- We were messing about with flankers, till I decided to hop on in to the J-11 for the first time, same difference as the SU-27 right?
In anycase, I managed to somehow score a bunch of kills without dying, but boy did they try!

That guy pulling onto the runway shows the difference between players with and without headtracking or VR. The standard FOV is so narrow, he didn't have any idea until you were right there.
@ckatlinga agree. I have 1500H dcs experience without Track IR i can see anything.
TrackIR has nothing to do with it. You can still look around without it. The guy is just a typical public server player, they act like they are in single player and don't care about proper runway procedures.
To be fair, the other end is the usual active on there. On the other hand, I gave up the other day after watching 3 of my teammates crash into each other on it and getting teamkilled by an ACM Phoenix. Special mention to the dude who tried to show off by pulling a cobra over the runway, but ripped his wings and left a big smoking hole in it instead. Bless red.
Honestly starting to think I should fly from Beslan instead, just to avoid the mess that is Tbilisi, and approach the usual conga line in the mountains from the side.

That intro perfectly shows what public servers are all about. No one calls inbound, no one requests landing, no one requests startup or taxi, no one requests takeoff, no one checks the runway on takeoff or landing. Everyone just acts like they're the only one on the server, like they're still in single player.

Datalink is a game changer here....
It is both realistic, and balances things. The hornet and tomcat have DL as well.
So two videos in short succession means extra long break now, right? Great flying!

yesterday an su27 driver did the same, enters runway while i'm rolling. fortunately the f-14's a rocket ship and I was airborne over his canopy without him even noticing. people need to start using srs more.
or just use their eyes and communications menu and stop acting like they're in single player and the only one playing.

to be fair, they're pretty easy to fly if you don't feel like being in the most button-mapping of moods. (at least I discovered this when actually trying the flanker with a joystick the works recently, lol)
I'd love to play in the Hoggit GaW server but all I can get is a black screen after connecting. Training server it is for me

Thanks for the uploads recently Ralfi. I know you prefer TrackIR over VR but have you seen the new HP Reverb Pro quality? Looks amazing! Just wish we didn't have to turn our head all the way around to check 6.
Yes, and I'm keeping an eye out, but the problem is that I would use VR for other things, like getting games on STEAM. HP does not play nicely with that and could be problematic. So in the end you could be missing out on a lot. I'll wait to see what the other guys will be like coming out in a few months.

J-11 and SU-27 must be the most powerful aircraft in DCS rn
nah, not by a long shot, but they are very decent and dangerous.
I disagree it has the advantages of low workload, FC3 Bullshittery and Magic IFF. It's simple compared to say the Hornet, especially being as AMRAAMS are completely busted rn
Low workload != better, having less to do in the cockpit really limits the bird's potential, no way to fine-tune the radar, no BRA readings from the SA etc. Really, the way Ralfi has his bird configured is pretty much the same as a Hornet as the J-11 can use the R-77, bootleg amraams.
Hornet benefits from it's full fidelity in letting pilots know literally everything they need about bandits in the AO, as soon as they are illuminated by a radar from AWACS or a Hornet, that bandit's BRA is broadcasted to everything with a link-16.
In the end, this is a simulator, where a pilot's skills matter way more than an aircraft's abilities.
@@Arlios you don't need to fine tune the radar because it's not even simulated, the datalink is more than enough to be competitive with the Hornets. The Amraam is completely fucked it notches itself and goes lag pursuit

What makes the J-11 different from the Russian SU series? I always wondered why I see most people flying the J-11 over it's Russian counterpart.

YellowFox Fox 1 is semi-active radar, Fox 2 is heatseeking, and Fox 3 is active radar
Fox 1 = Semi active, need to keep the plane locked up in your radar.
Fox 2 = IR guided. Fire and forget, will lock onto the hottest thing it can find. Hopefully an enemy.
Fox 3 = Active self radar guided missile. Fire and forget and it will go after whatever target you locked up before launching.

11:19 That's an AIM-9 and AIM-120
Pretty sure both are AIM-9x. Both have dark grey nose with tail and nose fins. 120C has a white nose and larger fins with the forward set in the middle of the body.
@@Power5 one is definitely a 120. Slowed the video down then paused it exactly when they are infront of him. One is a 9x due to its skinny nature the other is the same thickness as a 120
You make wanna boot up the game and fly all the Russian birds in FC3. Always overlooked them in favor of the A10a and F15. Not to mention full fidelity modules.
Last time I tried the MIG29, blacked out instantly after pushing the stick full forward. You dont get that negative Gs in other planes.
They're not easy to fight in, but if you master them you'll soon be feared :>
