For over half a century, the aircraft corporation Boeing has been the sole provider for all of the head of state’s air transportation needs. Originally initiated with the first overseas presidential flight taken by Franklin Roosevelt in 1943 to Casablanca, the Boeing B-314 “Dixie Clipper” is considered to be history’s introduction to Air Force One. In the late 1950s, the company built the first plane dedicated to serving the commander-in-chief with the development of the Boeing VC-137A. It debuted under the term of Dwight Eisenhower with a 19-day maiden voyage across 11 nations. Currently, the pair of jets serving as Air Force One are extremely customized Boeing 747-200B models and were purchased under the Reagan administration. With production of the plane long since ended, the need for new presidential planes has only gotten more serious with each new presidency. And so, under the Obama administration, two Boeing 747-8 models were commissioned to be converted to airbound presidential command centers. Since taking office, though, President Trump has made numerous modifications to this order, claiming to try to lower costs, and the total price and completion date have yet to be seen.

Lots of planes have "Rolls-Royce branded" engines, and they're not "branded" in the first place, Rolls is a huge jet engine manufacturer, fool.
President Eisenhower's "Columbine II" Presidential aircraft was a Lockheed (not Boeing) VC-121A-LO Constellation. (I learned this from my "Weekly Reader" when I was in elementary school many thousands of years ago.) The "Columbine I" had been General Eisenhower's personal transport when he was in the Army.

I do believe that the usaf does spread the contract between GE and PW. BUT, P&W I don't think bid their engines for the 747-8. I think the tanker (767 airframe) does both
KC-46 and C-17 uses Pratt and Whitney, the C-5M has General Electric. There are no American military aircraft with Rolls Royce engines.

Elijah Robinson Also shows picture of the E4 nightwatch plane. But than again “Air Force” isn’t a plane but a call sign. Guess a C130 can also technically be “Air Force one” or any other place for that matter if the president is on board. Not just the VC25 pair.

2:01: that's the previous AF1, VC-137B, which is a 707. Not the current 747-200B conversions known as VC-25A

Truman's plane was a Lockheed Constellation not built by Boeing. Eleanor Roosevelt flew in a converted Consolidated B-24 Liberator. The Commemorative Airforce owns it. JFK used a DC-6/7 before switching to the Boeing 707. The DC-6 is on display at the Pima Air Museum.
The part about the jet planes being up in midair while refilling the air force one with more gas, was something I have never knew about before, how interesting is that!

Be aware that ANY aircraft that the Current President occupies is Air Force One. While the two 747's tail numbers 28000 & 29000 are the primary aircraft used for AF1 missions it could be a Cessna 152 if the President were aboard.
NO, only Air Force aircraft can be called Air Force One. This is explained in the video accurately with the exception of them leaving out Executive One.

Air Force 1 is the crew, not the plane.
In Number 9, you state that FDR was the first to use a Presidential aircraft, but you show a photo of FRD's cousin and President Theodore Roosevelt, who had already dies by the time FDR took office. Both Truman and Eisenhower used a Super Constellation as their aircraft. The Presidential vehicles are transported on a Lockheed/Martin C-5M transport, not a Japanese C-130 in the video.

@@MetroDoc-he8zdThe 89th Airlift Wing at Joint Base Andrews does not have either a C-50 or a C-17 on it's flight roster, if these are needed, they'd be assigned from Joint Base Dover just about an hour away in Delaware, and since the President's detail uses about 20 vehicles, they take spares with them, the C-5M would be the preferred aircraft. When the President visited Great Britain last year the C-5M unloaded the vehicles, then flew onto Ramstein AB in Germany, the video is on RUclips.
@@Chuck59ish Not denying the C-5's are not used, especially on international trips which require more vehicles. But I believe domestically, a C-17 handles the needs, at least that's what I've seen various times at my airport before AF1 comes to town.

I can promise you that the Air-Force One project is/was no where near even 1 trillion, as the entire B-2 program was less than 50 billion dollars, with each aircraft costing only 1.2 billion, and 21 or so were built with one crashing.

You're absolutely right! We mistakenly omitted the fact that this 8.1 trillion was over 12 years from 2015 to 2026. The 2019 defense budget is about $686 billion.

There is a number that I always keep in mind, and that number is our country’s GDP, which stands at approximately $19.4T (latest reported figure, although recent estimates put 2019 full-year at approximately $20.2T).
It makes for a good reference point when researching/sharing exceptionally large figures. That would’ve been a quick way to debunk that annual defense budget of $8.1T. While we still outspend China and the rest of the world on defense, in no way would that number be approximately 42% of GDP (our ‘thirst’ for debt aside).

Let's not forget the sniper platforms they pull out of the aircraft. President Trump landed at my base about a year ago, and I thought it was pretty cool that there is somewhere for snipers to scope the area. Engine 4 was also left idling the entire (multiple hours) duration of being parked, presumably for a fast engine start and take-off.

*I have absolutely no idea when, or where from this information was obtained, but much of it was ridiculously out of date as of February 2018, let alone 2019. It's quite amusing nevertheless. We particularly enjoyed some of the staged photographs, a couple of which weren't even taken aboard AF1. Best of all though, so high tech it even has a fax machine! Two error found! Only watched till 6:06. They don’t use C-130’s for the transport but rather C-17’s. And Defense Budget is about $686B.
