I can't thank you guys enough for this video. As an 18 year old I didn't feel like paying a shop 1500 bucks to do my clutch so I got down in my garage and am doing it myself. It's a 335xi and it's not easy but I'm just a few bolts away from getting the bell housing off. Pain in the ass getting the shifter out with a transfer case in the way but I'll figure it out I hope. Thanks again
Just did this yesterday on 335xi.Have done other BMWs and E90 was the hardest one so far. Super tight. There is no need to remove cats or even open the hood...
Billy lockwood haha right? That's the way me and a friend always used to do it, we didn't have any fancy lifts or anything just the good old garage and some beer :)
Love this video!!! The car noises when you pulled off the shifter knob was hilarious. And the background applause when you got the trans off. Loved it all. THANK YOU FOR NOT PUTTING ANY RAP MUSIC IN THE BACKGROUND!!!!!!! This video was informing, funny and very entertaining. I would love to know what those jacks on the side of the car were, and where did you get them???? Good to have friends who are willing to get down there with you and help. I bought my 335i with a spec stage 3+ clutch already in it, and already FBO down. But I'm watching as much content as possible to learn as much about my new car as I can, as there will be a time when I'm going to need to know. So thanks for making content to help all of the N54 gang...
great video. just bought a 2011 335 6 speed manual and its got a stripped first gear that pops out at 1500rpm. trying to learn as much as i can i'm not a mechanic but hopefully my older brother and i can do this. video helps a lot !
Really nice. Was helpful for me. Did the job a few days ago. Horrible :D. Just a comment: Do not grease the shaft for the release bearing even with special grease. I had a call with SACHS because I just read it in the newtis instruction. The inner bearing is made of plastic and it could be that the grease (together with the clutch dust) is creating a non slippery surface and the shifting becomes difficult after a while. Just clean it and that's it. Just in case metal is sliding on metal it's necessary to grease with special grease.
I'm glad you left the commentary in when you dropped the transmission. Hahaha thought I was the only one that talked that dirty to my car on a victory 😂😂😂
17:32 Although the entire walk through is a greate reference, and know what to look out for or expect. Be careful on this part as it does not apply to all cars that carry the N54. Some N54 cars the diamon which is the "high side" belong on the outside. So before you change your TOB, check to see first how it is installed before installing the new one. You will notice one side is larger than other for high or low. All N54 cars do not use the same transmission.
love the vids man! great quilty, very informative, good music and editing!you dezerve 100000 subscribers!! im about to by a 2009 335i ,could you tell me what insurance cost
Great video. You guys are funny! Next time change the clutch fork pivot. I used a bronze one instead of the white plastic one that wears out. Also did oil pan gasket and rear main seal. Glad you chose to use new flywheel bolts! Thumbs up!
Budget Bimmers Fair enough, the amount of time spent doing all these mods X labor price these days per hour = 💵💵💵💵💵💵 Your car sounds amazing and you're doing an amazing job guys, keep up the good work.
Hey, im doing my clutch next week and was wondering how you got everything to stop spinning. You said you had somebody holding the crankshaft, and i have no idea how you would go about doing that.
Hi all ... made sense install on off those racing clutchs un terms of durabilty, do they last significatily longer ir its just perfomance stuff? My car is stock and It will remain stock like i said, if It last longer because they can take more torque
Hey guys, Im making 570whp/510wtq on my 335i. I installed the Factory SMFW along with the 335is clutch when I bought the car, didn't think I would be making this much power with the car lol needless to say the 335is clutch is not holding up. You said Spec 3 clutch, and its springless plate. Why did you go with this set up? How is it holding up and how is the drivability? Thanks!
Alvaro Haesbaert Id probably rather it was a spring plate but it came springless. As for driveability it’s not as bad as you’d think, a little bit of studder taking off at lower rpm but not too bad. I wanted to make sure it could handle the power I plan on putting down
One of your more technically tight videos, EXCELLENTLY done. Questions: Did you really need to pull both down pipes? Did you really need to yank the shifter? Almost forgot, how marked is the improvement in the lighter fly-wheel? Did it impact the (otherwise) smooth idle for example?
I can't belive how big those flywheels are!! I just switched my 2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT-V6 to a single mass! seems to function better than dual mass. More affordable too!!
Replacing the clutch on the 335xi n55, would you have near or close access to the turbo and would it make sense to replace (upgrade) the turbo while replacing the clutch or would they be completely separate jobs?
I may sound stupid but mine has a flywheel like your stock one you took off and a self adjusting clutch. The liner wont go in because that stud in the middle of the flywheel . Do you no another way of doing it?
I got a 325d recently bought i wabt to replace the clutch because i want to tune it up to 300+ hp. What is a good afortable clutch ? And is dual mass a option ?
Hey man I'm installing my stage 3+ clutch soon , I was wandering with my clutch a paper came in saying I have to install my throw out bearing in some low or high position what did you do about that??
Thanks in advance for your video. Unfortunately I had a SPEC clutch failure and need to disassemble to repair it.I'm not satisfied because I had a failure in a short time. 70k km. i will watch your video carefully!
