@Funny Lady it's hard to imagine, but I bet Christine wasn't born with talent. She just did it a lot untill she became the master that she is and she keeps trying new things (I imagine when you already know a lot and have a lot of practice, you can always apply some skill you already have to new things). You can clearly see that she enjoys the process of making things, and that's the most important. If you start doing something and see it doesn't bring any fulfillment you can search on google and see if you can buy the stuff already made or someone to personalize it for you (if you are well off)
Me: *feeling accomplished that I organized my makeup drawer into plastic baskets from target* Christine: *decants her entire makeup collection into coordinated, antique designer containers*
About the pink tissues if you’re so determined to have them, they’re still sold in Egypt. A brand named Fine makes them in different shades like pink(strawberry scented) and light orange (peach scented) and light green. You’re welcome❤️
TYFT I'M 71 years old. This was a genormorious walk down memory lane. My mother taught me the tissue blotting trick back when I was a blooming teen. Do miss Mabellene mascara in the little red box. And the dead old lady red lipstick is my go to. Very Rita Hayworth and Breakfast at Tiffanys. Gr8
I remember cake mascara in small boxes! Still available in the early 70s. Haven't come across since. And of course the pink tissues & tp to coord with the 50s/60s pink porcelain BRs.
Well shit now we need a skincare routine! When you were talking during the intro I legit assumed you had already put foundation on and everything! Beautiful skin!
She obviously doesn't need foundation. Not one drop. Makeup ages your skin in the long run so you shouldn't wear it if you don't need it. We all need powder to set concealer, rouge etc. And there's the dilemma. Because powder may be more drying and aging than foundation, and the foundation provides a barrier between the powder and the skin. Primer may do the job without the need for foundation. I'd look into it.
If you made your own brand of vintage makeup, I would buy everything, and I know that many of us would be happy to have your complete collection, I love you since I watched you on Netflix.

You are so classically beautiful when you first came on screen you looked like you were wearing a very fresh minimal makeup look. I love that you put your makeup in those lovely antique bottles and containers. Art does not have to be reserved for picture frames and walls. The aesthetics of our everyday items as well as every single thing we choose to surround ourselves with speaks volumes about who we are. I know you agree because that's kind of your bread and butter, so to speak. I love your unique, interesting, beautiful art. Thank you for sharing.
Your beauty is timeless. Love your style and creativity. The roses and your overall vibe are beautiful and feminine. Your love for Kitties, flowers, owls and Victorian flare resonates with my spirit.
The moment I found you, I went through all your videos and I was magically teleported to this imaginary world of witches and castles.. I love your aesthetics and I think you are super talent and very beautiful.. because you make most things from scratch, I have a lot of respect for you.. I wish there were more videos.. you’ve earned yourself a new lifelong loyal fan.. ❤️❤️🙌
Not even the mirrors had a reflection of the camera, this couldn’t get any more professional! I wish I found this channel earlier you’re aesthetic is everything
Every time I watch Christine, she always reminds me to reset my timeframe and slllooowww down, enjoy the beauty of things that I’ve forgotten - those things that I’ve spent my whole life collecting! That’s why I have all these beautiful things - it was that initial caring of atheistics and the silly idea of make up in beautiful containers and enjoying the process of putting make up on, if you don’t then you’re not enjoying the journey of life and you need to re-evaluate things. That’s the glamorous part of being a girl and it’s easy to get wrapped up in everything else and forget- it feels good pampering yourself❤️
Your videos kept popping up in my recommendations, but for some reason I never clicked because I thought I wouldn't like them. Boy oh boy I was so wrong. You are a delight to watch and you have a similar magic to what the Studio Ghibli films manage to inspire, which is a love and respect for everything around you. I adore your passion for making the things around you more interesting, being crafty and recycling. I can't wait to see more of your content, particularly in a time like now where everything seems grim. I'm stuck at home but after watching your videos I'm thinking of all the craft projects I can start. Thank you and keep up the amazing work.
Since you love the vintage aesthetic, have you tried Bésame Cosmetic's cake mascara? Their whole line is vintage inspired. From the aesthetics to the colours.
What about the Cake Mascara from Besame Cosmetics? It comes in a tin as well or you can get just the refill cake so you can use your own tin. I love their vintage recreation lipsticks that are copies of real vintage colors from many eras.
Christine, love all your videos- as a professional MUA, I especially enjoyed this makeup tutorial. One little tip to make mascara from drying so quickly, is to use a few drops of saline solution. I also wash/sanitize the brush frequently as the mascara will last longer. I have also used murine- I actually prefer this as it adds a bit of lubrication. You can also use both for cake eyeliner. Your eyeliner will stay on longer than with regular water. I love the fact that you use cream blush and set it with powder. Not many know this trick. I finish my makeup with MAC Finishing Spray. In my opinion, it is the best- you always look flawless, so you don’t need to use this. With my oily skin, it is the only thing that keeps my makeup intact for up to 16 hours. I was trying to tell my Mom about you. The best way I could describe you: the most beautiful, most creative and talented person I have ever come across. Love every video you have posted. I am in awe with all you do! It all started with the video restoring your wallpaper in your California home. Thank you for sharing your life, home, your little lives and especially, your endless talent!
Firstly, of course, I have to swoon and fawn over how AMAZINGLY gifted you are. Your endless creativity and spooky glamour aesthetic are inspiring and coveted by many, myself hardly excluded. Simply put, you are adored, and I adore you. Secondly, I had an tiny idea for your mascara; since you're having trouble transferring it into a more desirable container, you could always build a new container around it! You could use old rectangular mirrors from makeup compacts to create a mirrored container and then add a little painted or sculpted symbol on the sides or the lid, or you could find a perfectly sized container to fit the mascara base and lid inside of, or even simply carve out a beautiful little wooden one yourself to fit it into....the ideas are infinite! I need not say more, as I have no doubt you'll find the perfect solution on your own--you always do. Just thought I'd add my two bloody cents. It's like I always say: if you can't lead the horse to water, drown the damn thing. *wink* Ta ta, you darling thing!
Finally someone who understands why it takes me over 4hours to do my makeup ( not including my hair) I find it very soothing to put on and lately I have lost quite a few family members and I need to really take my time and honor myself and the memories of them to take my time and prepare myself for what I have a hard time with. I have found that the more people who I loose I have a difficult time just going into the world every day and makeup helps me relax and prepare myself to go outside.
This was so relaxing to watch. I think that using the tissue to blot after applying foundation and concealer makes a lot of sense. It would absorb some product that is "sitting" on the face attached to small hairs that could stand out and appear cakey after powder. The setting spray in the antique perfume bottle is amazing I was waiting for that!! The solid perfume balm was great too. Your aesthetic is dreamlike and full of charm and mystery! 😍✨💄
I love how you do your makeup--done without being overdone (which is how I like to look), your vanity is to die for, and for the record, you are RIDICULOUSLY gorgeous even without makeup! Well done tutorial--keep 'em coming!!
Oh this was dreamy to watch! I stumbled upon you back when your Netflix show first came out - because so many people tagged me saying they thought you were me (when I had brown hair, anyway) and I've been enthralled ever since! I wish I had realized you had a RUclips channel sooner!
Wow, this entire video was such a gorgeous aesthetic. I kept getting 18th century Queen of France vibes. Wonderful attention to detail as always. I'd love to see a vintage hair tutorial as well. You always have your hair done so nicely! How to do creepy woodworking while having sorceress worthy hair.
Makeup is the one area I really take my time in as well and this was such a lovely video. I’m always in awe of the detail and care you put into everything you do. I’ve always wanted to deport some of my products into other things once I’m settled in my own house. But never thought about setting spray in an atomiser that’s genius. As usual really enjoyed this thanks Christine.
I've always admire Christine's vintage hand mirror cuz it looks beautiful and so beautiful like it's handcrafted with diamonds and a gold plated trim around the back of the mirror.
WAIT WHAAAATTT CHRISTINE HAS A RUclips CHANNEL??!! OMG YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW HAPPY I AM I LITERALLY WATCHED YOUR SHOW ON NETFLIX OVER AND OVER AGAIN I JUST LOVED IT!!
Juno Birch is amazing! I’d recommend looking at her Vogue “Extreme Beauty Routine.” There are also several other artists on that series that may appeal to you, if you enjoy eccentric or avant-garde makeup and clothing. Jaymes St. James has a series called Transformations that has an aesthetic that falls under the same sort of umbrella. Lastly, there are so many other drag queens like Trixie Mattel or Kim Chi who do amazing things with makeup. Thank you for being such a beautiful creative inspiration - I love everything about your videos.
Not to take away anything from their artist mojo but I watched Juno birch vogue and I didn’t come close to getting anything from the purple concealer etc- it was more, to me, a showcase about the extreme art that was being created- which I appreciated but I got nothing there for makeup tips. Maybe for inspiration? I don’t know. Lisa Eldridge - on the other hand, she had really good tips.
Silvergirl7 That’s a pretty reasonable response I’d say. I think if you’re looking for creative and interesting ways people wear makeup, Juno Birch is a good channel for you. If you’re looking for tips on how to do your makeup, you’re right, those channels might not be as useful. I really like Robert Welsh for realistic, everyday makeup tips, and everyone will have their own preferences, but I think there’s something for everyone out there.
this was so wonderful to watch! almost like a ghibli movie about a sorceress who is from the 1800s living life in the present. v magical ALSO OMG WE STAN JUNO BIRCH!

Your love for Kitties, flowers, owls and Victorian flare resonates with my spirit.
your hair looks absolutely amazing in this video! if you ever decide on a beauty video again, please do a hair tutorial! love from Brazil ❤
I can't believe I just watched a 25 minute make up tutorial. I have no interest in makeup but I love this channel.
Christine and melt makeup eyeshadow/lipstick collab would be AMAZING!!!
I CANNOT STAND HER SHE IS STUNNING SHE IS TALENTED ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
You are naturally beautiful Christine. And I love the colour of your eyes .
no one is doing it like you Christine!!
I was completely mesmerized through this whole tutorial.
Me too, what an experience
*wink*
Ta ta, you darling thing!
While watching your tutorial I feel like I am in the french princesses’s dress room. AMAZING 💙💙💙
Christine is georgeous without or with makeup .. She is simply a lovely lady .. Beautiful inside n out ⚘
Something about your videos makes me feel so comfortable and something ...nostalgic, such a cozy feeling. You’re absolutely brilliant.
*Seamlessness*
Giving me John Maclean vibes.
How do you say Goddess without sounding arrogant? 😉 My favourite (slightly altered) quote.
I remember tissues like those pink ones! I remember we used to have peach coloured ones occasionally!
Dear Christine, you are absolutely gorgeous!
You skin looks so nice and glowy without makeup, and I also am amazed by your makeup skill! Thanks for the nice distraction :)
You are annoyingly beautiful with or without makeup. I love all of the ideas! Thank you!
I've always admire Christine's vintage hand mirror cuz it looks beautiful and so beautiful like it's handcrafted with diamonds and a gold plated trim around the back of the mirror.
Christine, you make "dead old lady" colors look so good!
Try Hungry. That’s an aesthetic that simply is to behold.
I feel like if she ever has kids, her kids will be growing in up in such a mysterious fun house full of surprises. Love her work!
Christine, i have been binge watching your videos. They are a breath of fresh air from all the craziness around thank you! 🙂❤
She gives me lady dimitrescu vibes!!! “somebody has taken my custom lipstick” 😍
Thank you for this! You look stunning both with and without make up. Also, those lamps in your room are everything!
I never ever considered subscribing to a patron before but WOMAN! That aesthetic is epoustouflante.
this was so wonderful to watch! almost like a ghibli movie about a sorceress who is from the 1800s living life in the present. v magical ALSO OMG WE STAN JUNO BIRCH!
I have that exact same Menda hand mirror in pink. I have the smallpowder box, large powder box, and lotion dispenser as well. They're such neat little treasures
Me, in real live, saw someone had a handcuff laying around in their bedroom : well, im running, see ya never want to meet ya👋👋😌
Me, see Christine had a vanity that had 2 handcuff hanging on them : well, that's sooo like her🤣🤣
Makeup as a cover up, a mask, an expression or just an every day thing..I'M INTO IT!!!!!!!
Can I just say that you look absolutely stunning, even natural without makeup. You make your technique look so effortless, and your antique containers are beautiful. I’m waiting for you to start a shop so that I can order your handmade items. Your artistry reminds me of the next valuable collectibles; heirlooms to pass down to future generations.
No no no! I’m literally dying, I love your show on Netflix I literally like re-watch it like every other week, i’m so glad you have a platform here where you can share ideas thoughts and techniques! Tallyfrosh balls! Absolutely love you thank you for being here! ✨🦢🕊🔥✨🤟🏼🧿♥️
Well timed video! Quarantine has allowed me to be quite experimental with my makeup (no fear of failure as no one will see it anyway).
All those antique containers are so gorgeous! The additional personal touches were cute too!
Christine is my absolute favorite. She makes the macabre look classy. How she creates, how she films. Everything Is so incredible.
You need to do a hair tutorial sometime, these big romantic buns you wear are so incredible looking
I agree, I'm starvingly waiting for your hair tutorial Cristine McConnell!!
I could watch Christine McConnell all day doing her makeup and artform... She just makes everything come to life from olden times but is so elegant about it.
Awesome vibes and filming 😭 felt truly magical
Love the shoutout to our beloved alien queen Juno Birch!
This is probably the first creator I see that actually makes me want to join patreon and support the creators. And I just might!
Also watch her show on Netflix!
Christine, you're GORGEOUS --- with or without makeup! :)
Really nice episode. So much more relaxing than most other make up tutorials and subtle make up too. I never was a face painter, more of a dabber. I love the eye shadow set you used and loved seeing them all put into the antique cases. Loved those lamps too.
I would LOVE a hair tutorial for this! You exude beauty in so many ways!
