In my first episode I transform a 1970's pull-out couch (purchased on Craigslist) into an Edwardian Style sofa (While keeping the pull-out feature).
With enough support on Patreon, I plan to post a new episode once monthly; featuring things like baking, sewing, building & Holiday decorating projects!
Patreon Subscribers will receive an additional exclusive episode each month plus extra bonuses. Your Patreon subscription is what makes this series possible, so if you are able to sign up, please do... I promise to make it well worth your while :D

theres nothing more powerful and badass than a woman in pink jeans doing the impossible with a jigsaw in her hands what a QUEEN
Yes! *bows down*
yes there is ... the same woman in pink jeans taking a $100 beater couch and spending a few hundred dollars to make a couch worth several thousand dollars ;)
Yep. I wish more women were like this.
not bad a$$, much class. bad a$$ is on the way out. and much class is on the way in.
The hands, forearms, Adams apple, hips all tell a different story.
She’s so mesmerizing to watch ❤️ NETFLIX REALLY FUCKED UP by not renewing her series. BIG MISTAKE. BIG. HUGE! - Vivian Ward aka Julia Roberts
Oscar Parrilla agreed. It was original and interesting and a lot of people watched it. I loved it.
Agreed
TOTALLY AGREE!!!
BIG mistake! HUGE!
Oscar Parrilla i- i was waiting for it on Netflix.. i loved it! So it‘ll never come back to Netflix?
“Upholstery is a little outside of my comfort zone” -proceeds to make the most beautiful couch I’ve ever seen
teacupika the wood carving literally brought a tear to my eye. She’s my Queen forever
Don't be afraid to try things. Even if it doesn't turn out, you'll still learn new skills along the way. Before you know it, you'll be surprising yourself at what you are capable of :)
this made me LOL. Cause IKR.
hence the "little" part :P
But joking aside, you don't know until you try. The "I like to challenge myself" motto works wonders for developing skills. Certainly compared to the "I'm convinced I can't do any of this and rather swoon at endless RUclips videos that prove it can be done" philosophy.
One which I, sad to admit, also hold to too many times. The few times I didn't, I've actually brought a tear to my ówn eye out of accomplishment and much better than expected results.
Also note she said the color didn't work with the room 😂 completely redoes the whole thing into the most amazing couch
She's a cross between Tim Burton and Martha Stewart and I'm totally here for it
Tim Burton and Martha Stewart had a baby...Christine McConnell
and Snow White! LOL!
if morticia addams and martha stewarts had a love child.
How perfectly apt!
You're like the love child of Morticia Addams and Martha Stewart ❤
I literally JUST said this to my friend!
Never heard a better comparison, she's so fantastic!
I was thinking Morticia Addams and the New Yankee Workshop myself. 🤭
This is accurate.
I came here to say this
My jaw dropped a few inches closer to the floor every two minutes. "I love this part of any project because I get to sit down and relax," she says as she carves individual scales onto her custom wooden snakes ! ! ! ! ! Someone give this person a gd medal.
💐🎖🍾
“Out of your comfort zone” says the woman who built a sofa like she’s been doing it her whole life. The woodwork detail is incredible!!
How are you so good at EVERYTHING?! Sewing, woodworking, sketching & carving. You're a goddess!
Just being a woman. Not being limited by a gender definition.
When she was done upholstering i was like wow! Well done! but then she started with the wood accents and at that point my jaw dropped. Wtf how are you so multi-talented?
Right, how is she so super talented like what brought it all together? How did she learn it all? How did she know she wanted to be skilled at everything?
So many talents and have so many amazing skills? Like was she just born with it or is it witchcraft lol. I have never meant someone like her! Like they don't exist out here in the real world! Or maybe just in my world?
@@irenecantu5436 It's your world haha I know plenty of people that have multiple talents and I come from a family of them. Painting, sewing, baking, cooking, drawing, sculpting, crocheting, knitting, furniture, building, farming, gardening, you name it. Go explore!
Gods gifts of talent
@@irenecantu5436 I think she's the most talented, creative person ever born. I just sit here stunned watching her!
@@cherylmarie8100 Liziqi Channel....same talent as Christine.
Christine McConnell makes me want to DIY my entire house from cellar to steeple. Not that my house has a steeple, but I'd friggin make one.
I'm sure Christine could show you how to make a steeple
@@athenasweeney2884 *Not sure if innuendo or noooooot*
Do it! Take photos!
Paige Guilbeau lmao! 😂😂💕
Ahhh this is why I want to own a house already :(
Dear RUclips algorithm writers: thank you for having this woman land in my feed.
Christine lives in the home of my teenage fantasies. My inner baby goth is so happy right now. 🕷
The artistry of everything she does is absolutely incredible
Can we just appreciate for a second what a genius Christine is?! Everything she makes is so stunning!
All while wearing a cashmere sweater and ballet flats no less!!!
So glad you're back!!! Possibly controversial opinion here, but this is so much better than your Netflix show. I miss all your puppet friends but this format feels more genuine and more intimate. Its great to see your gorgeous face and crafts without the strange gloss of commercialized TV production. Also - i feel like now you can get to do whatever you want without formatting it to some narrative.
Edit: Also your real pets are so wonderful!!!!
I agree! I love her work but the puppets made the show feel so strange and a little cringey.
@@ALYSSAISTHEBESTWOO Honestly the puppets are the reason I didn't watch it. Cringey is exactly how I felt about a puppet-based show haha. But I love these videos! Goth/Vintage Martha Stewart is the kind of content I am here for!
Personally I thought the use of puppets was great, it was original, strange and charming. The Rose puppet especially made me laugh out loud many times.
@@talgun6334 only 1 season, Sad they didn't renew for another season.
I agree! I watched a few episodes of the Netflix show and this RUclips channel is way better! It may be because you have complete and creative control. I’m not sure, but I love this channel and I wish you all the best!
As much as I loved the Netflix series, I gotta say that I'm really loving Christine's series here! There's something about watching her take on these projects in her casual clothes, often working in socks and having her pets in the background that makes me feel the love and passion she has for her craft. Keep up the good work! I look forward to watching all your videos!
I swear, the beauty, the intelligence, the planning, I adore this woman and her crafting
I think this is better than your Netflix show. Just show-casing your talents and enjoying the artistry without distractions
DodoSzabo totally agree!! I would have loved the Netflix show more without all the nonsense!
AGREED!! I wasn't into the raccoon/ skunk bit ... or the porn style acting
100% if this is what the Netflix show was, I would have watched it more than once. As it was, I couldn't even make it all the way through the series.
Totally agree. I love The Henson Company, but having dead animals and monsters with cheesy writing was all just unfunny and unnecessary. This format is so so so much better. I’m glad she is continuing on here-her work is incredible!
Don't misunderstand, I watched the show through twice, it was so unique. But that was down to Christine, I think Netflix lost a gem in her. She doesn't need sidekicks (except maybe Dita) she's hilarious all on her own, I laughed so much at the camera man bit! I think this series is going to be incredible
It makes me so pissed that Netflix didn’t renew your series! I feel like it was really fun and watched!!
Night Shade
What's it called?
@@Nada.AlShingiti "The Curious Creations of Cristine McConnell"
Catherine Semanek
Thanks
Nooooo it wasn’t renewed? :(
Emma Cassady sadly it wasn’t! I guess Netflix thought their stupid other originals were more important(swiped and whatever else)
Everything about Christine is downright amazing, but my favorite thing is when her voice breaks just a tiny bit. It's soooo cute! She just seems cool, talented, quirky and yet still down-to-earth, so I think she's a great role model for all us spooky types. She proves you don't have to wear all black or be mean to be a darkly whimsical icon! Even though I liked the puppets and the costumes on Netflix, I think she really shines brightest as the only star of the show. So glad to see our favorite artist on youtube!
The talent and skill on display here is RIDICULOUS
YESSSS I loved your series on Netflix and seeing you make more stuff again gives me so much inspiration!!!!
Killer Toons What was the name of her series?
Kim's She Shop The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell on Netflix!
Thank you💖
I would, literally, watch this woman eat a bowl of cereal and still be mesmerized by her....
yes she is quite beautiful ... she has only one problem though ..... she is NOT single ;)
I really hope she works on people's houses one day and redecorates everything!!! I would definitely call her. She is so so so talented. Just pure gothic art
I would LOVE to watch that!
What I like, about watching your videos, is that you show many women that have probably never held a power tool, that a woman can do it too! As someone who was a construction worker, watching you use the Dewalt just makes me miss it so much!
Martha Stewart: today we will make some pillow cover
Christine Mcconnell: hold my drill
Omg 😂
Also:
MS: Next we'll press the linens for a crisp look
CM: Now that the skin is all pulled off, we'll work with the skeleton.
Josh Catchur -PPPPFFTT ! Perfect !!!
Tephikat, I'm dying! Love it!
Hey Amazon! Pick up Christine's show, Netflix totally dropped the ball here! Great to have you back Christine!
How is she so damned handy, talented, AND fabulous?!
She's insanely talented.
HOW IS SHE SO GOOD AT EVERYTHING? she's clearly powered by some sort of magic.
I am so excited to see you're still making content after Netflix let us all down by not picking up a second season. You're inspirational.
wait WHAT? I just discovered her channel and this is the first video I've seen. There was a series on Netflix?
@@KellyBeth yeah, The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell or something like that. It's short, and you will want more, but it's amazing. It's all baking stuff too
She was making content before the show too
Just checked it out and didn't even finished the first episode. Her RUclips though is amazing.
You could run the most amazing bed and breakfast!! I'm always in awe at the creations you bring to life.
Judith Young my thoughts exactly!
A B&B where you learn to do amazing house and baking ideas!? EEEE!!!
@@p.echegaray2049 I would so go to that B&B
Omg. That would be the best weekend b&b!
oh wow. i can’t even imagine meeting Christine.
Christine, you are a modern day treasure.
A true renaissance woman. I was entranced watching her dremel the individual scales into the serpent wood accents. Gives me chills to watch her work come to life. Way an exceptional artist. Would die to be her "caged cameraman" I'm sure she feeds him?
You are the goth Martha Stewart. Any chance you would undertake a creepy fairy garden?!
Oh yes! Please i would love to see that too
Or a Poison Garden. One of my future projects, actually.
YES a creepy fairy garden with homemade figurines and houses
I love this idea 💜
My GOD WOMAN!! You are SO TALENTED! All that beautiful carving was how you "sit back and relax"??!! LOL.... AMAZING! 💖
This. Is. Insaaaaane! Makes me want to take up woodworking, buy a sewing machine, and go thrifting immediately. All the crafty things. You're incredibly talented!
I can't wait for more videos. She makes homemaking seem glamorous again
I swear I died and then I heard your voice telling me to bring myself back and watch your video first. My life has meaning again.
This is really a better space for you Christine, it gives you the freedom to explore a wider world of design and making. Look forward to new projects with your unique style.
Omfg! I want her to do my entire home? This is the coolest house I have ever seen! My black heart swells!
Have never felt so inadequate about crafting in my life until I discovered this channel! :)
Omg yay!!! You're back!!! This video totally made my night. Fell in love with your aesthetic through your Netflix series & was heartbroken when they cancelled it. So glad to see new content from you. One video a month is sadly not enough for us die hard fans. Who do we need to talk to in order to have your content at least once a week???
Christina Williamson support her on patreon!!
Christina Williamson : Also maybe tweet heartbroken sobs to Netflix en masse?
I feel like her projects probably take much longer than a week for her to make!
She's magic. Anything that she touches she just turns it into a piece of art. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I wish Netflix would bring you back, you are amazing!!! you are the woman I wanted to be
Three years later am seeing this.... They do say good things come to those who wait and by god it was worth the wait ❤️. Absolutely exquisite loved everything about it ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Straight up, that looked like a prop right off a Tim Burton film. Incredible work. I hope you sent a picture to the original owner after you finished, that would have blown their mind.
Oh, yeah, liked and subbed.
Spooky Carpentry is really my favorite kind, pet cameos a must.
GOD I AM SO UNDENYABLY IN LOVE WITH CHRISTINE MCCONNELL
Observing your work (your passion) is truly healing to witness. Your work is legendary.
This was stunning. I truly enjoyed the Netflix series but this is a whole other level of amazing.
Kathleen What was the name of her series?
Kim's She Shop the curious creations of christine mcconnell
Kathleen Thank you💖
I’m literally sitting here wondering how in my years studying fashion and following macabre and DIY, I HAVE NEVER COME ACROSS YOU BEFORE?!
Mesmerising, articulate and incredibly creative and talented 💕
She can do anything. And she’s gorgeous, and sweet, and has the voice of a Disney Princess. Oh and the most bouncy hair ever. My Queen, I ❤️you
This lady is so creative. Unbelievable!
I am SO excited for this series! Not to sound like a creep, but I really cannot get enough Christine McConnell in my life! If we aren’t getting a new season of The Curious Creations, this is a great consolation prize!🖤🖤🖤
This is a marvelous project! I'm so delighted that there is a new avenue to enjoy your works on a regular basis. That fact the Curious Creations wasn't renewed was an absolute travesty.
butter knife - the ultimate multi-purpose tool : D
Yup, they have always been my flathead screw driver . hahaha
Absolutely fascinating to watch the creative process!!! Who'd have "thunk" that Grandma's pullout sleeper sofa could've transformed into such an elegant piece of furniture that looks completely vintage with a macabre twist?!?!?
Congrats on the web series! It's great that you took the lead on producing your own video content. I love that you didn't just reupholster the couch; you completely transformed it. The addition of the wooden snake elements are amazing!
Man who needs "This Old House" when you've got "This Old Couch"?
Lol.... ;-) You said it.
Christine McConnell, you are truly an inspiration! You have so much creativity and talent!
Christine is obviously an artist... skill level 💯
She seriously needs to come out with her own clothing line! I love love love her style! It’s like a sexy modern vintage style! She is so beautiful 😍 I would totally buy everything in her line! 🙏🏼 please make it happen!!!
Having lived through the Stepford Wives decades and say, m'eh , but I see the attraction for the younger generations. I rocked the 20's to the 40's when I was in my youth. There was no goth back then. hahaha
There’s a retired line of very romantic, frilly clothing that used to be carried at malls designed by Jessica McClintock (do Scottish women just know more about romantic clothing?). It was called Gunne Sax. They were gorgeous and very similar to the style Christine favors, and you can still find them in vintage clothing stores, but be prepared to pay dearly - a lot of modern women have fallen in love with them, too. A note of interest: Hillary Clinton wore a Gunne Sax dress for her wedding.
Did I seriously just watch you basically build a couch? Beautiful and talented beyond belief...is there anything you can't do?
I wish Netflix would have continued the series .
I'm from Germany and I enjoy your crafty ideas .
I'm so happy I found this Channel.
I cosplay and enjoying watching your videos while working on my own projects .
:) Thanks and please continue:)
This woman is WICKEDLY Talented !!!!
OKAY HONEY! Coming out the gate with her jigsaw. Love that couch it's giving me all the house Slytherin vibes.
As a recent Netflix subscriber, I was surprised and disappointed to learn that your show on Netflix was cancelled after enjoying the 1st season's shows so much. I am delighted, though, to learn that you are now on RUclips, and I signed up as a Patreon subscriber to enjoy an additional exclusive video each month. Thank you, Christine!
That pullout couch transformation was fantastic!!!
You know when you watch a DIY and think you may be able to do that? Yeah that never happens when i watch you. The longer i watched the more I'm convinced that you have some special powers or something. Your talent is unfathomable and you continuously take my breath away. I'm in awe of you. you're just magnificent
Wish I was as driven in projects as you, constantly getting halfway through D.I.Y projects, then they're left unfinished for eternity
Same tho.
Much same. I got a kitchen remodel 80% finished for the last 9 months...
Totally, I get to a certain point and say "good enough!" and quit right there.😐
I so loved the Netflix show and I really think they made a mistake not renewing it. I’m so excited to watch your spooky craftiness again. Anyone else miss the raccoon??
Even if I had your creativity, I would still need your talent, skill, attention to detail, and most importantly, patience! You are truly unique and wonderful! 💕
everything about this woman is aesthetically pleasing.
We need to have more women like you to be stinkin' famous!
I canceled Netflix's tired reruns. I'll pay Christine on Patreon and get a Halloween card. All good.
I cant wait for netflix to see her Sub count and view count soar! I hope she makes good money off RUclips, the content is advertiser friendly and this way she can make more content too :)
Lucky Lex so true. I can’t wait to see what she does. She now has more control of content and production. She’s amazing!!!!!
And she doesn't have to be told what to do by netflix!!
AND ITS A PULLOUT! it’s like finding the perfect dress & realizing it has pockets
Dear diary: Today I fell in love. With a woman... and her couch.
Holy Toledo! That's amazing, Christine! I especially love the carvings and kitty cameos. 🐈😍
You are the most amazing and creative person I have ever seen on U Tube. No one is more creative than you are....such a very very talented lady you are...your work is exquisette...spelled wrong I am sure but you get what I am saying. Thank you for sharing.
U are a very patient woman for creating all of this with such details
You are a TRUE artist!
My partner and I just finished binge-watching your Netflix show, and now I’m heartbroken to learn that the show wasn’t renewed. But! Here you are on RUclips, working your magic at home, with 100% alive critters (we’re gonna miss the not-so-mortal ones, but Rose and Edgar and the others will always be in our dark hearts). I’m so excited, and can’t wait to go on this creative journey every month!
the amount of patience u have is astonishing
I love her aesthetic. The perfect combo of vintage and spooky. This is so inspiring to watch. Now I’m eyeing my couch
How could Netflix let go of such rare talent?!?!? I am so mesmerised by everything she does.
I could watch her change a roll of toilet paper and be amazed! Something so calming about her and her creations are so under rated
Lady, I did not know you existed! What you have done here is so me. I have reupholstered antique chairs and recently restored an 80-year old Ironing Board Cabinet salvaged from an Victorian farmhouse. This was incredibly mesmerizing to watch and so awesome to see more women doing restoration of vintage-antique pieces. Now a subscriber.👏👏👏
how does she look so BEAUTIFUL and CHILL whilst UPHOLSTERING A COUCH how is that even physically possible??!!
you don't just create things, you create an atmosphere. Well done, can't wait for more
Talent! I don't think I'll have any business saying "I don't need a man" until I've acquired even half the skills Christine has under her handcrafted tool belt
Everything she touches becomes gold
This woman is a genius!
would personally like to thank the recommended section for hitting the nail so firmly on the head with this video suggestion 😍
Why isn't this monetized! RUclips needs to get on this amazing series that's starting!
Alix Moore youtube can keep their grabby money hungry hands off of this, the people who love it should use her patreon to support her directly imo.
I am in awe of the great patience you have with yourself and the overall artistic process. You are an artist and visionary! So inspiring! 💓🌎
She took grandma’s old sofa and made it look... older... in a much better way. Incredible.
This is possibly the coolest thing I have ever seen on RUclips.
Wow! You always take things to the next level and have me rethinking how far I can challenge myself. I did an awful job of reupholstering a chair many years ago. Now I want to try again, this time with hand-carved details. Amazing! Can't wait to see what's next! 😁💕🧵✂️📍🔍
Shame on you, Netflix. You screwed up. Please keep making these, Christine. We love you.
Oh my god! She actually did THAT!
Also that garden is beautiful!
