Me who had NO IDEA on what you were referring to with the “controversy”, but I hate how people get all pissy over diverse body types and races. Like not everyone is built the same. everyone’s unique in their own way, and if you gettin all fussed over someone’s body type, you got a lot you need to work on yourself. Heavens forbid humans and art are all unique.
But good on you for making them all look different, as a black person it always makes me smile seeing other artists make characters similar to me, you killed it with the redesigns as always! Look forward to more videos you make! ☺️

@@pentagrin4157I can definitely see that being the case, a lot of people like those sorts only want exaggerated versions of people that they see in they heads. It’s real sad, like damn sorry for existing and being different I guess?
And that’s not to denounce all bronies in any way! The ones I met are genuinely really nice peoples, but man is there some real rotten eggs that really mess with that moniker.
And I just know that all them negative people is projecting, real miserable types😒
Also, a big part of character design especially for animation is distinct silhouettes! Everyone having the same body type makes them blend together, and become totally indistinguishable if they change their hair/outfits/are cast in shadow/etc. It’s just good design to give them varying body types

Pinkie looks so cute!! I hate it when people complain about when characters like Pinkie are given fuller bodytypes. It’s nonsense. People are diverse, not everyone is skinny, or medium. it also works with Pinkie’s character wonderfully imo- she’s huggable and soft and bubbly! Like a warm pastry
Not to mention that they’re fucking ponies lol They don’t have races. They have different body shapes (as ponies), sure, but that doesn’t mean much either. I hate that people try to put everyone in the same box and have everyone make the same creative choices or have the same vision. One of my biggest art community pet peeves.

@@iknowwhatyouare102 the only hint we got at body types was that fluttershy might have been the skinny tall type when she was like 10. It's just pastel horses, everyone's vision on their potential skin color or shape or clothing style is equally valid, even if it's different from the common interpretation.

I adore Applejack, making her darker skin tone would make alot of sense as she's a farmer/cowgirl, so she would spend alot of time outside, so she'd be tanned by the sun.
Also chubby Pinkypie is adorable, this coming from a chubby girl. We need more realistic body types.
Love that you’re trying out to draw different body types! It’s such a useful way to have different silhouettes and to just differ characters from each other.
Though, as somebody who is chubby (and actually is about the same body type as Pinkie) please do consider necks! It bugs me a little when characters have a plus size body but from shoulder up still look like everyone else. People don’t just get fat on their belly but their cheeks, necks and wrists too (thank you so much for giving her chubby arms)
Still though, you did a great job, her body type is pretty much exactly mine so hell yeah! Keep at it!!

Im not trying to disagree with you, you are right that generally weight affects things like the neck and wrists/ hands as well
But i just wanna point out, that it's bossible to just gain weight on the belly and thigh area for the most part
Cuz thats pretty much what i look like, i am obese but the upper half of my body really doesnt look like it!
The disconnect between my lower and upper body actually looks ridiculous as hell! :'D

I think what people don’t get is that bodytypes are also used in shape language. People who are heavier have round shapes which is seen as friendly and soft. It fits her personality. Why don’t people get it?

I never actually watched much MLP, but from the little I've seen, Applejack is one of my faves! Especially when thinking of what she'd look like as a human she's just got big flannel lesbian energy
Edit: Pinkie Pie is SO cute! I would love to take her to a Joker Out concert and draw hearts on each other with lash glue and filling them in with loose cosmetic glitter... I think she'd enjoy the chaos of that

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting you to bring up Pinkie being fat. I thought it was normal because I saw other artists depict her that way. Also, there are plenty of fat people out there who have friends and are very joyous. Glad you touched on that topic!! Hope to see more redesigns!!

Me, who lives in the U.S. PNW and has seen numerous highschool classmates and one of my tradeschool classmates wear a cowboy hat to school, just cause they like it: Where... Where do you live??? Where do you live where you haven't seen a single person wear a cowboy hat to school??? Not once???????????? Are there zero farmer boys where you live???????? They're just like. A Nice Hat. They're good against sun. And an agricultural student is the EXACT kind of person I'd expect to wear a cowboy hat to class.

Here at the beginning at Pinkie's redesign, yes she would have fat it fits her, she probably also would be shorter and also a ball of energy that bounces around her friends

I'm dead serious I don't think I've ever seen a Pinkie redesign where she didn't have a fuller body type.(unless you count when people just recolor and image of her equestria girl design) It seemed like there was a fandom consensus about the funny baker chick being thick(do people still say thick?) Anyway I'm actually somewhat shocked it caused drama.
Man same. I see her more as a high metabolism constantly burning what she eats type, but thats just my own personal opinion. It ain't that deep.

I honestly thought we had all agreed that Twilight was Indian, Rarity either ghastly white or midnight black and Pinkie was chubby to plus size. I thought this was the given? Why are people mad about bigger characters?? Confusion??
It’s personal designs, there are no agreements just designs and how anyone thinks they would look- personal opinions
Most people I see say Twilight is black. Pinkie also canonically is prolly not chubby (not impossible but the reason people make her chubby is canonically wrong), In the comics (where it is understandable that not everyone knows this) she says something along the lines of "no matter how much I eat I never gain weight". What I never get is why people act like there is only controversy now, people have been asshats about Pinkie race-wise for years, in both directions.
Now, all of that being said, let people have their fun. It's fine to disagree and state your opinions and such, but no need to be rude about it. And everyone is going too far with that, from those labeling others as racist for the disagreement to those being hateful about the occasional chubby black Pinkie Pie lol. Like can we just call the Jerks jerks for not letting others have their fun and not be like "anyone who vocally disagrees is some kind of bigot".

Seriously, the school mascot is literally a cowboy. A cowboy hat is a ubiquitous item of clothing. It can be casual, it can be formal, it can be business, it can be school spirit. People are far more likely to question you for dressing like a goth.

Its not "forced", people just create representation where there wasn't any before, because they WANT to! people want to see characters like themselves in their favourite media so they'll create it themsleves if they have to and i absolutely love to see it!

People get wayyyyy too invested in each others artistic expression. I've seen vitriol from both sides about the human designs, mainly Pinkie. I saw artists who drew her thinner and white get a ton of hate comments and I've seen artists who drew her bigger and black get a ton of hate comments. Like guys, it's a FAN design of a PONY. Personally I've always seen Pinkie as an Irish redhead, especially considering that she and Applejack are probably related, her hair is naturally straight, she has blue eyes, and her family is coded quaker, but it's not that deep. Everyone sees different things. The problem lies with this weird "MY DESIGN IS THE REAL DESIGN" rhetoric. Anyway, I love these designs! Ultimately the most important thing is capturing character, and these are so in character.
Exactly! I’ve unfortunately also seen some people get mad at Rainbowdash and Fluttershy designs because they didn’t fit how other artists drew them. It should totally up to interpretation, and I don’t think people should get mad at different body types/skin color on redesigns of literal ponies.

I was a fat pinkie truther for years until i saw someone do a yansim redesign whi talked about how maybe it's not that productive to always make characters associated with food (especially sugary food) fat. After that I've been torn. I still love fat Pinkie bc i always think it looks super cute, but now I pick another member of the mane 6 to be a thicker body type too. Usually I like having Twi or Rarity to be fat as well and AJ having a thicker "soft-muscle" build - the kind you see on rugby players.

i love when people make their redesigns of characters different and accurate. Pinkie eats a lot of sweets and I imagine that she would be more chubby. But thats my own opinion. Also her characters poofy hair does make interpret her as a black girl. Yes i know other races can have similar hair but a little diversity won’t kill you.
Anyway, i love your artstyle and your designs are adorable and look just like i imagined them ^___^

Nah your Pinkie design is really similiar to how I think of her. Making her pudgy is really not that wild like the girl is made of frosting LOL. She would also be very squishy and cuddly and outgoing. Her race makes sense too.
