i seriously think netflix made a big mistake cancelling your show. its one of the most unique cooking shows i have ever seen!!
I loved her show on Netflix
same. i wish there were 10 seasons.
So true!
This way though, through youtube and patreon she can be her own boss and she cannot get cancelled! 😁😁 Netflix has a habit of canceling good shows. Creators like Christine don't need those greedy companies!!!
Her youtube is so much better then the Netflix show.
This shade is phenomenal. Like Shelly I've been covering lamp shades for over 40 years in the techniques that you were using and learning as you go along are ones that were used by Victorian shade makers and dressmakers. When I thrift fabrics I look for silk lingerie and wedding dresses to use for shades. Sometimes I also stencil fabric after I've cut the patterns. My four cats are also a big help. 82 and still making lampshades.
Everything about this is amazing 💜
@pnsgrits! You go girl!! I would love to see your work. Do you also have a RUclips channel that shows anything that you do?
I can't even imagine how excited you must've been when you could film that lightning behind your house.
It was SO exciting!! I'm hoping I can shoot another one soon with a light set up on the house, so you can see more detail :D
I love how Christine will say “I’ve never done this before” and then proceeds to revive some of the most STUNNING antiques I’ve ever seen. Truly one of the hidden gems on RUclips. I love love LOVE your work!!
Yes, yes, I completely agree!! Love that! LOL
I can just imagine someone finding this lampshade 100 years from now in a consignment shop and wondering about the story behind it.
Certainly, it will not be inherited by her children.
@@jmchez Clearly you didn't watch the entire video lol
Or finding it only 50 years from now & Thinking it's from the 1800's! 🤔
@@vaderladyl😢Or throwing them out!!!! My daughter said she's going to sell my antiques and go on a vacation. 🎉😂
@@jmchezwatching this 2 yrs later and found your comment! Thats scary. I dont have children and now just thinking of what will happen to all my stuff when I pass..
Little tip from an embroiderer for anyone interested, when we transfert a drawing by hand we use frixion pen because the ink disapears with heat so if your embroidery doesn't match exactly in certain parts it's ok because the outline will be erasable.
Yes it is 100% forgiving unlike paint. There are also water soluble pens too, so you can draw and then once your done put water over the pen lines and they wash away.
Thank you!
But are there any tips if I want to embroider on an opaque fabric that's black in colour? How does one tranfer a design there?
Where would I look for a frixion pen? Thank you for sharing the hint.
@@mansi8963 Depends on the size of the embroidery but water soluble stabilizer is an option
Not only are you gifted as an artist and creator, your love for everything Victorian Gothic and your precious four legged fur babies is amazing. I love everything you do, and the time and care you put into everything.
You have created an amazing world and brought your viewers along for the ride.
I am forever a viewer.
Perfectly said 💖
I tried in vain to say the same thing, you said it better.. Watching her creations feels like you're being swooped up into her world of spooky, antique, lacey, intricate and delicate beauty.. Its fascinating, mesmerizing and inspiring all at once.
This was so well written and I whole-heartedly agree.
Agreed 100%
If anyone is considering joining the patreon do it!!! The pattern she has for the drapes is the best!! She puts so much love in every project, it really feels fair to pay to see it if you can.
Can you see all the past videos too? Or can you only see stuff posted after you subscribe?? I've always wanted to sign up just to see Christine's content but I'm always unsure
@@SpookyProductions13 You can see all her past videos. I signed up last month and she published a different video for patrons other than this one. She also does livestreams, it really is fun
I'm looking forward to getting a credit card just so I can become a Patron. Ha.
She post way more too!
I’m a catless woman with lots of kids 🤣 and I’ll never be able to do this but it’s so mesmerizing to watch you transform the shade. You are amazing 🤩
Well, my dear, you’ve done it AGAIN. Just finished watching this and the vanity episode on Patreon and I am starting my day absolutely gobsmacked. Brilliant, beautiful, creative, meticulous and appropriately goth-fabulous work. I love spiders, and my favourite thing about that diamond insert is the netting underlay that gives a spider web effect when the lamp is turned on. Just a wonderful detail. Added bonus is the newest fur baby celebrity ”couple” to hit the scene: ArchiButtons. ❤️😉 Hope you all are safe and well. X
Go to Australian outback if you love spiders. You will see different species, both small and large ones.
@@dot1384 I KNOW! They’re glorious. Huntsman is among my favourites. ❤️🕷
@@Peaches4167 I had a beautiful Mexican Red Knee tarantula for fifteen years & her name was Ranch. Her colors were black & dark orange. Great for Halloween. I held her in my hands numerous times & not once did she ever bite me. They are a very laid back Spider. Now it’s three Labs.
@@denisewalberg5803 They really are just lovely. Great name, btw. ☺️
I drop everything to watch when you post. You are living my younger dream life!! Please don't stop. The lampshade is gorgeous... the Vanity is amazing. I, in my "old age" am downsizing to a large RV and am planning to hit the road traveling here in the US. With trips to all the places internationally I have always dreamed of visiting. Lost my mom on 2/22/22 and I am committed to seeing and doing the things I have always meant to do and not leaving this world first, like she did. I try not to miss an episode either recorded or livestream and look forward to having you on my phone for many years!!!!!
Very happy and safe travels to you. I am so sorry you lost your Mum. I lost my parents just before and just after the pandemic started. My deepest sympathies.

I am so very sorry for the loss of your Mother. I think the adventure you're getting ready to embark on sounds like an incredible way to celebrate life and see so many new things!

You've inspired me! You are living the dream I'D like. I'm 'retired' and in a little studio apartment, but it would be great to hit the road like that someday. That speaks to my heart. :o)
This is the most beatiful lamp I have ever seen!! An unique piece of art
If they ever did a coraline movie live action, you’d be a wonderful set designer! Everything you create is beautiful!
Your pets are the cutest thing ever!!!! The lamp shade turned out so pretty!!!! 😍😍😍
As I experience the process of aging, the longing to be a humble and kind hag of the neighborhood has been an aspiration of mine. Like you, I am also childless with a few cats & dogs and life is pretty lovely. Loving my witchy cottage with medieval vibes inside (may or may not be obsessed with dragon and gargoyles). Thank you for bringing such beauty and inspiration-you are truly a treasure!
Awwww…. I love your comment - people often assume that a woman alone with pets is a lonely life, but, never really having been without a man, I often think that I really might enjoy it ! Blessings to you from sunny Florida ! 😊
“Humble and kind hag of the neighborhood” = #goals I aspire to be an Auntie Mame type - hag of the neighborhood… who throws great parties
Most people have children because they are terrified of facing their void lives. Gargoyles and medieval cottage ? Your life sounds thrilling, you need no children lol
Your (our) demographic is actually the happiest and longest-living.
@@spidaminida🌸Yep, having kids will definitely shave off years. Once they hit 12 years old they are absolute geniuses. They know everything. So throw away Google. You don't need it anymore. Just ask a teen.😅
OMG---that dress! And that starburst brooch (I love starburst mirrors and brooches), and that HAIR!!!.
“I’ve always just wanted to be a childless woman living with a lot of cats” both you and 80% of your viewers, Christine
I have the best of both worlds. A child and 5 cats.
Spot on
Child free. You didn’t lose anything but stress and worry. 😂
I came to look for this comment, as I am here all for it!!! No kids, no stress 🙌
Children do not add very much stress to your life. I think people build it up as something it's not. I really enjoyed the whole experience. It's an incredible love that cannot be compared to any other. Even my wife, who I adore, is in second place.
Gorgeous!! and you are not childless, you are child FREE
16:20 when the shade rotated with all the pins glittering in the low light ✨ magical
Absolutely Beautiful!!! 😍🥰🙏👌
I have no means or need for any of this, yet I watch religiously. I'll be having toast in the old sofa from the old flat I share with other two students like "yes Christine tell me all about 19th century wallpaper"
All I can say is that shade is incredibly beautiful.
11:07 Hearing your observation about the sound of the rain and train in the distance was a lovely little atmospheric note. I love visiting your world through your videos!
beautiful project. and even when she pets her cat she is elegant.
The lampshade is breathtakingly beautiful! ...From another "childless woman with a lot of cats"...♥
Always in awe. Attention to detail is chefs kiss
Another enchanting video by the queen
When this video started, I thought that had to be the ugliest lampshade I’ve ever seen. By the end, I was astounded. Once again, your mastery of color, texture, shape, and design has transformed what anyone else would consider trash into a work of art. And I love that you use traditional techniques.
You are literally one of my favorite people in the world. Just wanted to let you know.
So excited for this! Needed some more Christine McConnell in my life today!
Agreed. The timing is perfect.

I guess I am the 20%.... Can't imagine my life without my son and grandsons.. and I am a total dog girl. But , I am so intrigued with your creative mind. And when you have no one interrupting your process and journey, it must be quite meditative and tranquil.
You, my lady, are indeed my spirit animal!

My son is almost thirteen and absolutely captivated by all of Christine’s projects. ❤️
That lamp shade is stunning!!!!!
Phenomenal!!! You have THE. most original and creative mind ever. Just watching your intro is a feast for the senses. That lampshade is a work of art.
Beautiful finish, that spider is everything. Embroidery on a sheer fabric is a challenge that you are totally up to. Love that shade!

A mini holiday. A little bit of inspiring escapisim to another dimension where this talented lady lives. Thanks Christine☆
WOW! Absolutely STUNNING!!
Magnificent! You should have a line of spooky-chic decor. My husband and I are a childless couple as well! Our animals are our cherished children. Thank you for sharing your beautiful talents! ❤️
Her voice is so comforting, it makes me sleepy in a good way
a flame LED bulb would look magnificent behind that shade.
Oh and the lamp is freakin amazing and beautiful too!
i actually sewed a lampshade with tassels a while ago. my cat.. stole one of the tassels. i basically sewed my own cover over an ikea one that i stripped down! but ive really been wanting to learn how to get a more complex shape so this is super helpful : ) also i read that this was coming "in a bit" and assumed "oh in a few days" and then imagine my happy surprise when i saw this in my sub feed! thank you for two beautiful videos in one day!
I was so happy when i saw your channel pop up i have been so busy aww the kitties and doggies made my day i love working on old lamps as well i am a shabby chic girl nice to see you again thank you for shareing all your talent it made my day.
I LOVE ALL OF YOUR WONDERFUL IDEAS CHRISTINE MCCONNELL I WISH YOUR TV SERIES COULD BE PUT BACK ON AIR I REALLY MISS THE TV SERIES ONE OF MY FAVORITE AND A LONG TIME ♥️😍😊😉🤟✌️👍💯
Absolutely intrigued with your never ending talents of design .... Then along came a .... spider! Christine .... a SPIDER ...! Sigh ..... only you could pull off a most beautiful and unique one of a kind self designed lamp shade ... with a spider .......
You did a fabulous job on that. I’ve been hand sewing Victorian lamp shades for over 20 years and it’s very addicting once you figure out the tips and tricks for all the techniques you can do! There are resources to order beautiful frames in a ton of styles brand new. I spray paint mine if they aren’t coated or they will rust through eventually with humidity exposure. Please do more, your skills and ideas are amazing. ❤️💯🙌🤩
Where do you order your frames ?? :))
I love her use of candle light with all of her gorgeous candelabras!
Christine is endless creative and endlessly accomplished. She can do anything and everything. No fanfare, just amazing results.
I love your style. From the intro to everything. Reminds me of my favorite season & holiday.
Embroidering on tulle is tricky, but you make it look so easy! You make everything look easy and beautiful and hypnotic.
Oh Christine! What can’t you do! This lampshade is amazing 🤩 . Love all your furry family super cute 🥰
Incredibly beautiful
I guess I have an appreciation for lampshades now. Didn't see that coming. Cool video. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the beautiful and instructional videos . I love your series and RUclips work. It’s great to see you spreading the enjoyment and skills and of fine craftwork.
I am always blown away by you craftwomanship, your patience and your love for details.. I could never! Thank you for sharing your art!
I just love your work, simply a beautiful lamp shade. i think your animals are adorable too.
I find all your videos to be relaxing and beautiful.
What fabulous piece of art . So gorgeous
*Waiting patiently for this year's Halloween video*
I haven't even gotten to the end yet, but you are INCREDIBLE!! 🤩😍🤩
Why do I keep wanting to buy everything I see in your videos ? You are such a talented, creative lady, every single piece you create seems like every gothic Victorian fangirl's dream come true !
Gosh, you learn so much more from reading the comments. It really helps to figure out where you need to go!!
20:12 oh wow, with the dyeing and the sewing and the appliqués, I did NOT expect to also see some custom embroidery in this piece! I’m thrilled. It’s one of my favorite hobbies. So relaxing and full of love in every stitch, even when my pieces or stitches aren’t perfect. Embroidery makes me feel like the world just slips behind a veil and the only thing left is a song or thought in my mind as I make those tiny motions with the needle 🪡
The way Christine makes everything seem effortless...
I have 2 huge lamps I've been dieing to recover. You are a life saver. Now I can do it.
Didn’t think it could get any better than the wallpaper...... it just did! Excellent ! 🏴
I used that lace to sew my own wedding dress! So cool to see it in a different way.
Love this reconstruction... But love the kitchen 🐕 helper even more.... He was like ...momma whatcha doin today
I love the outcome and also the fact that you decided to sew everything on can’t wait to see more your lamp shade creations
So beautiful!
All of it, the lamp, the fur babies, and of course Christine.
Must admit, I was a bit dubious when you first described what you were going to do, but I should have known it would turn out to be a masterpiece. Absolutely love the finished result! Your eye for design and attention to detail are incredible.
Absolutely breathtaking.. everything you do makes my heart smile. I just love the creepy grandma chic aspect of it all!
If you don't already, I think having a creator's mark (maybe a small ribbon that says "from the mind of Christine McConnell" in your style? And a date?) sewn into this and painted/stamped/sewn on some of your other creations would help posterity know where all these beautiful creations originated. Amazing work as always, I've been following you since I saw your Netflix show.
Stunningly beautiful.
That spider is GLORIOUS! It looks real enough to catch flies! 🕷 🕸 🪰
Your talent and patience always amazes me. This lampshade is stunning.
Pet lover and artist! Love the kittens and this amazing restoration
Beautiful job, Christine! Once again, you’ve created a masterpiece!!
Only you can make the process of hand making a lampshade look interesting. Your grace as you go about your projects is always so haunting fabulous. It is truly inspiring.
Hauntingly fabulous*
You’ve recovered the antique lampshade beautifully! I love the colors you’ve chosen, the drawing and stitching of the spider, and also how the netting comes through as a web. What a stunning lampshade, Christine! 🕸️🕷️❤️
Spectacular. Women u are marvelous. That lamp turned out stunning
Watching other RUclips video. Notification that Queen 🫅 Christine has posted. Clicks on IMMEDIATELY because YOU are EVERYTHING! The work is inspired but unmistakably yours and you somehow bring these vintage pieces to life by elevating them in a way where they still feel quite authentic yet fresh. You are quite a wonderful artist
Very cool. I also want to be childless with lots of cat. Just got 1 cat for now. The spider on the net webbing was a great touch. Beautiful lamp!
Your patience & love for projects like this always amaze me, spectacular job! 🙏🎩🕷🦇

This lamp is absolutely FANTASTIC!!!!!!!
Christine this lampshade is beyond fabulous! I love gothic style and I think putting the spider on was incredibly clever! Just gave it that extra grandness! I’ve been watching you for many years and you blow me away every time! You’re so talented..........when you say easy I know I’ll never be able to do it! I find them difficult to even image! Everything I’ve seen you do is on another level! Thank you for taking this mere mortal along for your incredible journey! I have lots of fur babies too! Couldn’t live without them! Thank you again for a wonderful video!
Lovely absolutely lovely 😍
There’s a spooky elegance to every video and I love it! Christine is so knowledgeable about every project too!
Beautiful! Love the spider! Professor Poof is adorable! ❤
I totally agree about the sewing. I crochet and sometimes I crochet appliques then attach them to a blanket or something, a lot of people glue the pieces, I tried it once but did not like the look, feel or idea that it was glued so I always sew every part. It takes a lot longer but I am so much more proud of what I have made and feel it will last for generations.
Your lampshade came out stunning.
Stunning. The arachnid embroidery is gorgeous. Just wow.
I love how whenever you start off by saying I've never done this before but it will be fine I know how to sew just always comes out like you have been doing these projects for years your so talented loves it xxx😍🥰❤😊
