    Hey Budheads,
    It's been a while since I've talked gear with you. I figured I'd show off something you see quite a bit in my videos and that I use on a lot of my recordings. My ‪@GuildGuitarsUSA‬ D-240E is a workhorse. There are some quirky things about it when it comes to its electronics, but nonetheless, Guild delivers a quality dreadnought that won't break your bank account.
    Cheers! Let me know what you think in the comments below.

    I've had my D-240E for about 3 years. It is a great, easy playing guitar, and yes the arch back gives it a fuller sound. As my dad taught me many years ago, I choose my guitars by the sound, tone, and playability. This guitar has incredible sustain and a beautiful booming voice. The action is sweet. My cable jack is a different setup than yours, and works well. I will likely never get rid of this guitar. A side note: the confidence I've gained in this Guild, encouraged me to look at one of their hollow body models. It turned out to be an incredible buy, a T-50. Go look for one with the same kinds of compliments that I've given to my D-240E. It will give you a lot of playing pleasure.

      I will check out the T-50! I do like my D-240e, but like you, I will likely part with this guitar. I recently obtained a Taylor GS mini (no video, yet) that just meets so many of my needs. I feel someone else could enjoy this axe as much as I have in the past years at a very affordable price. Cheers, mate!

    I have one of these,it was a freight damage model,a fret dot on the neck out of place. Got it for 280.00 . I'm a happy Bruce! Got a Mexican baby Martin as well. Had to work on it a little, but it's good too!

    I ordered this particular guitar today. I was between a Recording King model and her. I hope I made a good choice!

      I have a couple of Recording Kings as well. Depending on which RK you were looking at, I’d say the Guild is a good choice.

    For the tone/volume differentiation problem you could probably use a Sharpie pen and write a T and a V just outside the sound hole. Great sounding guitar. It comes across as very warm.

      @@JohnBudnikBand No do NOT use a sharpie on a Guild. Chinese or not. I own a Chinese Guild, along with a vintage Westerly RI built D-25. No matter what level, Guilds are incredible and should be treated as such. There is no need to mark up the top. When it comes to the volume and tone wheels on a pickup system like that, the volume is always the one closer to the bridge, whereas the tone is always the one closer to the neck.

    • @JohnBudnikBand
      @JohnBudnikBand  2 года назад +1

      No worries my man. I’d never take a sharpie to an instrument. Appreciate the insight on the electronics, just kind of wish it was a little more accessible. I do love my Guilds.

    Great review/ Apparently it needs a K&K pickup in it . Just wondering if you still have it. Thinking about buying one. What you think now you have had it awhile. Hey man thanks a lot!! Jeff Clark from ROCKDALE Texas

    • @JohnBudnikBand
      @JohnBudnikBand  2 года назад

      Hey Jeff, thanks for the comment! I still have my D-240e. I live in a harsh winter climate in Alaska. I've notice that in the winter time that it loses it's humidity faster than my other acoustic guitars, and that's with using case and sound hole humidifiers. I'll be honest that I have been contemplating consigning this guitar at my local shop. However, not because I hate it or it's not playable, but because I wouldn't mind having a lower-end Martin or Taylor of the OOO variety. I have a Taylor 410 dreadnought that I'm thinking about putting some electronics in, which would kind of make this obsolete in my stable. It's a very economical guitar and very playable, but with economical comes with a few quirks - for me, the electronics and the humidity thing. Hope this helps!

      @jefferyclark351 2 года назад +1

      @@JohnBudnikBand thanks for the quick response ! Kind of leaning toward a Taylor 110e for my so call banger acoustic. Talk about climate it’s been between 103 &110 down here in south West Texas ever day for last month. I keep my guitars in a room with a special AC that keeps the room 72 &50% humidity.

    D240e or d260ce?? What guitar has best electric sound for acoustic gigs?!

    • @JohnBudnikBand
      @JohnBudnikBand  Год назад +1

      I've never played a D260ce, so take this for what it's worth - but it looks like the 260 has a Fishman pickup and the Guild has a proprietary one. This makes sense to me since the 260 is more expensive, meaning it probably has better electronics. My guess is that the 260 is better. But again, I've never played one so it's hard to say for sure.

  • @Jeymez
    @Jeymez 2 года назад +1

    the price dropped on these quite a bit, I've seen them recently going for 300.
    i can see why based on some of the things you mention,
    they almost got this guitar right, the sound is pretty good for it's price range,
    but i think a better spot for those switches would've been great.
    usually they put them on the bottom right,
    but some people have complained in the past that some people have trouble reaching.
    though to be fair it's not the easiest thing to put switches on a dreadnought,
    but if a company wants to make an Acoustic Electric,
    it's easier on certain bodies than on a Dreadnought, but alot of people like to hear the full tone of a Dreadnought being amplified. personally i think guitars down in this price range should be Acoustic only, it's just a personal taste, but i find that the electronics on lower Acoustics to be the one weak point. now once in awhile you can find good Acoustic Electric guitars out there,
    but it depends on how much time they put into it.

    • @JohnBudnikBand
      @JohnBudnikBand  2 года назад

      Thanks for the comment! Spot on, too. For the money, you got to expect something on it to be flawed. The electronics are the biggest weak point in terms of design and quality. It’s definitely my workhorse guitar and I don’t mind banging it around a bit.

      @@JohnBudnikBand i can tell, it's definitely the perfect outdoor camping guitar lol.
      Guild has some really soothing sounds that you get out them,
      i love Martin, but not everything in there lower price range can match Guild.

    What’s the difference between the 240 and the 140?

    • @JohnBudnikBand
      @JohnBudnikBand  2 года назад +1

      Looks like you can get the D-140 in a sunburst, and the sides, back and neck are made from Solid African Mahogany versus the D-240's mahogany. I think overall, you're probably getting better materials with the D-140, hence twice the price.
