost 60 bucks. 3 days after I did the refund she sent me a picture of her wearing the sweatshirt saying thank you for an awesome sweatshirt and her 50 bucks back. I contacted eBay with the proof she got the item and eBay pretty much told me suck to be you.
Those messages are not scans, a USPS rep told me they are system generated. I have had so many issues this season. I had to refund a pkg Friday, the customer purchased a second of the same item and sure enough they received the original and the second. I am just out the money.
I have one like this that I am now waiting on a check from the customer to pay for it. I really don't want to accept a check but they don't do paypal or any else like that. It is an older person who doesn't communicate well through the messenger system. Very frustrating. Its a $30 item which is not big money but at the same time it does hurt since sales are slower. Ebay needs to do something in these situations like refund but put a hold or something on the funds until there is a resolution. It's kinda scary for higher dollar items.
Same here the post office has been cheating me I’m a one man show packages getting lost or damaged and usps has dined me refund and packages are being delivered super late not fair but then again it’s the government
Mercari has a new fee structure starting next year. I'm still doing good on Mercari the way it is. You just have to adjust the price and be willing to accept offers a little lower than what it's listed for.
I would inform buyers in advance there could be up to a 3 week delay during the holidays though you could possibly decrease chances of a sale but at least you won't be at a loss of money and your items. Id rather someone just not buy it if extended delivery is an issue during this time. Maybe just set those expectations on higher dollar items during the holidays and I think resetting customers expectations will help with the overall customers experience.
I had this happen last year with a 60 dollar item. I refunded and then item was delivered. Before I filed the claim customer received and teach out. I created a new private listing and buyer paid. I marked shipped and used original tracking number. So everything worked out.
I have tons of packages not moving. Major issues from November 20 on. Packages not scanned in until Dec 1. Tons of cases opened. I don’t like eBay to make a decision on tracking either on last day but the last 3 I’ve had the customer escalated and eBay extended the time 10 days because it did have a scan telling the customer it’s on the way at one point. If there was no scan at all I think it would have been different. So eBay has been good to me so far. I wish eBay and the post office would put up a warning that says there are postal delays in some parts of the country. Then if there are issues we can say see this message on eBay. The customers first thought is you are scamming them. The sellers need some back up especially for people that buy on eBay twice a year and don’t know anything. It’s like they are hiding it all from the public.
Here in the UK, some couriers provide caged service shipping, costs a bit more, great for delicate items and expensive stuff. I would only trust high end items to that service, not Royal Mail, our equal to your USPS
Does insurance even help in the cases where buyer gets refunded and THEN the package gets found and starts moving? Package intercept on usps is awful and never has worked for me. eBay did say they’d give the package more time for an expensive item but thankfully that one started to move.
I don’t have time to screw around with to post office. I call the inspector and tell them these are customers and they are ruining my business. They move real quick finding missing packages
Sellers should be able to open a case as part of their seller protection to receive their refund back if they can prove the item was ultimately delivered and the delay was through no fault of their own. This should be covered as part of our seller protections. In my opinion this is what we are paying for.
Great idea! THAT would encourage eBay to extend the time they force sellers to refund because at that point EBAY would have a loss of income because of their own unfair system!
In the past eBay told me to never refund before 30 days; as long as you upload tracking and message buyer about opening the case with carrier you should be covered.
I'm running into the same issues with shipping guys, keep the faith and keep moving forward!! love the channel. I'm on ebay/posh/etsy/mercari/depop so i'm getting hit with all of this stuff too.
Yes!! Ebay needs to extend shipping times. On my ebay if I go to purchase shipping the “expected delivery date is like 2 days out” ……No way USPS has moved that fast in their life. I wish item not received would be at least 10 days out so it would give time for claims to be investigated and packages to get moving. My usps hasn’t even been scanning packages “saves time they say” that’s BS and eBay needs to understand that the postal system is just having problems and shouldn’t be held against sellers.
Before the holidays a friend mailed me something usps it took me going to the post office to get it delivered . 12 days from one state over ! I agree with the “item in transit” that’s buying them time !!!!! USPS is terrible these days !
We have had over 100 packages that have been late over a week. The defects are increasing on late delivery. USPS GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER. Amazon is their priortiy right now. Our carrier had 3 Van loads today of Amazon packages.
If you have to refund the buyer because a package was not delivered, but it still gets delivered in less than 30 days, ebay will pay you for that package. And the buyer still gets to keep it. That has happened to me twice already this season.
The fundamental issue is that despite being an essential service USPS is expected to produce a profit (unlike say the US coastguard which is also an essential service) whilst suffering from chronic under investment would be expected to compete on price with UPS/Pirate Ship et al for cherry picked profitable business are also obligated to cover the actual cost of mailing a letter from some village in New Mexico to a cabin in Alaska but receiving only the price of a stamp. I suppose the counterpoint would be that having a functioning, reliable and organised mail service would be ' iTs SOciAlisT' - maybe that's what they believe in Bute Montana about the Coastguard! As always only ship what you can afford to lose (loss in transit and scamming buyers) or sell enough of it to dilute the risk.
I think eBay should offer some type of insurance protection that sellers can purchase with a shipping label that gives them protection from items lost in shipment. eBay could add to their bottom line while providing peace of mind to sellers who can’t afford potential losses of this type. It’s a win/win.
Solution to delivery issue would be for ebay to impound the refund until USPS case closed. Everyone would be covered. They impound my sales when I started another account until I established a reputation
Don’t forget you can file a package intercept with the USPS. Costs $17.50 and shipping back to you. Can be useful for high ticket items and pita buyers.
I've had the same issue where an item was delivered after i gave a refund, I called ebay and they refunded me my money back, happened twice actually, ill talk about it more in my next video tomorrow - i also typically tell the customer we need to allow ample time to allow the item to be found and delivered, typically a solid 2/3 weeks from when the item was set to deliver as the post office wont deem it "lost" until then, most customers are understanding and ebay wont step in unless the customer requests them to step in - I typically set a refund date the buyer and I agree on and if the item hasn't arrived by then I issue a refund, so far thats gone smooth and most the time the items show up, you do get the very impatient customer occasionally and will be forced to just issue the refund but that's rare, again if you have to do that and later the item does deliver call ebay they should refund from my experience
First off Ebay should extend the allowed time and not make the bold promises of delivered by X date, especially during the holidays. Next, if a package is not delivered in a certain window, then Ebay can do a refund to the buyer but hold the funds for a certain period of time, like 30 days to allow for the eventual delivery. Post office should also be accountable for all packages they handle without having to buy insurance.
It is no wonder that the P.O. Is loosing money !! I have had items go to the state they are supposed to and then the P.O. sends it 10 states away !! I had one go to Florida and they then sent it to Hawaii !! Just 1 example !!
eBay should allow 3-4 weeks before a case could b opened. USPS should also ramp up things during holiday time which they actually do. They hire seasonally and those with prior military service get priority. I hear ya. It happens to me sometimes too.
These types of cases should be between ebay and the shipper. It's not my fault if the shipper screws up. I did my part of the contract.
I’m now below standard for international sales because Ascendia can’t get shipping overseas right. Still TRS+ in the states.
Your part of the contract isn’t to ship the item, it’s to make sure the buyer receives the item.
Unless you have every possible shipping option in your listing, it is your problem. You picked the shipper, and your shipping contract is insured with the carrier, the buyer is not insured.
@@ChadRaushReally? They are NOT in the shipping/mail delivery business
I'm doing the same. People want their items by Christmas and I have no confidence that will happen.
@@kimberlyferrier1312 I'm not positive, but I think there was some reason Byden wasn't able to get rid of him, like his contract or something? Yeah, he's been a disaster, he's done it on purpose, and it'll probably get worse. eBay shipping is collateral damage, and it's going to hurt so many people's stores.
eBay should automatically charge them again if it gets delivered after they get a refund…that sounds like a solution but not sure how easy that would be
I was told by my local postal worker that the "in transit" update is automated and NOT a real tracking update. Glad your item finally arrived.
That is 100% correct. It means nothing
@@mymisty7 I've worked with people who believe doing SOMETHING is better than pausing to cinsider whats best.
Yes correct. Explained nicely. Yes I thought why the heck they are refunding so quickly. People get so scared and refund way too much.
The issue is they don't have enough employees to deliver. Go apply and help out.
@reversiontothemean6129 I don't believe it.
Dang guys! That was scary! I am so glad to see it out for delivery!
I would highly recommend sending high value items UPS or FedEx, adding shipping cost to the item for sale. UPS and FedEx have much faster delivery times and more reliable scans.
fed ex is a joke
@randymoran67 trust me, I don't like FedEx ground or express. I use UPS and DHL anytime I can, but FedEx is faster and more reliable than USPS. I will say FedEx Freight is really good, tho.
I have been told by postal employees that there has been a problem with their scanning system. So at this point, eBay should acknowledge this and give sellers more time to resolve these issues.
there's no problem with their scanning it's just a poorly managed business around the holidays and we pay a premium for their service
Thanks for this information!
Every year it gets like this all over the US. Plan accordingly for your sales
Etsy does have than option. It have come in very handy during Q4.
@@raid_or_die8962no ebay is not going to put that. Sellers have shipping options. Use them.
If Ebay did that seller's who do that should lose Top Seller status. A buyer shouldn't have to wait a month to receive a domestic package in the lower 48. The solution is the seller man the heck up and pay for UPS or Fed-Ex... and/or get a real job and stop reselling!
When you refund can't you have USPS route the package back to you instead of delivering to recipient?
You can do that with USPS unfortunately I believe it costs money to redirect.
I love the cure. One of my all time fav bands.
(And i know im not already, dont need a reminder, but i am going to be sending in insurance claims and missing mail on every single one till they get their crud together)
Put in a return request to usps and have your item brought back to you.
@SandMarcusJ thats called UPS GROUND SAVER. Actually UPS ground is delivered by UPS
Rule of thumb - NEVER let Ebay handle a dispute if you can help it. I've had nothing but awful experiences as a seller.
FYI- if you ever have issues with UPS SEND me a message. I’m a supervisor in Hub in CA. I have access to info beyond what you can see on tracking #’s. I also have access to direct # to hub driver leaves from.
I got a negative the package delivered a couple hours after they sent negative.
OMG it's happening to me right now with 2 packages! Luckily, I have 2 patient buyers, but this could go VERY wrong!
I've been saying this for years. As long as I ship within my deadline and there is no problem with the way I packed the item then it should not be my issue. I can't control the post office and eBay is the one that says "guaranteed delivery by.."
Honestly, eBay should be issuing the refund...once they have to pay out of pocket, I'm sure they will reach out to "their USPS partners" and create a better system.
The protections do work!
you just got lucky usually it's the opposite
Paypal
Was going trough my solds and found one that was shipped nov 1 and still wasn't delivered going esi and opened a case got delivered to shipping hub the next day
I spoke with USPS and was told some items were mistakenly shipped over seas . They said to be patient, they will get there . Horrible
you can track it and see the truth.. its just sitting at a distribution center

Look like you guys can sell anything , amazing good job !
I just had to file 2 more package search cases today, I also have one missing package case open. It has been an ongoing problem. I’m in Ohio.
@@gailsheppard5404 yeah right. You are top priority.
USPS constantly raising prices but cant get packages delivered. Dont keep asking people for more money if cant perform the job
I had a similar issue where a return was coming to me, and the buyer opened the keys before the return was delivered
I have an item that tracks from Sea to LA to Sea to LA to SEA. was due on Dec 2.
I would suggest they pay it forward , considering the cost 13:08
If it shows delivered, they should require the buyer return or they will be charged for the original price..
I have had numerous packages these last 3 weeks delayed. It's crazy!!! And everytime a buyer gets refunded. Usps delivers it.
eBay should stop putting in "will arrive by" time in my listing,I ship on time ,I have no idea when it will arrive and either does eBay.
Yes !!!! 1000%
My arrival times can be next day or two days and I’m like (yeah right) usps has never moved that fast.
I’ve had this happen several times ebay can either put the case on hold or you can contact eBay for a refund as it was delivered.
Ditchit has simplified online shopping for me-I couldn’t ask for more! 😊
Honestly, you two are adorable❤ ITALIANA! ITALIANA! 😂
USPS caused this issue and should be held accountable.
I had one like this last week and the customer sent a repayment to my paypal account.
Does USPS insurance also refund your shipping cost?
It is no wonder that the P.O. Is loosing money !! I have had items go to the state they are supposed to and then the P.O. sends it 10 states away !! I had one go to Florida and they then sent it to Hawaii !! Just 1 example !!
I stopped USPS shipping to Hawaii because packages were taking more than 3 weeks to be delivered via Ground Advantage.
I had a lost USPS shipment, Customer never got it, refunded them. they sent me a check for the item.
eBay should allow 3-4 weeks before a case could b opened. USPS should also ramp up things during holiday time which they actually do. They hire seasonally and those with prior military service get priority. I hear ya. It happens to me sometimes too.
